Chicken fried steak eggs and has browns.
    Derek R.

While in the shopping center me and wife saw this place. Never noticed it before. After seeing reviews decided to try it out for breakfast. There is plenty of parking since it is in a shopping center. Walked in and seated right away. The restaurant seemed a little outdated and my menu was dirty. Some gravy or something on it. So first impressions not great. Staff was very friendly throughout our meal. Coffee was never empty and was checked in several times. They informed us of their popular items so we tried two of them. The wife got the red chilaquiles and I got the chicken fried steak which came with eggs hash browns and I chose pancakes. Per wife the best chilaquiles she has ever had. They were spicy and she ate the whole plate. Mine was also really good. The pancakes in top 5. Hash browns cooked perfectly and chicken fried steak was delicious. Will definitely be back.

    Hangry much?

It's super cute, and the owner is super welcoming. When we went it wasn't busy, & food was tasty. Prices are affordable & felt really relaxed. We didn't feel pressured to leave after we were done eating. It's located next to my dentist in Prunedale.

Ate here when it first opened was not a fan. Small portions service was slow and the place was empty. But I have not been there in years.

Place is just gross and unclean. My favorite part is the printer on the bar right in the middle. Place won't last another year.

I understand they have a closing time of 8:30, and was happy to just get served, but I feel like it's a missed opportunity not to just stay open until 9pm on Friday's and Saturdays? Weak! What's the difference? I guess it's just a Prunedale thing. The waitress was nice and offered me a water while I waited. Water tasted weird even with a lemon wedge squeezed into it. To-go bag came fully loaded with chips salsa and avocado dressing which I appreciated. Everyone seemed cool there and they were playing music in the back and having fun which was good to see they have a positive work culture here. I ordered the chicken enchiladas and would rate them a 6/10. Raw red onions on top seemed out of place and it was covered in way too much cheese that wasn't melted so I removed that. The chicken was slightly dry and fine but didn't seem super fresh... I was pretty hungry so I enjoyed it enough to almost finish it. It was a good portion and price point of $18 seemed correct. I think you just need to know what to order here. I came here before and I would highly recommend their ceviche. I would have rated them a 3/5 but don't really feel the need to hurt their score at all but they could do better for what they're presenting.

We finally got the chance to check it out. We arrived on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. The Prunedale Market is located along side the highway 101 freeway in the small town of Prunedale. It just takes a few long right turns to get there. Parking is easy and accessible out in the front parking lot. From the front, the market does not look like a popular BBQ spot. It looks like a simple small market store to grab quick snacks and drinks. Once inside there is a BBQ and deli section to your right. A small dining area is to your left. The decor is old fashioned and quaint. The 2 gentlemen greet you with friendly hospitality. We ordered the Tri tip sandwich, half slab of ribs which includes 2 potatoes and a cup of corn chowder. The pit master/owner Martin, who use to work for Original Joe's, was kind enough to also include a quarter chicken leg, a sausage, and extra ribs. It was so much food for our party of 3. Everything was delicious and hearty. The Tri tip sandwich was scrumptious with the flaming Fritos adding a nice crunchy texture and kick with every bite. The ribs were juicy and smokey. Potatoes complemented very well with the rest of the meat and chicken. Corn chowder was so tasty and creamy. I did not know corn chowder was that good. Overall we enjoyed our experience at the Prunedale Market. The staff were super nice and accommodating. They even offered for our son to grab some free ice cream to go. We politely declined. The prices were very reasonable. All that food fed us for the next 2 days. Lol. We hope to be back when we are in the area with other friends and family.

The inside of the restaurant is nice and clean. There is a large beautiful mural on one of the walls that really stands out. We started with a tempura mix appetizer. This is the first time I have had tempura veggies that were soggy. Not crunchy at all, which took away from the taste and experience. The dipping sauce also lacked flavor. For my dish, I ordered their salmon teriyaki and crunch roll lunch. It came with miso soup, salad, and rice. The miso soup was good. The salad dressing was delicious. The salmon was unfortunately overcooked and a bit stiff. The rice was dry too and not the typical sushi rice that I am used to, so that took away from the tastiness of the meal. The crunch roll was not my favorite. The sauce drizzled on top was spicy, but I did like it. There was not much of a crunch for a crunch roll. I unfortunately did not have a great experience with the food as some items were soggy or dry and they are not supposed to be. The salad dressing and miso soup were the tastiest items I tried.

The servers know us well and greet us, we typically eat there once or twice per week. Their salsa is fresh and delicious (fresh roasted tomatoes and jalapeños) however the spice level can vary depending on the jalapeños peppers they use. Chips and salsa are free. Fresh made tortillas are a great addition to their meals. Their Spanish rice and refried beans are delicious, I could have just rice and beans with flour tortillas and be perfectly satisfied. For Breakfast, the Chorizo and eggs is my favorite served with rice and beans (country potatoes are an option) with corn or flour tortillas. My wife enjoys their pancakes. I enjoy their Coffee as well. For Lunch from 11AM to 3PM, they have several combination specials, but I like their red burrito. A meat filled (choice of carnitas, carne asada, shredded beef, chili Colorado and more) burrito covered with enchilada sauce and cheese served with Spanish rice, refried beans and a small salad with sour cream and guacamole. Carnitas dinner is another great choice. My wife loves their deep fried or grilled shrimp, but her favorite dish lately has been the chile rellanos. This is a hole in the wall joint, just good food at a decent price. Due to its popularity, we try to go during off hours between the crowds. After reading some of the one-star reviews I was disappointed, but noticed the number of reviews is relatively few for the number of customers this restaurant serves. Yes, if they are busy, service can suffer as they may only have one or two servers working both the customers in the restaurant and all the takeout orders. Are they perfect every time, of course not. However being local and wanting to support a good local restaurant, we understand the difficulties in running a popular business and a little inconsistency is expected. Unfortunately prices have gone up over the years as inflation impacts everyone.
