Last day on the island, craving some pizza!! Decided to try Stingrays, brick oven cooked pizza. Was very impressed. Made my own pizza with 3 toppings, bacon, mushrooms and pepperoni. Very good!! Came for dinner and the food was great! Bar specials were well priced and the decorations were awesome. I mean, who could beat 2 Corvettes on top of the bar?! However, the customer service seemed to really be lacking. Our waitress kept walking past us, not really paying attention or remembering what we asked for. It took over 2 hours to get our food even though we were the only table in the restaurant! We started with chips and salsa and a side of fries; the chips and salsa took about 10 minutes to come out!! We ordered food and each dish came out individually as if the cook was making them one at a time. Tuna sliders should NOT take over an hour to put together, especially if they are asked to be medium rare!!! Overall, Stingrays used to be a great place for food and drinks...but that was over a year ago. As a Port A local, I wouldn't recommend this establishment for any meal. I came here with my two friends and two dogs. Service was good, our waitress was attentive but our food coming out took way longer than it should have. They must have been understaffed in the kitchen. A family of 4 sat next to us not even 10 mins after we did and they still had not received their food after we were done eating. Very cool atmosphere. Can only imagine what it's like at sprig break or summer. I was there in February for work and loved it. The only thing that prevented me from giving it the illustrious 5 star rating was that it took 25 minutes for anyone to see me once I was seated. It could have been due to the fact I was by myself. Omg where do I even begin!? Too bad I have to give it a star! Horrible experience, horrible service and horrible food! Only reason we decided to eat there was because we brought our dog and bringfido.com showed this place as pet friendly. Nobody ever greeted us when we arrived, I had to go inside and hunt someone down. When I asked if we could sit in the patio he said "sure" and took five 5 minutes to help us after that. Little did I know the only table left, the table all by itself where we had to seat ourselves, was a breeding ground for flies. Waiter brought our ceviche and between cracking chips to dip into the ceviche, it was attaked by several flies. I kept having to swat flies away every second to eat! Also, ceviche was horrible. I was waiting for our waiter to let him know about the flies but he never came around. I walked around restaurant to speak to someone but every waiter looked overwhelmed and busy and so I decided to wait. Finally, waiter shows up 15 minutes later and I advise him since our food is getting attacked by flies and that's the only available place to sit we would like our pizza (which at this point we had waited like 30 minutes) to go. He said he understood and clearly saw the area and food had flies. We waited almost another 30-40 minutes surrounded by flies (we couldn't even drink our waters because flies had landed on our cups and he never even asked about our waters) waiting for our food. When he finally shows up with our pizza to go, he brings our check and I noticed we got charged the ceviche. He never even asked if there was anything he could do for the inconvenience. When I asked about paying for the ceviche I didn't even get to eat, he said manager said she wouldn't take it off bill because we were at a outdoor restaurant and there are flies like that is my own problem. I got upset because of the overall experience and asked to speak to a manager. Then apparently there were other groups complaining they didn't get their pizzas either and they had been waiting even longer than us! I was intent on waiting to speak to the manager but since I was visiting from Austin, I had to leave because it looked like their problem was going to take too long to resolve. Ok...so...we have been here a ton of times and love it, BUT most everything you can order here you have to eat with your hands...the menus are so disgustingly dirty that I do not want to eat anything after touching them. They have been that way all summer. We came in on a Monday night and I realize that they are not busy and are probably short staffed, but the two tables next to us were never bussed...which attracted a ridiculous amount of flies!! Food and service are usually good, but this time I had to comment in hopes that it would get back to the owners. Needs some looking after...We see the owners on the beach all the time... Maybe they need to be watching a little closer to what's going on... Had to edit my review...in addition to all of the above, we waited over an hour for food. This used to be one of our favorite places. We probably have come once a week, but will not be back until they can fix all these issues. If I could give a review and not give a star this would be one!! You know what they say about first impressions....Well this place didn't make a good one. It took me 15 mins to order a beer sitting at the bar at not so packed restaurant. I then proceed to order food and that's when things when quickly down hill. I heard great things about the Marker mark sliders, so I order them medium and sit enjoying my beer and college football. Glancing every once in awhile at the service window to see if my food may be over there. Well it happen to show up in the window and I patiently waited for the staff to bring it to me (knowing they are busy). So 45 mins go by with my food still sitting in the window, a local orders the same thing I do and receives his food in a timely manner. So I politely asked the bartend if she could check on my food that I ordered 45 mins ago with a snide look and comment of she will check. She asked what I got (mind you she placed my order), I pointed at the guys food and said the exact same thing he did but 45 mins ago. I ask for the food to be taken off my my bill and she snaps back not a chance!! Do what?!? So I ask for the manager and she says states she's the GM. She proceeded to roll her eyes and go check on the food (which has been sitting in the window). She brings the food over to me and I deny it cause I know for a fact that its cold and have been watching it sit in the window for 45 mins, she then proceeds to LIE straight to my face and says it just came out and it was hot (touching the bun). I tell her thats a false statement and not only I but they people around me have watched it sit over there. She once again snaps back "nobody would watch a window for food"... Well somebody might after waiting 45 mins for 3 simple sliders and fries. She insists that it hot, so I ask her to touch the fries (knowing they are cold) and she tell me if they are hot, so I ask may I touch them. She refuses to my offer and throws the food in the trash. She once again LIES telling me they are hot. Mind you the other patrons around are witnessing this. She claims she cancelled my tab and tells me to have a good night. I ask for a receipt of this this and she tells me she never ran my card, I state the other girl did and my CC is in your system. She still denies that it doesn't exist , so I finish my second beer there in the 2 hours sitting there and walk out. Only time will tell if there is an open tab sitting at that poorly ran establishment. If the owners read this I would highly suggest you find someone with "people" skills and can represent your business in a positive manner to be a General Manager. Lesson learned: This all could have been solve by a quick I'm sorry I forgot about your food and I will get it re ordered and comp it for you. But instead you will now have this review about your establishment forever and lost the business of someone who just moved into Port Aransas. read more
