We began working with Stewart Land Designs a few months ago to begin designing both the front and backyard of our house. We just received the first draft for our design and we have to say we are already blown away by their attention to detail, the creative and functinal design, and especially that they listened to every single thing that was important to us. We have been through the design plan with other companies and felt discouraged before working with Stewart Land Designs. When other companies put together designs that were nothing like what we wanted. Stephen and Jon designed exactly what we dreamed of, most of it without pictures and just by truly listenling to us. Yes, they have a design fee which does go towards your poject, yes I was worried about this too but after receiving the very first design plan, we realize it is worth every penny. We feel everything was so well thought out. We have a very challenging yard and they took the time to thoroughly work though the plan to make sure it was perfect, to make sure our current drainage issues were corrected, to make sure that we save the beautiful oak trees that we have by working around them, by utilizing every inch we could since we also have easements to work with as well, adding creative touches like the old world style door to help with privacy between neighbors yet still having a beautiful design touch and even down to making a space for our garbage cans...They thought of everything! The process did take longer than expected, but they communicated with us and seeing all the hard work, thought, and challenging aspects of our yard, we are so thankful they did not rush this portion of the project. We are extremely pleased with everyone we have worked with from the staff in the office, the owners, designers, everyone that has come out to our home and we are very pleased with the results we have seen thus far. The quality of their design work is far superior to anythng we have seen. We have also begun working with their lawn service as well. Their crews are so professional. They cut, trimmed, and fixed problems we didnt even realize would affect the look of our yard in such a positive way. Our yard looks so much better and i am so thankful for the great job they are doing. I was home when they came by and their crews took the time to ask me about a few things in my yard, what I preferred, and how I wanted things. I truely appreciate them taking the time to make sure our yard was the way we wanted it...what a great concept! Over all we are very pleased with every aspect of the company we have encountered. My yard is a masterpiece. Stewart Land Design did the landscape and walkway that leads up to my home close to 6 years ago. Not a person walks up to our home that does not comment on its unique beauty and exceptional workmanship. I loved it so much I had him do our backyard. My only regret is that I did not find him before we had our pool build. His work is one of a kind. What Steward Land Design does is beyond landscaping. He increased the value of my home and created something that feeds my soul daily. I firmly believe that you get what you pay for. There are many talented architectural landscapers. Stephen Stewart is gifted. There are many painters, but one Michelangelo. Many, today want a Michelangelo for the price of a sidewalk portrait. I believe Stewart Land Design prices reflect the level of creativity and workmanship.I believe a man should be paid for his creativity. Anyone can dig a hole, but created a vision that is a skill that should be compensated. It was an expense, but one that has paid off. I could not afford to do everything he had in mind, but what he did for me was well worth it. I have passed his name on to many who have been extremely happy with his work. Of dozens of people only one did not use him because they were looking for a landscaper not an artist. I do not usually write reviews, but was surprised that the many who are happy with his work have not spoken out. And as an Aggie supporter who married into a family of Aggies, I can tell you that Stephen Stewart is a man of integrity and a true Aggie. He holds a degree from the School of Architecture: Horticulture from Texas A& M University, class of '06 I believe, and was recognized as a member of the 2012 Aggie 100. Stewart Land Design completed a job in backyard to my upmost satisfaction. The attention to detail from the owner and all crews were excellent. I tend to be very particular and detailed oriented myself and it was nice to have that same frame of mind from the owner. It definitely kept the stress down in what was a major job. The final product looked very similar to the original design plan with additional tweaks made during construction that yielded a better finished product (at minimal additional cost as staying on budget was a must). The crews that worked on my yard only had my satisfaction in mind and worked tirelessly to get all aspects just right - even if it meant redoing work. Whenever I had any questions, it was very easy to get in contact with the owner or his staff. They were very patient and took care of any concerns. They listened to my wants during the job and DID NOT pressure me at all. Overall, the owner and his crews are perfectionists and it shows in their work. You will get quality that shows in the final product and will last for years. As for qualifications, the owner has a degree from Texas A&M that is openly displayed in his office. Additional staff also hold degrees in landscape architecture. The owner is happy to provide photos from completed jobs and can also provide references upon request. Based on my experience with Stewart Land Designs, I am surprised at the quantity of negative reviews on this site, particularly from reviewers who never made it past the design phase. As a client who has worked with Stephen from the project planning stage through project completion, I can honestly say that I am thoroughly enjoying my yard and highly recommend Stewart Land Designs. read more

Our friends suggested them at the beginning of their project and we had a design (it was 200$ more than our friends) the design was nice and the 3D model sold us on it however as our friends project dragged on and on they expressed their displeasure with having been talked into going with them even though their project was 21K over their budget and was 3 weeks over schedule. We decided to go elsewhere. I agree with all of the reviews (with exception of the one) of course its biased..We ended up going with another company. this was last year and our project was just completed this past week. it was a 4 week project stewart stated would take 8 weeks. our friends came over and said they wished they had gone with someone else. I personally have never met an individual as arrogant as the owner at stewart land or as pretentious for someone with a "horticulture" degree! We had a budget of 100K and stewart was 52K over that budget not to mention ALL of our ideas that would be functional for our family were completely disregarded as well as the budget. The woman who answers the phone is a well spoken and courteous lady but it all stops there. Stating that they are a "michealangelo" is a gross misrepresentation and obviously completely fabricated. A neighbor referred us to Stewart Land Designs. Stephen extended their patio and porch and we were impressed with their work. Our budget would only let us extend our patio and Stephen worked with us diligently to stay within our budget. We sat down with him, drew up the plans and within a couple of days he began working on our patio. It did take longer than expected, but that was due to inclement weather. Stephen maintained contact throughout the entire process to let us know when they would proceed to the next step. In life, nothing works perfectly; if we had a question or an issue, Stephen was on site within minutes. He was hands on with the entire project and even introduced us to his contractor, Mike. Mike and Stephen, both, were very professional and were very informative during the process. This is the first time we have hired anyone to renovate our house. I was thoroughly impressed with the overall package that Stewart Land Designs provides and I would recommend them and/or use them again for any future projects. read more

We had Stewart Land Designs create a comprehensive, 3D design for our entire yard including our long term plan of adding a pool. They had a lot innovative ideas that gave us lots of options to pick and choose and work within our budget. They were great at listening to our needs and wants and then fitting them into a plan we were excited about and comfortable with. We then had them implement much of the plan, including extending our covered back patio, landscaping our front and side yard, and incorporating a textured concrete pathway between our front courtyard and back patio. The work was done in a timely manner according to their schedule. All employees / workers we interacted with were extraordinarily professional and knowledgable. They were quick to answer any questions and responded appropriately to any concerns. I would highly recommend them! Their work is beautiful, creative, and very high quality. read more

I had JR & the crew back out to do more work on my drainage, fix my front lawn, spread some mulch, and add edging to my landscaping. It's been a few weeks and everything still looks wonderful and green. The guys had me scheduled for a day, but the work took longer so they brought an even bigger crew out the next day to make sure it all got finished (even when it poured the morning of the second day and I wasn't sure if they'd come out given out soggy and muddy my yard was). I've worked with a few other companies that were more in my budget, but like other things in life, you get what you pay for. Expect to pay a little more for these guys, but it's money well spent. read more

Our backyard space was completed a year ago and it still lives up to our expectations. We asked Stewart Land Designs to come up with a way to utilize our desolate backyard space and they did. We compared prices with other companies and Stewart Land Designs was well within other companies' price range. We made sure to compare like items not just the bottom line. We wanted a company that could show us what could be and they did. It did not stop us from offering our own personal insights. read more

They were very professional and quickly gave us a fresh, long lasting update to the entrance of our business. Agreed with the other reviews. I do not think budget is a word at Stewart Land Designs. We used the over priced design we HAD to pay for when we eventually received the prints we went with a more professional company who was 45k$ cheaper. Just could not stomach dealing with the owner at stewart land designs. And the owner DOES NOT have a degree in landscape design as he loves to tell he does. read more

This was by far the best experience working with these guys! I would recommend this team to any one. Found the problem and got it done in under 24 hours.
