I like corned beef hash from time to time, and ordered it from Stevie's this morning without being sure what theirs would be like. It's impossible to ruin hash totally but at so many restaurants you get your eggs on top of an overly salty cake of meat and potatoes that might well have come out of a freezer. Not at Stevie's. To my delight the over-easy eggs (perfectly cooked by the way) were on top of freshly made potatoes and meat, with really fresh-tasting onions and a touch of other vegetables. Replete with flavor and not salted too much. I'd be prepared to say this is the best corned beef hash I've ever had (and at age 69 I am no spring chicken) and well worth the trip. read more

Stopped in here for lunch while driving 101. The food is good - freshly made, hot and good sized portions. I had the avocado, chorizo and cheese omelette - minus the avocado! It was a good amount of egg and chorizo but not nearly enough cheese. The salsa was homemade and spicy - definitely made a statement! My husband had the chorizo scrambled eggs with house potatoes. Both the eggs and potatoes were great. The staff were friendly and helpful - yes, even "the daughter" previously criticized by other reviewers started badly, but then transformed into a very warm person. It's not a place you come to for atmosphere, but for good food it works and the staff clearly work hard. One caveat, the women's restroom needs some work. read more

Arrived at noon on Thursday, place is nearly empty, only a 2-top occupied. The very nice waitress/girl said sit anywhere but I walked past 4 tabletops with crumbs or dishes. She literally failed to clean anything at any point and was on her phone behind the counter. We ordered beers but they had almost nothing listed on the menu. Place looks like they are on the verge of closing down maybe? Just a general disregard for how they present the business. The good was great but being charged $8 for bottled Coors light was odd. Quint spot not too far off the 101 freeway, but wouldn't have known existed as it's not visible from the road. We were towing our travel trailer and were able to find parking. Everyone was very friendly, but the place gave these city slickers the country and cowboy vibes. It might have been everyone walking in were wearing either cowboy boots or rubber boots while we wore flip flops. Oh, and the bathroom signs, lol We felt the prime rib portion was on the smaller side for the price. Our meal and service were fine, nothing that stood out except for the cheesy toast. To start, my lemonade had like visible mold floating in it... The raspberry tea had like old milk in the bottom, which made me wonder if they had cleaned their cups beforehand. And then a new one was given to me and it had like black pepper like things in it so I didn't drink any of my drinks. I just didn't feel like asking for a new one anymore. While in the shopping center me and wife saw this place. Never noticed it before. After seeing reviews decided to try it out for breakfast. There is plenty of parking since it is in a shopping center. Walked in and seated right away. The restaurant seemed a little outdated and my menu was dirty. Some gravy or something on it. So first impressions not great. Staff was very friendly throughout our meal. Coffee was never empty and was checked in several times. They informed us of their popular items so we tried two of them. The wife got the red chilaquiles and I got the chicken fried steak which came with eggs hash browns and I chose pancakes. Per wife the best chilaquiles she has ever had. We used to go there all the time years past and food was always good. They should be closed down....first Of all the restaurant was so dirty, from the floors, to the tables, to the bathrooms. Called before we went because we wanted Chicken Fried Steak and they said they had it. Got there and was told they didn't have gravy. Ended up ordering something different. Service was awful. Had to ask for syrup. My food was getting cold before I got it. When I went to pay, they tried to overcharge me. I took one of the menus that was lying on the counter and showed it to the women (also very rude)that I was overcharged). She changed the price and was annoyed that I brought it to her attention. We went to Stevie's today, realizing it was Father's Day. It took a very long time for our food. I requested soft scrambled eggs. They were overcooked. We sent them back and they were worse the second time. I did not eat them. The server first said they were very crowded and it would be awhile. The busser Was was great, very professional and apologetic. This is the second time we have been there recently. The first time, we left because it took forever for a food to come out. We wanted to stay local and support a business in the shopping center. Based on this experience, I don't think we will be going back problems with food twice since we've had the same slow service and problems with food twice. The pancakes were delicious. I wrote a review in mid 2024 and for some reason it's disappeared, even from the hidden reviews, so here's another try: First of all they have the best Chicken Fried Steak I've ever had, and I'm a CFS gourmet ;-). But here's the typical meal experience: walk in, sit down at a wobbly table, and wait for one of the two teen girls to get off their phone long enough to come over and drop off menus. Ask for coffee and water, wait. Get coffee, no water. One of the giggling girls texting with one of her boyfriends saunters over and takes the order. I ask for water again. Food is delivered, and the third time I get the water. For some totally inexplicable reason they keep NOTHING on the tables! Really? Could I get some salt? Thanks, could I get some pepper? Thanks. Do you have any ketchup? Good deal. Say, would you have any hot sauce back there? OK, could I get a couple of little jellies for the toast? (No choice on type, they just drop off what they have.) Could I please get some cream for the coffee? Regular cream, not that flavored stuff. Do you have any napkins please? JHC, give me a break! Then enjoy the great CFS. Then again trying to get their attention. Hello, could I get some more coffee, and could you spare another cream packet? Then they're gone for good. I see a woman and her husband sitting up front futilely trying to get the attention of the one of the texting girls to get some coffee. She actually gets up, walks to the counter and asks the one completely non-functional girls for the coffee. The girl looks irritated, and briefly nods while snapping her gum. THEN giggles and takes the phone over to the other girl for a huddle and excited confab for 5 minutes! THEN she finally saunters over to get the pot of coffee for that annoying customer! One of the girls is family to the owner, the other her friend. Now we get to the real problem here, aside from the two teen girls who are casually destroying hard working Stevie's business. That is that the posted menu prices bear no relation to what they have programmed into the state of the art point-of-sale terminal they have! I actually have the weird Boomer ability (which is completely alien to Gen Z's), to do simple math in my head: CFS: $16, coffee $3, plus 9.25% sales tax, round that up to 10%. That's $19 plus a max of $1.90, so approximately $20.75. AND here's the bill, just short of $24. Me: "No, that's not right!" The girl in between text messages: "You forgot the tax!" Me: "No, I didn't; tax is 9.25% here, not 25%, which is what this is working out to." Sigh! Roll eyes! Unreasonable irritating customer! Can't you see we have more important things to do!? Then here comes Stevie, knowing full well that the prices programmed into the terminal are higher than the posted menu prices, but doubles down on the "sales tax" excuse! And we go round and round and round. How disingenuous! Meanwhile there's a growing line behind you as you selfishly hold everyone up for "only" a few dollars! Finally they slowly and grumpily and with much visible irritation make an "exception" for you. Ookay. So I have to downgrade it to 1 star for the experience, and add an extra star for the efforts of the cook. Bottom line, I'm back at Country Kitchen down the hill and across Vierra Canyon, with Rick expertly running things. Everything you could need is already on the non-wobbly table, the wait staff actually _waits_ on you, if you do need something extra there are 4 or 5 people all over it, and the pricing on the bill always matches the menu. AND they have the same uncanny Boomer superpower to be able to correctly calculate sales tax. Not to mention the food is excellent. Good food or not, I refuse to patronize a place where you're routinely ignored, and then gaslighted as to how they calculated your bill. The best thing they could do here is hire just two wait staff that actually WANT to work, and get new menus and program those EXACT prices into their terminal. But, after talking to other people recently I don't think that's going to happen anytime soon. read more

We stopped in just for a small bite and drink while house hunting. Was cutely decorated country western and clean. Time was 130pm and there was only one other party there eating. The server seemed annoyed we were there so I double checked the hours(the close at 8 according to the door sign). We ordered sodas and a hot fudge sundae but they were out of ice cream so we went with just fries. When husband needed a drink refill we were ignored a few times and she seemed really upset about something. I texted my husband that I didn't feel welcome and we waited for the check to leave. I gave the Friday night prime rib dinner a try. Mistake. I requested med-rare, it was well done and was thin cut and did not resemble a prime rib. Worst prime rib I've ever had. The potato texture was like a re-heated day old boiled potato that was pre-smashed. I've never had a bake potato pre-smashed in a restaurant. No condiments were offered for the potato, no horseradish for the meat. The garlic bread was hard on one side, inedible. Salad was a bit of iceberg lettuce with a slice of unripe tomato cut in half. We went to Stevies yesterday for a late lunch. I had heard a lot mostly good but some not so good so I didn't know what to expect. The restaurant was totally empty when we got there. I wasn't overly impressed with they decor but that's not why I was there. They have a fairly large menu that included both breakfast and dinner but not overwhelming. I chose the club sandwich with curly fries, my husband chose the chicken fried steak. I have to say that the fries were really good and crispy. The club sandwich was good. The bread was perfect. Bacon was good. The turkey was regular deli turkey. Maybe around Thanksgiving they'll cook turkey in-house. My husband said the chicken fried steak was good. I took a bite and it was ok but I've been searching for the perfect chicken fried steak since I left Texas. Stevies is located in the prunedale shopping center, hadn't been previously but they have been open for 3 years is what I'm told. Took the folks there looking for a new place to have lunch. Stevies is a American style eatery with just a touch of Mexican, with Chilaquiles mixed into the menu. We found the food to be delicious, fresh and good portions. Although I don't ever award 5 stars or actually seldom do. I found Stevies to have great food, great service and very clean. There was a large room to the right as you walk in, which seemed to have recently occupied by a large group and that was understandably not attended to yet. So I gave it 5 stars and hope you all find it enjoyable as well. Gives Stevies a try if you are looking for a more family oriented restaurant. Enjoy!!! read more

Called ahead to let them know we were coming with a party of 10, they don't take reservations. 4 of our party showed up at 11, the other 6 at 11:06am. Our first half had nothing but dirty tables to sit at. The busser then came and cleaned the table while we waited for menus and place settings. Could not get them to take our order until 11:40! We weren't served breakfast until almost 1pm! The waitress was rude, condescending, talked back to us, and overall should not be waiting tables. The food was delicious, although we never got all of it! We won't be back. The owner has been in this business long enough to know better. I am very disappointed today, this is the second time we came for the buffet, and they did not have it. The service wasn't friendly. We weren't checked on for refills until our food came. This was the worst service I've had in a long time. I ordered the croissant with sausage. Waitress informed me that the egg was normally over hard, but I wanted over medium. Had to send back to have them cooked how I wanted. The food was delicious, just the service sucked. They never checked on us. If we needed anything, we had to find them. Most of their time was hanging behind the counter. The regulars were treated awesomely and got all the attention. Because of the food, we have been trying to support this business. However the place is often visibly dirty and the men's room is disgusting, like I've seen cleaner bathrooms in the NY subway. Since it's family run there are kids sometimes hanging out around the restaurant and in the kitchen, which makes me wonder about the cleanliness of the kitchen. Service and food are hit or miss. Breakfast is probably the safest bet, but there are better options nearby for consideration. read more

The price was a bit high, the service (take-out) was kind of slow (I watched our order set out by the chef and waited while the counter staff finished up some chores before getting my food), and the burger was pretty bland.
