He got me an estimate in a timely fashion and was very responsive in updating it as we made changes. The day of the job, Anthony and Nisi showed up on time. Both were courteous and helped in moving things to clear a path for their work. They got to work and the job was unique in that being an older house, they had to run some lengthy conduit to bring power to the garage. The job was excellent, they ensured the conduit was as hidden as possible...the wife was happy. At the end, they accompanied me on the walk around and explained what they did. Steve and his team helped me with a very serious electrical panel issue just before Thanksgiving. I had noticed my lights in certain areas were flickering. Steve was very responsive and sent a team out to troubleshoot immediately. They arrived the same day and got to work on making an unsafe issue (replaced old electrical panel wiring that was charred and brittle) safer for my house and family. There was some additional work that needed to be done to keep my ~60 year old electrical panel safer; however, in talking over my options with Steve, it became apparent that a new electrical panel was the safest bet for my situation. Steve and his team revisited my house to install the new electrical panel (plus upgrade to 200 amp). They did an awesome job on many fronts - installing the new panel, getting SCE to perform a meter spot check, and running the permit process with the city. They cleaned up the work area very well too. My city inspector was impressed with the work that Steve's team did and pointed out their attention to detail on things non-electricians wouldn't know about. Also, they did a great job in reducing the amount of stucco repair that needed to be done due to the new panel being installed. That's not the case in every situation in many panel upgrades as every situation is different, but I was lucky that my panel didn't need rerouting. Overall, I was really impressed with Steve and all of the members of his team. I'll be giving Steve a call in the near future for additional work I need done. We had an ADU built for my mom who retired after almost 30 years with the Navy. New permitted detached build with its own Split HVAC and sub panel. We received final approval from the city of Corona which extensively tested and inspected the new build to ensure compliance with building standards. We spent almost $300K and used highly recommended licensed contractor and architect. In addition to building the ADU, we demolished all existing concrete and repoured new concrete with reinforced steel rebar, drains, electrical conduit and well lights. All wire was pre pulled and all we needed was to connect to the ADU outlet and wanted that connection concealed for better aesthetics. We also had a concrete bench with two power receptacles that needed to be connected and had conduit for a spa we were preparing to have installed. I hired Cavenee to run the Spa wire, connect 13 well lights with 2 transformers and connect the bench outlets to the ADU totaling a little over $2,400. They performed the work and day 1 the lights which had a photocell and turned on at dusk were blinking and not working correctly. The receptacles were installed a little wonky, the transformers were not mounted in the stucco securely, they broke the pop conduit under the transformer at the base, and left their trash for me to clean. It also appeared that the electricians didn't know how to connect the lights and spent a lot of time reading instructions which I'm sure I paid for that education. In order for them to conceal the wire connected to the ADU outlet, they needed access to the inside of the ADU. After the work was performed, an ARC fault was tripped for the outlets on the wall where Cavenee connected the concrete bench outlet wires. I contacted Cavenee about the lights immediately (I learned of the ARC after since it hadn't been occupied yet). Steve Cavenee first suspected my equipment. I explained that I paid over $5,000 for the Hinkley lights and Transformer and that it was unlikely that both transformers and several lights were faulty. His response was something to the effect that even Luxury Cars break down. He did send someone to troubleshoot the lights. They jumped the voltage on the transformer one, tested the voltage down stream and left telling me that if the lights still didn't work and we're flickering--it was the bulbs. When the lights turned on at dusk, they were still flickering and essentially useless which was incredibly frustrating after spending so much time, money and resources. Cavenee didn't offer solutions and even charged me for a trip charge which I disputed and was later waived "under warranty." I finally connected with Hinkley, the manufacture who told me to jump to another voltage on the transformer and indeed that resolved the flickering lights. When I reached out to advise Steve, he explained that this would put additional load on the lights and reduce their life which might be true; however couldn't offer me any solutions to resolve the issue another way and in fact had his own electricians jump the voltage which he recommended not doing. I noticed the ARC fault issue in the ADU when moving my mom in and reached out to Steve to troubleshoot the issue and also needed other work accomplished. They scheduled, rescheduled and when they came out, they fixed the ARC fault issue however cited that this was not their responsibility despite the fact that they did indeed work on that outlet inside the ADU and it was working and inspected prior to final city approval before Cavenee "completed" their work. They couldn't complete the other jobs I needed because they had another appointment and didn't know there was a work order for additional work that had been scheduled. They attempted to add a motion sensor to control our stair lights and didn't know how to do it and said they needed to come back to complete the additional work. They billed me $280 for the troubleshooting of the ARC Fault which was their responsibility. Cavenee is arrogant, deflects any responsibility, blames everything but his electricians which appear inexperienced from personally observing their work. A lot of really good electricians out there, I'd hard pass on Cavenee. read more

Tom diagnosed and fixed the issue with the downlighting for the garage door. He also installed two outdoor GFCI outlets. Tom was very personal, professional, and knowledgeable. Service requested was to install a replacement, outdoor light and new wiring to correct a short that made the button that controlled the garage door opener inoperable. Nisi and Q were the technicians sent for the job. They called to let me know what time they would arrive. They were professional in doing the job and came up with some innovative ways to install the outdoor light that didn't quite fit the space that would initially work, but did get it installed so that it looks nice. I am waiting for the invoice to be emailed to me so I can't comment about value yet but I'm sure it will be satisfactory. read more

We had an intermittent issue with a bedroom/bathroom light circuit.... Intermittent power makes me nervous and when I called, Steve's team fit me right in (called on Friday, they fit me in the following Monday). Conner and Rolando showed up on time and were very professional. I explained the problem and they split up to investigate (one to the breaker box, the other to the bed/bath). A quick diagnosis revealed the intermittence came from the neutral lines behind a new timer switch in the bathroom (in other words, it was my fault when I installed the timer). They solved the intermittence, confirmed there weren't any other issues, and put everything back together as they found it. Great experience with a great company. I needed to get an old wired alarm system out of my house since it was outdated and I put in a new modern system. The old system had a yellowing alarm on the ceiling and the painters were coming so I wanted the old stuff out. The first electrician told me I needed an alarm specialist or likely he didn't want/ or know how to do the work. A neighbor referred Steve Cavanee. He called me back promptly, listening to the issue well and sent a guy out that afternoon. Sorry, I can't remember the technician's name (Bob?). He was great. Super efficient, fast(!!) , knowledgable, respectful, friendly. He was in and out in 15 minutes, (which was a shorter period of time the last electrician just poked around looking and did nothing.) He was able to locate the transformer in the attic, disconnect it, took my old large metal alarm box out of the closet and pulled out the alarm bell from the ceiling. Yeah! Now my painters can get everything done and those old, huge, yellowing alarm components from my old system are off of my walls and ceilings. You might pay a bit more for an hourly rate but these guys are so fast and knowledgable that they will get the job done, without having to call a second one. read more
