on a BUDGET. My mom…read moreand I had difficult situation last week when her car died on the street in front of our home. I tried, to no avail, to start her car but the engine showed no signs of life. I pushed the car to the side of the road and we tried to figure out what to do next. A few phone calls later, my mom is on the phone with Carlos explaining our stressful situation with her car. He assures her he can help, but it would 1-2 hours before he can get to our home. He arrives and expertly aligns the car with the tow truck. Before attaching the towing mechanism, he pops the hood and takes a look. After a short while, he then informs us that the car's shifter cable broke (which definitely explains why the gear shift wasn't responding, this makes perfect sense for someone like myself who has no car mechanics background). We ask him to tow the car to Lex Brodie's in Aiea (I had called before his arrival to ask if it was ok to tow the car to their location). As he is settling the towing fees with my mom, he informs one of the Lex Brodie workers that the problem with the car is a broken shifter cable (he told the girl "the mechanic will know what to do"). Carlos and his diagnosis definitely saved us some money, as I was told on the phone that a $175 diagnostic had to be performed on the car. The car was dropped off at about 1215pm, and we were able to pick up the car before closing that day. We were charged $83 for labor and the replacement shifter cable. BOTTOM LINE: THANKS to Carlos and Budget Towing for their great customer service and expert mechanic knowledge! Thank you for assisting us in a very difficult and stressful situation.
