Wonderful but expensive baked goods (5 plus ) , the owners are terrific hard-working people, and we would like to support the store. But the assorted employees usually look disinterested and apathetic and it is frankly getting old, at least on weekends, so the endeavor does not appear to be scaling well as far as service goes. Service on a weekend is typically painfully slow and disorganized and getting more irritating as the months go by but I kept trying to give them another chance. Tried to order some takeout sandwiches and buy some grocery items at 11 am on a Saturday and was ignored for fifteen minutes, not even acknowledged, by a slow young counter server, while three customers who had come after me who had muzzled into a better spot for getting attention and had pushier personalities were served first. I guess they have enough business now to tide them over a few more years until they retire, and do not need more customers or will just go on fine with serving the locals and the pushier guests instead of people who wait their turn. So sad to see the attitudes of employees in a family run store become surlier than at fast food places. read more

After a Salt Point hike we just needed food. Tried The Store for the first time. Delighted. A Perfect mix of Deli and luncheon goods and bakery specials. Served quickly and politely, the place was very clean and organised. Also got chunky candy bars to go from the retro racks. read more

We stopped here on our way into Sea Ranch to pick up some provisions and lunch. The food was really good. We picked up a couple of their ready made meals, beef stroganoff and a cobb salad, in addition to bread and some staples such as sausage, eggs, and bread. We came back the next day for coffee and sandwiches. Friday night they have pizza and we wish we could have fit that in. read more

This one of my favorite places to stop on the coast drive: Stewarts Point Store has been a family-owned business since 1868. It is a real "mercantile" with everything locals and visitors need: food, clothing, hunting & fishing gear, gifts & souvenirs, supplies for campers, plus gas & oil, and a front porch for locals to sit and gossip... and provide a wealth of area information to visitors. I visited for my first time today, and enjoyed an excellent spinach feta quiche. My son & I have always enjoyed Twofish Bakery, and I was delighted they have taken over the Stewarts Point Store. With that in mind, all reviews prior to June 1, 2016 are not relevant to this current business. Their forte has always been their baked goods, but they also offer sandwiches, calzones, quiche, ice cream sundaes, and may make bread and pizzas in the future. In addition they have a large selection of drinks and snacks, including salads. They have 5 seats at the counter, more seating inside at a couple of tables, and a few picnic tables outside. Their current hours are 7:30 am to 7:30 pm every day except Sunday, when they close at 5:00. I strenuously object to the updated review dated 5/27/16. If what he alleges is true, then it is truly a mystery how they built such a popular business on a side road off Route 1. As a small businessman myself I am tremendously impressed at how they have maintained quality and service, supported local producers, and built such a large and dedicated following. Yes, we all have to wait in line sometimes, but those who have been coming back year after year know that it is worth the wait. read more

My wife and I decided to get dinner here based on the great reviews. It probably has a charm to it if you are a local, a regular or obsessed with the 1800's. Neither my wife or myself felt very comfortable or welcome and while I am sure meat lovers have plenty of great options for food, the tuna sandwich we ordered was less than average. It was an experience visiting this spot for multiple reasons but will not be going back for more. read more

I love coming here in the morning to get my Two Fish coffee and bakery fish without the lines of the original location. And I'm willing to let the secret out in exchange for their prosperity, because it's so great to have an amazing beverage and baked delicious doughiness in the morning. Stopped on the way up the coast and was pleased to find great hot tea, a really good calzone, and a bowl of hearty soup. Two of us split the calzone and soup, and we were plenty full. The owners were pleasant and happy to chat with people in the store. read more

I value customer service, and my thoughts are that if you don't like people, then don't have a job where you deal with people. Jackie, the cashier, was less than friendly to us the two times my family was there. We noticed she was friendly to the fellow locals, but not-so-much towards vacationers. I'm not sure I should share this, but Charlotte deserves to be recognized for her fabulous baking. In the back of the Stewart's Point store, there is a deli and bakery. In the bakery, they have these chocolate cupcakes that are my favorite dessert on this planet. They are called penguins and they are the creation of Charlotte. Think of a dense chocolate cake, but not too sweet, maybe made with cocoa and dusted with cinnamon sugar - with a surprise of unsweetened whipped cream in the center. I have started ordering in advance (707-785-2406) to ensure they have some left. These are worth going out of your way for. And I just tried another of Charlotte's creations - sweet cream scones! Just ask them what Charlotte baked and it's bound to be great. Save some for me! read more

As others have stated, this place is a little gem on the PCH North in Mendonoma (Mendocino/Sonoma County). My gf and I were camping at nearby Salt Point SP when I realized that my lantern needed a new mantle. We talked to our camp host and she suggested nearby Stewarts Point General Store. "Try their sandwiches!" she says. We headed North on Highway 1 as directed and I nearly drove right by this neat two story gas station and general store. A lot of bicyclists were there in the parking lot enjoying lunch at some picnic tables, as well as some motorcycle riders taking a break. Inside was charming and had a vintage general store vibe, but with a gourmet palate. In the back of the store is a deli and there are several refrigerators stocked with a nice selection of beverages (craft sodas, beer, wines) and other snacks. We were very tempted to purchase some Smores materials they had laid out, but prudence stepped in and I thought better. The owner (who is a local artist I later learned on our second stop there) was out of mantles, but was very helpful in sending me to a nearby hardware store, Sea Ranch Supply. We bought some veggies and a can of chili before heading out to Sea Ranch. We also needed some matches, and they happily gave us a bag of wooden match sticks for free. The next day I realized we needed some food to bring with us on our hike, so we decided to come back to Stewart's Point and order some of those sandwiches our camp host had raved about. We grabbed a couple of bags of Kettle chips to go with them and headed back to camp. Long story short....after maybe 7 miles of hiking, our hunger got the best of us as we quickly tore into the dense nourishment we carried. I ordered my usual turkey and my gf ordered hers Italian style with salami. Both sandwiches we had built with lots of produce and were supremely delicious. We continued our hike with full bellies that were quiet for the rest of the day. All in all, if you're in the area and need something in a pinch or have a hankering for a gourmet treat, Stewarts Point Store is the place to go! read more

Very unfriendly and not neighborly at all. I called to be sure they would have eggs as I needed them for something early in the morning. I go to the store about 5 minutes before they were supposed close but they had already locked the store and turned down the blinds. Someone peeked through the blinds and I thought they would open the door but I then heard them say they were closed. I said I just needed a dozen eggs and knocked on the door. A woman opened the door and said they were closed and it was after hours. I again said I just needed a dozen eggs and showed her my cell phone which now said 6:00, the time they advertised they were open to. No go. This is a rather remote area and the next closest store is 12 miles away and it was a 15 minute drive for me to get to the Stewarts Point Store...a drive I will never do again. read more

Four of us ate lunch today at the historic dance hall upstairs above Stewart's Point Store. Each of us ordered something different. All four of our meals were excellent. Both hot and cold sandwiches are available. There is even an historic bar where guests can order a glass of wine or a cocktail (at 11:30 am, no less!). The coastal community has needed a place like this for years. The food is great and the setting offers guests an authentic experience in a local historic property that's been in operation for 150 years (very old by California standards). In 1939 a great party was held to celebrate New Years Eve. The party decorations are still in place. Both the food and the venue are not to be missed!
