We hired this company two times to help with my brother's condominium. The first time was to help remove a lot of junk and to clean up the kitchen and bathrooms and remove some carpeting. The second time we hired them was after my brother passed away and we had A LOT of items to be taken as donations and furniture and junk to be hauled away. The workers were polite, extremely hardworking and diligent in their work. I tell everyone I can to hire these guys and have passed their contact information on to realtors and appraisers in the area. This company performs a much needed service that you do don't know you need until you need it. Absolutely wonderful. Totally took advantage of us. They estimated spending 4 days and various "biohazard" equipment to be used. Pricing was extremely vague. They ended up only spending less than 20 hours total and not using what was expected - charging us $12,500 for a small 800 sq ft area. They refused to adjust the estimate based on their actual time/supplies spent. Cleaning was far less than a regular housekeeper would perform. Sprayed the floors but didn't clean them. The only reason I give them one star is because the cleaning staff were extremely nice. They are being extremely underpaid for the amount the company is charging. Beware! Our Condo Association Travigne Villas recently used Steri-Clean of Hayward to remove insulation and clean out one of our Homeowner Attic's that had been damaged due to rodent intrusion. After requesting an estimate, I was asked to send photographs of the areas that needed to be cleaned as well as complete a rather lengthy questionnaire. When it came time to get an actual estimate, I kept getting put off and that the project manager wasn't available for quote. This went on for a week, so I finally gave up. I called Steri-Clean when I needed help clearing my grandparent's house of clutter after my uncle's passing. I met with Katie at the house to do an inspection, and she was very professional and helpful in asking questions about what we wanted done. The job was going to require decluttering, removing e-waste, shredding documents, and removing the carpet. She took pictures and notes and sent me an estimate later that day. Steri-clean was more expensive than a competing bid I received, but I felt better about who I was going to be working with with Steri-clean and so went with them. The estimate was taken right after the week of heavy rain, and so they weren't able to schedule right away, but that actually worked better for me personally. In the intervening few weeks, my family decided that rather than keep the furniture, we'd rather have it discarded or donated if possible. I contacted Katie the week before the job and she let me know the additional cost for discarding furniture, which I thought was reasonable. On the first day of the job, the crew of Damien, Natalie, and Matt were there early, were very courteous and friendly, and promptly got started on the garage. When the dump truck, which arrived with some items already in it, was rapidly filled, they continued working to 'stage' bags of trash, bins of items to shred, e-waste, and items to donate. I expressed concern over their ability to handle all that needed to be discarded, including the late addition of furniture, and the second day they arrived with two trucks (also early). The crew worked very hard, and did an amazing job. Throughout the job they were always early in the morning, left for lunch and were back right on time, and still made the extra effort of chatting with me a bit and making me feel at ease with what was going on in the house. Throughout the job they found items that they thought would be important to my family, like my grandfather's military medals, and set them aside. The only slight negative was communication of a few small details - I didn't realize that the payment would be broken down by each day. I had wanted to switch to a different credit card from the one I used for the deposit and wasn't prepared at the end of the first day. However, they were completely ready with a new authorization form for me on the second day. I chose Steri-clean, despite the cost, and I would do it again. The fact that they handled trash, ewaste, shredding, donations, and carpet removal all in one go was completely worth it. read more

I called Steri-Clean due to the reviews I read on Yelp and other places. My experience was not like what the other reviews say. The day I made the call I had been told that I could lose my house if I didn't have it cleaned in X number of days. The person I spoke to was so kind and gentle talking to me that she was able to help me stop crying and understand that everything will be ok. A few days later someone came over to assess the situation for a cost estimate. I knew it was going to be expensive because I am a hoarder and my house was almost literally a garbage heap. A couple of days later I get the estimate and just about passed out. $23k!! I was told that when the team left my house would be clean, no cobwebs, trash gone, carpets vacuumed and the kitchen and bathrooms deep cleaned. This was estimated to take 5 days. The team showed as scheduled on day one. They dug right in a moved so quick there was no way to keep an eye on all three of them. I had to work so I put my daughter in charge of the whole thing. She called me with updates and sent pictures through the entire process. The first update she actually called me because she overheard one of the people talking about her in a derogatory manner. I called Corporate to complain but it didn't change their demeanor at all. On day three, after less than an 8 hour day of working, they announced they were done and asked my daughter to sign that she accepted the work. When I got off work I went to the home and started crying the minute I stepped inside. There was still some trash on the floors and it was obvious that all the carpet had not been vacuumed nor had the cobwebs been all removed. And forget about a deep cleaning of the kitchen and baths, which I paid extra for. If how they clean is deep cleaning that is a very poor standard. The worst part is we are still discovering that some items we didn't want taken were taken. Sure, stuff can be replaced but I had already paid a ton of money to get the place clean and I didn't want to pay anymore than necessary to replace lost stuff. One thing they took was brand new, still in the wrapping cloth. I don't get how they could have thought it was trash. Besides that my daughter had told them not to take it specifically. I know that it was my fault how my house got so bad but I expected much more for the amount of money I paid.I even contacted corporate HQ to ask about a partial refund because they only took 3 days. Nope, not a penny is coming back to me. They estimate high and then work as fast as they can to maximize the profit. I certainly won't recommend this company to anyone unless you just need everything removed from a house. read more

They were very efficient and helped me to get rid of eWaste, old paperwork that needed to be shredded, and some other clutter in the garage. Matt was very patient waiting for me to go through staff in the garage and decide what needs to be thrown away making this experience for me very easy. The staff under the house that animals left was also cleaned up, a little too quickly, but I could not tell how good the clean up and sanitation was. I hired Steri-Clean to clear out an apartment full of 28 years' worth of junk, broken down furniture and garbage. They did a great job and never made me feel embarrassed about my situation. Although they certainly don't expect or require it, I worked right along side them bagging up garbage, and the process was very cathartic. From the initial estimate inspection to the moment the dumpster was driven away, the Steri-Clean Technicians made sure I was comfortable with every step of the process. There is one thing I would watch out for: if the members of your crew change during the project, make sure that the new crew members are clear about what items are to be included in the clean out. In my case, a box that was discussed with the techs who started the job was tossed out by a tech that joined the job later and didn't know it was supposed to be saved. While I'm disappointed by this, I completely understand how it happened, and it wouldn't stop me from hiring Steri-Clean again. It just didn't occur to me until too late that I should go over those things again with the new tech before going to work in another room. The Steri-Clean Techs really are very good about keeping an eye out for valuables and checking with the client for instructions. They are friendly, professional, and supportive. Their focus is to give their clients back their lives, and that's exactly what they did for me. The service is expensive, but it was worth every cent. Steri-Clean's Jon and Lisa to the rescue: After two months of my brother and I removing keepsakes and donating clothing, shoes, household items, and statues to Goodwill and the Salvation Army from our family home, we realized that the job was way too big for us to handle. During that time I happened to see part of an old episode of the show "Hoarding: Buried Alive" that included the name "Hoarders.com" on the side of the truck and a phone number. I researched the local (Hayward) facility and drove to it to check it out. I called the company and spoke to Stephanie. She was very helpful, explaining what Steri-Clean did. Soon after that, Todd came to the house to evaluate the condition, take photos, and explain what Steri-Clean could do. He was very professional and patient and answered my questions. A few days later we received a quote. I scheduled the work to be done in five days in mid-March. Jon and Lisa, with the help of Rebecca the first couple of days and Todd toward the end, moved a monumental amount of items, including furniture, out of the the house, and removed the ancient carpet and drapes. They sorted the items to donate, shred, recycle, or toss.
