You won't believe how wonderfully this awesome restaurant treated my 98 years young mother!!! Not only did they treat her to her lunch and a huge desert, but Carol Pardo (owner) and her employees had the entire restaurant singing happy birthday and clapping. I have posted pictures on Facebook, at least six or more, but most importantly a picture of Ms. Pardo and my mom. What a wonderful person and what a wonderful restaurant. We can't wait to go again. I have passed Stingray's multiple times and by far did not expect what I received. We were seated in a timely manner and receive a smiling waitress. She checked on us frequently and took our order for appetizers. Upon receiving our appetizers, the waitress and possibly a manager stopped to check on us. We were disappointed because our appetizer the crabmeat stuffed poppers were cold. They were tasty as we were starving so we didn't sent them back. Our entrees made up for it because they were extremely hot. My friend ordered the zydeco fish and I ordered the seafood pasta. My pasta was over cooked and the sauce was very thick. The flavors were very delightful. My friend enjoyed the zydeco fish, potatoes but desired for the macaroni to be a little more cheese creamy. The managers worked the room stopping at every table chatting with patrons and made each feel important. I overheard him tell one it's what he felt customer service is about. Painful is the adjective I would use for this visit. We called in advanced and told them we had a large party (nine adults and a toddler) and requested a server that had previously given good service. When we arrived at 6:10 (the entire party) we were told that we would be waiting for a table to leave so that 3 tables could be merged to accommodate our group. There is no "waiting area" except three small chairs in the front by the doors, so all we could do was shuffle foot to foot and stare at diners trying to eat. It must be noted that there were 3 empty tables available that were not in our requested waitresses section. (perhaps the 1st huge mistake was requesting a server). No one checked on us to see if there was anything to make us comfortable, except the one waitress we had requested who flew by occasionally promising seating us "soon". We had gone to Stingrays specifically because of the oyster special so I requested to speak with the manager to assure that we would still be able to get the special oyster price since it appeared we would not be seated before its expiration time. When the "manager" finally meandered over I a white chef jacket (she was actually the owner I learned) she asked me with a pained expression what I wanted. When I stated that I was inquiring about the oyster special and our ability to still get it at price even after our protracted wait, she looked at me with a blank pained look and said "yes" and walked off from me. When we were finally seated at 7:20-7:30 ish our requested waitress came over and informed us that she would be leaving since she was feeling ill after working 60 hours in 3 days. (What the hell and why do I care).Our newly appointed waitress was sweet but clearly overwhelmed as she tried to gain drink orders, appetizers ,etc. One of our party ordered a small order of French fries for toddler and they were another 45 minutes in their arrival. Our total order was 12 dozen chargrilled oysters, French fries, a seafood salad, 1 turtle soup, 1 calamari, 1 shrimp alfredo, 4 iced teas, 1 water, 1 bucket of beer (5 bottles), 2 single Bud light bottles, 1 crawfish tails and sm. stuffed mushrooms. We also noted when ordering alcohol from the bar that there was no designated bartender and that the poor waitress was also responsible for this task. When we finally departed the restaurant at 9:56, please note we arrived at 6:10 all we wanted was to escape. We were so disappointed and the person who recommended them was embarrassed. I had my first visit to Stingray's this past Saturday for lunch. LOVED IT!!!! The sweet potato hush puppies were fantastic. The grilled shrimp was exceptional and the cajun potatoes were divine!! I live an hour away but I will DEFINITELY be back every chance I get. Also, our server, Denise, was fantastic. Very knowledgeable, accommodating and polite. A couple of other staff checked on us also. Made us feel like valued customers. Keep up the great work!!! read more

We used to visit Stingray's a ton before Katrina. We went back and weren't impressed in ~2008ish and never went back. I heard through the grapevine that Stingray's was back and better than ever. My husband and I went one Saturday morning and they were right! Service was good, atmosphere was great, food was amazingly fresh and came fast! My husband got the Zydeco catfish (AMAZING) and I got the fried shrimp plate. Just as a warning, the food is pretty spicy. The shrimp seemed fine until I ate about 5 of them and my mouth was on fire. I doused them in ketchup though and it was fine :) The Zydeco catfish and the potato salad were also super spicy, but still yummy. I'm knocking 1 star off for the service (the waiter wasn't super friendly and was crazy quiet, he also didnt deliver our food or drinks.. it was kind of odd to me) and for the fact that the food was so spicy that not everyone could enjoy it here. If you want fresh seafood and don't mind spicy food, I suggest Stingray's! read more

This place was horrible. First sign we should have left was that it took our waitress 18 mins to even come to our table, but we saw they were busy so decided to stay. When she did come we ordered our drinks, app and dinners. About 20 mins pass and our app comes and we still didn't get our drinks. She brought us our drinks and forgot one of them. The water tasted very strong, the tea was horrible and the Dr Pepper was bad. The cups had a bad smell too. The app was fried cheese sticks and they were hot, but not crispy. Like they had been sitting under the heat lamp for awhile. When our meals finally came, one side salad had a cherry tomato that was split on the side with mold on it and another salad had a piece of tape with paper in it. We decided to talk to who seemed like the owner about it, she told us she had a good produce supplier and that these things happen, well yes it's not the supplier's fault, it's the kitchen staffs job to check that. And all she said about the tape/paper was that it was part of the case, whatever that means. Then she quickly asked how our other food was and said she'd remake the salads. We told her we didn't want it remade and she said to hold on and not leave yet. Then she never returned to our table. They kept saying how they had a big table come in and that's why the wait was so long, but the never offered any discount or anything. I can't believe this restaurant is still open with there horrible services . First , my family and I finally got together after planning carefully where we were going to take my father for fathers day dinner . All my sisters live out of town and almost an hour away , as soon as we arrived ( which by the way I made reservation )and we had to wait an hour for our reserved table then again they give our seats/table and told us we had to wait another 45 minutes . Imagine after almost a 2 hour wait for a table that we reserved .... they make us wait and the table was not ever reserved . Wow horrible I will not recommend this restaurant to anyone and I'm so upset how they made us wait after all my family trying to getting together on Father's Day ... left us all upset and extremely annoyed after a long drive on this rainy day . read more

Went on an off day, Thursday for a late lunch, called 1st lunch was till 4 p.m., we arrived inside the restaurant at 3 p.m.; we were asked what we wanted to drink and ordered, about 5 minutes later she returned with our drinks, after reviewing the lunch menu and ordering the waitress left our table with our order at 3:10 p.m. Lunch was a half a fried chicken each, the wife got a side of Cajun garlic potatoes and I got the fried onion rings. At about 3:35, we were told it would be just a few more minutes and our order would be right out. At 3: 42 pm we were told that it would be 4 more minutes, at 3:54 p.m. we got our order. I started with my onion rings and the wife started with her potatoes; but, before she could get her napkin on her lap the waitress was gone...no butter for the potatoes, and the onion rings were still uncooked...now the crust around the onion rings was cooked but the insides were still crunchy/raw. Frozen onion rings, I thought, the batter cooked by the time the onion rings thawed enough to start cooking. It didn't get any better. the half a chicken was all in one piece and no steak knife to cut it into two pieces nor to remove the wing. We noticed that this chicken was extra brown...over cooked I though. Yep, so I suggested that we eat the dark meat first as it is usually more moist than the breast. Even it was extra dry. The waitress gave my wife more water in her glass but my empty soda glass went unattended. She returned 5 minutes later as she observed that we may have had enough, and asked "How was everything?" I told her, raw onions but hey I eat raw onions every day but in salads, and the chicken was so over cooked that we only could attempt to eat the hind quarters. She said "let me see what I can do?" Came back: "The manager says that you can change it if you want to." I said "No we've already been here over an hour and one half and we have to be somewhere before 5 p.m. Just bring us a box for the chicken breasts, I'll debone it when I get home and make chicken salad out of it". She chirped, "Ok" brought the boxes and we departed at 4:33 p.m. My advice, don't order the half a fried chicken here, go to Popeye's or Johnny Trauth's has a great half a fried chicken, but not here. On Fridays, they have great fried catfish with excellent white beans for lunch; but their cook cannot fry chicken, so don't do it. Stick with the seafood, the boil pretty good crawfish too...a tad heavy on the cloves, but good. Oh, the waitress did seem genuinely concerned; but she was very busy. But the cook should set a timer on the chicken or use a meat thermometer and when the breast and the thigh bone get to 165 f , pull it out, it's cooked. read more

Waitress Monica was assume; and the manger was walking around speaking to tables very customer service oriented. I am sorry the food was not that great. The chips for the spinach dip burned and maybe cooked in old grease & the Mac & Cheese dry. My fiancé and I didn't eat anything all day before going here so there was nothing else in hour system. As soon as we got home we were racing each other to the bathroom, and we love maybe 10min away. Sorry, we will not be returning. The sweet potato fries were great though & stuffed mushrooms. TERRIBLE RESTAURANT AND SERVICE!!!!! March 5th 2015 my wife and I went out for lunch at this restaurant. When we were greeted at the door we were seated without a hello or someone will be right with you, and the additional paper menus were wrinkled and dirty. I was immediately ready to leave but my wife was hungry and wanted to stay. After our food arrived we could see it without taking one bite that something was wrong. The skin on her fried pork chop was brown on the inside and the skin was burnt, her mac and cheese was hard, my grilled catfish was loaded down with butter and parsley and tasted rubbery as if it had been microwaved. If that wasn't bad enough the boiled potatoes that I ordered were cold on the inside and hot on the outside. My wife called the waitress over and made her complaint and I didnt say anything. Next the owner/cook comes from the kitchen slams her hands on our table and immediately focuses her attention on me asking what is the problem. Keep in mind we are an interracial couple so I felt right then she thought the black girl is the one with the problem. I stated to her Im not the one with the complaint. She then looks at my wife and says "Yes Ma'am whats wrong?'' I was in total shock. After my wife told her of her food she told her that she was lying and the food was not cold and that in their policy if you do not like your food you will just have to order something else."Absurd right?" I then spoke up to make my complaint and she placed her entire hand in my face and told me "I dont like you and that I was lying. She placed her fingers inside my potatoes and told me they weren't cold either." By this time I was furious because there was no reason to place her hand in my face, say she didnt like me, and then accuse me of lying. Each time she spoke to my wife it was polite with yes ma'am but when I spoke she rolled her eyes and made rude and awful comments. My wife asked her for the policy to show us where it states that we would have to order something else and of course there was no such policy. I recorded half of this on my phone and I have proof of her actions. PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY ON STINGRAYS!!!!!! I would die of starvation before I stepped foot in there again. This place needs to be shut down or someone should bring in Chef Ramsey to teach this so called business owner/cook a thing or two. read more

Terrible service with mediocre food. Booth are nice and large to comfortably accommodate 6 people. We were a party of five on Sunday at 6pm. It took over 15minutes to get water brought to the table. During ordering, we were told they were out of Oysters, Corn, Potatoes, and a couple of other side choices. Approximately after 20minutes of ordering our waitress came out and said they were out of the Crabmeat au gratin which was ordered. The guest hastily ordered the seafood combo and asked in lieu of the two sides since they were out of everything she wanted can they substitute the fried eggplant (the cost on this is equivalent to two sides). The Manger came and explained, they cannot substitute two sides for the eggplant since the eggplant is an appetizer and the menu is fixed. So needless to say, the guest ordered two unwanted sides one of which was charged $1.25 more because it was sweet potatoes fries. Will I return? NO! There are other restaurants serving same level food that do not run their establishment like a McDonalds. read more

Was not impressed with dungenous crab, shells were soft, seasoning ok, crabs did not taste fresh. All you can eat special you get 3 clusters with corn, potatoes and hush puppies. They bring you out one cluster at a time beyond that. Better crab quality at Casino buffet. read more

Do yourself a favor and order the Bloody Mary. Comes with a soft shell crab on it. Amazing. The lunch special is really affordable, but I think I just got a bad serving. This was my quick stop after my fly in for Mardi Gras week/weekend. They were out of turtle soup (which I wanted to try for my first time :-|). I had lobster bisque instead. Which was ok. I had the seafood wrap as my entree. Its kind of like a fajita but with fresh crawfish, crab, and shrimp. Alfredo sauce comes on/in it, but I preferred it on the side. The alfredo sauce has crawfish in it and its actually good. The fried catfish is good, but nothing to write home about. read more

We have lived next door to this place for 8 months, and due to the really negative reviews, we have never tried it. Due to a long wait at a place we really enjoy today, we decided to give it a shot. The interior is nice and it seemed clean. I was not impressed with our waitress, she seemed uncomfortable and the dialogue seemed forced. We ordered the eggplant sticks, it is served with a red sauce, it was like eating eggplant parmesan. Not what I was thinking it was going to be, it was ok. We ordered the seafood sliders, shrimp remoulade po boy and an oyster po boy. The oyster po boy is not marked at market price, but they told us it was going to be a higher price due to the higher price of oysters. The food was good. We enjoyed the shrimp po boys. The oysters were good, but dressed poorly. The sanwiches do not come with anything, so I ordered a side of fries. They were good, but a very small portion for the price. The sliders were not dressed as we were told they would be. I had ordered an iced tea mid meal, but I never received it, in fact, we did not see our waitress throughout our meal. All in all, it was not the worst meal or experience I have ever, but no where close to the best. read more

Let me start this by saying I use to LOVE eating here and frequented often, but I had a few bad experiences and hadn't eaten there in a while. Today my family wanted to eat here and I decided to give it another chance, it was a mistake! First the charbroiled oysters were overpriced in comparison to other seafood restaurants and they were TINY and over cooked. Then the children's chicken tenders were so spicy that none of the three children could even eat it, us adults tried it and we found it very spicy as well (we all eat spicy food typically). Next the service was terrible, I asked the waitress for a refill and then she decided to go outside for a period of time before returning inside to get my drink that I had to ask for again. Lastly they added a forced 20% gratuity and I've never had that in my life, I wouldn't have been so annoyed by this if we had decent service! I read the negative reviews, one of them said this place may be hit or miss. I must of went on a hit night. I ordered the shrimp po-boy and onion rings. They were both outstanding. I frequently eat shrimp po-boys, usually from Harbor Seafood or Comeback Inn. The shrimp po-boy at Stingrays is the best. If you don't believe me order one and see for yourself, it was 10.00. Let me tell you, I had the best meal and experience at Stingrays today. We had a table of 5 and everything was superb! Our waitress, Becky was terrific. She is an asset to the restaurant. My seafood pasta was full of seafood, hot, and seasoned perfect. The fried pickles, onion rings, and fried green tomatoes were crispy and golden brown. The catfish zydeco is absolutely the best! Stuffed with crabmeat and fried perfectly. It puts Copelands to shame! Even the manager, Dave, came to our table to ask how everything was. That shows they care about their customers. I didn't even know this place was over there. And my sister ask me to go here with her. I don,t what other people had. But we enjoy everything. Wait someone said boil corn was to spicy. He couldn't finish his food. Before that he liked the grilled catfish platter. And the crawfish Taylor was good. We tried fried crab claws. You can't go wrong with this. I had fried catfish and fried shrimp platter. I love there homemade fish fry. My sister had the fried crab and grilled shrimp. She loved it. I wish they had more choose in drinks. But the lemonade was fine. Will go back soon! If I have to compare this place with Landry on the lake Stingray will win on food. Landry has the view and drinks hands downs! But Stingray win with food in price. You get a lot for your money. And the waitress was wonderful. Not to much but just right. And the owner stopped by. That was a nice touch. It's been awhile since we have dined here & I remember now why we haven't returned. We started with 5 lbs of crawfish, 4 of us at the table & none of us could eat them, we sent them back, mind you I NEVER send food back! The crawfish themselves were not good.. ordered the crawfish Taylor, that was good, its fried crawfish tails in a creamy sauce & stuffed into a "taco" type bowl. Next was the lobster bisque, not good save your money, also had the corn & crab soup, I have never tasted anything like this in my entire life, this "soup" tasted like what you would think licking an ashtray would taste like, it WAS THAT BAD, H O R R I B L E!!! . My daughter had the chicken parmigiana & she said that was good. My husband & I split the shrimp plate, it had fried shrimp, shrimp etouffee, boiled shrimp, grilled shrimp & 1 stuffed shrimp, which I found the stuffing to be freezer burned. I couldn't even compliment their tea as the lemons they use taste like a mixture of a lemon & orange & tasted like they didn't wash the pesticides off of them. I will not waste my money again to try this place. The only thing that was worth the money is the waitresses & tonight was her first night! read more
