I had not been to a dentist in years and was having a lot of pain, so it was very nice to get in there and have them help me get my teeth back to a healthy state. I highly recommend them. The dental work and the cleanings are all very gentle and easy to handle for people with a lot of anxiety about dentist and their dental health. My last dentist was not nearly as careful and the work and the cleanings they would do were always painful, so it was refreshing to find a dentist that takes their time and is careful and aware of what the patient is feeling. I had to get a crown done. It turned out he wanted to do "a lot more than that" Chatting with his staff and getting them to open up, speak about kids, sports, the work they had done from their boss etc. it's came to my knowledge he is notorious for trying to add work that genuinely isn't needed at the time. Hearing that his own staff is going to different doctors for second opinions was extremely eye opening as that speaks volumes. The positive person in me gave him the benefit of the doubt. I continued to get work done despite hearing what I just heard... a few fillings were first. This built a 1k bill after insurance paid their tiny part. When I came in to go to the next steps he did not want to do anymore work as he thought I was playing the system and just building a debt. This was something he did not tell me but told his female staff to tell me instead. So what did I do? I asked to speak directly to him. You could tell he was not comfortable in any way shape or form speaking about this. But I essentially called him out on it. You could tell he was judging my age, looks etc. once our small confrontation Was ironed out I decided to pay the 1k in one shot just out of spite kind of a middle finger to him saying "Stop judging people" He no joke then proceeds to do the next portion of what I needed( all about money nothing more to him). But he told me if I was a long-standing customer having a debt wouldn't be as big of an issue to him. Totally understand. So I hoped me paying off the 1k would suffice as a point made to him that I am not " cheap" if you will. This next portion was now the crown a much expensive procedure. I got the procedure done and the temporary crown put on and WAS CHARGED FOR THE MAKING OF THE PERMANENT CROWN. Covid then shuts down everything as we all know. During this time that he is shut down I moved out of state. My girlfriend then visited CA and I asked her to stop by the office to pick up the crown so I can have it placed out in my new state. What do you think happened? They refused to give it to her as I had a balance. So what he is saying is what I was already charged for and building compound interest on I can not have as I have a balance. But I can go in physically to get it placed. If I was charged I own it right? I hope this review helps you make your decision. Is he a good doctor? Yes. Steady hands for sure. Is he a good person? from my experience you be the judge. It seems to be all about money for him from my experience. All I am trying to do is place this crown before this temporary falls out. Which you would think he wanted also. I offered to make a payment on the crown to his front desk bus it seems that isn't good enough. We were there in person, we asked about mailing it etc. all no's. If I was charged for it..I legally Own it right? I'm still in a battle with his front desk Myrna as he doesn't answer his own emails. Dr. Chou and his team are beyond amazing! He is extremely patient and sincere. I had major issues with my teeth and gums ranging from a cracked tooth to redoing my root canals. I feel very well taken care of and trust him with my teeth with no questions. I used to be so afraid to get my teeth cleaned but now I can say I no longer exhibit any fear going to see my hygienist nor am I afraid to go get dental work from Dr. Chou! Best dentist that I've had! He was highly recommended by a friend to do my bridge removal and crown so I went to get the procedure done. This was the very first time that I did NOT feel pain when I got the numbing shot! What a wonder right? Dr. Chou was very careful and gentle and went slow enough where I felt pressure but no pain. The whole procedure went smoothly and better than I had expected. Overall, he's a great dentist and really cares about the patient's experience (and making it as painless as possible). He answered all my questions and walked me through the procedure and kept me posted at times during the procedure so I wasn't wondering what was happening to my tooth. Absolutely the best health practice Ive ever had the pleasure of being in. Dr. Chou has assembled an amazing staff including the front desk & hygienists. Typically dentists recommend a cleaning every 6 months. Dr. Chou told me my oral hygiene and body chemistry probably didnt require me to come in that frequently and he suggested once every 10-12 months, which will end up costing him 50% of the money I would have normally paid him, but he won me over for life. read more

This was the best dental experience I've ever had.. My bro and sis in-law referred me to dr. Chou when my crown fell out during our Mothers day brunch, yow! This tooth/crown had been hurting since it was put in 7 months ago. My previous dentist told me that if it kept hurting, I would for sure need a root canal so I had been putting off what I thought was the inevitable... First off, I was in a lot of pain so Dr. Chou talked me through it, and got me right in. I went to my appointment expecting to get a root canal.. Dr. Chou numbed me up (with no problem! I have a VERY high tolerance for Novocain, it usually takes at least 3 shots to even start me getting numb!) put the crown back in and discovered that it was way too high. He ground it down with so much attention to detail and precision. He's a perfectionist.. Which is exactly what you want in a dentist. Long story short, he got my crown down to the right height and told me to wait a month and see if I felt better.. This was only yesterday and already my tooth feels SO much better! I am so grateful for Dr. Chou's conservative approach. I think a lot of other dentists would have looked at my situation and jumped right into the root canal.. Even if I do wind up needing a root canal on this tooth, I feel confident that Dr. Chou is the man for the job - and am so grateful to have found him! ps. Years ago, I had multiple cavities and was dreading my first numbing shot. As I was waiting for the moment, I could hear him working and prepping my teeth. Or so I thought. Before I could figure out what he was going to do next, he told me he was done. Wait a minute...where was the shot? What happened to all the drilling? He apparently completed ALL five fillings before I knew what hit me. I was completely sold that day. Today I had three fillings, and once again, no need for the shot. He's that good. And quick. Dr. Chou became my primary DDS last fall after years of searching for the "right DENTIST" and I am glad I found him. As advertised in these reviews, Dr. C is attentive and isn't just quick to recommend an expensive $$ procedure like other DDS may try to do. He listens to the dental issues I have and he explores all avenues of treatment rather than the one that bring him most $$. His staff is great. Myrna at the front desk is on top of things. The gentlest, most precise dentist in the area! With Dr. Chou, I've never once felt any discomfort or pain (I've never even felt the shots!) - he makes it a priority that you are comfortable. He is also very patient in listening to your questions and won't just rush off to the next patient. Dr. Chou is now 'out of network' with my new insurance, but I still go to him! I've been going to Dr. Chou since he bought the practice from Dr. Downs. It must have been more than 10 years now. The little things that Dr. Chou and the staff does, makes me feel welcomed and cared for. They make sure that I have my little pillow, a blanket for my feet, and a small towel to cover my eyes. Having these things helps me to relax and feel safe. When Dr. Downs sold his practice, I was worried with the new dentist.
