Great customer service and a fantastic repair department. I came to to the store after inheriting a number of rings that needed to be re-sized and in some cases repaired. The staff was incredible to work with. They provided me detailed descriptions of what the repair work would entail and then they delivered. One ring in particular was extremely difficult to resize give how it was originally created. The jeweler came up with an ingenious solution that resized the ring without changing the structure of the ring. I was amazed with the idea and I could not be happier. Steve Quick Jewelers have really nice people and are always helpful. They even have suggested how I can create some custom pieces. I could not have asked for nicer more knowledgeable people. Had previously been happy with result and process of working with the jeweler to replace a lost sapphire and white gold ring (originally created elsewhere). I don't know what happened in the intervening years, but when I called to discuss creating some custom jewelry from some stones my mother left me, I had a friendly talk with a nice young man who told me to expect a call from a gemologist for further discussion. The gemologist didn't call. Ten days later I called back. I was polite, but indicated that I thought this was unprofessional behavior. He was nice, but made up a bunch of excuses about it being Mother's Day time of year. If you are backlogged because of the holiday, you say so on the front end, not once you've screwed it up, and ten days is pretty ridiculous. Total lack of accountability. He asked if I still wanted the gemologist to call. I said, yes, please, I still want to talk about making the custom jewelry. Still no call (ever). Abysmal failure of communication. I won't be trying again. Get your act together people, especially for return customers. That's money walking out the door. read more

My first visit was to get my engagement ring sized. I met with Jake who had supposedly helped my fiance pick out my perfect ring. He offered me champagne when I walked in the door (who can turn that down?) and while I was gushing about the ring we browsed future possibilities in wedding rings and he matched up a few rings that look great with my diamond. I talked about my mom's ring that I had loved and Jake told me about how they could do custom designs. I picked up my ring after it was sized (right on time) and left with an overall pleasant experience. A few months later, I had my second visit to Steve Quicks. Jake had contacted my fiance about coming in for their trunk show in March (see how behind I am in writing this?) to look at wedding bands. We were a little late for our appointment, but Jake was super friendly and nice. I described to him what I was looking for and he came back with 2 rings that were close. They looked great but I was still not completely satisfied with them. I went into a little more detail and Jake came back with the PERFECT wedding ring. We weren't really planning on buying that day, but the ring was too amazing to pass up. When it was my fiance's turn, he seemed to know exactly what he wanted as well. I recently took my engagement ring and two bands to have them rhodium plated and polished. I also needed a small diamond replaced on one of the bands. The last jeweler I had taken to have a diamond replaced, did a pretty terrible job so I asked them to fix that as well. My jeweler is from out of town so I've had to find a local one, which is harder than you might think! The reason I'd like to give them 5 stars, they were so friendly and helpful. The rings came back fantastic, like brand new and they were able to fix the past jewelers job! I couldn't have been happier! The reason I took one away, they took forever. This took 2 weeks to get done. I guess good quality takes time?! The other reason for 4 stars- they called me to tell me my rings were done, but when I got there to pick them up, they said only 1 band was complete. The other two would be done later that day or the following day. Huh? Why wouldn't you just tell me to come when they were all completed? If you want to be treated poorly, talked down to in a condescending manner, or just ignored, then come to Steve Quick Jeweler! I don't believe I have ever seen customer service this bad and I even came in a second time to see if the first was just a fluke. Also, from my two times in the store, most of their jewelry looks to be overpriced junk. Do you even have the certification information for your diamonds? The lack of natural light is also concerning as you can't see what the diamonds will look like on a normal day outside of the showroom. I am fairly certain if Steve Quick was the only jeweler available, my fiancée would rather not have a ring than one from this stuck up garbage store. I bought my engagement and wedding rings here years ago because they had the best selections then, too. Since having my son, my fingers got bigger so I had to have the rings resized. Priscilla Borja was at the store when I walked in, and she was incredibly knowledgable, helpful and friendly. I wanted to make my rings much bigger, but she convinced me to make them just slightly bigger. I'm SOOOO glad she talked me out of making them as big as I originally wanted because they would've been slipping off my finger all the time. Now they fit comfortably with a little wiggle room in case my fingers swell without being too loose to slip off unwantedly. They fit perfectly in appearance also, not too big and not too snug around the flesh. There were some complicated logistics because I was in between moving from Illinois to California. thank you steve quick for the most beautiful engagement ring i could ever imagine. we started by looking at the lincoln square location. the rings are just, ugh, gorgeous. i am more of a simple ring sort of lady, but even the most intricate and over-the-top designs were gorgeous. no joke, i did not see one ring in here that is ugly or tacky. at our first visit i found the ring we ultimately ended up ordering. we looked around at some other jewelers, then came back quickly to order the ring. unfortunately, it had moved to the lincoln park location, so we made a trip. we picked the ring, the diamond, all the small details, and ordered. they do a computerized image of the ring first (which took about a week), then make a wax mold (another week or so) in which you can see it with the center stone in it, then you have the final product (another week). it's nice to know that you have two chances before you order the final product to tweak any details or completely change it if you need - fortunately i was happy with it the entire time, and the staff was always great about answering questions. so, it kinda sucks you have to wait when you are so anxious to get your ring, but when you figure it will be the one you have for the rest of your life it is definitely worth it. plus, enjoy some time together knowing you are engaged then tell the rest of the world after you get your ring and let the madness begin. both locations have vverrrry helpful sales associates and nice extra amenities (i.e. wine, cookies, candy etc.)! dana was our associate that ultimately did most of the ring work with us - she is great! down-to-earth and really great about telling you everything you need to know! everyone here is very honest and geniunely interested in helping you find exactly what you want. at this location you can park in the lincoln park supermarket and get your parking validated, fyi. i really could not have imagined a better experience or a more beautiful ring!! read more

i'm not a jewelry guy. i was recommended by a friend to go to steve quick jewelers on clark. they buzz you in. there's usually a plate of cookies and a pitcher of water on a table in the center of the store. it's nice. they have beautiful things. even i can tell. dana o'sullivan. ask for her. she was instrumental in helping my wife find her wedding band almost three years ago - as well as a beautiful vintage bracelet. and a few months ago, she was once again instrumental in helping me get my wife another beautiful piece of jewelry. she had on file a particular ring my wife fell in love with three years ago. dana knew the style, size, everything. i ordered the ring. when it arrived, dana wasn't happy with its craftsmanship. she had it made again. i picked it up for my wife's birthday and all i know is that when i gave my wife this ring, she cried. her face got red, her nose started to run, and there were tears. she was a happy happy mess. i believe in credit where credit's due. and like i said, i don't know from jewelry - but i believe that dana has my best interest in mind and i trust her. in any type of business, or relationship for that matter, trust is key. read more
