I've been looking for a decent and honest mechanic since I moved here about a year ago and thought I would give Bridge Auto Service a try. I brought my car in for some routine maintenance and minor work. It should have run me in the neighborhood of a couple hundred dollars, tops. I received a call with an estimate for the work that included many additional things that I did not really need to have done--some of them I absolutely knew I did not need because I was not putting as many miles on the car on a daily basis as I had been in the past and had addressed those issues previously. I approved only of the original work I had requested and another problem they found that did need fixing, and asked that the other work not be done. I expected that with the additional work that I did approve of, the cost might have increased by a couple hundred dollars or so. It was more than I wanted to spend, but I was OK with it. The work also took much longer to complete than I had expected. Boy was I wrong. When I came to pick up my car, the bill was just under $1000. I was absolutely shocked. If I sold my car today, it would not fetch the amount that I was charged for what should have been very minor work. After I paid, knowing that causing a fuss wouldn't get me anywhere, the owner proceeded to point out the used car he has for sale on the lot and asked that I tell my friends about them. That and the outrageously overpriced bill were all I needed to hear to know that unfortunately this operation is not as honest and fair as I was led to believe here. I'm giving the shop 2/5 because thus far the work that I was overcharged for seemed to have addressed the problem I needed to have fixed. This reflects 3/5 stars for the actual work on my car (docking because it took far too long considering what I was asking to have done) and 1/5 for fairness.
