They've got three or four basic waffles with variants on toppings and flavorings. I go with a liege waffle with chocolate. It takes about 15 minutes, the truck is popular. I get a small paper container with a nicely browned waffle tucked in it. The outside is crisp and has some chew to it. After discovering the original waffle in Liege, I was excited to try this truck at Durham's Food Truck Rodeo before they changed their name from Waffology to Waffle Crafters. I love the pure, plain taste of the classic waffle so that is what I always get. They are warm, sweet and just how they taste in Belgium. I like how they decorate with the Belgian flag and serve everything with a smile. Recently they came to our office and friend got the waffle with strawberries and whipped cream. If sweet waffles aren't your thing, they also offer some savory options with goat cheese and other toppings. I see this as a dessert option and am glad they are in the area! Pancakes seem w-awful in comparison. (Ok, I still love pancakes too.) But honestly, I have enjoyed every single waffle I've purchased from this food truck, savory or sweet. The Bouc (goat cheese, apple, thyme, and honey) is one of my favorites because of its varied flavor profile. Often, several of the waffles sold here are just one note of pure sweetness. Still delicious, but it's nice to shake things up a bit. The workers are very friendly, and service is quick. I also love the cute Belgian flags on every waffle; very unique! The only reason to dock a star is that the price is a bit high for the amount of food, and again that the toppings could be more varied, with less emphasis on the sweet. Coworker and I were extremely excited to try this food truck after viewing the menu. I ordered the Pom'Caramel waffle for breakfast and it was quite tasty but the price was a bit steep. These are liege waffles so they are a chewier and thicker. Each waffle is topped with a small Belgium flag. Very good authentic liege waffles! Don't expect a huge soft fluffy waffle here. These are small, chewy, and have crystallized sugar on the outside. DELICIOUS. you can add toppings which all cost extra, except for powdered sugar.. i think they'll give you that for free. I usually add whipped cream, strawberries and nutella. This waffle truck comes to our office once a month and it's awesome, so i've tried my fair share of different topping combinations, but i've learned to stick with the whipped cream and fruit. I got the one with bacon before, and it came sprinkled with bacon chopped up..and it tasted more like bacon bits..Also, they put too much bacon on it (yes, there's such a thing as too much bacon!) so it was overpowering and i had to push as much of the bits to the side. So i wouldn't recommend adding that. Also, the waffles are a little pricey, but you're paying for quality i suppose. Other than that, no complaints here! read more

They are good, authentic, and freshly made (most Belgian places make them ahead and warm them to order). I tend to go for plain ones, which is good - the toppings here are a little spendy. A typical place over there charges €2.50 for a plain waffle, and these are $4.00 unadorned, and around $7-$8 with toppings. However, because they are made to order, they are a little slow. But they did give us an extra one for waiting extra long, so that was a nice touch. The owner was very nice, he hails from the Charleroi area. read more

I tried Belgian Waffle Crafters two years ago at a food truck rodeo and I'm glad that they've decided to come by Duke West Campus! They have a few different selections for choice of waffle, as well as a customized option. This is definitely a dessert food, so it's no surprise that all of the choices (even the one that comes with bacon) is very sweet. My favorite choice is the "I Love Speculoos" with a can of San Pelligrino; if the truck rolls up on cheat day, I'm definitely getting this. The owner is friendly and the service is relatively fast. As good as the waffles from Wafels & Dinges in New York. The truck was parked outside an office park a mere 4 minute drive from my apartment. I had the speculoos waffle. The speculoos spread was delicious. It's impossible to go wrong with that. But the whipped cream was very special and paired with the waffle and speculoos spread very well. It wasn't overpoweringly sweet -- it was more like the whipped cream you'd get at a fancy restaurant. Real stuff, not out of a can. Actually, it reminded me of the housemade whipped cream they serve at Norma's in New York! Very dense and I suspect housemade (truckmade?) and not store bought. It's not a huge waffle, but I'm not complaining. I suspect it's gotta be over 500 calories (with toppings). I felt satisfied after eating it. Apparently, they'll be back in two weeks. I ordered the a la mode waffle with two scoops of vanilla ice cream and hot fudge sauce. The fudge sauce was delicious and solidified in contact with the ice cream, so it made for a rich dark chocolate lattice. The ice cream part was decent, and so was the waffle. The waffle base could have tasted more buttery and less sugary, but that's just my preference, and I don't know how waffles are typically made. This truck has been to our office twice now and it's been amazing both times. At first I wasn't sure about having a waffle for lunch, but I opted to go with a savory selection and wasn't disappointed. I highly recommend the Ciao Tutti - basically a caprese on a Belgian waffle: fresh mozz, tomatos, basil and olive oil with salt and cracked pepper. It's outstanding. The price is a bit high for the quantity of food, but it's not too bad - and certainly not abnormal for a food truck. These guys get an A from me. read more
