A once great campground that has been taken down a few notches by the Pine Beetles. Years ago this place had a lot of trees within the campground creating privacy, much needed shade and good scenery. Unfortunately the infestation of Pine Beatles was very heavy in this area and whole mountain sides have been cleared because of all the dead trees. Same goes for this campground. There are pretty much no trees of good size to offer the privacy and shade that's really needed. It will be decades before the new growth catches up to the old ones. That aside, it's a nice place to camp. Great views of the lake and mountains. Facilities are nice. Real bathrooms and even showers and it's a short drive into Grand Lake. It's expensive though at $30/night. If your into glamping, this is definitely the place to go otherwise there are much better Forest Service campgrounds for cheaper.

Definitely not the best campground in Colorado (or even on Lake Granby), but it's, as Yelp puts its 3-star rating, "A-OK." The campground sits atop a slightly hilly peninsula that juts into the West side of Lake Granby. If you're looking for a shady, wooded campground this is NOT your place. I don't know if the lack of trees is due to Pine Beetle damage or if there were never any to begin with, but there sure aren't any there now! It's all low, scrubby sage and the occasional pine down by the water's edge. Bring your own wood if you come, because there's none to be gathered. Another bummer: it's actually pretty close to the main drag that is Hwy 34. So close that you can hear and even see every last car rushing by (lack of trees, yo). It's hard to feel like you're in the wilderness when there's an ambulance and police cars whizzing by, sirens wailing, while you're trying to enjoy your S'mores. Lack of trees and highway frontage notwithstanding, Stillwater does have some strong points. Namely, the 'throoms. They flush! They flush! They're also handicap accessible, clean, and lit at night. There are free hot showers too, which is nice when you come shivering out of Lake Granby's ice-cold waters after a session on the wakeboard. Did I mention there's an on-site boat ramp? Good stuff. If you camp on a Saturday, you'll be treated to a show at Stillwater's Campground Amphitheater. The weekend we stayed, it was "Smokey Bear and His Ranger Friends." I'm guessing this particular event was more for the kiddies, but some weekends they even offer live music. That could be a major plus or a major suck, depending on who's scheduled! All in all, a decent enough place to camp but not one of my favorites. Not by a longshot.

We just stayed at Stillwater Grandby campground. It was a awesome trip. We stayed in B62. That is right next to the campground hosts in B61. The vaulted bathrooms were very clean . They are way better than the old outhouse style. American Leisure has two great employees who take care of the B loop. We had no problems with loud campsite of others or generators at all. Please visit Stillwater like we did. The campground hosts have a great sense of humor.

What a view of Lake Granby!

Our view of Lake Granby was gorgeous, and the mountains surrounding the area really added to our enjoyment of the campsite.

I've rafted with Liquid Descent multiple times, and every single trip has been a 5-star experience!…read moreThe guides are not only experts at keeping you safe, but they also make sure you have an unforgettable time on the river. This year, I went early season on Clear Creek and loved it so much I came back late season for Gore Canyon- an adrenaline-packed, fun adventure! The day started with a swim test to make sure everyone was prepared before tackling Class V rapids. (Honestly, if you're not a strong swimmer, this trip isn't for you, they do test your swimming in the rapids and throughout the trip over half of the people across our 5 rafts ended up in the water at some point! Additionally this would be quite the dive into the deep end if you've never rafted before!) The trip was an incredible mix of thrills, skill, and crazy beautiful scenery you would not have guessed was there when you drive into Kremmling. Midway through, we stopped for snacks, and when we wrapped up, the crew served a delicious lunch and cold beers (NA options were there too!) such a nice touch after a big day! What sets Liquid Descent apart is the crew. Every guide I've had has been dedicated to making the trip special. I've talked to them and many of them have said they specifically choose to work here because of the company's extra training and the sense of community. I even met the owner yesterday at Gore Canyon, and you can tell the company's passion for customer experience comes directly from the top. Specifically the last 2 guides I've had, Jordan and Malia have been awesome! Yes, most rafting companies use the same put-in/take-out points and similar gear but the experience is what makes the difference. With Liquid Descent, the guides make sure it's the best it can be and their love for their job ensures you're going to have a great time. I've rafted with other companies in locations where liquid descent isnt and know: the right guide changes everything. If you're looking for an unforgettable rafting trip in Colorado, Liquid Descent is the company to go with!

I can't say enough good things about our experience with Liquid Descent. My daughter and I signed…read moreup for the beginner rafting trip... and while she was excited... I was terrified. I was so nervous walking in, but from the moment we arrived, every single staff member made us feel welcomed, safe, and supported. Our guide, Koa, was the perfect balance of fun, kind, and incredibly skilled. He guided us through the rapids with such confidence and ease while also making sure everyone felt safe and included. He checked in on us several times throughout and made sure we were having fun, asked us if we wanted to "spice it up" a bit or keep it mellow and just really let us know this was "our" trip and he's cater to what we wanted. I quickly found myself letting go of fear and enjoying the moment... something I didn't expect would happen. Koa's energy was contagious, and his calm, respectful nature made us feel like we were in the best hands possible. At one point on the river, another rafting company had a mishap and we had to pull over and wait for them to recover and get their riders back into the raft safely. Koa explained what had happened with total grace - no judgment, no gossip - just a calm and respectful explanation. He also spoke so kindly of his own coworkers and even the owner of Liquid Descent. You could tell he genuinely cares about the rafting community and takes pride in his work and LOVES his Liquid Descent family! Every employee we encountered was friendly, encouraging, and helpful - from getting us fitted with helmets and life jackets to cheering us on as we headed out. As someone who started out nervous, that kind of supportive vibe made a huge difference. They encouraged me, and they helped me push past my comfort zone in the best way possible. What a GREAT memory! We will remember this day not only for the thrill of the rapids, but for the kindness and heart of the people who guided us through it! If you are considering rafting in Colorado, go with Liquid Descent. I'm so glad we did!

I had a blast white water rafting down the Colorado River with Mad Adventures. When you arrive to…read moretheir store location it's about 30 minutes of admin stuff before you load the buses to head for the launch point. You fill out the wavier paperwork, get a speech from one of the workers, and go through the line to your life jacket and paddle. They also have shoes for rent if you need them. The bus ride to the launch point is about 30 minutes. The staff do their best to keep everyone entertained while your on the bus; telling jokes, telling you facts about landmarks, and the local area. When you get to the launch point it's about another 15 minutes before you get on your raft. They go through another 5-7 minute speech about the water, how to maneuver, and all the safety stuff (just in case crap goes wrong). Then they split you up into groups and you load the raft. We truly had a blast on the raft and I never felt like I was at risk of injury, or unsafe through the entire ride. From start to finish it was about a 2 hour trip; but it went by really fast. I could have rode the river for at least another 1-2 hours. It was super chill and some of the rough waters (class II and III) didn't last long but made the ride very exciting. We did stop for about 30 minutes at a point where you can jump off a cliff. There is a 25 foot cliff as well as a small jump spot for kids (my 4 year old jumped from the small spot). I did go up to the 25 foot jump (along with about 30 other people). Jumping was not a problem at all because you walk up to the edge and simply walk off for the jump. They don't give you anytime to look around, think, or get scared. 30 people jumped off in less than 7-8 minutes. It felt great!! The ride back to the main store was much shorter; about 15 minutes. Overall we had a great time and it was well worth it.

Be prepared to be paired up with other families who may talk your ear off and miss commands from the guide. That got a little frustrating since we were literally there to raft only. The scenery is gorgeous and they are accommodating. be prepared to pay extra for anything, of course, as per usual. they also ask for tips which is understandable, so be prepared for that. the bus ride out to the river is long and uncomfortable when sitting next to people you don't know. extroverts' dream come true, but again, if you don't like having your ear talked off, you may want to avoid.
