This place was a total letdown for me for a couple of reasons. Firstly, had a taste for turkey necks & they had none. So opted for a small gumbo & a small lo mein. Next, gumbo had a gelatinous gravy/soup-ish thing going on...very weird. The noodles had a smell that was also super weird, needless to say, lunch was a no-go. They have a nice new location across the street from the old one on Williams Blvd now. The portions and prices have remained the the same fortunately. The only improvement I would recommend is additional seating. Now for the food I had red beans & rice with a Hot sauage dressed on bun. Beans were a just OK but u received a large portion & you can't really jack up a Hot sausage sandwich so they remain consistent in my book. IF YOU LOVE GUMBO COME TO LEE'S!! Lee's gumbo is quite flavorful and delicious. It is one of my favorite gumbos in the whole city and it's full of chicken, sausage, and shrimp. Lee's also serves poboys, fried catfish, lasagna, mac n cheese, and other various hot foods. The place doesn't look like much but they serve good food (esp. the gumbo) at reasonable prices. Everything is served in to-go boxes or cups. The large gumbo is $7.50 and is big enough for two people to share. Who would have thought that of all the wonderful restaurants in our city that Lee's would end up being one of my favorite gumbo spots. read more

With urging from several associates, I decided to give Lee's Seafood a try. Ordered rib plate and chicken plate with fried rice and macaroni. I was In and out in 5 minutes. Staff was very nice HOWEVER, both of my kids now have FOOD POISONING from the plates! Finding parking in this place was hard and the parking lot is small, so I had to park on the back street. This was my first time eating food from this place and my expectations were high. When I walked in, it smelled so delightful and all the food looked really good. Their line was long, but that's probably because it was lunch time. It was fairly quickly though, only took about 10 minutes to get my food. I got the gumbo and it was disgusting; it tasted nothing like gumbo and the color was like a beige with a tint of red. I also got the stuffed bell pepper and ribs and those were actually really good. The stuffed bell pepper was so good my boyfriend kept asking for a piece of it. I'm not sure if it was supposed to be mac and cheese or pasta, but it was decent 5/10 (there was celery which was a weird combination in it). I feel like it could've used more flavor and it didn't have a thickness to it like mac and cheese or pasta would. My bf's food tasted great; he got fried catfish, fried shrimp, and shrimp fried rice. Lee's is one of the premier comfort food spots on Airline. The randomness of the food is sort of bizarre, but each option is at least a LITTLE tasty. In other words, I have never heard anyone I know say that their food was downright nasty. I usually get the gumbo, which is not anyone's grandma gumbo (I hope). It's just a good soup with an attempt to be gumbo-like. The lo Mein is pretty good and so is their cheesy pasta with broccoli and chicken. Their burgers are great...juicy, seasoned. I'll start off by saying the portions are huge! The new building is very nice and kept clean. I ordered the grilled chicken with shrimp fried rice and chicken lo mein. The rice and lo mein were okay, could have used more soy sauce or oyster sauce to get a richer flavor. Other than that no complaints. It was still fairly good. But after much persistent nagging from locals to give this place a shot, I must say that I'm sorry I waited this long. Nothing new to report - just great gumbo at an awesome price. Chicken/Andouille/Shrimp gumbo with rice - a QUART is only $7.99 - a freakin' BIG GULP cup of gumbo for 8 bucks. Not the best gumbo I've ever had, but pretty damn close - definitely the best price, though. The medium is only $3.99, and is a perfect lunch size if you don't want to be so stuffed you can't get back to work without a nap! Lee's also has pretty decent Red Beans & Rice - I like to get it with a pork chop added - they grill up their porkchops a batch at a time, then they keep them heated in an au jus-type broth until they're ordered. - and they're BIGGER THAN YOUR FACE. 'Nuff said. Now, it's not really a "restaurant". It's a walk-in shop that's a suite at the end of a gas station building. There's a service counter and a couple of small tables - just your basic "low overhead, cheap food" kind of place. And we all love cheap, good eats. I've had the gumbo, red beans, porkchops, catfish, potato salad, and sausages (also huge, I might add). They also have a shrimp fried rice that looks awesome - I'm gonna have to go back for that one. I don't know how this place could have anything less than 5 stars. If you go with restaurant expectations, go ahead and change that. I have not been to their new location but this is a working mans gas station quick lunch spot. And they do one hell of a job. The baked fish is second to no one in New Orleans. The lo mein is addiction worthy and the Mac and cheese will have you back every time. The success of another location is no surprise to me. The drive to Lee's is worth it every time. read more
