This is a great record shop located right off of the central Little Tokyo Shopping District…read moreCorridor. What they offer is vinyl. It's a simple as that. Plus, they have a lot of it. In terms of their actual offerings, they have a lot of used vinyl, some of it is very rare. So, if you're looking for that really special something, you may very well be able to find it at this shop. They also have a lot of new vinyl. Some of it is of the older variety, and some of it is very new releases. So, whatever you're looking for, you should be able to find something here. In terms of their pricing, it's all very reasonable. Even the rare vintage vinyl they offer is priced very competitively in correlation with the modern market. This is the same with their new vinyl, their prices are very competitive. They also offer a few other items like some cassette tape and things like that. Thus, it is your one stop shop for when you want to grab that special piece of music. The staff here are all really nice. So if you need any help, they'll be happy to help you out. Overall, this is one of those dying breeds of shops, one that offers a grand selection of vinyl. It's a great place to visit, whether you're looking for that special record, or you're just looking to look. Overall, it's a great shopping experience.

There is a nearby paid parking garage or street parking all around the area. Inside, they have a pretty spacious setup with lots of records to sort through. Some cool record finds I came across for my music taste were Pop Smoke, Big Sean, Tame Impala, Kehlani, and Thee Sacred Souls. The records here are fairly priced and the staff are friendly and welcoming. I ended up copping the 75th Anniversary Sailor Moon vinyl for wifey since it was a record she had been chasing and one we do not see in the wild often. Definitely come check them out if you are ever in the area!

And while we didn't find the particular albums that we were looking for, we were blown away by the sheer ambiance and amount of product they do possess. Being a child of the 70's and '80s, we could have looked through their collection for four or five hours easy since I think those were the greatest decades of music with artist who not only achieved legendary status, but even one hit wonders that what have you going back into time. In fact, we were joking with the staff that we easily could have opened and closed the place down by doing an entire day shift right alongside them! The place really blows you away from a 5 senses standpoint as well. The sights, sounds, and smells all hit you at once-and in here and on this occasion, that was a great thing. If you follow a little hallway it leads you into a completely different section into what seems like a another small universe or at least galaxy. Once on the other side of this hallway which leads you to another portion of the building entirely, your met with even more records and additional musical and odd treasures. To top it off, a bar with alcohol awaits you! Lol You can't make this place up! Bottom line here folks is this is a really cool, cool place-especially for those who love classic music, a good beer, and the idea of hunting for what you want. I'd highly recommend this place....just be prepared to put in some serious time for research and for your senses to be able to take it all in.

You will not find better preowned prices on Amazon or other major book resellers, except Goodwill maybe. There are many structures (such as a metal vault) and beautiful designs made from uniquely binded books to relax around and explore. Even when I'm not looking to buy anything, it's still worth coming just to explore. The place is unlike anything else. It's also a perfect spot for anyone creating content for a social media travel page. Upstairs you'll find an art gallery and several other shops, while downstairs has old vinyl records and CDs. If you love that classic old bookstore smell, this place has it in full. Personally it's not my favorite, but definitely worth noting for those who do. The main downsides are parking and crowds. Finding a spot by car can be a challenge, and the store draws a good number of tourists so it can get pretty packed. If you're not a fan of crowds, just keep that in mind before you go.

A video store for all of us intellectual movie nerds!…read more Videotheque sells some new and used DVDs and Blu-Rays, but their main purpose of being is as a video rental store and it's like no other video store I've been too. Their videos are organized by how a cinema fan's mind works. By category, by country, by director. John Woo movies in the Hong Kong director's section. Hou Hsiao-Hsien in Taiwan. There's classic porn from the 70s, 80s and 90s. There are Criterion discs. There are John Huston movies, Godard movies, Wim Wenders and David Lynch. Dario Argento horror movies. Sci-fi. Pre Sci-fi. Post Sci-fi. Brazilian. African. Silent films... I could go on and on. If you are looking for an obscure out of print classic film that's not on streaming, there's an 80% chance that you can find it here to rent. There is street parking nearby. The problem? I live in OC and this place is in Mount Washington/Montecito Heights. So if I move down there, I'll be renting some unheard of movies, that's for sure!

Terrible experience here over the weekend! They have…read moreconstruction in the area and plead with people on social media to come and shop. Then, they treat you poorly! It was a pain to get here, lots of construction causing Terrible traffic and delays since we don't leave on Westside. When we went to check the movie section a store employee was sweeping around customers in that area. My husband went to look at movies and he called him out, insulting him as "oblivious". The employee was too concerned about some in store concert, moved things around. But not about getting business from customers. Rude customer service! Well, that's why folks shop online. Who needs this crap? You go through difficulties to come and support a local record store and that's what you get. No respect! On top, not enough merchandise, poor selection. Dusty. We left what merchandise we were planning on getting and left. To never return! Stay away!

All in the study reported feeling better post exercise but those who listened to "The Four Seasons" said they felt even better; performed even better in cognitive testing. Well, that was enough for me to trade in my vinyl for the aforementioned piece in CD format so I could listen in my car (remember it was twenty years ago). I played "The Four Seasons" as I drove to and from work, wrote reports, did my taxes (similar studies show improved math skills in children), or simply relaxed and like those in the non-control group Ohio study, I felt better even recruited long forgotten vocabulary! Mere weeks ago that very same CD bit the dust; skipped over way too many movements. I washed it, talked to it but it was gone... Yeah, I know there's a myriad of more technologically advanced listening platforms but I'm old school. Enter Record Surplus (The Westside's Amoeba equivalent?) for replacement and much, much more. What truly stood out was the completely pressure-free environment. There was zero rush to buy or make any decisions on the spot; their primary goal was simply to help me find the right sound. I eventually purchased my beautiful DeVore O/96 speakers from them, and the entire process was a joy.
