I've been to Stereoscope several times and learned that they would be offering free coffees for fathers on Father's Day. Met up with a friend on a rainy day for daily dosage of caffeine. She ordered the vanilla latte while I, being the caffeine fiend that I am, ordered Pour Over Coffee and an Espresso Tonic. Walking in, I made a scene by walking in and out multiple times because I was waiting for a friend. Then made more of a scene by stepping in and out from the front of the line to allow others to go first while I was indecisive with the menu. Staff handled it great and were very accommodating! It was a bit crowded at first but we were able to squeeze in and land seats right by some windows. The natural lighting made the shop more cozy. Also the music was not overbearing and you could comfortably make conversation. The drinks we ordered were delicious. To be honest, don't really get the hype. I tried the ganache mocha latte with oat milk and it was ok. As a huge croissant connoisseur, I was excited to try their croissant but they ran out of the regular croissants (at 10:40am on a Saturday, c'mooonn) and ended up trying out their everything croissant with cream cheese inside. This is the second time I've came to Stereoscope in Long Beach and the baristas are always so nice and conversational! I ordered the Hojicha with oatmilk because I saw it on TikTok and it tastes amazing. I'm not too sure what it is exactly but it tastes like matcha just a tad bit thicker and slightly sweeter. I love all the stereoscope coffee shops and didn't know that there was one in Long Beach! I have officially been to all of them already after this one. In terms of environment and ambiance, this one has got it in the bag! Although a bit smaller than the Buena Park one, it's more stylish with more comfortable seating. The workers are super nice, especially this fun gal named Kristina who was super kind and talked to all of the customers (I think that was her name haha). Parking - since this is along the 2nd street, parking might be a challenge if you're not familiar with the area. On a weekday, you can easily find parking on the streets as it is only moderately crowded. If on the weekends, good luck! Haha jk. There are paid parking lots that you can look for behind the shops. The iced Spanish latte here is sooo good, I get it every single time with either the Matcha croissant or the Guava croissant. It is truly *chef's kiss*. All the baristas are always super friendly and bring your drink to you. It's small but a really cute place to study, read a book, etc. and it gets direct sunlight inside. We sat at the bar facing the side street, and it turned out to be a great spot to chat. We enjoyed our coffees (I had a Spanish Latte) and the chill, laid-back minimal but stylish vibe. Our barista was friendly and helpful, as this was the first time here for both of us, and steered us toward the drinks that we'd like. It's a pretty small space, though, with only bar seating, so if you had more than 2-3 people in your group it could get a bit awkward. Since I've been coming here every morning consistently for a three months now I must say... it's worth the hype and so happy I stopped here. I'm known to be a coffee "snob." And this place lives up to my taste buds and I like my lattes rich with flavor. They always put the right amount of milk, to expresso and sweeteners. It never has tasted like water or burnt. The iced mocha is hands down the best mocha I've ever had, it tastes like chocolate milk but infused with expresso. I get the less sweet offer. I haven't tried the pastry's yet, but every time I go... they look amazing, coated in chocolate or matcha plus fresh. I have seen the black coffee bags and sadly i didn't like one of their coffee bags i won in a giveaway. But, that did not stop me from checking out their new location in long beach. Walking in there reminded me of a coffee shop in San Francisco. They make good use of the small space they have by making it minimal but elegant. Its white and it has a sleek countertop with the latest brewing station and even a spot to make matcha which means, this place makes great matcha. They take it very seriously and my friend mentioned that she loves that about them. But today i got the spanish latte. It was perfect with the espresso, the sweetened condensed milk and the hints of cinnamon. It is a little bit on the sweeter side but it was really good. This place can get crowded since it just opened and the seating consists of a wooden countertop with lots of stools. I don't recommend this place to study only because of how crowded it is, but its a great place to get coffee to go. Also, parking is terrible here, so come early to find a parking spot, or take an uber here. read more

When I lived in Newport Beach, Stereoscope was the only reliable coffee shop in my area. We recently moved to Long Beach area and have been frequenting this Stereoscope whenever we wanted to treat ourselves to a matcha or coffee outside the house but won't be returning after today. Ordered a matcha latte and was told that it was going to be sweet. That was what first threw me off because in my past visits, there were always varying levels of matcha offered. It's been awhile since I've been to a stereoscope so I said that's fine. I've had their sweetened matcha before and even have had their strawberry matcha and the sweetness was there but not the main event. I then went over to the side and waited and waited and waited. My husband and baby ended up going for a walk while I waited. There was one person making the drinks and one person at the cashier. Finally, the guy making the drinks asked the woman at the cashier to help with the drinks and specifically my matcha. First thing that went wrong was her finger was in the matcha bowl while she whisked and one of her fingers had matcha on it after she was done whisking, gross. Honestly, I should've just said something then but I was antsy from waiting and my baby being due for his nap and wasn't even sure how to call that out. Secondly, she poured the matcha and hot water out of the bowl into the cup and then had to whisk more once the matcha was in the to go cup meaning she didn't whisk well enough in the bowl. Which is probably why the matcha was the milkiest I've ever had at a Stereoscope. And finally, the matcha was nauseatingly sweet. Like Starbucks level sweet. I had already left by that point or otherwise would've asked for my money back. I had my husband try it and he wasn't even sure what I had gotten because it tasted like a hot cup of sugar milk. It was throat burning level sweet. I threw the drink away after our two sips. There's no way that they started sweetening drinks to this level so I'm sure it was a mistake how sweet this drink was but getting a drink out is a rare treat for me and I value consistency in my coffee shops so won't be returning to this location again. read more

The matcha is good but I get one with strawberry chunks and everytime I go the employees say it's a diff name everytime causing me to order the wrong drink and having them remake the other one. They were rude about it trying to make it seem my fault. The lady with the black hair was the one smirking thinking maybe she is the owner since she is the oldest one there. I ordered an Iced Americano (Large Sized ~$5.50) because the barista taking my order mentioned that they were using limited beans from Papua New Guinea with notes of brown sugar and peaches and that really caught my attention. I also got my drink lightly sweetened with simple syrup. Service was on the slower side because there were only 2 other baristas working behind the counter and we could see them making each individual drink. They also come out from behind the counter to serve it to you! I'd say that the wait was well worth because my drink was really flavorful and I definitely caught the notes that the barista mentioned. STRAWBERRY MILK. Hands down. This is my go-to drink all the time. My husband loves the drip coffee and other coffee that they have too. Always very consistent. He loves their burrito the most tho. Sadly this location doesn't have it but still doesn't stop us from going here. We love the whole vibe here and how every store has its own special touch.
