    Fried Crab Cakes

Ordered crawfish baker and fried crab cakes for lunch. They looked completely different from my previous experiences. The sauce for both dishes were darker, broken/grainy, and had a very strong cheesy smell. Like Parmesan. I'm not sure what went wrong. I tried to eat them but couldn't finish. I woke up in the middle of the night with a bad stomach ache as well. I won't be returning. The portions seemed very small compared to what they normally are.

Excellent service and food was awesome like the location . Prices were what I would expect for food served

Five Stars. No notes. No regrets. Elastic waistband optional. From the moment you walk into StingRays, you don't feel like a customer -- you feel like you accidentally wandered into a place where people actually want you there. That's rare. That's sacred. That's New Orleans doing what New Orleans does best. Now let's talk about the menu. Not a menu. The menu. This thing has options for its options. You don't read it -- you negotiate with it. You make eye contact. You ask it questions about your life choices. So naturally, I start with a cup of gumbo. Listen... I've eaten gumbo all over New Orleans. I've had "legendary" gumbo. I've had "my grandma would slap you if you didn't like this" gumbo. This? By far the best gumbo in New Orleans. Balanced. Rich. Deep. The kind of gumbo that makes you pause mid-spoon and reassess past relationships. Then the chargrilled oysters showed up and New Orleans... we need to talk. This was hands-down the least messy, most flavorful, most dialed-in oyster experience I've had in the city. Sure, there are places that have put their stamp on being "the best in NOLA." Guess what, NOLA -- you've got competition. And I'm not talking "oh look, a new place opened, hope they make it." I'm talking about a business that's been around since 1997, survived a tech bubble, a hurricane (or three), a pandemic, inflation -- and is still turning out food and service like this. That's not luck. That's standards. Petty side note (but important): They serve Coca-Cola products. Not that over-sugared flat soda nonsense. Details matter. Now comes the main event: Zydeco Fish. Let me say this slowly so it sinks in properly: A fresh fillet of fish, butterflied, stuffed with crab meat dressing, deep fried (because joy), topped with a spicy shrimp cream sauce that could probably solve international conflicts. This dish doesn't just show up -- it arrives. Confident. Well-dressed. Knows it's good. Add a side of potato salad, which quietly steals the show like, "Oh, you thought I was just a side? That's adorable." Still got room? Try the key lime pie if you're a fan. And yes, I'm over-opinionated, so here's my take: Call your Aunt Regina. Tell her she can retire her recipe. Save her the stress of the next family reunion. Then go to StingRays, eat the pie, shake your head in disbelief that you ever considered eating elsewhere, and apologize to your friends and family for not bringing them sooner. Jamie was my server -- sweet like iced tea, patient with all my questions, and didn't oversell a thing. Just a calm, confident, "This is what we do." And they do it well. And here's the real kicker -- location. Right by the airport. Which means: * You don't have to gamble your flight time * You don't have to explain to your Uber driver why food matters more than punctuality * You can land, eat like royalty, and still make your gate without panic-sweating StingRays is comfort food without shortcuts, hospitality without fake smiles, and flavor without apology. If you're flying into or out of New Orleans and you skip this place, that's on you. Don't blame the city. Don't blame the plane. Blame your poor decision-making. Five stars all the way. I'd eat here again before my luggage even hits the carousel.

Let me state this straight up: A three star review in New Orleans, or the metropolitan area, is not a bad thing. Being a New Orleans native, I'm a tad bit harder on food around here because the culinary standards are set high in the land of Creole cuisine. The staff here is really friendly. You will not have a bad customer service experience. The food is decently priced and the portion sizes are decent as well. The reason for the 3 star review...well, you do not get that taste and flavor explosion you expect when eating food in New Orleans. The crab meat jalapeños were really well done, so no complaints there. The seafood platter left a lot to be desired. It was fried well, but as aforementioned, no flavor explosion. The mac and cheese was meh. Would I come back here? Possibly because the food isn't bad...it just isn't amazing. The banana foster cheesecake does have me wanting to try it...we will see what the future holds.

Upon arrival the hostess greeted us with a warm smile.. We were seated at a booth and waited a while (20 mins) for the server. We put in our drink orders. I received my water but not my beer. The waitress who was very sweet took our appetizer order (we ordered the chargrilled oysters) it took forever to get them, about 30 mins. When they finally arrived they weren't fresh and very fishy. Nevertheless my son ate them. After the oysters arrived I reminded the waitress about my beer, she said she was waiting for the bartender.. I asked if they had crawfish and was told no, then i was told she would check. The waitress never came back with an answer so I asked the hostess if they had any and she said yes. I ordered 2 pounds of crawfish with potatoes and sausage & my son ordered the half shrimp half fish plate. The fish/shrimp plate was delicious. My crawfish weren't terrible but I've had better, it was too spicy but no other flavor.. The order of potatoes came halved (2 potatoes) and weren't flavorful. The sausage was cut into 4 little 1.5 inch cubes. They tasted like they were microwaved. When I received the check I was charged $4 for sausage and $4 for potatoes. Definitely overpriced for the portion size. I was also shocked when I was charged .50 cents for a lemon wedge. Kinda crazy , I've never been charged for lemon water. I wanted to give this place a try since they've changed ownership. I wasn't impressed but may try one more time. The service was extremely slow, the food was just meh and it took forever to eat. We were there for 2 hours. In at 2pm and out at 4pm. I will say the inside is nice as they remodeled. If I do decide to give this another try, I hope the service is better.

I feel like waiters that get gratuity feel as though they don't have to work because they have already gotten my tip. Also they charge you $15 if you bring a cake into their establishment. Also I DID not like how they treated a group of "black" young men that came into the restaurant. The food was absolutely disgusting.i hate swai fish. And if your restaurant isn't serving "REAL" catfish at least advertise that on your menu. The fries were hard and overcooked. The egg rolls were semi decent. Definitely would not recommend this place of business

We met a good friend of ours here for lunch. His wife and US, would regularly go n out to eat with each other. It was a normal routine. His wife passed away suddenly about 8 months ago and he hasnt gone anywhere that whole time. She was my best friend. It was a pleasant surprise, when he agreed to have lunch with us. We decided to go to Zea's on W. ESPLANADE. It was obvious they were busy as most of the lot was full. The first thing we noticed was the new interior renovations. It was definitely brighter and open since the last time we were here. We finally got sat at a table, wasnt a long wait. Our server, (young lady named Taylor) was our server. She was very friendly, inviting personality and made you feel welcomed. We started off with drinks and the Hummus appetizer. Never seen a big appetizer like this, it was perfect for 3 even 4 ppl and very good. It was served with warm pita slices. I remember they served cucumber slices upon request, not sure if they still do that. The lunch entrees were Almond chicken salad for my wife. Our friend ordered the Thai rib plate and I had the Crispy duck. As far as I know, my food was excellent, the duck was well cooked and moist. The Thai ribs are usually always good, no doubt that has changed, I stole one of my friends ribs. It went to good use. My wife said the main salad was good, but she feels the chicken itself lacked flavor, but since this is my review, only my opinion matters, lol. The Thai ribs were very good. I love the corn grits and the zea potatoes. For me, I feel this was my best meal I've had all year so far. Would I come back? Heck yeah. You buying? I overall, love the change. The new menu and decor is a hit for me.

However, the food was sub par for the price. The hummus and pita Appetizer was delicious and we all thoroughly enjoyed. We had the Honey Island Chicken which was good but not $17 good. It came with basic, undercooked and unsalted fries. The daughter had the Philly Steak Panini which didn't look appealing and she said it was overly full of mayo which is mixed in with the meat. Our granddaughter had the Balsamic Salmon which looked so pretty and was delicious but it was almost $30 and came with 2 basic sides. The hamburgers were cooked well but still only came with a basic side and the fries were awful. The atmosphere was okay but a bit dark. Thankful we had the gift certificate because we all decided this was a one and done!
