My husband and I eat lunch here about once a week. It's decent diner food at reasonable prices. Their home-made desserts are always tempting in the glass case! I was driving from Maine back home to Boston and found good reviews for Steve's Diner. Pulled in and as waking to the entrance I inquired to a staff member how the food was? She enthusiastically replied, "Very good, but you tell me what you think after you have given us a try." I ordered the fish chips featuring Haddock. It was the best fish and chips I have had in many years. And I have eaten many and know the difference between good, very good and exceptional when it comes to this offering. The fish fresh fresh, the breading crispy light and worth every calorie - but what out it over the top was I could tell this establishment changes their fry oil on a very regular basis. So, hats off. Stopped in for breakfast. One of the nicest waitresses I have ever had. I had cheese and broccoli omelette. The omelette was good, cooked well and hot. I like a thin omelette with what ever you ask for with it rolled in the center. This one had the broccoli cooked throughout. It was still very good. The coffee is typical diner coffee. We were visiting from Houston, to attend a wedding. I used Yelp to find Steve's diner. It was a short drive from our hotel, the Exeter Inn to Steve's. We were looking for real New Hampshire atmosphere, not too touristy. When us Texans walked in, I felt like I was attending a Presidential caucus and "the music stopped". Then, immediately we felt at home. They scrambled to clear a booth for us, and from then on the service and food was perfect. I had the corned beef hash, eggs sunny side up, and hash browns cooked well done and crispy. I often order my eggs sunny side up, and hash browns crispy, and rarely is it executed as ordered. Steve's cooked it all perfect. The service from our friendly waitress continued, including always keeping my coffee full and hot. It was just a friendly, well executed breakfast. I liked it here but it was very busy. And very pricey. The service was pretty good considering the volume of people here. Parking was terrible. It was confusing when we walked in what the protocol for seating was and some family was hogging the entire hallway. I got an egg white omelet which I always appreciate and it was good. Waking up to rain sent us out of our tents and looking for a leisurely breakfast in the greater Raymond, Epping, Exeter area. The gps sent us to Steve's Diner. Steve's is what you might expect from a small town diner,minus good service. We waited for more than 10 minutes before receiving menus and another 10 for coffee and water. The omelette and stuffed French toast we ordered took another 20+ minutes to arrive and then a few minutes after that we received silver wear and hot sauce. The food was fine. The eggs were fairly fluffy and the Athenian omelette had good flavor. The stuffed French toast was clearly the main attraction here, piled high with berries and whipped cream- big and delicious for rained on kids. If I ever go back to Steve's Diner, I hope to find a full wait staff that's ready for a rainy morning rush. read more

I will start with something positive -- we had wonderful wait service. As for the food, I can't be quite so positive. I ordered their special breakfast omelette which contained prosciutto and spinach. When it arrived, there was no spinach so I sent it back. When it was returned (fresh omelette) there was no sign of prosciutto, but a ham steak cut into chunks instead. The waitress agreed and apologized a second time, indicating there would be no charge. This place is a hit or miss, some days it's great and other days it's not. I was served boiled potatoes for home fries, no seasoning, not grilled. When I sent them back because the were cold, they were returned barely at room temperature obviously microwave. Again other days we have a great breakfast but not always. Stopped on our way back from vacation. Amazing service and food. We ordered our food during a rush and not only was everything cooked to perfection but it came out within 15 - 20 mins after ordering. Steve's was one of the first places we got breakfast when we moved to Stratham. Housed in what appears to be an old Pizza Hut, Steve's is serving up breakfast, lunch, and dinner to a full house. I've only had breakfast here but I've never been disappointed. Huge portions got very reasonable prices. The staff there is amazing as well. It's a diner I order a chocolate milk and a bottle of nesquick comes out, then comes the blueberry muffin dry and no flavor used about 5 packets of butter. Main dish was a corn beef hash omelette which I think the hash was about a week old and dry so lots of ketchup on that too make it swallowable! They are open! I just got pick up and it was a great experience! Best food ever! I had the steak and cheese omelette, rye toast, side hash browns. An Omelette to go you might question, this was a win and traveled amazing. Filled with basically a steak and cheese sub wrapped in the best cooked omelette ever. A true pro on the flat top. My girlfriend and i went there on a Sunday @ 9:30 A.M. it was busy but their were a few tables and booths open, they are open 7 days a week from 6:00 A.M. - 3:00 P.M. they also serve breakfast all day the waitress was nice the food was good we had good portions all for under $19.00 dollars we will come back here when we are in the area again. read more

The best thing about this place was the host.. Very friendly and always checkin refills on coffee.. The grilled bagel was just a soggy buttery mess.. Went to Steves Diner for breakfast this morning. They serve a wide variety of foods. The portions were extremely generous and the prices are right in line with what you would expect to pay for a nice breakfast. Our waitress was great and extremely attentive. Good local diner that serves breakfast & lunch dishes from 6a-3p. It gets very crowded during the weekends and the small parking lot outside gets packed as well. Inside, the place is relatively small and looks relatively old. Service is not that good as there's not enough wait staff. There was 2 waitresses when I went and the manager/owner (?) didn't really do anything but man the cashier and sometimes place the utensils to the tables. People were waiting to have their order taken! Had a waitress who seemed friendly but rushed as there wasn't enough servers. The place has an food menu with your typical all familiar American food breakfast items, salads and sandwiches. Prices were reasonable ~$6-12 depending on what one orders. Serving size also depended on what one ordered though breakfast plates filled up a dish which was good. A place that serves an endless cup of coffee. Doesn't help much when it's 'Seat yourself!' when tables needed to be cleaned up and people are waiting but there's not enough servers to clean and to serve the customers. Decent food but don't expect much for service which is very slow because it's understaffed. read more

Work at Manchester va, had to bring patient to Exeter hospital. Dropped off patient and headed for breakfast. Saw steves diner pulled in. Friendly place told to sit anywhere. Courtney, waitress came over to take my order. Ordered the biscuits and gravy. Talked with a group of older gentlemen and realized I had forgotten my wallet. Found Courtney and told her to cancel order because I forgot my wallet. Left the building to go get in my car, Courtney came out and said she payed for my breakfast. I was floored. Told her that's not necessary but she said she'd feel bad if I didn't come in. That right there is new hampshire hospitality. Will be back. read more

This place is a great place to go catch a homecooked meal. I happen to enjoy the Kraut dogs, and the Gyros are great menu item as well. The wait staff is nice and the meals are delivered promptly. I have yet to have a bad meal here. From what I hear the meatloaf is pretty good as well. All the meals are priced well usually between $7 - $11. I also suggest the hand cut french fries. The first thing you notice is how friendly the waitresses are. It was my first time there but I was treated as a regular. I had the stuffed french toast with bananas on top- SO GOOD. There is big dollups of whipped cream and a strawberry and cream cheese stuffing, very sweet. My uncle had the western omelette and there was not enough cheese for him but whatever.
