Stopped here with my boyfriend on the way back home from Maryland to New Jersey. It was Super Bowl Sunday, so our original plan was to get a quick lunch and get back in time to watch the game. Didn't happen. We were so impressed by the food, drinks, and atmosphere that we decided to stay for an embarrassingly long number of hours and watch the game here. I had the Kangaroo Burger with side of veggies and my boyfriend had the Mac'n'cheese with BBQ brisket. Both were very good, but I'd have to say my favorite dish was the order of chipotle wings we got during the game. The flavor was great with just the right amount of spice. Drinks were also great! My boyfriend sampled some of the house brews and I stuck to the specialty drink menu. I'd have to say my top two favorite were the "Not your Uncle's Root Beer" made from the house root beer and the Orange Creamsicle. It was definitely a good choice to stay during the Super Bowl. There was a free box-pool going around offering a $20 gift card to the winners of each quarter, and we ended up winning in the first! Unfortunately, we live a little too far and wouldn't be in the area anytime soon to use the gift card, but we were able to buy 4 beer glasses with it instead. Now we have something to remember it by :) I wish we lived closer, because we would definitely visit this place on a regular basis. read more

Good food and drinks. They have a nice selection of more unusual dishes. They take what would be a average dish and add their own unique twist. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Super friendly staff.. Every beer had its own flavor. It was a refreshing flight of beer! We did not try the food other than the bacon wrapped plantains. Good flavor and good suggestion by the bartender. Only thing I would change is the bathrooms needed some work, it looks like the trash container was ripped off the wall.. then drunk asshole wrote on it... so just a cosmetic fix! read more

This bar/restaurant is always a good stop for a beer and burger. They have a lot of good food choices and everything on the menu is good. I always go on Tuesdays to half price burgers which are a good size patty with plenty of meat. They are also a brewing company so they always have different beer available to try. read more

My elk burger was excellent and my mom and her husband quite enjoyed their food as well. Would definitely eat there again. Used to be a nice neighborhood place for good beer and typical pub fare meals. It's still a nice neighborhood place, friendly crowd, mixed age including young families. Lot's of TV's with sports and during a big game the place is fun without being too rowdy. Food is very inconsistent. Sorry to say that more often than not it's pretty bad. Most of the time we go about half of the people in the group give the meal a thumbs down. The beer used to be quite respectable they were one of the only two (Iron Hill being the other) brew pubs in New Castle County. All of the beer no matter what the variety tastes like a Stewart's beer. The quality has slipped while at the same time microbrews and other better brew pubs have raised the bar. Stewart's is not really bad at anything and not really good at anything either. It's still a nice neighborhood place where the regulars don't overpower or dominate the atmosphere. I found this place on a search for a great Buzztime trivia location within 50 miles of my location, for I love playing trivia against and with other people. I noticed it was only 35 miles or so away and it was one of the best trivia locations in the country, not just near me, so I made the decision and drove there. It is connected to a strip mall in Bear, Delaware, but it is pulled off awesomely. The place looks great from the exterior...and even better inside. On a Wednesday night around 8 pm, there was a nice mix of restaurateurs and patrons at the bar. To my surprise, there were 17 people playing trivia on the TV's, the most I've ever seen! The atmosphere was great! There were two dartboards against the north wall, a shuffleboard table against the west wall, a huge restaurant area to the east. There were numerous TV's around (half HD Flat screens/half generic (for trivia purposes)). They feature a ton of handcrafted award-winning beers, modestly priced at $4 to $5 a pint. They also have water...or...Coors Light on tap and plenty of domestic/imported bottles. I tried seven different drafts and my favorites included the Stewart's Irish Red and the Coffee Stout. As far as the food goes, I started with the Potato Skins ($10) which was a special. It came with a side salad with vinaigrette dressing on the side and three potato skins, two with broccoli, chicken, and cheese and one with crab imperial. The potato skins were not crunchy but the broccoli/chicken/cheese was tasty. The crab imperial potato skin did have a funky taste to it. I could not put my finger on it, but I didn't like it. The salad was fresh and everything a side salad should be... The second course was a cuban sandwich which was pretty tasty. The pickle that came with the course was definitely not a Vlasic. There was ZERO crunch to it at all. Overall, this place had a great atmosphere and tasty beers but the food could use a little bit of work. I would go back here in a heartbeat, but I would try different courses. read more

Have been twice and had an absolute blast both times. Brought my wife and daughter for an earlyish dinner Saturday and it was great. The restaurant has a nice, open design and never feels super crowded, even when there are a lot of people in there. The beers they brew are excellent - they have four or five staples and a few special ones, usually nine or ten all told. Didn't have a bad one Saturday night, that's for sure. Food and service were exceptional. Kelsey was our waitress and couldn't have been sweeter. She was attentive but gave us our time and space - perfect. The chicken nachos were a great starter - really delicious and quality. My wife and daughter liked the sweet potato waffle fries very much. I thought the fish and chips were excellent, and the breaded scallop basket special was also very good. My daughter loved the kids mac & cheese, which came with veggies on the side. We had two desserts as well, a slice of strawberry chocolate cake and a piece of vanilla caramel cake. Both were yummy. Price was right, looking forward to going back soon. Clean bathrooms, friendly staff. I rate beers on the pint scale. 0-5 pints that I can drink in a night. Wry George: pronounced rye flavor. Light not bitter. 4 pints. Golden walrus imperial Pilsner: a sweet Pilsner. A little sweet for my taste. 2 pints. Mischief night pumpkin ale: pumpkin pie in a beer. Not too sweet great spice level. 3 pints. Oktoberfest: slightly sweet on the finish. Not heavy or bitter. 2 pints. Irish red ale: like a killians. Not too bitter or heavy. 4 pints. Governors golden ale: easy drinking. Goes with everything. Like a coors light or amstel light. 5 pints. Highlander stout: almost Guinness. Dare I say its better? Not as bitter and light for a stout. 4 pints. Whacky wheat ale: standard wheat ale. Light with a subtle wheat flavor. I repeat not heavy for a wheat. 4 pints. Food was tasty, but nothing special. I ordered a buffalo chicken sandwhich, MMM (main man muncher) got the game berger which was venison. Ice cream made with their beers was the highlight of the menu. read more

We came here last night for a work Christmas party with a group of 16. We had one server for our entire table and she did a great job. She was fast and efficient and was able to break up the check separately for everyone, which made paying very easy for us. The beer selection was great. I sampled a few of their homemade brews and was not disappointed with any of them. Everyone also seemed very happy with their food choices. Of course the menu is bar food, but everything was good. The buffalo chicken mac n cheese was excellent. I would definitely return, especially to watch a game and sample their beers. read more

Finding myself now in Bear, DE I have discovered Stewarts right around the corner from my house! I had never been in until my friend said, "have you gone yet?" so he took me for my first Stewarts experience.. I think they have a great selection of beers!! Most likely the best brew pub I've been to out here. Its a very laid back setting and all of the servers are great. Its kind of like the local cheers bar I call it. haha.. I ordered a 4 taste sampler, all were from the seasonal menu: Hefe (solid), pumpkin (fantastic), oyster stout (smokey and light, fantastic, but not oyster-y though), and anniversary ale (color and clarity are shocking, taste is so complex, I could drink it all day, phenomenal). Hubby got their seasonal IPA, again very good. As far as their menu, as someone who prefers vegetarian, there were very few options for a meal. Yeah they had fries and salad, but I wanted something substantial. Had to go with the crab sandwich, It was delicious and substantial justifying the cost. This is a great place to hang out, have a beer, and have a good time. I've been here multiple times over the years and love their changing beer menu. Their food is great, especially love the burgers. I even here when my sister rented the back room for her rehearsal dinner and it was a great experience. The beer menu changes seasonally, though there are some standby brews that are there year-round. The atmosphere can be a little loud at times and it carries due to the large dining area which has the bar in the center. There are televisions everywhere for good viewing angles no matter pretty much where you sit. The waitstaff are normally very pleasant and service has been attentive. Good beer, I love that they make their own. I've been to "Hoppy Hour" twice now (M-F 4-7), specials $3 House beers, $4 select seasonal beers. Nice environment, good place to hang out. The wild game burger (Antelope) was tasty, and I can't wait to try the next game selection. The pint of cheese curds are delicious, and I highly recommend. Stewart's is my favorite local bar, even better they have excellent craft beer. They are a true brew pub. Their in house made brews are always great. Even better is their daily food features. They have a specials menu everyday. Four to five special appetizers and entrees, using lots of locally sourced and in season ingredients. The crabcake sandwich is on their traditional menu and is awesome, huge with lump crab meat. The cheese curds with raspberry sauce is my favorite appetizer. Great happy hour and Tuesdays is 1/2 price burgers. Awesome bartenders and management. read more

Go! The menu is delicious. Try the side salads, fries, Brussels sprouts, crab cakes and burgers. The drinks are solid, and their happy hour is worth the time. However, avoid the nachos- the are oddly void of flavor. If you're considering this bar, give it a try. I highly doubt you'll be disappointed. read more

We stopped by on the way home from the beach for lunch. Very pleasantly surprised to get the best crab cake sandwich ever and a very solid flight of beers.
