STAY AWAY, But especially if you are a woman, STAY AWAY. This "man" Steve belittles and is so arrogant and straight up derogatory toward women. My husband took my car to get smogged while I was out of town and my car failed. Two codes came up, one for my thermostat, and one for my gas cap. This crook wanted over $300 to fix it, my husband called me and I said, "I dunno, we've already talked to the dealership since the gas cap is a reoccuring issue," and he told Steve we would take to the dealership. In broken English Steve said my husband "looked like a nice guy" and WROTE ON THE RECEIPT "FREE RETEST" so once we got it fixed at a dealership we could bring it back. Dealership fixed it for about $200 (including some non-smog issues that were bugging me), and we had to drive over 300 miles. We drove far more than that and returned today to retest. This time I was present. A woman came out, we said we're here for a retest and she said "we don't do free retests," and went to grab Steve. He comes out all hot-headed and tells my husband to come over to his sign, "see I have a sign posted, I don't do free retests," and proceeds to LECTURE at my husband like he's 5 years old about how it's a waste of his time, and his money to do retests if HE didn't do the repairs. My husband tried to interrupt him more than once to show him the paper. When my husband says, I was here a week or so ago, and I took to the dealership to have it fixed, he says "well how do I know they did it right? and why didn't THEY smog it for you?" I interjected and said "Dealerships don't do smog" and he looked at me as if I was an Alien and said "I'm not talking to you! I'm talking to him!" and TURNED HIS BACK ON ME. I said "EXCUSE ME, no one has the right to talk to me that way, this is my husband, and this is MY CAR!" He repeated again "i'm not talking to you, the men are talking," and my husband said "it's ok, it's ok" and I walked away before I punched him in the face. I couldn't hear what was happening but eventually after 10 minutes of lectures and wasting MY time, he finally let my husband show him his own hand writing that read "free retest". I walked back over as he says "oh yes yes, I liked you that day".... He says, ok, I will retest and you pay $10 for the certificate. What the heck did we pay for the first time?! But, whatever. So the woman drove my car up to get tested. I have no clue how long a smog takes, but we were there an additional 20 minutes for the test. It came back fine, as it should, and the woman says here, fill this out. My husband filled it out, we went in the office to wait for the "certificate" (which is a print out that says pass on it), and we waited another 10 minutes. We handed her a $20 bill and she says "You don't have change??" and I said it's a $20 or I can give you a card, and she begrudgingly took the $20 and magically produced change. Over 40 minutes, lots of attitude thrown around, and if they wouldn't have retested, I for sure would have gone somewhere else to get it retested. The day it failed, I know my husband was super appreciative he was OFFERING a free re-test when he told Steve it was a dealership known issue (something I'd been taking to the dealership for months now). But the treatment after the fact, and his OBSCENE treatment of WOMEN.... STAY AWAY. NO WOMAN HAS THE RIGHT TO BE TALKED TO LIKE THIS, and he's lucky my husband was there to calm me down, NO ONE should be disrespected like this!! read more

Went here for a smog check. Sign out front says most cars $29.95 plus fees, etc. The girl charged me $39.95. When I questioned her, she told me that she charged me extra because my tiny, 4-door Vibe was a "station wagon." I laughed and tried to correct her, but she just charged my card, (added $3 on top all the other changes) set my paperwork at the end of the desk and walked away. Never go there again! read more

This place is a JOKE! My sister took my 85 yrs. old mom's car to this place to get smogged a few weeks ago! Since the car is a little older it didn't pass smog due to a check engine light on and the mechanic telling my sister to drive the car at least 30 miles to get that engine light off! My sister paid $40 after the first try!! Fast forward to today 8/4/2022.......my 85 yrs.old mom decided she was going to take her car to the same smog place to hopefully pass this time!!! As my mom was talking to the lady at the counter my mom was told she had to pay again! This time $50??!!!! The car passed and now getting a smog HERE cost $90 TOTAL!!!!!!!!! So taking advantage of an elderly lady is O.K. to them!!! ............I've had a truck of mine not pass the first time and WAS NEVER CHARGED A SECOND TIME and that was at a DIFFERENT SMOG PLACE THAT WILL CONTINUE TO GET MY BUSINESS AS WELL AS MY MOM, FAMILY AND FRIENDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So today I go get my smog and he fails me for two false reasons, the first reason was the check engine light wouldn't turn on, the second reason was the catalytic converter being, and I quote "after market with no C.A.R.B. # " which is absurd. I clarified that it is a stock exhaust, that being said, I paid the $60 fee and I was on my way home to jack up my car and take a video of the catalytic converter C.A.R.B. #, so at a redlight I think, "let me check", I then turn off my car and switch it to the o position and what do you know, my engine light works perfectly, so now for sure I know I'm being robbed.. I write a contract stating I was there and would come back with proof so I won't get charged again and when I asked for a kind signature he gets furious making a SCENE, he did not sign the contract, goes to put my car on his lift to show me how their is no number, so when he jacks it up the number is clearly on the catalytic converter, he now says that it's off a different car and kept ranting on how I'm a joke and he's a mechanic and tried telling me that it's a part number not the carb number. With PHYSICAL PROOF this guy would not give me my money back or even pass my smog when I clearly should have passed I saw he was just arguing and arguing so I asked to drop my car so I can just go about my way.. such a greedy angry man. Today was my third time taking my car here to get a smog, and it was the third time I was given attitude. My car did not pass the smog, the girl that process the paperwork asked if the battery was unplugged, because when that is done the system is restarted. I let her know that I had just gotten a new battery about two weeks prior. She then let me know when a battery is unplugged or a new one is installed that you have to drive 40-50 before taking it for a smog since the system was restarted with the new battery. I told her I didn't know that, and she rudely responded "Well people that are concerned or care about their car will say something and ask questions." I tried so hard not to make a big deal or give attitude back. I had to pay $32 to be given attitude and not have my car pass the test! read more

Not only is this place RIGHT next to the DMV, they are soooo QUICK they got my smog done in 20 min even though they hadn't even started testing the car in front of me until 10 min after I arrived! And I have an older car that requires an additional test too! And they were so so sooo nice. I had called ahead requesting a verbal quote and my quote was honored by the owner and he thanked me in person for being so polite over the phone! I simply asked the price and said thank you before I hung up - nothing out of the ordinary. But being graciously met and offered such a warm welcome and excellent customer service really made my day so much better; it's just so unexpected to have someone be so nice. I took my 2014 Fiat 500 in to Steve to get it smogged as I'd just shipped it permanently to California from Colorado. He told me about his DMV paperwork service and charge which seemed reasonable. I decided to let him do it. The service was first class and worth every cent. I didn't have to wait around and when I returned all the paperwork was done correctly with no issues. A few months later we had a problem with our 2014 Grand Cherokee. Steve looked at it promptly, spent some time on it and assessed the problem. No problems again and a great service! Not even a week went by when it started having the same issues, so I took it back to him. He said he would fix it and recognized the bad was his fault. When I complained, he raised his voice and started yelling at me in front of everyone and then proceeded to walk away from me, went to his desk and started playing online poker in front of me while Yelling at me that I was not going to get my vehicle back until I paid him. I needed my truck back and so I paid him AGAIN!!! Biggest mistake of my life ...I filed a small claims lawsuit. I shouldn't have been surprised when I found out he had multiple lawsuits pending against him and his SHADY BUSINESS. Avoid This Smog and so called Repair Shop ...Steve is a crook. He has no interest in keeping his WORD. He Intimidates clients by Raising His Voice. Terrible customer service, they do not do free-retest on smogs, recommend going a few blocks down the street to other smog places

Yesterday I had to get my motorhome smogged I worked all day then drove down saviors and I saw Steve's sign said they do RV's, so I parked the motorhome in the side of the street I walked in; the young guys were very friendly and said can I help you I said yeah can you do a motorhome he goes yeah no problem give us about 10 minutes to move these cars out-of-the-way and then his old guy says you got bad timing I said excuse me he then ignored me so then they started moving cars and he started mumbling to the others ; what are we going to do if somebody comes in and I said oh I don't have to come here if it's a problem I can go somewhere else they said they no I said I'd take care of you Then started fighting amongst themselves the young guy goes don't worry about the old guy don't to listen him I said I would take care of you then the old guy comes up to me and goes you know most people call and make an appointment with the tone of voice that was not pleasant to say the least and a look that could kill I said WOW me I'm sorry if I caused a problem here I'll take it somewhere else HE YELLS yeah you do that just take it somewhere else so I went down the street to five points smog They met me with a smile and we're glad to take care of it everything passed perfect So now I'm glad it happened because they wanted $85 and he only wanted $59. Took care of the DMV charges gave me my sticker I know where I'll be going in the future. so I save 25 bucks and got a good laugh. I've read a lot of bad reviews for this place, but after going there for myself I have nothing but good things to say about them. A lot of people say he's rude and loud but i say cut the guy a break, he works his butt of 10-13 hour days and is probably just exhausted! He was nothing but kind, sweet, and gentle and helped me alot w/ my van, he charged me a very low price (45 out the door), I was in and out in under 20 minutes, and his staff; his very handsome son and cutie pie assistant, were very friendly. I just transfered into NBVC Point Mugu. I went in here for a smog check that I needed prior to registering my Toyota Sequoia in CA. I didnt want to but as a CA home of record, I was forced to register in CA. My intent was to go to the DMV right nextdoor after the smog. I ver very pleased to find out I could do the out if state registration right here. Sandra was excellent! She provided great customer service and made the process super efficient. Within a few minutes I knew what my fees would be, I jammed home to grab my title for turn in so CA could issue me a CA title (in case i sell it later). After I paid, she said i could come pick up my new plates and tags after 3pm. Well worth the $45 they charge for this service to do it all in one place and not have to sit in that DMV, which I most assuredly would have left there pissed from shitty service those disgruntled DMV employees give. Took in my song to this smog shop because it was basically the only close shop to me at the movement, told me it would be about 20 mins and I'm like ok that's great, so about 10 mins go by and I'm assuming the owner tells me that he can't and won't smog my car because it's missing the EGR valve, and that I changed my engine, and that the sticker on the hood of my car says otherwise, I told him that that hood isn't to my car and that what did the hood have anything to do with it? And the guy kept going in circles on about that he can't do anything for me because the sticker doesn't match up with the book and that its his license is on line blah blah blah, I told him it's a 2.4 engine the same engine that came with it from the factory and even then he still wouldn't smog my car. He says that I need to go to the dealership and get the right sticker before he can touch my car and I find this to be absurd simply because I've taken my car with the same hood to a different smog shop the year before and they never told me anything about the sticker and then you have this guy telling me irrelevant things that supposedly he's the first guy in town to do smogs and shit, I don't care if you're the first or last simply provide me with the services I need or say you won't do it from the beginning and not waste my time! So as I'm leaving he tells me "yeah at least say thank you" like wtf? For what? You didn't even do anything for me or do anything to the car. Like seriously if this is how you're gonna treat customers at least be polite about it and not demand a thanks for literally not doing anything, I'll be taking my car to a different shop this place doesn't seem to reason with their potential customers. 1 it of 5 is what I'm rating the service of this place, STAY CLEAR OF HERE! read more
