My experience at The Stereo Shoppe was first-rate. Dropped in on a Friday "kicking the tires," contemplating replacement/upgrade of my 35-y.o. Vandersteen speakers which served me well but which were developing age-related problems. Raymond invited me back for a private (store closed) extended audition of several speakers in my price range. He set up some B&W's, some Paradigms, and some Dynaudios in preparation and also suggested I advance-email him a playlist of favorite music to use to compare, which he then had queued up to hi-res stream. Kyndal was super nice to engage with my wife and chat about music (and non-music) while I auditioned. Didn't buy that day, but did come back a couple weeks later and sprung for some sweet Sonus fabers. They were delivered to the store six days later, and Raymond brought them to my home the following day to personally unbox them and set them up. Big upgrade! Loving to listen to all kinds of music again. I am very pleased with both product and service and recommend The Stereo Shoppe to anyone looking for great music reproduction. read more

I spent the time to meet with Chris to go over the requirements for our new home we are building. I spent a couple hours with him and also one of the owners of the company going over what we need done. Our project is a large project with 8 tv's to install, 5 wireless access points, a home theater room to build out including all speakers and equipment, home automation system (control4), automatic window shades, speakers throughout the home and much more. My point is our project is not small and you would think they would be interested in helping us out but I have now been waiting for about 2 months for them to get an estimate to me and they keep scheduling time to go over our estimate but keep backing out at the last minute. My wife and I were having issues with our right speaker cutting out. My wife and I assumed our thirty year old (plus) receiver had bitten the dust. We had gotten it from the original owner back in the late seventies or early eighties. We went through the hassle of disconnecting it from our system and took it to the Stereo Shop to see if it could be salvaged. I wish I had written the young man's name down who helped us. He tested the receiver and it worked fine. We talked and looked for solutions and he said we should try a new connector. We bought one, desperately hoping it would work. It did. We spent close to an hour there, spending less than $40, and he treated us as royalty instead of clueless. It is so nice to be treated with respect and courtesy, especially when it is obvious you know little about the product you need help with. read more

Our appointment was scheduled for 12pm on a Friday afternoon and the sales rep didn't show up until 12:45. No apologies, nothing. We explained what we wanted, he took notes and we never heard from them again. No follow up call, no quote, nothing. What a waste of time. read more

Dreams really do come true! Raymond Verveckken, one on the owners of The Stereo Shoppe and Chris the Chief Home Audio Video installer were standing in the parking lot of the Stereo Shoppe, when I pulled up at 6:PM 10/15 on my 35th Anniversary. My wife waited in the car for an hour while I listened. Her gift to me was her delightful patience and understanding! We had late dinner reservations at FORK! Oh My, The kindness and generosity of time and care spent with me for hours. Both Raymond and Chris were Extraordinary. They shared exciting new music and beautifully remastered old music with me. Even questions that I had about my stereo equipment at home in Spokane were answered. While I listened in SIX different listening rooms to a variety of Audio Video Systems. Often when businesses treat you really good, they say don't tell anybody. Fearing that I might have friends that may expect similar treatment to what I enjoyed at Boise Stereo Shoppe. If you are reading this... You are all my friends. Tell them that I sent you. Go Buy some HIFI!!! There are Turntables, A Plenty! Extremely well set up by Shaun Smith the in house service man. Vinyl sounds "BETTER" when YOUR record player and stylus or needle is aligned and set-up. VTA, ANTI-SKATE a blank record side to see what happens when you set the needle on it in various places. NOT A GOOGLE JOB! I mention Shaun because he spent Saturday morning with me preparing the pair of B&W 803s speakers I purchased, for the long ride home to Spokane. Shaun, a special thanks to you. I brought my Mcintosh Amp in to get looked at for an issue I had.I went there because they came up on the web as a Mcintosh dealer.Iwas told that they wouldnt touch it but suggested that they could ship it to the factory for repair.there was an 8 month back up on repairs.No problem.Iphoned back 6 months later to see how things were going.They told me my amp was damaged in shipping witch a claim was filed with UPS three days after it was shipped.I was never told about this.On the other end, so much time had past that the factory threw out the packing material so UPS claimed that it was my fault for not packing it correctly.If i had been notified on time,I could have had Mcintosh save the packing so i could prove it.The Stereo Shoppe said they were waiting for a call from ups.What they did not tell me was that they already knew what UPS had basically said they werent going to pay the insurance.Iknew this because Iphoned UPS myself.Thats how I found out!In the end I got my amp back in new condition thanks to Mcintosh because they threw out the packaging without UPS inspecting the damage first.A top notch company admitting their mistake.As far as the Stereo shoppe,if they told me right away my amp was damaged,this nightmare would have never happend. I wouldnt suggest this business to anyone.They were no help at all during the whole process.As far as i know,they probably still think they have a claim on my amp.Totally clueless. read more

I have been doing business with the Stereo Shoppe for nearly 3 decades. They were involved in the construction of my home, remodeling, car audio, and numerous consumer products. They represented high quality products and exceptional customer service. That's no longer the case. They changed ownership a few years ago, and everything has changed. Over the past month I've tried to get some home theater components replaced. 3 weeks after requesting a quote, I still haven't got one. Call backs don't happen. 2 days ago I called a competitor, got a quote in 15 minutes, and completed the installation in 2 days. Still haven't even recieved a quote from The Stereo Shoppe. It makes me sad to see how much things have deteriorated. read more

I should have posted this sooner but am just finishing up a project and realized how bad things really were. 4 words "Worst Customer Service Ever". I hired the stereo Shoppe to install speaker wire, Cat 6 and Cable in my basement for an entertainment room . The sales guy called me in the evening to confirm that I wanted the work done. He took payment of $1000. He sent me an email confirming everything to be installed (which I still have). All that was fine. Some guys came and installed the speaker wire and that was it. They showed up at 3 left at 5 one day and 11-2 the following day. When I called to find out when they were going to finish after the weekend (Cat 6 and Cable Tv coaxial cable), amazingly the sales guy didn't work there anymore. Another guy said he would call me back after talking to the owner and he never did. I called multiple times to see what was going on and had no luck and no call backs. I would never use these guys again or recommend them to anyone. Mike read more
