I'd heard of the White Plains Performing Arts Center before, but this was my first time seeing a…read moreshow there -- and it definitely won't be my last. The ticket prices were reasonable, and the seating was surprisingly spacious. The seats are wide with lots of legroom, and there's enough space for people to walk by without you having to stand up -- which was a nice change from most theaters. The staff was super helpful, and during intermission, they even let us know we could use the movie theater bathrooms next door to avoid the lines. That kind of hospitality is something you don't usually get in Manhattan theaters. We saw Dreamgirls and it was a fantastic performance. All the singers had incredibly strong voices, the stage design and costumes were beautifully done, and the choreography really brought it all together. My only critique is that at times, the orchestra overpowered the vocals, making it a little hard to understand the lyrics -- and I imagine that might have been tough for some of the older audience members as well. A slight adjustment in sound balance would make a big difference. I went to a Saturday matinee, and while I'm not sure how many shows they do per day, the crowd leaned more toward middle-aged and older folks. Parking was a breeze -- there's a paid garage, and if you park on the fifth floor, you can walk right across the bridge directly into the theater. A few days before the show, I received an email with all the info I needed, including where to park and what to expect. Great communication. Overall, it was an excellent experience and a top-notch production. I'll absolutely be keeping an eye on future performances at this venue.

This woman is so miserable, it probably hurts her to smile. She's never once said hello to me nor my family; and gets some sort of a power kink by tossing the tickets instead of handing them to us. Please give her some customer service friendliness training. It's funny how the PA literally begs for support and money before every show...but with that woman still being rude to everyone, yall will lose our support soon. Let's hope she doesn't pull this nonsense again at "Finding Neverland" in December.

Absolutely LOVE this place but only receiving 4-stars for the following reasons:…read more First, If you sit back near the SRO (bar area), ALL you hear is people talking and the clinking of glass. Horribly distracting. The WORST place to stand or sit near if you're in the back of the Orchestra (latter rows)! Two, if you sit along the left wall (Orchestra), there is an alcove of sorts closer to the front of the stage. There is a TV in there (WHY, I don't know!), that is left on during performances. If you're in seats along the wall, you 'will' be distracted from the glare of the television light (as I recently was back in Row N!). Lastly, lobby bar prices are INSANE: $38 for a single serving CAN of wine and a single serve bottle of Prosecco. We had just come from a very nice restaurant and paid well less than that for quality!

I fell in love with the historic Capital Theatre the minute I walked in. Just a spectacular old building. While the show we saw, I won't say who, wasn't the greatest concert in the world the sound production and sight lines made for a really pleasant concert experience. Oh, and I should mention that the parking was a piece of cake. The reason this venue only gets three stars is simple: the bartenders were massively over serving. This was by far the drunkest crowd of concert-goers I've ever been in. It was literally unsafe. The venue gets props for having gender neutral bathrooms...they just don't have enough of them. The lines were nuts and for this show there were booze-fueled fights happening while you were waiting to take a leak. All in all, not a great vibe.

The theater's…read morecommitment to maintaining a pristine environment shines through in many details, from the lobby to the auditoriums that shine like new between shows. The Dolby Atmos sound system in the downstairs theater delivers crystal-clear, immersive audio that elevates the movie-going experience to a whole new level. The reclining, reserved seats are roomy/comfy. The box office and concessions team are super efficient and friendly, making the whole process seamless and enjoyable. The 2 smaller auditoriums upstairs are a little more hit or miss, but due to the care of the staff and the presentation of the feature are still better than the other theater in the area. One thing to note is that the Bedford Playhouse is normally closed on Mondays, and showtimes can be limited, so be sure to plan ahead, you may want to catch that new release but if you blink, you may miss it as films rotate in and out usually within 2 weeks of opening. Whether you're a film buff or just looking for a unique entertainment experience, this theater is a must-visit.

When we complained we were told that the kids were quiet when they were in the theatre, but were running around outside the room. Thats a problem! But actually we were in the last row of the adjoining theater and we could hear them in the room itself. So there is that. We all also thought it was unusual to exit the theater and walk-through the main bar/lobby to leave and see one of the staff men sitting at the bar with an undershirt tank top on. First of all it isn't the summer, but even still aren't they expected to wear their uniforms while on duty? It was very unusual.

With a spacious lobby area which includes a cafe one can relax prior to the show. As with any venue ones enjoyment primarily depends on performance. Easy driving (in and out) access into the very spacious - and free - parking lot only adds to the comfort as does nearby restaurants for early / late dining.
