I found this business on Yelp. Stereo 1 is easy to find, and there is ample parking. Stereo 1 like most Los Angeles, and the surrounding suburban areas, blight is evident. I'd like to say there is some California scene, but it is like a warehouse inhabiting a garage... living in an airplane hangar...from the 70s... Yeah... that's it. Buying a car stereo was a bit like traveling in time, for me. There was a variance for installation if I bought the stereo there or brought my own, of $75. When I asked about it, the owner's answer was a bit arbitrary. Let me say of the owner, they seemed to me like a businessman who's trying their best to achieve the American dream, like us all, but is running a plantation instead of a cooperative. It is that choice of business structure, one at the top, that dooms so many businesses, like this one. The owner took time and managed customers while delegating employees masterfully like the country was founded on such behavior. I really appreciated the patience and energy of the other patrons. I had a lot of questions about a deck that could connect to Bluetooth, and the owner answered them all honestly, in my opinion. I asked the owner about alarms, and the owner gave me an opportunity to bundle, which I'm grateful for. I asked if Stereo 1 offered a Veteran Discount, and the owner took off $10. The installation was a respectable amount of time, and I asked the owner to ensure the backup camera was installed into my screen, and which they did; and, the owner didn't charge me for the harness. Because it was my first time there, the owner honored the 10% off. I'm satisfied with the installation. I noticed my original radio was not in my car, and I did have a CD in that deck...beyond the original radio... being mine... not being in my family's truck, but I digress. ...Other than my missing property, I really like Stereo 1. We bought a Bluetooth/Navagation system from Stereo 1 a few weeks ago for my son's truck, and the gentleman working there was very knowledgeable & friendly and let me know I needed to purchase certain cords for the system as well. I had no idea and just assumed everything I needed was in the box for the system. It wasn't too much extra in cost, but I'm glad I didn't get all the way home and have to go back! He heard us talking about eventually wanting to use the back up camera function that the system came with and offered the show us the camera we could use with it. To our surprise a back up cam and cord needed for it was only $29 extra, so we bought everything all at once. Since then, we've already gone back for more of our car stereo needs. They are pretty awesome, super helpful, and have a great inventory on hand! I called and was quoted approximately $80 for them to install my touch screen Pioneer stereo. When I got there some short Hispanic guy told me my stereo was missing some cables and that it would now be $125 to install. The guy tells me my stereo was an old Pioneer model worth "$50 bucks" and that my stereo had no Bluetooth. He then tells me it's best I buy a stereo from them, he shows me a small rinky dinky stereo from their store "non touch screen" for $145 with installation. I knew he was full of crap and because I'm a woman he was trying to take me for fool. I went to another shop and got my stereo installed for $50 bucks! No cables were needed and my stereo has bluetooth! My advice for Women is go elsewhere or take a man so that you don't get hustled here! I didn't want anything too loud, something more personal so he recommended a 10" under seat sub. This fills in the low ends my stock speakers don't achieve. The bass isn't too crazy but it does the job from no bass to just the right amount. Worked on a price that was right in budget. This place was very professional and had a great selection of products. I really loved how quickly they installed my subwoofers and amp. It's been a while since I had a system in my car, but they told me that they'd be able to install a small subwoofer volume dial on the bottom of my steering wheel, (I'm so happy that I did that.) The only negative thing that I'd say about this place is that it was not inexpensive, to install 2 subwoofers and an amp, I spent about $450. That being said, they did the job in the same day, they mounted my amp to the backseat and routed the cords, they cleaned everything up when they were done and the system works great! The old saying is true, you get what you pay for, and even though the cost was a bit much, it ended up being worth it. I'd recommend friends to come here for their audio needs. read more

I dont appreciate sam's approach to doing business. on multiple occasions sam has given me misinformation with the intention of selling me items i do not need. EXAMPLES... i told sam id like to install an eq into my vehicle, ok he says i will need a 5 channel amplifier "no other way".. after a day of research i determine i can and end up using a 4 channel and a monoblock amp to have full control of the eq... exactly what sam said will not work. few weeks later i look to upgrade my sub sam then informs me i will need to upgrade my amp (without seeing it) i inform him it is a 1500 rms amp and 12@what would be a suitable upgrade. not only does he show me amps less than 1500 watts he shows me expensive amps with less power than what is currently supplying my sub. sam is very knowledgeable but do not depend on him to utilize his knowledge to your best interest. you will get below decent service from sam, he will ignore you for another customer if you have questions. if you're knowledgeable you will have a good shopping experience im sure, but the prices are nothing to die for. just convenient car audio products located in the valley. Sam, i do not appreciate how you conducted business with me. i hope you strive to share the passion of audio with others while helping people achieve the most efficient systems possible. This is the worst stereo shop I have been to. The guy was charging me extra for a job that somewhere else was charging 30$ less. I still end up asking them to do because I thought they were going to do a good job but it turns out they did. not. I just wanted a simple removal of my subwoofers and amplifier with the cables. I'm taking off 1 Star because I thought I would pay $200 for my new stereo for my 2005 Camry (day goodbye to the tape deck) but ended up paying $526. That's after a 10% off deal from Yelp. It was more if I wanted a touch screen. It was more if I wanted the stereo wired to the speakers directly. It was more if I wanted the controls on the steering wheel to still work. I didn't feel ripped off but I did feel unprepared. The install looks great and they got it done in 2 hours as promised. First off everything in his store is marked up $100 + dollars compared to even the most expensive site such as Crutchfield.
