It is a safe and cozy apartment complex located on the border of Pleasant Hill and Concord. Super convenient whenever I needed to grocery shop, go for a walk with my dog, grab a bite to eat, and go the mall. Rarely did I ever have any maintenance issues and when I did, management and maintenance were on top. Even minor issues like parking, Leanna always made sure I felt heard and addressed the issue that day. By far one of the worst apartments!! I lived here for about 3 years and the worse part was the horrible communication and how hard it was to ever get a hold of every leasing manager since I've been here. Leanna is the current leasing manager. The leasing office opens at 9. Rarely would there be anyone at that time. Sometimes there would be a sign saying will be back at a certain time, but she would never be back at that time listed. I would call the leasing office and rarely would anyone pick up. Most of the time you couldn't even leave a voicemail because the voicemail would be full and the rare times when you could leave a voicemail, she wouldn't return your call. To the point that I would have to walk to the leasing office and at times find her there or not at all. Even when I would email her, I would rarely get a response back. They have shut off our water multiple times with sometimes no notice. One time they shut off our hot water and said it would be back by the end of the day, which it was a Friday. My hot water never returned and I was out of hot water for the entire weekend! I wasn't able to reach anyone at the office nor was an emergency maintenance number given. I recently moved out a little over a month and still have not received my security deposit. 2 weeks ago I called multiple times, will no response. Emailed, with no response. Texted Leanna. Still no response. After a few days, I called again and was able to get a hold of her. She told me to wait by the end of the week because it's coming from Utah. I asked for the tracking info which she wasn't able to provide me. 2 weeks later, still no check. I called this Wednesday and surprisingly she picked up. I told her it's been 2 weeks, a total of over a month and I still haven't gotten anything and she needs to escalate this situation, call her boss and give me answers by the end of the day. Of course no update by the end of the day, which I called before the office closed and no answer. Left a message and no call back. Called Thursday the following day. Still no call. Called today which is Friday and still no call. I no longer live there and to be still dealing with this horrible communication is frustrating. Do not live at these apartments! read more

Hello, we have been dealing with this issue for the last month and a half to two months now. First there was the terrible odor of sewage, and now there seems to be a broken line because raw sewage has exploded out of the sewage line and onto our community lawn, it has exploded onto our walkway, and now my neighbors apartment, her bathroom is overflowed with raw sewage that traveled from her bathroom into her hallway. No one from Sun Valley management team or Sun Valley maintenance team, is answering the after hours the emergency telephone number. It's a very pretty apartment complex, but it is hard to deal with this especially since it's been about 2 months now with no real solution. The alarming part of this is that I'm pretty sure this is a health hazard because we're all inhaling these terrible fumes, it smells really bad, and it's all over the grass in puddles. read more

Pros: -Close to EVERYTHING!!! School, shopping, job opportunities. Hard to be bored! -Pool is often empty, you'll have it to yourself half the time -Generally friendly neighbors :,) There's a few people I genuinely miss Cons: -Black mold everywhere. Mgmt did nothing about this. Simply told me "just wipe it off" Our neighbors had to move units due to the mold -Our washing machine clogged at least twice a month because it was so old and janky. -No one is ever in the office, and no one ever answers the phones. You need a repair? You have an issue? Good luck. Sometimes there's multiple people waiting around, and I've sat out there for an hour before, but no one has all day to spend sitting outside the office -We were given SEVERAL "Notice to Pay or Quit" over the 2 years, aka they claimed we didn't pay rent when we DID!! They even lost one of my checks and I had to write a new one, and call my bank to cancel the old one. -Literal spousal abuse on every floor and cops being called once a week. I could hear screaming and crashing every couples days. Cops were always coming by. -Silverfish and other bug infestations. Don't even wanna go there. Traumatizing -Apartment had extensive damage when we moved in. My fault for getting too excited and overlooking the damaged floors, doors, oven, stove, garbage disposal (which started leaking not long after moving in) Our wall literally had a hole in it where the window was installed, just out of view. Always wondered why it was so cold inside, until the apartment flooded during a storm :) and they had to come tear down the window and rebuild that wall section -Neighbors or workers doing construction at all hours of the day and night. I've been living here since last year and this place has been so much better than my last apartment. Leanna was able to show me apartments on a couple of different occasions until we found a unit I liked. She streamlined the application process and made things super easy. Whenever I need maintenance they're able to come by the same day, and even after hours on one occasion so I was super grateful for that! I don't have problems with bugs or mold either, unlike my previous apartment. DO NOT MOVE HERE UNTIL YOU'VE READ THIS! Ok. I'm not gonna tell anyone what to do. But read what i've been through and you decide what you are willing to subject yourself to. First off, management has no interest in the safety of your person or your belongings. I've personally been here three years and peoples apartments have been broken into. Their cars stolen or windows broken out to gain access to the things inside. I've seen people pull guns out on others in the parking lot as well. Me personally, along with another tenant. Have had our cars towed by management out of the spots we pay for without justification. Mine was towed day after i paid rent so i could not afford to get it out of the tow yard and lost my vehicle. the other tenant paid $500.00 to get his out. When he spoke with management about it. They said it was their fault and to submit his receipt and they would reimburse him. He complied and provided them all info requested. Unfortunately they never reimbursed him a single cent. Also management is aware of the rampant vehicle vandalism and theft yet do nothing to protect your belongings. I stopped someone luckily from attempting to steal my motorcycle right out of my spot. I filed a police report and the officer went to the management to see if the cameras had caught anything. He was told the cameras don't work anymore. So they knew about the attempted theft at that point. Fast forward 3-4 months later. They return and steal my bike. i file a police report. officer goes to management. Yup, you guessed it. No cameras. The maintenance man came to my door and asked if i had a case number because "they take this kind of thing very seriously." I provided him with the info and now its 5 months later and still no cameras no security no gate not even a follow up from management. Bike was found torched in Baypoint. So basically its cost me $15,000 in lost vehicles to live here. $5,000 being directly caused by management. the other 10k. partially in part to negligence at least. Though i understand they are responsible for crime. To take no measures at all to protect the residents. Is deplorable. So they wont tell you but the rate of vehicle thefts here and break ins is very high. be warned. read more

BAILEY IS PROBABLY THE BEST THING THAT HAPPEN TO THIS COMPLEX! He has gave so many helpful resources for those that need help with r backed up rent and people who need moving in assistance programs. Part 3b - I try to provide suggestions whenever I've had a poor experience with a business, the list below is what was listed in the original 2018 Yelp post.  Some Suggestions for the Management: 1. When a package arrives, call the receiver & let them know 2. Call Tenants 2 days in advance to confirm ' scheduled' maintenance appointments 3. Call tenants in the order of the scheduled maintenance appointment, when/if maintenance has to cancel their day.  4. Ensure Apartments have been re-keyed before renting to the next tenant 5. List Apartment Homes in the actual city, or the nearby cities to remove miscommunication - Sun Valley Apartments DOES NOT border Walnut Creek 6. List the actual rental price of units, and explain price discrepancies amongst other rents listed on other advertising or rental platforms 7. Have a brochure created with the different floor plans listed, properly displayed, with a list of their amenities, but explain in the tour which units are actually available or coming up for availability 8. If it's in the budget or doable, create consistency amongst the apartments, i.e. the laundry room in my apartment had shelves, while other units did not, even though space was available. Not all units have gas ranges, gas is more budget-friendly and economical than electric 9. Have Extra storage units in the patios for all downstairs units available 10. Make the sliders to the back patio, lockable and accessible for key entry in & out 11. Somewhere, somehow have visitor parking spaces available elsewhere on the property to everyone, so visitors cars aren't parked a few feet behind cars in designated parking spaces - there's no reason, tenants should have to make a 5 point turn to get out of the parking area and then have to back up out of the area they're parked in, to get to the main drive space. 12. Remove the CAM & Sewer charges, don't charge the tenants. 13. Do not permit outside vendors from harassing tenants. Vendors should have the maturity to not bother or engage with tenants, unless the tenants engage first. But when I lived in these Apts, there was a group of construction workers who interrupted my day, thought plan & even performed an act of stalking. Furthermore, if I chose not to engage, a couple of the construction workers would get angry & say something mean about me. One day, it was really hot & I was nice enough to set out 4 bottles of frozen waters for them to refresh and cool off with. The next day, I didn't leave my apt but heard two of the workers say outside my bedroom window, 'Hey! Bring us some water' and they proceeded to knock on my bedroom window, as if I was their servant. I was merely being kind, but in these Apts kindness makes you more of a target for hate & to be poorly treated. It's too bad, the property management co. didn't contract with a better construction co. with maturer workers, or better quality workers. They messed up on the parking spaces lines, turning single parking spaces into tandem parking spaces, via the lines. And they only worked like 4 hrs the days they actually showed up, which was few & far btwn. Most days, the workers would arrive around 11a & leave around 3p, on very rare occasions would they arrive btwn 10a & 10:30a. B/c of hate & abuse from tenants & staff, my career & potential career of what I'd built for 25yrs was destroyed & demolished. Being employed is/was taboo & not allowed. Being irresponsible & rude is highly valued, depression & poverty is advocated. Chauvinism reigns in Pleasant Hill! 4/15/2020 - Ashley Onzo, property mgr as of 3/2020 called to rectify the poor experience I had, in 2017. But b/c my residency was so long ago, there wasn't anything she could do, except give full refund which of course couldn't happen b/c it wasn't in her control. Ashley offered her sincerest apology for the way I was mistreated & wished there was some way or something she could do to fix it. She asked me to remove my review as it was impacting her work & performance directly, but instead of removing my review which completes the original review posted in early 2018, I told her I'd input an explanation to the review's readers, that my review is from a poor experience I suffered thru in 2017 & the current management should in not be affected by what happened in 2017 and the lack of service & care at the time of my residency. I lived here for 3 years and throughout the entirety of my stay, management was extremely unresponsive, maintenance issues took months to be resolved if ever at all, and multiple tenants are vacating their apartments. This complex once was decent, but after multiple property managers leaving it seems as though they just gave up on running a livable and enjoyable location. Do not rent unit #50 or from this place at all. I moved in 01/03/2019 and moved out 04/12/2019 and the unit is already up for rent. That typically wouldn't be an issue however this unit has black mold and they refuse to fix it let alone reimburse me for my entire bedroom furniture and clothing that was ruined let alone my medical costs and get bills. Had I not want a specific pair of jeans that still had the tag on them that night I wouldn't of found it. 4/4/19 I found black mold not only in my closet but on the floor under my bed, my rug, my bed frame,my mattress and the wall which my face literally lined up with when I was sleeping. I notified the property manager and she acted as if she was concerned, advised me my belongings would be reimbursed and they would take immediate action. If taking grease cleaner and wiping it off the wall with that is how you take action then that shows how. Much you truly care for your renters. Not only have I had to email them more then 10'times and still yet to have an answer to when I will if at all be reimbursed for my belongings since they want to play the let's rule all possibilities out other then take ownership of neglect. The floors have water seeping through and when asked the property manager just shrugged her shoulders and said idk what to say. No where between then and the date I moved was immediate safe living offered, a reading of 17% moisture was found in both bedrooms which ca health felt states anything 12% and below is optimal and any where higher up to 17% drywall needs to be replaced. These people will not respond to my emails or phone calls nor do they realize what kind of legal actions can be taken on my end due to neglect. I must add as well no walk through was performed, the heater and washer were replaced with in the first two months of living there, then mold was discovered and I was never in person when my credit was ran, lease was signed or when keys were picked up. She didn't even request to meet me so who knows how ethical the procedures of gaining personal information as well a business practices. I urge you not to rent from these people it is a crime they have not found the issue because after reading their reviews I'm not the only one this has happened to and I also know many residents on the property that are having mold issues and nothing is being done for them As you can see based on managements reply they are not taking this serious regarding the mold issues being had. This apartment is not safe to live it after moving out I've noticed a huge increase in energy, breathing, sleeping and quality of life has increased. Also after moving from apartment 50 to the new apartment Ellen let me rent which was apartment 27 I complained for months about the disgusting odor in the apartment I even spoke to the neighbors in the building all of them claiming the same issue as me. Yes a plumber was sent out but as I explained to Ellen I don't believe it had to do with the drains it was in the bedroom and kitchen cabinets which were never checked and only after I sent ellen information from my doctor stating that the smell was giving me migraines and making me ill did she bother to do anything. I also had no heat in my unit and that unit also had a roach issues these apartments are ran terribly and by terrible managers. Say what you want but at no point did anyone try to help at no point did you guys bother to help me with anything or fix anything in my apartment. I have never lived anywhere that treats tenants so badly and doesn't do anything to fix the issues with an apartment. Like I said if you want to lose everything you own because they will let either roaches or mold destroy your stuff this is a great place to live. It's sad when you live some where and you are afraid that you will have roaches or things will be ruined. It's sad that I thought I had found a nice place to live lost everything I owned and they didn't care. And I took them to small claims court to get some type of reimbursement for my items and they are now refusing to pay me the money from the judgement and are ignoring all requests for the money. Ellen is a very unpleasant person to deal with and Michelle won't even bother to help you at all. It's a sad situation that they can sleep at night after everything they have done to me. Not sure how anyone can be ok costing someone everything they have causing so much stress and sickness that I had a miscarriage and think that it's ok to then try to bad mouth me on here by saying I didn't pay my rent in full. Truth is I didn't pay my last month of rent because they refused to fix my unit and I had no heat. The only reason they returned my security deposit is cause I threatened to sue them for no heat and me being so severely sick from my apartment. I came to the area as a travel nurse. I was looking for a cozy, safe apartment and I'm glad I was able to find it with sun valley! The area is very safe and well lit. The apartment is nice and pretty comfortable. I did have an issue with someone parking in my spot but Laura the manager has been wonderful and quickly solved the issue. Do not live here unless you want your mail repeatedly stolen! Someone apparently has a master key to all of the mailboxes. My mail has been stolen for months and nothing has been done about it. $10,000 from my prepaid visa that was stolen from my mailboxes, my daughters outfit for a photo shoot that was not cheap, etc. ridiculous. This is a great place if you have a damaged credit score, they rent for anyone as long as you can pay, large dogs are allowed. The buildings have thin paper walls, so no privacy, but it doesn't matter as long as you can party all night long and the management doesn't interfere. The only thing I didn't like is the continuous car break-ins and full garbage containers all the time! read more

The complex is under a new management company as of March 2016, and I have serious concerns about their business practices and conduct. When we recently moved away, the company has persistently refused to refund rent and deposit owed to us -- while also charging rent to the new tenants in the same apartment unit (it is illegal to double charge for the same rent in the state of California). Unless something changes, can't possibly recommend this property to anyone under any circumstances. read more

We are current residents in this amazing community. I cannot speak highly enough of our experience thus far! Erica, the new property manager, is incredibly organized, personable, and professional. She took the time to stage our unit prior to our visit and she made sure to conduct a masked, safely distanced tour. At move-in, she presented us with a thoughtful folder including all necessary paperwork and keys. She also worked quickly to assign our parking spaces. The unit itself is spacious and well maintained. High ceilings, large windows, updated hardwood floors, and a large AC unit all make for a pleasant environment. We have a HUGE patio (perfect for my plants!) that opens up onto a grassy, dog-friendly lawn and large pool area! We intend to be proud residents of Sun Valley for years to come! I lived here for a year from Spring 2013 to Spring 2014. Pros: - Awesome location -- super close to Safeway, Goodwill, Sun Valley Mall, freeways and more. It's super convenient to get anywhere from this location, honestly. - SUPER nice management. Marcy is awesome. Very straightforward and honest with you. They are always friendly and helpful too. They were most always on top of things pretty well -- I'd say like 80-90% of the time. - Awesome amount of closet space. I don't even know how one could possibly use it all -- there's so much. - Plenty of bedroom and living room space. - Nice deck area - Pool - On-site laundry (but, they still aren't in your apartment and you do have to pay). Cons: - Super thin walls. I could always hear my neighbors talking and knew what they were watching on TV. - Small kitchen and bathroom. The counter space is OK but not great by any means. When making the apartments, they could've easily just took out some living room or dining room space to make more kitchen area and it would've been a bit better. - Water temperature in the shower always fluctuates. One second its freezing and the next you're getting burned. It was like that the whole time I was there too. - Used to be more reasonably priced, but it seems they are jacking up the prices quite a bit since I have moved out and they are going up more rapidly. Management are wonderful, Marcy and Renee are Great. One time I had a complain about the noise around 11:00pm call Marcy and even if she was off office hours she took care of my complain and the noise stop. IF they are out of town, there is also a guy name Kevin who takes care of the place and always ask," How is your day?" Not like other people I met and only want the rent check. He acknowledges the tenants. The grounds are always well maintained. Plenty of light and the location is perfect. Movies theater, shopping, restaurant, and grocery store are near by. Apartment is spacious, had a large patio and the patio wall are tall so you have privacy. Laundry machines are well equipped. Landscape are maintain. Plenty of guest parking. Had to move due to job. We had to reschedule a few times and every time I called she accommodated and answered all our millions of questions with a great attitude. The complex itself was clean and behind a Korean bbq restaurant, which is a plus. The apartments modern and cozy. Lived here for a year with no problems. Nice neighbors, clean/safe premises, and great/responsive staff (Brandee and Rudy are great)! There is always some kind of renovations or site upgrades going on in the property which is a good sign. It is within walking distance to Posh Bagel, EL Aguila Taqueria, Honda Sushi, Outback, and other places I will miss going to often. I would rent here again if I wasn't moving out of the area. I do agree with other reviews on the thin walls though I had very respectful neighbors and this was never an issue. The location of these apartments is really great. You're within walking distance of so much, but it's set back from the main road so you don't get all the noise from Contra Costa. It can be confusing to people who expect to see you right on CC Blvd, but worth it to be back in the quieter space. I lived in these apartments for three years from 2012-2015. It's a really nice complex, I was lucky to have a second story end unit and a great parking spot. In 2015 when it was time to renew my lease I was told that they wouldn't sign a new lease or extension with me. My rent was going to increase by over 30% and would be month to month. I assume this was a tactic to get all the older tenants out to remodel the apartments which are now going for almost double what I was paying. It sucked to have to move out of there, but I just couldn't afford that. I had no problems with the newer management - they were really nice to me, let me out of my lease without penalty a month early when I found a new place and they gave me my entire security deposit back no questions asked since they were remodeling the apartment anyway. I do understand that there was less of a homey/family vibe with them versus the prior property managers, but they were always very nice and accommodating with me. read more

New management is not personable at all. They are also never available! Every time I go by the office, there's always an 'be back later' sign, and more than a handful of times the office person just never returns. Another problem, is when I do get a hold of someone, this person always says he's covering for another person and that he doesn't know anything. Very frustrating. Also there seems to be a monthly increase in the utilities in this place. I've lived here for a year, and I've never had any unannounced increases. Then this new company took over, and suddenly I'm being charged left and right. It's just not worth it anymore. The apartments themselves look very nice on the inside after the remodel (Michael did a wonderful job). BUT, and it's a big but (haha), the walls are so thin you hardly have any privacy. You can hear entire conversations through the wall. If your neighbor has a barking dog or upset baby? Goodbye peace. At night, you can hear people snoring through the walls. Leering staff. Unsafe apartments (sewage backup into bathtub, faulty electrical wiring, unsafe wall heater, crime)... rent is way too much for what you get. My fiance lived here, and recently moved. The management even asked her to write a positive yelp comment, so I would question any positive reviews here. They have now withheld much of the security deposit, and have not provided adequate proof of any work done to justify, which is understandable because the place was left in better condition than when it was rented. OK people listen up!! (Or maybe don't listen up as I don't want to give my secret hiding place away) Living in Sun Valley Apartments is just what living in a small apartment complex should be like. I recently moved from a large and well know apartment complex in this much smaller much more compacted apartment complex. When I moved out of my previous apartments I was very dissatisfied with apartment living, I was feeling pretty down about how apartment buildings within the area are treating their tenants, and I was very dejected about finding a place that I could really make feel like home. Then it happened! One night I decided to make a quick stop to this little apartment building tucked off the street on Contra Costa and I am so glad that I did. When I first walked in I was greeted by Kevin (one of the staff at the apartment building). He was friendly and helpful, full of solid answers and really took my concerns about apartment living to heart. I explained about my reasons for moving out of my old place and even told him some of the troubles I was having with my previous apartment complex. He listened to me, smiled a little and assured me I would haven non of those problems here and he was right!!! On top of Kevin, there is on site management run by a cute little couple Marcy and Renee. You really can't ask for more of a "homey" feel. They have made me feel at home from the moment I moved in. If I ever have any trouble with the apartment or a concern with something on the grounds, Renee takes care of it right away! :) Marcy is lovely and personable, always take the time to say hello and chit chat a bit. Any time I need anything I am always assured by either of them to just ask or to swing by the office, as they are constantly telling me, "Our door is open if you ever need anything." Lastly, let's talk about my apartment. I live in a lovely little 2 bedroom with stainless steel appliances and tile floors. There is a cute little ceiling fan, plenty of windows to let in light, and PLENTY PLENTY of closet space. I have no complaints about hearing any of my neighbors, as a little bit of filtered noise is really to be expected!! (come on people....this is apartment living after all) Nothing ever too loud or out of control. I have a HUGE patio, 2 available swimming pools, and on-site laundry! I plan on calling Sun Valley my home for some time and I am so glad that happened upon this place when I did!! I love it! read more

Gone Downhill We lived at Sunvalley for 2 years. They've gone through 3 property managers and the property has gone downhill tenant wise. Loud parties and loud neighbors. Several large families moved in and there is constant screaming and crying and yelling and door slamming by the adults as much as the children (which is to be expected from young kids). Cops show up regularly now and some tenants are too lazy to take their full trash bags to the dumpsters and just leave them by the stairs and mailbox area for someone else to clean up. The walls are very thin so you will hear everything. Also, it's near impossible to talk to someone in the office because they are never there. The "be back" clock is never accurate. The only person we saw regularly was the maintenance person, who worked really hard to keep things tidy and running. The water and trash bill is split amongst the building tenets, which is fine, but with Covid and the pool closed the large families are filling up small pools for their kids. My July bill was twice what it usually is and that really sucked. read more

Sun Valley Apartments is a great place to live! The apartments are about 5-15 minutes from Safeway, Trader Joe's, Sun Valley Mall, movie theater, the list goes on. I rented a 2 bedroom furnished apartment and the rent was very reasonable for the bay area. The only reason I left was to be closer to work but if it wasn't for that, I would still be living there. All the units have been newly renovated with stainless steel appliances, new floors, new bathrooms and new kitchens. There are 2 pools in the property, plenty of guest parking, the landscaping was maintained very well, pets allowed and best of all the staff is very friendly and accommodating. I have a dog it was so easy walking him around the property. The area is very quiet and very safe. I have no complaints or issues while I lived there. Michael and his assistant Lexi are great people. They will always go out of there way to help you and make sure your residency with them is comfortable and pleasant. They are quick with responding and very flexible with your requests. I have nothing but good words to say about them. I would highly recommend renting here if anyone is looking for a new place to call home. read more

Do not believe the lies from management when they tell you it has been "remodeled". This is an old, terribly built property with MOLD, broken appliances, and no insulation. You can hear every word from your neighbors. Every cus word, cell phone ring, screaming child, parties, loud sex. This place is a nightmare. Within 1 month into our unit, we had mold growing on our bathroom, bedroom walls and clothes from moisture. We called management several times with no help. We purchased dehumidifiers that wouldn't work against the intense moisture from no insulation. The unit smelled disgusting. Please look at the pictures of large patches of black mold covering the closets and bathroom walls. Mold is toxic - ESPECIALLY TO KIDS AND ANIMALS. This place is not safe! They cover it up when people move out so you don't know what you're getting into. If you have dogs, there will be several running around off leash and barking all day. Ours were sick within the first months of being there and had to be rushed to the vet. You will never get to park in your "assigned" parking spot because people are allowed to park anywhere. The pool gate is not kept locked. Homeless people live in the garbage enclosure and the neighborhood has gotten substantially worse in the last few years. This place needs to be shut down. read more

Terrible place to rent. I lived here for a year and left because they sent me 15 day notice 2 times because "i didn't pay rent" even though I paid rent on time every month. Their management is a mess. The managers lost 2 money orders (which were handed to them personally) gave them to cover our rent and then when I went to their office to ask about the notice letters they asked me to recover the money orders for them. This took about 6 months of us going back and forth and every time I had to deal with a new manager. They found the 2nd money order and updated their records, but the 1st money order was never found. We decided to move out and wanted to resolve this before moving. I sent them the new money order and the management company deducted over 300 dollars more from our deposit because of the lost money order. You would think they would take responsibility because they are the ones that lost the MO, but instead they deducted the fees from our deposit. I tired talking to Ellen and she would not answer my calls, management would always say they couldn't do anything but wait to talk to Ellen. I never got the money reimbursed. Please Save your money and find another place to rent. read more

Great place to rent. All the apartments have been remodeled and have every amenity you could imagine. The property management, Brandee Guest, was an absolute pleasure to work with. This is a great place to live! My wife and I recently had to move out due to the fact that we both work in San Francisco but if it was not for that we would have happily stayed. The property is always very clean and usually very quiet. In the year I was there I don't even think I heard one loud party on a weekend. I used to come home very late at night and never felt creeped out or unsafe walking from my car to the apartment. The management is very helpful will usually respond to your concern same day. They are also super approachable and very nice people. That is not always easy to find in building management. The one bedroom apartment we rented was big enough to comfortably fit us and the closet space was pretty good too. It was also nice that we had a good sized private patio. I very much recommend living here if you are looking in the Pleasant Hill or Concord area. read more

I stopped by with no appointment looking for a one bedroom apartment after I was scolded at a neighboring community for not having an appointment. Brandee was so pleasant, she was thorough with her tour and overall just really pleasant to deal with. You can tell the complex is old, but they did a really nice job with the renovations that they completed. It is unfortunate that the job I accepted took me to a whole different area otherwise I would have definitely rented here. read more

Sun Valley Apartments are a breath of fresh air! I rented a one bedroom for my short term stay in the area as a Travel Nurse. My expectations were surpassed with the pleasant staff, cleanliness of the apartment and grounds, and the gorgeous views. Some of my favorite things to do were to take a dip in the pool or chill out at the Starbucks just down the block! I loved the friendly atmosphere of the complex and all the amenities that were included with my apartment. The Sun Valley Apartment staff left no stone unturned when it came to the efficiency of their services. I would recommend this apartment complex to any of my fellow travel nurses, friends and family in the Bay area. Great place for a short term stay or even as a permanent home! From my perspective, this apartment is an excellent place to live! Moreover, I say that is because of the living condition, safety, and location. Regarding living condition, this apartment is great, since I am a student in dvc, I've been lived in a different apartment that located in Pleasant Hill. In my opinion, this is the best; the laundry room has a lot of washer/dryer, so you don't have to wait. This apartment provides free wifi access to all resident, so you don't have to pay the internet. Moreover, the place is very quiet since most of the residents in here aren't the college student. Furniture is very new too. I live very happily in these two years. Regarding safety, this place is safe, if you are living near DVC, you will really see the difference, two of my friends got robbed in there.... In contrast, I haven't seen any robbery that happens here. Last but no least, the reason for me to give a high rating is because of the location. 5 min walking to ace hardware, 1 min walking to Chop Chop Korean restaurant, 2 min walking to Honda sushi (which is also a great place to eat Japanese food) and around 10 min walking to Safeway, and 15 min walking to DVC. So you got everything you need within walking distance! Sadly, I gotta move to Berkeley to continue my academic; I am gonna miss this place so much. P.S. Other yelp review are right, there has been swap between the manager and in the first few month, everything was messed up, in February, they messed up with their database and all the rent goes crazy (I got over-charged by $500), and I went to the office and told them I got overcharged, they are willing to change it back. But still... it is a mistake and thats why i give 4 star read more

I've had a great experience living here! The apartments have been renovated unlike many in the area. Hardwood floors are what I was looking for #1, but what I got was way more than I expected. Management gets back to any concerns I have quickly, it's honestly the best apartment experience I've had to date.
