Still Hill Brewery is located amongst some industrial offices. It looks unassuming from the outside, just like the rest of the business in the area. But inside you'll be greeted with the most pleasant bartender and a nice variety of beers. Still Hill is a smaller brewery. It's got a variety of seating available inside as well as a few outside. When I went there was a band playing some 60s music. They were very good! Some people were dancing. I had the Fruitatious Sourpuss Blood Orange Pomegranate. This was refreshing and tart, a good sour. My friend had the HoneyCrisp cider, this one is very light and crisp, I didn't try this one, but the name and very light nature of this one, seem like that's the perfect name for it. They have a variety of games to play, we played Uno cards while the band played and we drank our beers. They don't offer any food at Still Hill, but you are welcome to bring your own. read more

Small brewery, was kind of nicely quaint and lo-fi on a weekend night, a good place to be able to talk with friends and have beers without too much noise. Love coming to this brewery - they always have something i like on tap. It is a BYO food if you want or they sell a few snacks. They do have things other than beer so feel free to bring friends how might want to have a glass of wine - i think they have individual size bottled margaritas too but not 100% certain. Have a few TVs to watch sports and when weather is nice, you can sit outside. The only reason they aren't getting a 5 is that their beers are a little pricey. read more

I stopped by here a couple of Thursday's ago by myself for some evening drinks. Still Hill Brewery is located in an industrial type area and is somewhat difficult to find. I actually drove around the parking lot multiple times looking for it before I finally located it. The inside of this place is pretty spacious with a bar that seats 8 or so and at least 12 4-tops. It's ceiling was a couple of stories high and as you would expect with that, there was exposed ductwork. On the night that I was there (a Thursday Night) there was trivia which means the place was fairly crowded. As I often do whenever I visit a new brewery, I went with a flight here. At Still Hill Brewery that consists of 4 different beers for $8. On this day I ordered their two speciality beers for the day: Loco Whiskey Champ (Stout) and ICaved 1.3 Experimental NEIPA. Then I also went with two of their regular beers: Momma's Imperial Little Helper (DIPA) and Citrabration (IPA). I followed the recommendation of the bartender on the order in which to drink the beers. This means that I started with the stout which had some good flavors with a nice dry finish. After that I tried the ICaved which I thought tasted great. It was bright and juicy which made me think that that it was more of a west coast IPA instead of a NEIPA. I do have to note that I got a little bit of green chewiness in my beer which I am hopefully assuming was hops. While I don't think I have ever had this happen before, at this point my palate was pretty much blown away. I say that because I didn't get much hop flavor off of either of the last two beers and I probably should have. In any case the Citrabration was next and had a clean start before a slightly hoppy finish. Last Up was the imperial little helper from which I got a little sweetness and malt flavor, but that was about it. Out of the bunch I did really enjoy the ICaved and only wish that it had been the last beer I tried instead of the 2nd. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. Even though this wasn't the most successful visit for me, I did enjoy the first two beers and would like to try those last two beers again just to see if it was me or the ICaved. read more

Still Hill had been on my radar for a long time. Some friends and I finally went to celebrate my birthday on a Friday. While the space is very busy, there was definitely enough tables at around 5:30, which I really appreciated. It was perfect for a group of 6-8. The vibe very chill, and there are some great beers to try. They do a lot of distinctive IPAs. The Vanhilla (porter) was already kicked by the time we got there, but I've tried it somewhere else before. You should, too!) The beer selection and taste are all around very solid. The other cool thing I found out on this given Friday, was that on Fridays, they have free pizza. How nice is that? That is definitely an awesome gesture, and it was something that stands out in my mind. I'd definitely come back and chill with some friends. read more

I preface my review by stating that I did donate to their Kickstarter Campaign last summer having never sampled their beer because 1) Still Hill Brewery wanted to open in my back yard and 2) I am a sucker for good swag; especially considering my "contribution" has allowed me to finally become a mug club member somewhere. So - I did not go into my first visit with rose colored glasses. I went as like many of the other patrons and beer lovers that first night - wanting to see what Still Hill Brewery had to offer. The place was packed (it was opening night) but I was able to belly up to the bar, order a flight from one of the hard working employees, and wait for my swag to appear. I wanted my inaugural beer in my "mug" to be one that I would truly enjoy and savor because you can never christen a mug twice. The flight was solid - an IPA (light finish for an IPA), APA (my personal favorite), Sluggy Buggy (a stout - not my favorite but I am not a big stout fan), and their Red Ale. All in all a solid line up from Still Hill but when it came down to it my favorite (and the brew that christened the mug was the APA. The tap room is a fairly good size - plenty of tables and chairs as well as a bar to sit at. When I went the first time (and the next week as well) the place was jamming which is great and I am sure as the "newness" dies down a bit it will not be too hard to find a table. They allow you to bring your own growler and also will be having food trucks on the weekend. So glad that this local brewery has finally opened. I will be back! read more

I understand that breweries in an industrial complex are A Thing but I just can't get past the weird vibe. I digress. The beer was good, the vibe was chill, and they had hot pretzels for order. The staff was pleasant but could offer no true descriptions of the beers on tap. Cider is available also. We opted for a complete flight. Out of the eight beers we tried, we loved one, the Oktoberfest. Very accurate portrayal of the classic German beer. The rest unfortunately were not examples of any style. The stouts were weak in taste with no complexity at all. An example would be the double coffee stout which literally all you could taste was the coffee. For some that might be good but for me I like to still enjoy a beer not a cup of coffee.my hope is they will learn and grow or get a new brewmaster. Keep you posted. read more

The industrial plaza Still Hill is located in is a bit confusing, but if you follow the signs and keep left (twice) you'll find it in no time! The tap room is roomy and is plenty spacious for beer-goers to hang out. Snag one of the 6 beers on drafts; pints are $5-6 while a flight of 6 costs $9. Went here on a Friday night. Met Sue, one of the owners. Helped her claim her business on Yelp. Heh heh She was very nice and at 4:40 pm on a Friday the place was mobbed. They have a long bar and many table tops. They offer $6 flights (which I think is there best deal), $5 pints, and 32 oz and 64 oz growler fills. What they had on tap: IPA, APA, Red, and a Stout I liked the red best and the stout was smooth. The IPA was very floral in its hops, too strong for me and the APA was a bit smoother and easier to drink. Highly recommend you check it out. I happen to be in the area of Still Hill on a Saturday afternoon and decided to pop in. I had been wanting to visit their Rocky Hill location and try their beer for awhile at that point. Still Hill is located approximately 15 minutes outside of Hartford. The brewery is tucked away in the back of a quiet industrial park. My boyfriend and I stopped in on a Saturday and were immediately greeted with the sight of a food truck. Not only were we at a brewery, there was a food truck right outside! Ted's Famous Steamed Burgers was parked right outside for all to enjoy. Still Hill is a cool space with a barn-like mural wrapping around half of the bar area. There is a large, long bar with a good amount of seating as well as a counter area along the adjacent wall with additional seating. If you prefer your own space, there are a number of tables and chairs that are spread throughout their taproom. There were so many choices, it made it hard to narrow it down to just one beer. I opted to order the flight to make the decision to order a pint the next time around. My flight included their Red Storm Ryesing, Still Hill APA, Sluggy Buggy Oatmeal Stout, and Chorus Frog IPA. Each beer I tasted was delicious, but the Sluggy Buggy Oatmeal stout had me at first sip. The smooth, creamy flavor that went down effortlessly took the cake. My second favorite beer was the Chorus Frog IPA. A delicious IPA bursting with flavor, but to too hopp-forward to create an overpowering bitter finish. My visit to Still Hill was an overall great experience. From the moment I got out of the car to finishing my beer and leaving. Good beer and nice ambiance! I've been here twice now - once about a year ago for a birthday outing and once on a quiet Friday afternoon between Christmas and New Year's. The staff are friendly and the pretzels are giant. The beers I've sampled are tasty. Still Hill offers flights and glasses and growlers for takeaway. A particular favorite on our recent visit was the bourbon barrel aged vanilla porter. Luscious, I'm told. We will definitely return in the not distant future. read more

I stopped here for a quick beer yesterday afternoon. It takes a few minutes to find this place in the industrial complex, but it's worth it. The place is a decent size, with a bar and about ten tables. The painted wood behind the bar is a little funky, but otherwise it had a good vibe. There were six or seven beers available, including a cider. The Oktoberfest was solid but unremarkable. I liked that the garage door opened, although I would have liked the ability to sit outside. I have nothing bad to say about this place. The new Shunpike location is roomy, open, fun (maybe could use some music) and I could have spent all day here. Well, except for that the hours are pretty short. Maybe it's a state law...no breweries seem to be open for more than a few hours, and close by 5:00. Still Hill makes it until 6:00 on Saturdays! Woo hoo! Anyway, on our recent visit the selection of beers was perfect, ranging from lighter APA's up to a wonderful Vanhilla Stout. While there is no food served, they do offer baggies of bagel chips and a few munchies. If you're hungry, and plan your visit right, just have a pizza delivered (this happened while we were there), or nosh on whatever is offered at the food truck which is usually outside. Ted's Steamed Burgers is a frequent option, but the selection varies. As for the actual tastings, Still Hill nails it. Probably the best brewery visit we've experienced. The staff was very friendly, the long bar made it easy to cozy up and get your favorite flight or pints, the growler filling station was convenient, the room itself, despite being just a converted warehouse, was nicely decorated and welcoming. One of the brew masters, Gary, was behind the bar, and he obviously takes great pride in the beer he produces. He asked what beers we wanted on our flight so he could position them in a proper tasting order, so each beer would compliment the next. Then he explained each selection and the process and ingredients. He actually apologized, hoping he hadn't bored us, but I found the information fascinating, and much preferable to just being handed a flight with no information as to what made each taste special. Short and sweet. This place is spacious, bring some friends! Bring your growlers to be filled up. Bring a pizza. Just bring it! This place rocks. read more

The woman working the counter this afternoon looked miserable, made zero eye contact, no greeting, no you're welcome and no enthusiasm whatsoever. The guy working with her was good and very personable which saved this place from a one star rating. On a beer note, my favorite was Mega Joe. The Ales where good also. What a great atmosphere! The beautifully painted taproom was bustling with happy craft beer fans during my visit, many partaking in the 4-beer flight featuring some pretty nice session ales. Each beer offered during opening weekend were "safe" styles in that they were very tasty and recognizable, extremely true to the style the brewmaster was aiming for. The most unique during my visit was the Red Storm Ryesing. I will say that I have been fortunate enough to try some of the other recipes from Brewmaster Scott's personal portfolio and they are outstanding. I'm very excited to seem them released commercially at the taproom in the future. It will make my 45 minute drive to Still Hill even more worth it. They don't offer food but they try to have food service trucks on site when the taproom is open, each featuring some really good munchies to chase down with a few pints. Keep an eye on this spot. I went for a flight and was not disappointed. The tripel Still Hill 3563 was rich with clove and corriander, the barrel aged Muga Joe was what I want in a barrel aged stout and their small batch ChangoHill Chata cream ale was unique and rich. This is a new local brewery in Rocky Hill, CT. Upon walking in we were amazed by not only the great scenery, the amount of people supporting the new local brewery! The garage door was open making it easy to enter. There are numerous table and chairs for sitting and a great bar area for visitors! The walls are decorated really well and there is plenty of standing room available. In talking with many of the awesome friendly staff, couches will be coming soon. Which would be very cool to relax and play some card/board games and relax with friends while enjoying some excellent beer! There were 4 beers on tap for opening day, all are excellent. My favorite is the stout, very smooth with good flavors but this is a seasonal beer. There was an American Pale Ale and an IPA. Both refreshing with great flavors! I do like the huge mural that they have in the corner 2 walls. They had four people working behind the bar, serving flights and pints of beer but you could tell they weren't service-efficient. We waited about 5 minutes before they acknowledged us, which in bar-time is forever. I realize it's not a bar per-se, but it is a place where you expect to hand over money for libations.
