It's been roughly a month since Sam and his team set me up with a Sony head unit to replace my decades old OEM plain stereo. I had lived with an external BT module attached to the headliner through those years, but last year had rented some cars while on vacation, which sported Android Auto and thought it would be nice to have that on my car. Planning a long driving vacation this year, I decided to upgrade and Stereo1 did a wonderful job. This is the worst stereo shop ever been Because took my car to get sound put in and talk to the owner gave me a good price but when he gave my key to the installer he was very disrespectful any question I ask him he say I don't care I get paid regardless i believe his name was Steve the other installers were very nice and respectful to me any question I asked other installer they went out of there way to help me even when they were doing there installation. This is the absolute best stereo shop in LA and the valley, I've known Sam ( the owner ) for over 20 years, I used to take my cars to his big warehouses in Covina and City of Industry back in the late 90s. Sam has been doing car stereo for nearly 40 years and literally carries and sells nothing but the best of the best like JL Audio, Memphis, Viper and Rockford Fosgate, Focal audio and much more. Stereo 1 was more than a car stereo company back in the day, it was a university that graduated so many successful car stereo shop owners and employees at big professional audio corporations. It's sad how there are so many unreasonable people posting unjustified reviews about Sam and Stereo 1. One thing you need to know for sure, he will beat any price on top products and brand names in professional 12 volt audio and video GUARANTEED, he's a straight forward man and has no reason to overcharge anyone, it has been a privilege working with him for over 2 decades and I will never go anywhere else. Finally headed in to get my stock radio changed. I didn't know where to begin in selection. There are so many. I was greeted by the front desk and helped in selection of a stereo that best fit my needs. It got installed in like an hour. Not too long of a wait. In the meantime I played with all the speakers and amps on the walls and they even had a model of the stereo I got so I got to play with it and learn how it works. The staff still shows you anyways after they install it which was pretty neat. Im looking to head in later when I get a newer car and some more money to get a sick stereo system with subs and amps. read more

My son had Stereo 1 install a subwoofer in his 2007 E63 and in the process they cracked the face of the plastic around the speaker. They have denied any wrongdoing and if they were a professional shop they would do a walk around to ensure that any pre-existing damage was noted and acknowledged by both parties. They are not willing to acknowledge nor provide any options to repair. Workmanship is bad!!! read more

I got a head unit , 4 speakers , and a 4 channel amp installed here 2 months ago.. install was OK. They made mistakes here and there and my rear windows were not working when I returned after a month to install thicker gauge speaker wire from amp to speakers a month after initial install. I bought some really good 10 gauge speaker wire on Amazon and brought it to them but they were saying it wouldn't fit in my door grommet. I took my car to another audio shop and they said it would fit. They ended up selling me their 12 gauge speaker wire and I returned mine. I had a $20 bill lodged in my center console under where the cup holder is that I couldn't get to. Just checked in there and found out it's missing.. hmmm.. Giving 2 stars because they have good products. But install team needs improvement (in many ways). read more

I've been here on several occasions when I was younger, because I didn't know any better. I've done price checking versus other places, and this had one of the highest prices for the sub, amp, and installation. From what I remember, I've brought 3 different vehicles to do installation for sub/amp; when you come to pick up your car, the owner will ALWAYS say that they "added a device to make it work," which wasn't disclosed before installation, is an additional $20-$50, and doesn't call to make sure that the additional price is OK. He first asks for $50, if you don't have the money he asks, "how much do you have?" Obviously trying to pocket some cash. A friend of mine also brought his car there and said the owner did the same thing to him. I remember the first time I went there. I bought sub/amp from bestbuy and brought it there for installation. I didn't really know much about what the best speakers were. I was just a kid wanting to make noise. The owner advised that he can give me a better price for better products, so I returned the items and bought with him. The amp could not handle the subs he recommended me and kept going out. It was just a terrible experience. To be honest, I still don't know how they even still have a business. Good luck! read more

UPDATE - I now know the alarm in my truck was not working for over a year because the installers here cut the wires. Sloppy work, sub par service. DON'T GO HERE. Bottom line: Mediocre installs, a bit sloppy and borderline amateurish custom work. If you want cheap and don't care about your car looking pristine afterwards, then this is the place for you. I took my truck here, and had a stereo installed along with an amplifier and 6 speakers. The price was average, not cheap, but not expensive, considering it included installation. They threw in a bunch of goodies so I was happy with that. They even offered financing which was nice, but I didn't need it. The install was fairly quick, took an afternoon to get it all done. At first everything seemed to work fine and was installed nicely, or so it seemed. Again, it's not like they punched holes in my dash and tore up anything, but a "professional" install... this was not. I could have done just as good a job with a little more time and care. Once I drove home, I turned up the volume and listened hoping to hear a great big difference from the stock stereo system. It was obvious that the sound was better but considering the quality of components I purchased I was not happy. I bought 6 Infinity Reference series speakers, and Kicker 300 Watt Amplifier. The deck was pioneer and so the sound should be excellent. It wasn't. I figured I expected too much and since the largest speaker installed was a 6.5" I convinced myself that I shouldn't expect too much bass or range of sound. But as I listened, the sound would get distorted and eventually the tweeters started to crackle. I was pissed. Then I tried using the fader and the speakers had been wired backwards. Right was left and left was right. It was wierd. So I took it back, had it not for the great service I would have been furious. They immediately took the truck in and fixed the wiring and looked at the speakers. They installed a capacitor on the tweets to keep the sound from overwhelming them. So off I went. Well of course as time went on (maybe a few days) the rear right speaker started to crackle. I took the truck back in. Another guy looked at the car and adjusted the amplifiers gain. That was MUCH better, now I could actually turn up the sound without it sounding like garbage. Still the bass and range of sound was sub par and i'm still not happy with the speakers. I'm not sure if it's the speakers or the install or what, but I spent several thousand dollars and the sound is mediocre at best. Also, there was a piece for the dash that they replaced with matt black and I wanted it to be grey like what was on there before. They told me they ordered it and that they'd call me when it arrived. I came in about 1/2 a dozen times and it was never there. Finally I gave up. Now they've always been nice, and tried to do what they can, but the install was poor from the beginning. If you're not a big audiophile then this place is ok. But for me... i'm never coming back here again. Had they not been so willing to help me out and fix whatever they could they would have gotten 2 stars for sure. I'm going somewhere else in the future. Oh and after some time, I began to notice slight gouges in my dash and some of the plastic where they ran wiring. The car was new so, these became noticeable right away. I've seen worse work, but, i've also seen way better at Circuit city even. read more

It was a Sunday. I had attempted to install my own car stereo. I didn't get very far before I realized I was in over my head. I had dismantled the dash. The old radio was hanging out. But it was clear I wasn't going to get it working. I knew it was time to get help. Turns out just about every place to install car radio in the valley was closed on a Sunday. Finally I found Stereo 1. I showed up and they took me right away. Turns out I was missing some key components to install it. Which of course they had in stock. The price quote was reasonable for parts and labor. And they didn't try to sell me on a different stereo. They installed the one I had already purchased. They don't have much of waiting room. I spoke with Sam and he remembered our email conversation. He also suggest other product that is better quality that what I had requested. I agreed to purchase it after he gave me a good deal. After 2 hours the car was ready. Upon receiving my car he told me that he needed to change the harness because one side of my speaker wasn't working. Fast friendly great service I was looking for a certain head unit, was driving by and decided to call them, they had it I stopped in they asked me how much I had seen it advertised for , honestly I told them from 90-160. online and best buy and other retailers online and storefront. I had done my research and knew what I wanted, I was just replacing a kenwood head unit that came in my truck when I bought it to one that was Bluetooth. so I could stream audio . he offered me a KILLER price on labor , everywhere else I had called wanted $100-$150 to install because of the hands free microphone. they only wanted $30 to install. and took about 20 min to do it. talking to the sales guy he asked me If I wanted a better pioneer head unit that has better clarity more options better eq and better Bluetooth for 15 dollars more well I decided to go with that as I have pioneer in my other truck and have liked it a lot. by the way it sounds awesome. the prices here are below what most other places even online sell for. I don't know whats up with all these other reviews about over priced. I have my eyes on a couple other componets for a system. and have been shopping for a while, I asked them how much for a fosgate p400-4 amp. they were 25 dollars less than the cheapest I could find. online. the shop is clean and neat, no dust anywhere, well stocked they have every brand you could imagine, speakers galore, everything is new in un opened box, friendly and helpful. wish I had come across this place before. before I even finished our little conversation we started they were done installing my stereo head unit had run the microphone up by the rear view mirror in the head liner and everything, they were fast neat and awesome. this is a place I would absolutely go again and recommend to anyone. read more

This place is a bunch of b.s went to buy speakers for my wife's car about a year ago and I bought all 4 speakers for around $400 dollars. Thought I was getting a good deal because I though I was buying Memphis speakers yesterday I went to another shop because one of her speakers went out and I wanted to get a amo and sub for her car. Come to find out when I asked the tech that if he had the same Memphis speaker that's is the same as the car he tells me it didn't have Memphis and he showed me and they had put fossils.
