    Comfortable beds

We came to Kings Beach with accommodations booked elsewhere, but got cancelled with only an hour before check-in. Thankfully I remembered considering the Stevenson's Holliday Inn since they were the only other pet friendly establishment I had found. Walked down the street and talked to the manager about availability, sure enough they had a room and were able to offer it to us. He was very helpful and offered a lot of insight to the area and just genuinely cared. After an exhausting day due to the other place, we were very relieved to get into a room. Our daughter immediately was excited to jump into bed after camping for a couple nights.

    Worn out turn blanket.

I don't mind staying in an old motel, as long as it's clean and well maintained. This one wasn't one of them. It's in a good location and the staff is nice, but it was nasty in places. I posted pictures of a stain on the bath mat, a layer of gunk on the TV controller box, a dirty coffee pot, a worn out torn blanket, and a stain on the chair. There was also a thick layer of dust behind the TV but I didn't take a picture of it. I drove home late one night during my stay but couldn't find the entrance because the sign was turned off. The sign was advertising for a pool and spa that weren't open. It looks like they hadn't changed the lettering in a while. It's like the owners are super cheap, or just don't care.

Im a sucker for a hole in the wall motel. The place is old and could use some Renovations but overall it's a place to rest your head for the night. I saw online people complaining that there is no air conditioning. It's north shore people! Not very motels have ac and it's not needed. Pros Comfy beds Manager was very helpful and accommodating Easy access rooms Close to the beach Quiet at night Heater works amazing Cons The slider entry doors need to be replaced The bathroom slider doors need to be realigned and are very loud Rooms could use some deep cleaning *I will definitely come here again. Great room for a killer price

    Dangerous appliances and outlets!

Location & Grounds: The setting is incredible, well-maintained, and hard to beat. Units & Amenities: Unfortunately, the units haven't changed much over the years, especially considering what they charge. The mattresses are very uncomfortable, the TVs barely work, and many of the amenities feel outdated. The sauna never seems to get hot enough, and I've always wondered why a hot tub has never been added, it would be a great improvement. We also found that basic supplies like toilet paper were very limited. This property has so much potential, and with some updates to the units and amenities, it could easily be a five-star experience. My entire family feels the same way. We love coming here and hope the owners invest in modernizing the accommodations to match the incredible location.

AVOID UNIT 3 MANAGED BY GRAND WELCOME. Walls and carpet are dirty, the oven and internet/wifi did not work upon arrival - it took two days to fix them and another two days to get bathmats. We made two contacts over four days about mice in the unit before help arrived. I spent too much of my vacation time cleaning what should have been done before we arrived. No one is maintaining this unit.

Bed, even though a Murphy is quite comfortable. Having your own assigned parking spot is super convenient. After hours check in was straight forward & easy. The private & protected swim/kayake launch area is great. BBQ's are plentiful & work great. Loved watching the sunrise & sunset from the pier. Had a great time playing ping pong. Full kitchen is stocked & great for preparing meals. The not so great: Temperature in the room runs warm, no matter what you do. We left most windows open 24/7 & were still warm - even with snow outside. To complicate that - leaf blowers...run all day long. Do they carry around extra batteries? No joke - from 8am to after 5pm, it doesn't stop. When you have to leave windows open to not boil in the room - the noise from the leaf blowers = nousicance. The pillows are crazy full. Make your neck hurt firm. I ended up filling my own pillowcase with a small blanket I brought. If you trade through II, for a sleeps 2 privately/with a kitchen - that's exactly what you get. A room with a kitchen in it. It's pretty intimate to co-habitate for a week together. We did ok but it would be awkward if your not super close/familiar with each other. $25 a day "resort fee", no matter what the season & no matter what type of room you have. No kayakes, no pool - doesn't matter = $25 a day. We won't be back, unfortunately. Might be better in a larger unit during a different time of year.

Laundry facilities are free but there are only 2 washers and 2 dryers for the entire property. Detergent is $2 and can be purchased at the front desk. Because of a snow storm we could not make it on the first day and arrived late on the second day. Between the many complimentary amenities and thoughtful touches, I felt the premium price was well worth it. Upon our arrival, we were greeted by Alec at the front desk. He immediately offered us water, champagne, or apple juice, making us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. He was kind, personable, and genuinely enthusiastic as he shared everything the Hyatt has to offer. His excitement was contagious, and he made a wonderful first impression. The bell service was also excellent. They quickly unloaded our luggage upon arrival and made both check-in and check-out seamless. It was another thoughtful convenience that helped set the tone for a relaxing stay. We chose a first-floor room with a patio that opened directly to the pool area, and it ended up being one of the best decisions we made. It made going back and forth between the room and the pool incredibly easy, especially with children. Some of our favorite amenities and thoughtful touches included: The Hyatt provides cloth wristbands that serve as your room key, giving you access to your room, the pool, and other resort areas. This was one of our favorite features! We never had to worry about carrying a key card, and the wristbands stayed on comfortably throughout showers and swimming. Water refill stations are conveniently located throughout the resort. The casino is beautiful, clean, and well maintained. Lockers stocked with towels are located outside of the hotel for easy access when leaving for the beach. There are a couple of beautiful beaches just across the street, only a 2-3 minute walk away. The concierge service was outstanding. I can't remember the young man's name, but he helped us on Tuesday, August 4. If management knows who was working that day, please extend our sincere thanks. He explained the complimentary kayaking, directed us to the beach, and arranged shuttle transportation. His customer service was exceptional. Although the Hyatt beach is temporarily closed for construction, the resort has arranged access to nearby private beaches for guests. They also run a shuttle every few minutes, making it very easy to get around. If you're looking for a livelier atmosphere, the public beach is only a short drive away. The pools were wonderful. The main pool is heated to approximately 80-85°F and features a fun cave area. There's also a kiddie pool, plus separate hot tubs for adults and children. Poolside service was an added bonus. Every evening from 5:00-10:00 p.m., the resort provides complimentary s'mores kits that can be enjoyed in a fire pit near the pool area. This was such a fun family activity and one of those little touches that made the stay feel extra special. The café opens at 6:30 a.m., and if you order regular brewed coffee, you receive complimentary refills until 10:00 p.m. that evening, a great perk for coffee lovers. The only area that fell short for us was the food. Most of what we ordered was fairly heavy and greasy. To be fair, there is a Cyclospora outbreak in the US, so we chose not to order fresh salads, fruits, or vegetables out of an abundance of caution, which limited our options. The main restaurant "cutthroat saloon" had live music which made dinner enjoyable. There are plenty of excellent restaurants nearby, however, and we didn't get the opportunity to try Osteria Sierra, which may have been a better dining choice. My only other criticism involves one interaction with room service. After providing my room number, I asked if I could order room service, and the employee replied, "Well, that's why you called, didn't you?" It came across as unnecessarily sarcastic and unwelcoming. It was an isolated interaction, but it stood out because every other staff member we encountered was warm, friendly, and professional. Overall, we had a wonderful stay. The resort itself is beautiful, the amenities are outstanding, and the customer service especially from Alec at the front desk, the concierge, and the bell staff was exceptional.
