My wife and I decided to have our 1980s bathroom updated and have it more senior friendly, and from recommendations from a neighborhood facebook group we found Todd. Todd is the owner and president of the company and he came by to look at our bathroom and hear about what we envisioned for the remodel. Todd showed up on time for our consult, and was very friendly and knowledgeable, we discussed price and materials and came to an agreement on what we needed our budget to be. Todd wrote up a quote and contract, we reviewed and signed it, and agreed on a start time for the project. We met Todd at a material store and picked out all the tile and discussed fixtures. Todd has a cabinet maker that works with him and this worked out because we had a custom vanity in mind. The representative from the cabinet maker came by and got all the dimensions and finish choices that we requested. This remodel was going to be down to the studs, replace the tub with a walk in shower, plus a modification on two existing walls, and the installation of a door between the bedroom and bathroom, so it was a major project, but Todd assured us they were up to the task. Todd's and his crew showed up on the day we agreed on and after introductions, they got to work. Todd estimated 2-3 weeks, and they finished exactly at three weeks. Because of the new wall in between the bedroom and the bath, the bedroom walls were painted completely so everything matched. We also had custom shelves in our bedroom that had to be taken down while they painted, and they reinstalled them when they finished. Mario, the lead craftsman on the project was amazing, he truly a master craftsman who can do it all, carpentry, tile work, plumbing and electrical, and his helpers, Noe and Steven were very good also. The vanity top was custom cut by one of Todd's vendors and he did an exceptional job. Overall we love our bathroom, it is exactly how we envisioned it, and would recommend Stiefvater Construction highly. Todd went above and beyond managing the project and was very open to us picking out all the tile styles and paint colors. He checked in on a daily basis to see how everything was proceeding, and always kept us updated. Todd came and fixed a beat up door at our house. It's a door to a balcony that we don't use and was beat up by the elements and then critter came and finished it off. When Todd had gotten there the animals tore holes in the threshold and chewed a hole down to the garage underneath. We called multiple contractors but many didn't even call back (post COVID problems??). Todd did... scheduled and came by for a quote. Todd was responsive throughout the project. He let us know his plan ahead of time and kept us updated as to when he is to be expected at the house, etc. While at the house Todd and his crew were very professional and left with everything cleaned up and ready for use. I called several contractors for quotes for the complete tear-out and remodel of two bathrooms. The other contractors were all over the board, one really low quote but they weren't very professional. One really high quote. That one was professional but wasn't willing to work with us on the price. When I called Todd, I was pleasantly surprised at his great attitude and friendly nature. Todd was very easy to work with; great at communicating and kept us informed of exactly what, how and when. Of course, remodeling is full of surprises and he made sure that we were aware of any problems that came up. Like the termites. Yikes! Since I live out of state, Todd had to communicate with both my daughter, who lives in the house, and me. But that didn't faze him at all. Also, he put up these great you-tube videos almost daily of the work in progress. It was so reassuring to see how the remodel was coming along within hours of the work being done. Both bathrooms were pretty old but one of them was in really bad shape as it had never been updated. It was not even useable. But Todd and crew made both bathrooms like new! I was finally able to travel to San Antonio and saw the completed work and meet Todd and Anthony IRL. The final product looks even better in person! This was the second time we have used Todd for a remodel. This time it was our downstairs; including the kitchen, living room, dining room, bathroom, and foyer. The kitchen was taken to the studs and completely redone from top to bottom including closing off of a doorway. We added a larger fireplace to the living room, new cabinet, sink, and toilet in the bathroom. New flooring throughout and every wall, baseboard, door, and ceiling was painted. There is a great reason why we continue to go back to Todd: the work is quality! The work is done on-time, well within the time frame given! The crew cleans up after themselves, I didn't come home to empty bottles and food wrappers. We highly recommend Stiefvater Construction. We purchased an older home in Windcrest that was badly in need of updating. Two bathrooms needed updating. One had Mamie Eisenhower Pink tile and the other was decorated in the mint green tile that I like to call "Early American Elvis". We had original parquet wood floors throughout. Todd provided an estimate to refresh both bathrooms with new tile (floor and wall) and new bathroom fixtures and to replace the floor tile throughout the house with porcelain. I contacted four contractors before hiring Todd for our project. Todd was by far the most responsive. He showed up on time and gave me a very reasonable estimate right away. We are not in San Antonio full time. Todd shopped for fixtures and picked them up for me. He maintained communication throughout and looked for ways to save money on materials and labor. Our project was completed within budget and within a week of our original completion date. We have two bathrooms updated with beautiful calcutta tile and bernini porcelain tile throughout. Highly recommend this business. Todd was easy to work with and good with suggestions that turned out great. Our master bathroom had major problems with leaks in the floor and walls from a cold weather freeze. Todd worked on identifying where the leaks and bad pipes were. He replaced the plumbing completely and replaced all the tile floor, shower and vanity. He worked with our insurance adjuster to help us get our claim paid. We now have a beautiful, functional master bathroom. He even worked around our crazy schedule and made friends with our 5 dogs. Very happy with the project. read more
