We've been to two other locations, and all have been phenomenal. We enjoyed the complimentary buffet. Chocolate chip cookies were soft. The brownies tasted like the air so not that great. And the mini blueberry muffins were standard. We ordered a Charleston omelette and country breakfast (eggs over medium, breakfast potatoes, grits, biscuit, and chicken sausage). Also, we had a pineapple mimosa jar. The country breakfast was good. Eggs were cooked well. Potatoes were flavorful as were the grits. Small order of grits, but with everything in the dish, it's more than enough. First time trying chicken sausage. It came in patty form. It had a nice, herby flavor, which was enjoyable. The biscuit was okay. Standard flavor. The omelette had a lot of cheese, which I enjoyed. The onions were good, could use some peppers to really set it off. The potatoes were good on my plate, too. Thought I needed them crispier, but they were actually good. The fruit was a bit small. 4 grapes, 2 melons, 1 pineapple, and 3 blueberries. Still were okay. The mimosa jar was big. Stopped in while visiting family for dinner tonight. Avery was our server. I ordered the fried green tomatoes and crispy mahi bowl. My family has shrimp and grits and a burger. They enjoyed their entrees, I feel like mine was just okay. I'm use to fried green tomatoes being a little more crispy and the tomatoes firmer and the bowl had some good flavor but wasn't my favorite. I had some of their truffle fries and I would have been happier with that as my meal. Service was great and we lucked up with a parking spot right next to the restaurant, which I could see parking being a challenge. The rate to park was decent. Love how you can open up the inside to get a breeze coming in and we ate on the patio which was perfect. Yesterday we rolled ten deep at Stir, the food was good, the service was outstanding. Sadly the server was everywhere and he needed support. At one point I saw my food sitting at the seafood/liquor bar so long that I had to end up saying something to keep myself from going to pick it up myself. Their site said if you park on the 2nd floor and above you get two hours free parking. I did validate with the hostess up front but I ended up paying $12.00 to get out of the parking deck. I believe it was a mix of validation not working and the length of timing it took to get our checks. And the checks were a challenge as we arrived 15mins before happy hour ended but we were charged non happy hour charges that were fixed after we noticed it but before we paid. Came to STIR after attending a concert on the lawn in Charlotte. It was wasn't really busy when we arrived because it was late on a Sunday day evening. We were seated quickly and the waitress was really helpful with answering our questions about the menu. I'm not a burger person but when I asked about it she stated it was really good and popular. I wanted it medium but she said it's more like a smash burger but she promised it would not be dry. She was right, it wasn't dry at all. I enjoyed it. My bf wanted to go here for brunch so we grabbed an uber and went there to eat. We got the deviled eggs for an appetizer and I loved the classic and the ones with bacon. They had like a pasta salad bar that was complimentary and it also had treats too. I had a brownie and a mini blueberry muffin. The muffin was extremely moist and was really good. I got an amaretto sour with fee foam and it was so creamy and perfectly sweet and tart. It went so well with my steak and eggs. I requested medium rare and they had this butter I had with it and it was so delicious. The eggs were scrambled and I think it was just the perfect breakfast. My bf had the lobster crab cakes and I think that was also one of my favorites. I wish it had been slightly crispier but the flavor of the lobster and crab was really good. Tried here for early dinner one Friday. We were seated promptly for our reservation. Service was good although food took a while as it got busier into the evening. The restaurant itself was nice and spacious with pretty decor. We ordered cocktails, I ordered a lemon martini which was made well. I ordered lobster and shrimp mac entree which was good. It's a very large portion with 2-3 servings. My friend ordered oysters which were on special for $1 each, and caesar salad. A solid experience. I'd return to try other dishes. read more

Looking for a casual spot, I'll be honest, STIR was not our first choice for a few drinks before our afternoon plans kinda location. But that's also bc I judged a book by its cover. We got there on time 6:15, 7:35 still did not have our food, other tables were cleared, cleaned, reseated and cleared and cleaned a second time and several tables around us who seated well after us were already eating , ordered French onion soup, it was like warm, sent it back , second soup again Luke warm, you can't eat Luke warm soup! My wife ordered a drink it sat so long the ice melted so the waitress poured the now watered down drink over a fresh ice which then melted and watered it down even more. The appetizer was good some kind of goat cheese bruschetta pita bread toast. But manager came by said there was a 33 min delay didn't comp a thing. Trying to get a table for a large group, while in town for a conference, is no small feat. But thanks to local Yelp reviews, I found STIR Charlotte for our group dinner. Despite delays in getting here from our hotel (Bruno Mars was playing in Carlotte) we arrived to find a nice, relaxed but trendy vibe inside. The drinks were refreshing and potent and tables for a large group were more than sufficient enough at a high top inside. The specials were unique and it was hard to decide because they all looked appealing. I settled on the Bento Box and a French Martini. Others in our party ordered salads or steaks. Service was a little slower than other places I dined at that week, but it was a fairly busy night. Loved the bar layout and ladder to grab "top shelf" bottles. Great place to sit and take in all the activity in the area. STIR was less than a mile walk back to our hotel on a beautiful night. I would highly recommend this place and the menu has options to suit many tastes. read more

Really cute place and we sat outside on a nice sunny day. Loved the vibes of it all and their drinks were great and strong! Service was also very good. I started with two of their oysters and unfortunately they were not shucked properly where the bottom muscles were not shucked so I couldn't eat it in one slurp. We visited stir on a Saturday morning for a brunch. My friend and I totally blanked that it was Valentine's Day, but they had space at the raw bar! We started with a dozen oysters and a couple drinks. Their Bloody Mary was good, but not memorable. My friend got the elderflower sour, but it was a little too sweet. The oyster selection was great. I often get oysters and shuck them at home, so it takes something I don't normally get for me to order oysters at a restaurant. They had 6 varieties which was a good number. I loved the little sweets, I hadn't tried those before. I appreciate that this place separated the horseradish from the cocktail sauce too since I really love horseradish and don't like cocktail sauce at all. All the oysters were well shucked too. For mains, we split a chicken and waffles and a shrimp and grits. The shrimp and grits was awesome: creamy grits, seasoned shrimp, beautiful flavor, but not so beautiful to look at. The chicken and waffles was solid, but nothing to write home about, and again didn't impress visually. I think that this place would gain a lot by focusing on their presentation a little. While their brunch menu wasn't anything special, all the flavors were there. I would probably try lunch or dinner here because I'm somewhat curious about it, but I would say this isn't the most impressive date spot. I think the strong suit of STIR is definitely the raw bar. 3.5/5 This was our first time dining at STIR in Charlotte. Overall, the experience was mixed. The steamed oysters were very good, and the Baja omelette was flavorful and well-prepared. We also ordered a vegan poke bowl to go and look forward to enjoying that later. The decor, and the overall atmosphere of the restaurant was very nice. The restrooms were very clean. It took us about an hour to receive our entrees. The biggest disappointment was the chicken and waffles. The waffles arrived cold and hard, which took away from what could have been a great dish. The service was okay--not bad, but not particularly memorable either. Our server was pleasant enough and handled the table adequately. While there were definitely some highlights, especially the oysters and omelette, the issues with the chicken and waffles kept this visit from being a great first impression. We may give STIR another try in the future and hope for a more consistent experience. read more

I usually love STIR and everything I've had typically knocks it out of the park. This time I left feeling underwhelmed. I got the steak frites- medium rare. The center of the steak was a perfect medium rare, however the outer thirds on both sides were significantly more done. I wish they didn't put the steak sauce on the plate. I was expecting maybe a small drizzle of it, but instead the steak was in a large puddle of it. The steak is good on its own and the steak sauce significantly overpowers it. I was also disappointed that my fries tasted overcooked, or maybe like they were cooked in old oil. I wasn't able to eat most of them, but picked out the lighter ones and enjoyed those. Others at my table also got the steak frites and their fries looked like a better batch. Also worth mentioning, another guest at the table got shrimp scampi, expecting the typical shrimp and veggies over pasta. There was no pasta. Just something to keep in mind if you're expecting pasta with shrimp scampi! read more

Final night of a great girls weekend getaway! Only failure was coming to Charlotte's Stir. The ONE STAR is ONLY for the very sweet hostesses working tonight. We ordered the whipped feta for the table and it was very tasty. The waitress let us know the kitchen was backed up but shouldn't be too long. I was truly looking forward to the steak frites and fries. Maybe my expectations are set too high because I know how to grill steak and cook fries. Maybe I expect too much for food & service personnel in the this industry. The waitress did not apologize for the cold food. She only took it away and back to the kitchen. A manager returned with the second try. Repeat FAILURE. My friend at our table of 4 had two tries with her Mahi tacos. First go - cold fish. Second try - cold and barely any fish in the tacos. When the waitress came to see if I wanted a To-go box, I explained I'm not interested in taking this because it came out cold again with chewy fries like they sat under a heat lamp. She took it and walked away. Should I expect an apology from the person caring for our table, as a courtesy & speaking for the kitchen? High expectation! How is he kitchen backed up and serving cold food??? The only saving grace for this evening was the manager Gary. The waitress did go back and get him again.... Went for brunch. The ambiance is unbeatable. It is simultaneously fun and upscale. They had a live band which we really enjoyed. Service was excellent. Our waiter was attentive and fun. The food didn't quite hit my expectations. The steak and eggs (steak frites) was dry. The complimentary buffet was a nice touch but again a bit of a letdown. Some of the cookies were crunchy and overdone. I didn't try the muffins and biscuits, but the muffins looked like fairly standard grocery store fare. On the bright side, the coffee was among the best I have had at a restaurant. I think if they up their game, just a tad, this could easily be a five star brunch with the ambience and setting. It is a really cool place to dine and they have a wonderful team. With so many excellent brunch options in Charlotte, it's hard to give them the nod. read more

Two big things that made this a three-star instead of four or five. The first was the time it took to eat here. We were one of maybe four other tables and it took about 30 minutes before our order was taken. The entire meal took too long for a table of four with a mostly empty restaurant. Secondly, I ordered the salmon and asked that it be cooked rare. I'm not sure they could have cooked the fish any more done that they did. It was charred on the outside and way overcooked. The entire bottom was black from charr. Overall the dish (salmon with farro) was good but the overcooked fish was a dissapointment. The rest of the tables entrees were really good. I don't know that I would say five-star level good but good enough. Each dish had a really good quality about it but was complimented with a disappointment (i.e. the lobster mac and cheese came with alot of lobster but there was hardly any cheesy sauce for the mac.). The restaurant itself is georgous and a wide open space. Beautiful fixtures and decor. Our server was very nice and cordial. read more

The ambiance, service (Keicy), and Strawberry Moon Sangria are the reasons for the 4 stars although waited about 10 mins w/reservation to be acknowledged at hostess stand. The food was at best okay and mediocre. Oysters Rockefeller & Char-Broiled Oysters lacked the expected succulence - overall kind of dry, crunchy and salty. Even the Oyster Shooters lacked - the brined taste you'd expect was absent like they had been hopelessly rinsed. Shrimp Scampi was the most decent but salty and not a traditional scampi sauce. STIR Seafood salad had very fresh greens and veggies, however, all the seafood was dry/overcooked to the point of feeling/tasting pasty. Sesame Seared Tuna suffered the same fate- overcooked and very dry. Preparation may have been part of the issue with these entrees but product quality may be the great contributor. Have fun but I think STIR is a hard pass for me. read more

We noticed it was warm inside so when asked about it, they mentioned how the a/c wasn't working which isn't their fault but I wish they mentioned that to us because we got sat. I think this is a great option for date night or a casual dinner with friends. If you're a more picky eater who doesn't venture out too far or have a more "classic palette" - I think this is a good option for you. The halibut was good but I wasn't a fan of the breading/light frying of the fish. The farro was okay and the vegetables it included was a few pieces of precut carrots. My fries were mostly soggy though whatever that sauce was - was delicious. I tried the pornstar Martini and it was good but incredibly sweet. My husband enjoyed the chicken piccata dish. Overall nothing on the menu was bad - it just wasn't anything I'd write home about. Unfortunately I think they lose some points for service as well. From a frustrated bartender who wasn't helpful to our food taking over 45 mins to come out - the staff here could use some extra help and kindness.
