The property is well maintained. The gym has just been renovated. It is a very safe and ideal spot. Did I mention they are extremely pet friendly!?!? I am so glad I was able to rent a 1 bedroom and 1 bathroom from Sterling Heights for the year of 2018. Sadly, my time with Sterling Heights is coming to an end. If I could, I would pack up Sterling Heights and bring them with me so I could live there FOREVER. Nice Apts but right adjacent to Highway 780 and all the accompanying toxic fumes not to mention the NOISE POLUTION. Club Pacifica is way nicer with mature landscaping. That said, more complete ADA compliance is much needed to welcome all ability levels including differently able and disabled residents. read more

I've been living at Sterling Heights for almost 1 year and my experience is great. The prices are definitely high but competitive for Benicia; however, the great customer service received from the Mary and the effective response to maintenance requests by Jose are excellent. Mary is an excellent manager and she always makes time to listen to my needs and help as needed. She is also very nice and empathetic which makes her a great person to deal with. In regards to maintenance requests are addressed very quickly and resolved in an effective way. Jose is very respectful and nice person. I like that he explains what was wrong and what was done. I'm really enjoying my stay here. Overall is a very nice place to live in, only downside is the price. The common amenities are well maintained and it is nice to have them! The team is A+. Great communication via phone and email with solid turn around times. The premises are always clean and garbage comes around regularly. The amenities are maintained but could use upgrades. Specifically the gym machines. Sometimes they work and when they don't, I sadden a bit because my motivation leaves the room before I do. The community activities are pleasant and provide a chance for socializing. The interior of the apartments are spacious and maintained properly by the awesome team. They do give off major 90s vibes specifically the carpet. The upgraded apartments aren't impressive but reduce the overall reminder that various shades of brown and tan were hip back then. I highly suggest living on the top floor for vaulted ceilings. They add depth to the overall look and feel of the place. The fireplace add a nice glow in the winter. It's great having plenty of parking space and bike storage. The outside noise is present but not overwhelming or unreasonable considering how close the complex is to the freeway. I worked and lived at Sterling Heights just shy of three years. It was the best work experience I have had Mary is a rock star and really knows her stuff. She is kind, fair, understanding and overall just a true professional. The management company Sequoia that manages the apartments is stellar. Never had a problem replacing or repairing things as needed. They take care of their residents and go above and beyond to accommodate residents needs. Sterling Heights has many resident events throughout the year from BBQs to taco trucks, paint nights, movie nights. It's a very pet friendly community the apartments are very spacious and floor plans are great. All units have full size washers and dryers in them. Parking was never an issue when I lived there plenty of parking for you and your guests. For apartments in benicia this is by far the best option hands down. read more

Since Ashley left, things have gone downhill. Multiple motorcycles are being stored in one parking space, even though the rules state a vehicle need to be moved every three days. There is a no smoking policy and it seems everyone smokes in their apartment. I can always tell when my neighbors are smoking weed. It used to be very nice, upscale, and now not so much. read more

Anytime I have submitted a maintenance request I have received a prompt response from Dan. Exceptional prompt services. My kids refer to him as Dan the Man! Whether it was changing light bulbs, replacing/ or servicing the plumbing and electricity, maintence quickly and thoroughly ensured that I have an optimal living environment. Lastly I want to thank Mary who's been a FANTATASIC property manager. Her professionalism, reliability and  customer service has been outstanding. Major pro - dog friendly. They even have poop baggy stations. The community is great; friendly neighbors and staff. Ashley, Javier and Jesus are always personable. The apt complex is fairly updated (floors, gym). There is a club house that you can rent out for free that I never took advantage of. They have a sauna too. There is only 1 pool and spa but it wasn't that busy during the summer. They have a car washing station and a tennis court and basketball court in the back of the complex. I love how they have community building events. They had a summer and fall event that was nice. They provided food and drinks and the property management staff and residents got to mingle. If you have kids, Robert Semple is just across the street..literally. Parking is not a problem at all. You are assigned 1 covered parking. Don't worry though because there are plenty of uncovered parking for all. Our 2 bedroom 2 bathroom apt was roomy. Each bedroom was a masterbedroom. One of them had a walk in closet. I loved the layout. Overall my experience here was a 4 out of 5. read more

They thing good I can say is the location at this point. Unfortunately my 2 year experience has been straight hell from my downstairs neighbor 1. Year 1 my neighbors smoked and always argued 2.I had relief for a few months and can breathe again. 3. Then the BS began 6 months ago. My downstairs smoke more marijuana than the pot store. And always have women shifting every 2-4 weeks, they all look like hookers or ladies of the night. This are young females that eventually get the police involved because of yelling, fighting and paying for their goods. I have complained to management and Corp and all I get is pandemic. I pay 2300 per month and have to human trafficking and weed. I see condoms, tampons, glass many times when I walk the complex. This place is going down....BE ware and watch your girl children read more

So this place has mice. Literally infested with mice. Not all apartments apparently but if you want to move in and roll the dice, good luck. This place is so infested with mice when you call the office panicked to notify them you have rats, they nonchalantly correct your statement to mice. They know they have this problem! You'll then receive a good amount of mice traps and be told the maintenance team will gladly remove them once caught. True I guess if its caught during maintenance hours and the maintenance man isn't too busy. Once you've caught your first mouse you'll more than likely have to dispose of it yourself, so make sure that lil bastard is really on that trap ok? Ok! So once the pest control company comes by ON THEIR NORMAL SCHEDULE whenever that may be, they'll take a look around and plug whatever entry ways that are visible. This most likely won't correct your issue just like it didn't correct ours. Hopefully devastated you'll continue to lay out traps and pray you'll stop catching them eventually. We moved out with the problem still occurring. To this day, seeing something move out of the corner of my eye makes me question if it's a rodent in my home. TL:DR: This place is infested with mice to the knowledge of the office which does minimal action to correct the problem. Now have PTSD about mice in home. read more

I've had a few maintenance requests since moving to this apartment complex. The property management/maintenance team has been very responsive in helping resolve the maintenance requests ASAP! The community is clean and quiet. There're always parking spots available. It can be a bit noisy since it's close to the highway, but closing the windows solves that problem. My husband and I relocated to Sterling Heights after my husband suffered a bad fall in our home. We needed a safe, stair-less apartment that could accommodate our dog and would provide a warm, comforting environment for him to recuperate in. I am happy to say, Sterling Heights fit the bill! When I explained the problem to Ashley, the manager there, she immediately arranged to adapt the apartment to suit our needs. They put hand rails into the bathroom and modified the shower so he would be able to use it in a sitting position. They removed doors that were in his way and made sure everything was easily accessible to him. They have a gym that he used frequently as he recovered to strengthen his legs. The apartments are nicely sized and well appointed, and the grounds surrounding them are lovely. There are lots of walking paths for the doggies (the apartments are pet friendly!) and I found my neighbors to be warm and inviting. It was a very restful, quiet, peaceful experience. The real stars of the apartment living experience though were the people who manage the place. Ashley the manager, Javier, the leasing agent and Jesus, the maintenance manager were always there and and eager to make our rental experience pleasant. My pug, Nutmeg loved visiting them (especially Javier, her special favorite!) and we frequently ambled down there just to say hi. My husband and I have finally returned to our home but we will be sure to stop by to visit the folks at Sterling Heights whenever we can and can wholeheartedly recommend renting there. read more

I've lived here for about 10 months now. Jesus - the service manager is hands down awesome. I've built a great relationship with the entire staff here at Sterling Heights. Ashley, Javier, and Jesus are always there to help you and are always pleasant through the experience. I moved into a unit where the previous renter was evicted from, and heard the apartment was not in good shape. By my move in date, I had new carpet, new paint, and it was spotless. My dishwasher recently broke, and it was replaced within a day! My only downfall, is the highway noise... wish I had known that before moving into a unit that is closer to the highway, but it was my first time moving somewhere on my own. read more

I'm updating my review in response to Dee Dees (the Managers) reply to my review. I've spoken with Dee Dee and voiced my concerns with her and Karla both to no avail. These conversations all took place prior to my publishing this review on Yelp. Her response is the typical attempt at appearing pragmatic that I've come to expect from the community management. I've filled out surveys, submitted reviews, and answered questions from the management of both Sterling Heights and Sequoia Equities. Also, I've since completed the home inspection with Jason (Maintenance Manager), Karla was not present (thankfully). I found Jason's approach to my questions to be far more professional. He genuinely understood my concerns and was diplomatic about his answers and explanations. This is consistent with all my interactions with him during my tenure. Unfortunately I don't feel that his 5 star service is able to compensate for the shortcomings of the corporate and management offices. read more

The experience matters! I've lived here since November 2013, moving from Travis Air Force Base. Andrea, Karen, and Jason are the best at what they do and their level of customer service exceeds that of military housing. I'm 6'2" and when I moved in the shower head was chest level for me. I called and that same day, Jason came and installed a pipe that curved up. That same day! I've had to call him several times for other issues and his response time is unbelievable!! He provides excellent customer service and always shows up with a smile. I've lived at Sterling Heights Apartment Homes for 3 years. At first, I thought this apartment complex would be the ideal place to spend my time here. It's quiet and nobody bothers you.I never had an issue until this past year. I've encountered more mice in my apartment than I've ever could imagine. I've complained about this when I heard them in the walls. Then one day, I find 5 dead rodents under my kitchen sink. 3 more mice popped out of nowhere and ran across my living room. Instead of addressing the problem, all I receive are mouse traps in my kitchen and laundry room. I don't even feel comfortable cooking anymore because of this. The last straw occurred when 2 mice jumped out of the vent and landed on my countertop. I couldn't even run my air conditioner. Thankfully, this past summer wasn't brutally hot. I have a dog and he's the only pet that I agreed to pay the pet rent for . Not for Mickey, Minnie and their extended family. I know that I can't be the only one here that is experiencing this issue.This has become such a hinderance that I'm breaking my lease and moving to a much cleaner area. read more

My girlfriend and I had lived here for two years and had to unfortunately move to a new location. After being out of this apartment complex for nearly a year we truly miss this apartment facility. Ashley, Jesus, and Javier knew our name within the first year and were always kind. Jesus is the only maintenance guy on the property and had the fastest turn around time on work orders. At my current apartment complex they take a week or longer to get around to work orders and that's with a team of maintenance people. Every time he came into our apartment, he was always friendly and I was able to have a few great conversations with him, even helped recommend a place for a haircut since we were new to the area. Ashley and Javier have been amazing when it comes to questions in the office. They also made sure that notices came in a timely fashion regarding any changes or construction that was happening on the property. During the holidays, the package room would become a stressful war room of packages but they were always polite when asking about packages. Lastly, I think Sequoia is an amazing property management company. One day before Thanksgiving we had our garbage disposal break, I put in the order and forgot about, thinking that it wasn't going to be until next week. We had a substitute repairman come in that day because Jesus was out. He was able to figure out the issue, have a replacement part and fix the disposal by the end of the day, which was amazing! I don't remember the repair mans name but that's when I realized Sequoia takes care of it's employees and residents. During the Tubbs Fire in Sonoma County 2017, the Sequoia property team was helping house people temporary for the families that were displaced. I don't know anyone who took up this service but that fact that they were able to help out during that emergency in the only way they knew how spoke tremendously to how much they seem to care. read more

Sterling Heights is a great community. Sadly, I was only able to live in the complex for one month because I had to move out of state for work. However, after explaining my situation to the management they were extremely understanding and helpful when it came to moving out. I wasn't sure if I'd be able to break my lease easily, but the office staff made it extremely easy for me. I hated to leave because the community was so wonderful, quiet, and clean. It was a really wonderful place and the people were incredibly friendly and helpful. If I ever get the opportunity to move back I would do it for sure. Karen and Ashley were both incredibly friendly and did a lot to make me feel like Sterling Heights was my home. I'm super glad I got to live where while I did. read more

When I arrived in California from New York the first person I met was Javier at the Sterling Heights Apartment Complex. My transition was made so easy by his attentiveness and knowledge of his community. Ashley and Jesus round out this professional team in a most friendly and accommodating way. They all put the customer back into "Customer Service" which occurs to me as rare in our world of technology. The complex is quiet and always kept clean. The trees and landscaping give it a nice quaint touch. We love our unit as it's located on the 3rd floor. The 3rd floor has vaulted ceilings making apartment living a wonderful experience. The stairs overtime become easier. It's a little bit of a workout. Your own stair master. We always joke and say the 2nd floor to the third is where we "feel the burn" lol. I've had friends and family always comment on how nice our unit is otherwise. Our neighbors are awesome and everyone in this complex has a dog or two. Barking isn't a problem unless something sets them all off. It's like their communicating with each other lol. So cute to see all different pups going for their walks. Waste bags are located throughout the complex which is smart! The Manager Ashley and Karen have always been approachable and extremely helpful. They've been transparent from the beginning. Since we see more of our Maintenance guy he is so nice and we had a couple of conversations here and there. He's even opened my unit, as I locked my keys in my car. We also have a pool and work out center with sauna usage that is completely underutilized. You sometimes find that your the only one there. Lived here for a year, and loved it. We had the nicest neighbor across the hall, and other neighbors nearby. The manager Ashley is the kind est apartment manager Ive ever met. Jesus the maintenance man is so friendly, the leasing agent Javier, so nice. The grounds were always taken care of, always ample parking, quiet at night, they even hosted holiday partys! The entire area around the complex is clean and well kept, the gym/pool/hot tub area is really nice, and mostly importantly, the office staff (Ashley, Jesus, & Javier) are phenomenal, helpful, and always have a smile on their faces no matter the amount of trips you make to the office. I've lived here for over a year now since September 2013. I'm very happy with my experience at Sterling Heights. My 1 bedroom apartment is very nice. I haven't had any issues with anything breaking or not working. I just needed a new lighting fixture for my dinning room and Jason immediately left me a new bulb at my door. If ever I have a package delivered while I'm at work, Karen in the Leasing Office has either put it in my apartment or left it at my door. Everyone here has been extremely helpful and friendly. The neighbors are nice and its a very quiet complex. They are also very pet friendly. I liked it so much I even renewed my lease and I was surprised that my rent did not go up thru the roof when I renewed. I moved from my apartment at Sterling Heights in Benicia in April 2016. I have to say this was a great place to live. I sold my home just prior to moving here and needed a place for 6 months while my next home was being built. I am grateful that Sterling Heights had availability for me and my little Shitzu. This is a great place to live if you have pets. The grounds are well maintained and with their "doggie DNA policy" you will never have to worry about stepping into a dog mess. Neighbors were friendly and respectful. Apartments are nice and well maintained. Very nice community and apt homes to live in. Great for kids and they even take pets! :-). The office staff plans and hosts many events for all the residents to attend.
