Overall a fairly positive experience at Steve Quick. I contacted them via Yelp, setup a few things, went in and had the batteries on my watches changed. That simple! 44 bucks for two watches, not bad but I was quoted at $10 Per watch. 4 stars for the "white glove" treatment (watches weren't scratched. 4 stars for quickness (had me out of there in 15 minutes) 4 stars for overall professionalism. I had to bump the stars down to 3 because one of the watches was off center and I had to go in myself and adjust it, (pictured below) no big deal, kinda, but when paying a premium I'd expect things to be done correctly. Overall, not a horrible experience.

I was given my grandmothers ring from the 1940s and it was too small for me. Brandon was able to help us and guide with what to do with the ring. I decided to modernize the stone setting to better show it off but kept everything else the same. Brandon was knowledgeable about what style was important to that era. They were amazing throughout the entire process and made us feel so good about leaving an heirloom in their very professional and capable hands. They showed us the computer rendering and the wax mode before anything was made and communicated the entire way. The ring is beautiful and everything I could ever want. It looks just like grandmothers.

When I decided to begin looking for an engagement ring for my girlfriend, I knew that a top priority was finding a neighborhood jewelry store that would answer the many questions I had about the entire process. Steve Quick Jeweler was the perfect place. I live just a few blocks from the store in Lincoln Park, so I stopped in. Ashley greeted me as I walked in, asked me questions about what I was looking fo, and showed me a bunch of different designs. I thought I'd picked the perfect ring, but wanted to be sure my girlfriend would like it, so I asked her come into the store with me. Ashley was equally patient with her, allowing my girlfriend and I to come into the store multiple times to pick the exact ring she wanted. I really appreciated Ashley's patience and guidance. Once we had picked the ring we wanted, Ashley helped me get it delivered in secrecy, saving me money along the way. We are now engaged, and my girlfriend loves the ring. I'd strongly recommend Steve Quick Jewelers, and am especially thankful to Ashley for her help along the way.

I was recently given a beautiful, one of a kind, engagement ring from my fiance from Steve Quick Jeweler. He worked with Priscilla B, who was fantastic and helped him bring a vision to fruition. Priscilla provided him with multiple stones to pick from and when he chose the diamond, she went to work on making it perfect. I am absolutely stunned at the piece and I so happy that she helped him making this process stress free.

Long ago, when I was just beginning to grasp the vast social potential of Yelp.com, I attended a Kellie K. office hours at Farragut's. There, I met a few veteran Yelpers including the kind and wonderful Sarah B. That night, that fateful night, Sarah B. would bend the rules of friend-crush-secret-keeping in a way that would affect the rest of my life. She told me what my little heart was hoping to hear: that David R. thought I was pretty cool. !!!!!! [Fast forward] Having met Sarah B. at a Kellie K. function, it felt perfect that David R. and I would run into Kellie K. and her Favorite +1 on our first visit to Steve Quick. We exchanged pinky swears that no one would speak of our encounter; since nothing was official at that time it would have been gossip and like the Go-Go's, our lips were sealed. Now the cats are out of the bags, so it's cool for me to tell the story. Anyway, we got down to some ring shopping, and I was overwhelmed with the beauty of the rings as well as the excitement that David R. and I were actually in that stage of our relationship. If, like me, you are extremely excited or if, like David R., you are both excited and anxious, do not fear: there is alcohol on the premises. Alcohol and cookies, which are a fantastic combination. On that visit we narrowed down some options, but didn't pick the winner (in part because I don't trust myself to make decisions under the influence of Excitement). The ring David R. gave me is perfection and perfect for me, which makes me sound like a narcissist because it's a gorgeous ring, but I don't mean to sound like a narcissist. Just an appreciative, wowed and happy ring recipient. On subsequent visits, we tackled the wedding band search and again decided on perfect choices for each of us. David R., the man who doesn't care for man-jewelry, (not that I blame him) designed a handsome band that is clean with subtle detail. Sarah B. was patient, helpful and informative, as she had been all along. I had some deciding to do as well, and ended up with a comfort-fit band that really is comfortable. Our wedding has come and gone, and the rings have adjusted to their new homes on our fingers. They are among the most important purchases we will make in our lives, and we have no regrets with our choices or our decision to work with Sarah B. I recommend Sarah B. as a knowledgeable and zero-pressure diamond connoisseur, as well as amateur matchmaker and blackbelt in the art of friendship.

I know this is my third update, but they really deserve praise here. A few weeks ago, I had them solder and engrave my engagement and wedding rings together. Took about a week to do because of the amount of work to do (and because I was obviously not the only customer). I got them back and I noticed as soon as I left that my engagement ring was not quite centered on top of my wedding ring (it's a contoured band). I tried really hard to let that go, but I just couldn't. It'd gotten to the point where I wasn't noticing how pretty my rings were, I was just noticing they weren't lined up right. Now, this wouldn't be a big deal to most, however I'm told that I have this eye for design where things MUST be even or it bothers me to no end. A very small percentage of the population has this eye, which is why one of the other workers on hand had to look through her diamond microscope to see what I meant. In other words, I became a huge pain in their butt because I took it back a few days later and explained that I'd noticed it. Traci was very nice and accommodating once again, and she told me they'd have it done in a few days. I felt bad because it was a lot of work for them to have to re-do, but everyone was super nice about it and assured me it wasn't a problem. I really appreciated that. I know I was thinking that I was just being a pain in the butt (and maybe they were too) but nobody ever let on that they thought that, which is pretty cool.

I spoke with Victor, who was incredibly friendly and pleasant said that he was planning on closing a little bit early because it was New Year's eve, but then offered to stay a little later in order to help get this watch sorted that night! (Totally did not need to do this). When we arrived Victor, (very well dressed, stylish gentleman) sat us down, made my son, and I feel very welcome, and then proceeded to explain what he was going to do to the watch and made suggestions about how many links to remove and why. A+++ service and done with a genuine great attitude and welcoming vibe! I'll definitely be back for anything else I need adjusting/fixing jewelry or watch related!

We wanted to support our local jewelers but we've had two bad experiences here…read more First, my wedding ring had grown a little too tight so I took it to get resized. They ended up charging $800 and over a month to stretch it out so big that the white gold band became super super thin and the ring flew off my finger. It was comically too big. As soon as they saw it on my finger they agreed to take it back down several sizes. But even with the attempt to fix their mistake the ring still swings around on my finger and the band remains tiny compared to what to once was. I knew the band would thin a bit but since they mistakenly doubled the amount it needed to be stretched I lost a lot of my wedding rings integrity due to that mistake. Even with that, when my husband lost his wedding ring we went back here to find a replacement. Big mistake. After looking at a bunch of rings in the store we didn't find anything in the style he likes that was also white gold. It was important to him to have white gold both to match my ring and also he explained to them he didn't like the various yellow shades of gold against his darker skin tone. The store suggested a more expensive option on special order. We paid up front. The ring came in over a month later and I was out of town for work during that time. My husband picked up the ring and was immediately disappointed but he didn't tell me about it. It was yellow gold. Had I been there I would have refused it, but he did not feel comfortable doing that so he took it home and by the time I came back from my trip, he'd already been wearing it and feeling like he could not return it. Now we have two wedding rings that do not match and that both of us are disappointed about all because of mistakes by the store. And that just makes me sad.

There was an interesting sapphire and diamond ring with a kind of asymmetrical profile that was lovely. Far too expensive for me to have purchased but perhaps it's good that it was too small for my finger so I didn't have to feel sad about leaving it behind. I would like some sort of jewelry with my daughter's birthstone, perhaps also my own, so Ellie Thompson is a place I will keep in mind when I am ready to explore the possibilities.
