Excellent service; fair price; very reliable/honest; and very determined in getting the job done right. Steve, the owner, is very responsive by text, too. His staff who answered the phone were very friendly. First, I had an HVAC (house heating) failure on a Saturday morning during a cold winter day; Steve answered the phone and said "I will get a technician to your house 'shortly.'" Within about an hour, Daniel, the technician, arrived, diagnosed the problem, and gave me options (one of our two [old] units was having a problem, and coincidentally, we were just about ready to shop for a new HVAC). Long story short, Steve gave prices for options, and was very attentive in personally following through the installation project to a timely completion. He was able to repair, rather than have to replace, our HVAC's old "economizer" (i.e., outdoor air intake through the HVAC for spring or fall AM/PM temps). It has been 9 months since my HVAC Trane unit was installed by Steve Patrick, and I am still so grateful for the peace of mind that Steve gave me. So glad I trusted him! It must have been fate, because originally I tried 5 or 6 numbers (from the internet) and could never get him. So I gave up on him. I suffered through the entire summer of 2015, not so much the heat, but the inability to make a decision. I primarily met with 4 major companies and had a total of 6 quotes. VAR, Lee's Air, Specialized Air...... I was ready to pull my hair out. NONE of them could assure me they were going to install the correct sized unit for my 1,600sf home. And I thought I needed to replace the attic insulation. Only Mitchell Aire tried to assure me I did need to replace it, but to make minor fixes. Not until I spoke to a neighbor and decided to try Steve Patrick again. After haggling for months, and a mountain of emails, quotes , and questions, in a matter of less than 2 hours, I was signing a contract with Steve. Simply because he made so much sense and he said we could do a duct test--before the job. Bottom line, I am so happy with this decision. Steve is not your polished fancy salesmen. He's a hard working, efficient thinking--my kinda guy!! I thank all of his crew, including his wife, Marcia. My unit is so perfect! And NOT the size that any of those jokers recommended. Both, my winter and my summer has been awesome, with the ducting modifications and repairs, my whole house is perfect! QUICK, EFFICIENT & AFFORDABLE. I'll be honest and say they were not my first choice but since they were the earliest appointment, we'd give them a try because it is in the dead heat of summer. IT WAS A GREAT DECISION because the tech, Jose was able to come out within 2 hours after call was placed. The A/C was fixed, all components were cleaned and even added freon for us within the hour. There was no oversell or over market on the price of parts, didn't try to sell us more services than needed and was honest about what was needed and what was not. It was a week before Christmas. The whole family coming and the furnace was out! Help! I called the "big" name company and on a recommendation from another HVAC tech I called Steve Patrick. The price difference was VERY significant. I'm not one to go after "low price" over quality. I question every point of difference in the bids; checked equipment spec., online reviews of the equipment, service problems, etc. The other company gave very misleading answers and information on the amount of "credits" I'd receive. This must have been their way of justifying their high costs. I got honest, complete answers from Steve and Darrell. I went with Steve and COULD NOT BE HAPPIER!. In the end I replaced 2 - furnaces and A/C units plus over half of my ductwork. We have a large home with 1986 equipment...it was time for a change. All was done before the family arrived by an very considerate crew. When one the spec'd furnaces was not available they upgrade that furnace at no extra cost. They were great to work with and I know they'll be my only HVAC company from now on! You owe it to yourself to at least get a bid from them. I'm sure you won't be disappointed! read more

In Late June of 2017 Vern's A/C came to house and said I needed a new circuit board on roof central air unit. Cold air was not working. I paid $600 and change for parts and labor. Last week PG&E had free service to check A/C units, change filters, etc. The man checked out two units and told me that the circuit board on the unit installed by Vern's was improperly wired. I called Vern's. They said they had sold their A/C business to Steve Patrick Air Conditioning & Refrigeration. Their man inspected it and concurred it was not wired properly. Also, the repairman that did it had a number of similar problems with other houses and is no longer with Vern's. He spent about 5 hours over two days to correct the wiring. Then he charged me $350. I asked why. He said because there was a small transformer that required replacement unrelated to the wiring of the circuit board. I looked up the transformer on Amazon. It sells for $18 retail. So, I paid $330 to replace an $18 part that fits in the palm of my hand. This took up 5 - 6 hours of my time over two days to correct the problem Vern's man admittedly created. You don't mind if someone makes a donkey out of you, but they don't have to pin on the ears. read more

Steve comes highly recommended, however his office staff should be better at letting waiting customers know their timeline. My 89 year old mother has been waiting for him to show up for 2 days now. We understand there are demands in this extreme heat, but a courtesy call to let her know whether or not he's coming would be nice. The lady who answers the phone has no idea what's going on. I have been waiting for an install of a new A/C. I have been waiting over 2 weeks. The new unit has been paid for. I call the office every day and the lady that is answering the calls has no idea what is going on. She says the owner is the only one who does the scheduling and I can't get a call back from them. I have been staying in a hotel for 2 weeks now because it's 98 degrees in my house. Still don't know when this is going to get done. Poor business practices and even worse communication. read more

Ac went out in the middle of a Saturday night, called them around 9 Sunday morning. They said they would get over as soon as possible but there was a couple of people ahead of us. Two hours later they call say they are on their way. He resolved the issue and even was kind enough to do a preventative maintenance service on it as well. Great service!! I was very impressed with everything. Price was pretty good considering it being an emergency call on a Sunday of a holiday weekend. All around very happy!! read more

I am really disappointed with the experience I had with Steve Patrick AC. We live in a condo community and called them because many of our neighbors used them before and they are supposed to know about our air conditioning units. I made an appointment because we had water dripping out of the secondary drain pipe. When I made the appointment I asked about pricing and the receptionist said that they charge $85/hour. When the technician came, he looked around and could not figure out where the primary drain pipe was and needed my neighbor to help him find it. He looked around upstairs a bit and cleaned out the drain pipe and then added some fluid to our machine. Both my toddler and newborn were awake, so I was distracted with them when he came in to give me the bill. He invoiced me and the bill came to $200. The part of the bill where the services were itemized had one line completed. I asked him about why the bill was $200 and he said, he didn't itemize the whole thing because it would have been $250 and he was giving me a deal by charging me only $200. I didn't have time to talk with him further about it, so I just paid the bill. After he left I was talking to my husband about it and realized that he was only there for an hour (I am certain because I texted him when the technician got there and when he left. The technician was there for an hour, including the time where he invoiced me and we talked about the bill). I then called the office twice to discuss the matter and they said they would talk to the technician to get an explanation and they would get back to me. I never heard from them. I gave up, but then I heard that three of my other neighbors used them and one of them had a very similar experience to me, but with another technician. I then called them back today. The receptionist looked my bill up and she said that what he itemized costs $85/hour, which means that the technician at best got the pricing wrong and at worst lied to me about the pricing. She then asked me how long he was there for and I told her an hour. She sounded a bit confused, then told me that the technician was there and she would discuss with him and she would get back to me. I haven't heard from them yet. It really feels like the technician took advantage of me because I am a woman and had my kids around. I am also disappointed that they haven't followed up with my questions. I would be totally fine paying $200 if only I knew what I was paying for. At this point I just feel ripped off. So, beware Yelpers! 9/11/17 Though I had been told that they would call me back threw times, I never heard from them. I just called Steve Patrick AC and spoke to a different woman this time. She was able to explain my bill, but I was given information that I had never heard from the time I made my appointment, to the conversation about the bill with the technician, and from the three previous times I spoke with their staff over the phone. She told me that they charge $60 to drive to your house and there is a minimum charge of one and a half hours (at $85/hour), which is a minimum charge of $127.50. Either way, I was lied to/told inaccurate information by the technician and given a run around. After speaking to them it is also clear that they don't care about customer service. I am terribly disappointed. I've heard good things from Lee's AC, so I will be trying them the next time I need an AC repair person. What an awful experience. read more

A/C went out early Sunday Morning. My landlord was very difficult to contact me or Steve about the A/C. Contacted landlord @ 9:00am and I contacted Steve @ 10:30am. My landlord never returned my calls or texts,and never contacted Steve to give permission to fix A/C. I called my family for credit cards and money. Called Steve @ 1:30 to let him know found money to pay upfront. My husband came home and called landlord and told him to contact Steve or he would go to the landlords home and pay him a visit.(if you know what I mean) Steve sent out Darrell who arrived about 1:50. Just as Darrell arrived the landlord called and said he talked to Steve and someone would be out to fix A/C. I told landlord A/C guy here and wants to get credit card info so that I (the tenant) didn't have to pay upfront. I told the landlord that Steve was going to call him NOW on his cell phone ,to hang up so Steve could get permission to fix A/C . I felt sorry for Steve to have to deal with such a slumlord, low life, cheap ass MF, and was embarrassed because of my MF landlords behavior at getting the A/C fixed. ( My landlord pays CASH for house at auctions and has no money problems ). I will always recommend with 5 stars for " STEVE PATRICKS A/C " . They are the best and Darrell was very nice.
