I must give Reuben a great review because he solved a huge problem for me. The wiring for the lights in my California room was completely messed up by the renovation workers, and none of the lights were working anymore. Before Reuben came, I contacted several electricians. Some gave me extremely high quotes, while others only offered an hourly rate without any maximum limit. I couldn't accept letting someone work indefinitely and charge me hour by hour without knowing the total cost. When I finally got in touch with Reuben , he also quoted me an hourly rate. I was honestly worried he might do the same thing--keep charging me endlessly by the hour. However, he explained that their services usually take about two to three hours. Because I saw his high rating on Yelp, I decided to trust him and asked him to come to my home to fix the issue. Thank God, he truly resolved all my problems. I wanted to give my honest review for OC Electric. Please know that this review is not a fake or paid review. Let me say first of all that these guys are the real deal. Before deciding to use OC Electric to replace our electric panel, I had no less then 6 quotes from electricians, including some with really good Yelp reviews. 5 out of the 6 businesses that I reached out to each had some serious issues that made me realize what a difference there are in the way companies like this do business. I kept detailed notes on each company and OC Electric was the only one who didn't have any negative issues as far as I was concerned. First, it's important to understand that for the most part, upgrading an electric panel is for the most part, going to be the same process for all of these electricians, so, to begin with all of them will give you a basic quote with just texting the company basic info and some pictures of the existing panel. This is not like the "old days" where a business will come out, look at the job and give you a price. After texting Ruben some pictures of my existing panel, we set up a time for him to come and give me a formal quote. The price was in line with what most of the other businesses and we decided to move forward with OC Electric. He handled all of the permits necessary in a very timely manner so that there would be no delays in starting the work. He texted me the day and time that they would arrive to start the job. For a big job like this, there are always concerns that during the process, unknown issues would be uncovered which lead to unexpected problems and costs. We've all heard the horror stories (and seen on those home improvement shows) right? Thank God there was nothing like that during this process for us. Keep in mind that we were replacing the original electric panel from when the house was built sometime back in 1963. A LOT of things have changed with electricity in the last 63 years. Mainly the size of these panels. I had no idea that today's panels are about 5 times bigger than my old one. On the first day, two OC Electric technicians showed up right on time and got right to work. They began at around 8 AM and finished around 6 PM on the first day. By the time they left that first day, all of our electricity was working perfectly and each breaker switch for the new 200 Amp electric panel was clearly labeled. The technicians who worked at my house that day were courteous, and professional and they cleaned up any mess made from the work. These guys went above and beyond. In fact, on day 1 when they stopped to take their lunch break, one of the guys even offered to bring me back some lunch! Wow, how many hired workers do that? None that I know of. I also had a small separate wiring job that I had started myself (but never completed) and asked if they could take care of, and guess what? They did it for me in about 10 minutes. I was so grateful to them. For this process there are a few steps involved, each one requiring an inspection and an approval from the city. First, the initial installation of the new panel, then inspection. Next was repairing the stucco. New chicken wire around the panel must be attached, then inspection. Next, stucco and paint, then final inspection. By the way, for our job I had told OC Electric that we didn't require painting because we are planning on getting the house painted anyway, but they insisted and the stucco guy did a pretty good job at matching the stucco texture. The paint color he used was slightly different, but for me, it didn't matter because of the future paint job. The entire process took about a week due to the inspections that needed to be scheduled, which can be a hassle because you're at the mercy of the city inspector. Scheduling all of the inspections was handled by Ruben and he was always good at keeping me updated as to when each inspection would take place. Except for the initial inspection, someone from OC Electric was here to meet the inspector each time. Aside from a couple minor aesthetic details, (which can't be avoided because of all of the new electric codes involved) I was very satisfied with the work that OC Electric performed and I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for an electrician. If I have any more electrical work in the future, I won't hesitate to give them a call. read more

I'd say out of all the reviews I've ever given, this company wins for being the most deserving 5 stars. I wish I could give them even more because they are by far higher rated than any other business I've previously given 5 stars to. First off, I contacted 15 different electricians to compare prices. But what I was comparing them to also was an additional list I had from the past that was another 17 electricians, and I only contact the highest rated, no lower than 4.9. But on this first round, I was aiming only for the 5s and trying to find ones that were still in the 5s even after hundreds of reviews. Next, having been unemployed for 10 months now with zero income, I could not afford this problem at all right now anyway, but I gave them zero indication that this was anything close to my situation right now, and both were super respectful and professional. Unlike one I'd accidentally contacted by phone first because he also had a high star rating with hundreds of reviews and I had him on my prior list as being competitively priced. I unfortunately didn't include notes as to why I decided against him in 2021 when I'd created my list. Well, that very soon became apparent when after I'd told him the issue, he told me to text him my name and address and he'd reply to schedule a time. So I got ready to do that and saw that I'd had a text string with him already years ago and I thought, oh ok, that's odd. I don't remember who this is or why I decided not to go with him, so I paged up trying to find my answer and there it was, one he'd sent me after he'd left after having given me an estimate: "Hi, I really like your lashes and smile, would you like to hang out and smoke some weed?" Mm yeah, so I'm really not into all that. Sorry. So yeah, never contacted him with my info as he requested. Anyway, also, the previous company I'd used that was also highly rated and had a ton of reviews in 2021, I no longer trusted since they clearly had to have seen that the connection in the outlet was loose when they installed it and decided not to quality check or just ignore the issue altogether. The biggest issue I kept coming across in all of these new companies I was contacting is that time and time again they wanted to let me know that I'd need to pay them $200 to $300 up front and THEN they'd diagnose the issue and possibly get to charge me even more. Creeps really. I'm asking for an estimate because I don't have an endless supply of money flowing over here, get it? Really, they should know what they're doing in order to have come across the kind of problem I'm describing to know what a problem like that might cost in order to give me the actual estimate I was requesting. I was polite in replying to them all, but by far not like I wished I could be. So, in the end, this company gave me such an incredible deal. I was literally shocked and so, so grateful, being that I had no money to begin with for something like this at this time in my life. I won't say what the price was or what I had done just in case I don't want others to see and compare it to whatever their price was, but I'm so incredibly happy and grateful to have chosen this company.
