So I have been ruminating about the review I wanted to leave for this shop but didn't know where to begin since this shop means so much to me but I guess that's a start in itself. To begin, the shop is well taken care of. Tim keeps his shop clean super clean. Good hours. It's not super loud. They always have some good tunes playing. It's a super relaxed feel. Tim and Lucky both excel at their craft. Tim has been tattooing me for about seven years. Lots of experience between those walls and tattoos to come out of there. I had wanted a more trash polka style. I sent Tim what I wanted incorporated in the design and he came up with beautiful design after beautiful design. He is a beyond imaginative. Tim is great at figuring out what you want. He is super gentle with the needle. His line work is amazing. Attention to detail is superb. Shading is perfect everytime. Tim doesn't rush you into anything or rush the tattoo process. Lucky is another great guy and artist. His work is done very meticulously as well. Cool guy who puts a good vibe out there. Like I said, this shop truly means a lot to me. I've been going here through good times and tough times. I always leave feeling much better than when I came in even if I'm in a good mood. That's how much these fellows mean to me and the tattoing that they do. I will keep going here as long as I have canvas available for them. Even if I didn't, I still keep in contact with the shop. Great experience with a complicated cover! Tim took the time to create a design that truly covered an existing (very dark) tattoo without it looking obvious. It was done in two phases and healed very nicely. Tim has a great, calming personality and a really cool shop. read more

My very first dog Ace had recently passed and I was taking it very hard. I wanted his image tattooed on my chest as a memorial of the good times we spent together and all the love and joy he brought me. Keep in mind I was a tattoo virgin and was very nervous about the process of getting my first tattoo so I went with something small and started with my grandparents signatures. I walked in one day and Tim @shelltoon set me up with an appointment the following day. He walked me through the process and made me feel very comfortable. My grandparents signatures came out great so I made a follow up appointment for the bigger job which was Ace's portrait tattoo. I came back a few weeks later, again a little nervous, but Tim's reassuring vibe calmed me down and he went to work. The final piece was nothing short of amazing! Even my wife who initially disapproved of me getting a chest tattoo was blown away and brought to tears by how life-like it was to Ace's image. Huge shout out to the owner/ artist Tim @shelltoon at seal beach's finest Still life tattoo. I was on the hunt for a hero to fix a long 15 year old big black mistake . With the bases juiced, 2 outs and a full count in the bottom of the 9th big Tim came up to bat and did the job. He knocked in a winner winner seal beach corn dog dinner. The Service was better than phenomenal. No heavy hands. Tim cared about my opinion but also had smart and reasonable opinions to help me decided exactly how we were going to clean my mess up. Got the job done and made me feel proud immediately. The fine lines and detail Tim performed are more than impressive, they are something to show off. Not only was he knowledgeable but he actually cared and wanted to know about my life. Being comfortable with the artist and Tim did just that. The music was enjoyable until a father son duo requested country where we all shared a laugh about some shitty song called snake farm. Tim and his homie Lucky are both class act and I will recommend everyone to go there every time before going to a place you can't park around 7th street. We contacted Still Life Tattoo to see if they had availability and if they could help us with a tattoo idea we had. It was amazing to see how Lucky could take the information we gave him to create the perfect sketch. His communication was great all the way up to the day of the appointment. I had the pleasure of working with Tim today. I have multiple tattoos but this was the first one in my ribcage and I was a little worried because I've heard ribcage tattoos are really painful. I was really pleasantly surprised and it didn't hurt nearly as much as I was anticipating. This tattoo was a tribute to my dog that passed away recently. Walked in today on my lunch break due to the amazing reviews to get a quote and appointment on a very simple tattoo I was getting to honor home and match my siblings! Mr. Fitzgerald told me it would only take 5 min so why not do it right then and there! (he wasn't kidding it took 5 min!) to say the least I am over the moon about the outcome! Went here on a spur of the moment thing with my two friends. We meet Damien, he was nice and polite. When I showed him my tattoo off of google, he asked me to send him the picture. He came back with a better sketch then what I had plan. I was a little nervous about getting it near my ankle but he was calm and cool about it and said more than once that it would be ok and it wouldn't hurt. His calmness made me feel better about it.
