I have lived here my entire life and have driven past Country Kitchen forever and have never eaten here. A couple of months ago, my boss was raving about it and I decided to check it out. SOOOOOOOO GOOD! The food is delicious and the staff is AMAZING! A++++++ The customer service is EVERYTHING. They are super sweet, helpful, patient, attentive, friendly...everything you would want to experience when you are dining. No frills or thrills diner menu, but they are consistent in what they make and how they make it. Simplicity with a hint of homemade food that just hits the spot every time. Server/staff are welcoming and very pleasant. This remind of me of home ( or where I used to call home before moving to the area) and the way people treat each other, with respect, dignity, good ol semi-but-not-quite-southern-ish hospitality. The food is nothing special, this isn't some fancy overpriced restaurant like so many in the area, but it's done right and is very tasty. I've yet to have a bad meal and we've come here very often. The interior could benefit from some minor updates ( specifically some of the worn out booths) but again, it's a very nice restaurant that gets packed repeatedly and for good reason. Food is good, portions are decent, the prices are very good, especially for the area and service is great. There are other options in the area but Country Kitchen is the only restaurant that attracts both locals and commuters alike for their speed and consistent service. Speed being mentioned, don't expect fast food, but one can reasonably come in get seated, order, get served, eat, pay and be on your way within 20-30 minutes depending on your party's size. One thing to note though, if you happen to come during a "rush hour", expect to wait a little as their line will go out to the parking lot. read more

When I pull into a diner this is what I expect. The food is what I remember and indeed what I want. I go for the breakfast and am not surprised that is what that they have. I am however always surprised by how good the food has remained and I personally feel it is value for money. Just a little restaurant off the 101 in Prunedale. Inexpensive but doable. I would recommend trying. Dogs are allowed to sit at or on the counter, so there's that. But nice family and friendly place. Stopped here for breakfast. The workers are friendly. The inside looks like an older country diner. Had an order of French Toast. Nothing fancy but done right and enough to fill you up. The other order was a minced ham scramble. With a name like that I was expecting small pieces of ham but was surprised by good size and thick pieces of ham. The hash browns have a butter taste to them and that makes them some of the best I've had in a while. Definitely didn't leave hungry. read more

I went here yesterday with my parents. Wow! The place has become huge! There is now a huge room in the back with a bar. It is a nice layout but needs now some ambiance like I could see framed prints on the walls. We sat near the windows that overlooked that highway and my dad kept on thinking about what would happen if a drunk driver moved off the road and rammed into the restaurant...very unlikely but still a scary thought. There were however cars parked right next to the window which were just a few inches away from where we were sitting. Anyhow, my dad suggested we go there because online he saw the prices on their website were reasonable. When we got there, we noticed the prices had gone up. So, the website was not updated apparently. 99% of the entrees are about $15 each and there were no specials yesterday. I ordered the blueberry pancakes which is actually a bargain at about $9 and I fully enjoyed it. The pancakes were absolutely delicious. But my parents who shared a breakfast entree apparently were not too impressed. read more

I found service was fast, friendly & efficient. I go there for their breakfast items of waffles and their premium wonderful two blueberry pancakes. Yummy more blueberries than any other restaurant on earth. A very nice experience. If you go Sat/Sun get there by 7:30am if you want to sit upfront, tho they have a spacious back area. read more

A friend and I dined here today and the service was good, the food was hot and delicious and the weather perfect! This is a cute, homey place that I came to for breakfast with a group of 4. The wait time was minimal and we were seated in a nice and comfortable booth. The interior was spacious with a bar area up front and more seating toward the back. There were cozy touches all around and a very friendly, welcoming vibe. I ended up sharing several menu items (both breakfast and lunch) with my friends: Egg scramble with country potatoes, chocolate chip pancakes, fish and chips, salad and bread. The egg scramble consisted of ham, mushroom, onion, green peppers and melted cheddar cheese. This was pretty good, but tasted standard - It didn't really jump out at me. The country potatoes were just okay - Kind of bland. I think I would have liked the hashbrowns better. The side of pancakes were enjoyable. Extremely moist and fluffy, though I didn't feel that there were enough chocolate chips. The salad and bread wasn't very good, as the salad was a typical salad and was served way too chilled. The bread was lightly toasted and not very flavoful. Fish and chips were yummy! Probably my favorite out of what we ordered. The fish was incredibly crispy and had plenty of flavor, while the french fries were nicely crunchy and had great potato goodness! The service was solid - our waitress was personable and everything was brought out in a timely manner. Also, I found the pricing to be quite reasonable. Great little Diner on HWY 101 in Prunedale. Awesome breakfast options. I had the Chicken Fried Steak and eggs with homestyle potatoes. Just delicious. The portions are generous. The staff is so friendly and a attentive. I decided to stop in for lunch on another trip down south and ordered the Ranch Burger. That came with fries however I sub the Onion Rings.
