I'm going to start from the beginning. All of this is true. I have text messages to prove it. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST. I was referred to this place; was told they did good work. I called ahead and spoke with a guy on the phone; told him I had a truck that had leather on the dash that was bubbling/waving and also had a cracked windshield. He told me to bring it in, that he'd take a look. I went and met with the guy I spoke with on the phone, that I'd later learn was the son of an older man, both of whom ran the place. (Father/son). They weren't the owners. The son was very nice. I showed him the issues: a cracked windshield and bubbling/waving leather on the dash. He quoted me around $1500-$1800 to tighten the dash/leather and replace the windshield. We agreed to the price. Well, while they were doing the job, they apparently tore the leather on the dash. Before they got consent from me to move forward or giving me an updated price, they went and did the job anyway. When I returned to get my truck, the windshield looked good and the dash looked good. But, without my consent, they did the job and then charged me more, a lot more. That alone upset me. They should have never went forward with the job until getting verbal or written consent. That isn't my only issue with them. Once those jobs were done, I drove my truck home. While parking, I noticed my passenger side mirror no longer folded (inward). They had always worked before. They worked them morning I drove the truck to them and dropped it off. When I called and told them I noticed the passenger mirror no longer was working the way it did when I dropped the truck off to them, the father said, "How do we know the mirrors worked when you dropped the truck off to us? How do we know you are telling me the truth?" I explained that I had nothing to lie about, that I always fold my mirrors in when parking, to protect them. It's a push button feature that most vehicles have nowadays. The man was not very friendly on the phone, he was agitated and said it was expensive to fix mirrors like that and he asked when he wanted from me. I explained to him that I simply wanted him to fix the mirror I knew worked when I dropped the truck off. I drove my truck back to them and asked them to fix what they'd broke. The father said, "I mean yeah, my installer probably manually closed the mirrors when installing the windshield." I explained to him that my mirrors worked the day I took the truck in. How did I know? I had to "unfold them" leaving my parking space to drive to their location. The day I picked up the truck and took it home/parked it? I went to "fold the mirrors" back in and the passenger mirror didn't fold. I kept saying, "please just fix what you broke." He replied, "I told the owner about this, and he told me to not fix anything, that such job cost too much money and we don't even know if we were the ones who broke it." I asked, "are you calling me a liar?" He back peddled and did say they'd buy new gears and look to fix the issue. I left the truck and waited for their call. He eventually called and told me that the gears were stripped, that there's no way they could have done all that damage to my mirror. I explained to him again that when I dropped my truck off, the mirror was fully functional. He refused to fix what they'd clearly broke. I went and picked up my truck. The LAST issue I have is that not only does the mirror on the passenger side no longer fold inward/outward as it did before, but now, when putting the truck in reverse (mirror would lower to see parking space lines), the mirror now no longer lowers. So, now I have a passenger mirror that was fully functional before I ever took my truck to them: the mirror doesn't fold inward/outward and doesn't lower when the truck is put in reverse. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST! There are other options in and around the city. Go there, this place should be your last resort. I'm big in referrals and I will do everything in my power to tell people NOT to go here. Had they fixed what they'd broke? I'd feel otherwise. read more

Wouldn't recommend them got them to install a convertible top on my car the stitching came out almost immediately on the seam next to the rear window. Then they wanted me wait until they got caught up so they could perform the warranty work on it. That was about 90 days later and believe me these guys are not cheap on what they charge either. Jeep Grand Cherokee Leather Dash. Joel and his crew did an amazing job fixing the wrinkle on my leather dash that jeep failed to adhere correctly. No recall due to not being a driving hazard. Going through a jeep dealership would have cost three time the money spent at Stiches, IF, you could find a replacement dash. I am extremely happy with the results, had to pull the windshield, which i was of course spectacle as they made it very clear if it breaks they do not cover the cost. Well, prior to having the work done I could hear a slight whistle and some resistance when driving on the fast end of the range. This noise is now gone. The dash itself looks great, they had to add a piece in order to have enough material to pull and tack underneath, once again something Jeep failed to do. The far left and far right areas where that's most noticed actually looks like its supposed to be there. Anyway, i would highly recommend if you own a jeep or any other dash issue. read more

I have a Ford Excursion 2000 7.3 L diesel with 300k miles on it. This year she turns 22 years old. So I gave her a face lift. All new carpet all new 2 toned leather seats and arm rests. All new floor mats. New decal that had been broken for sometime and back windshield wiper. My Excursions spare tire is in the truck behind the third seat. I was referred to Stitches through the dealership where I bought my car. I had an issue with the leather dash and I was sent here to have them repair it. It did take them a few days, but I was assured it was necessary in order for it to be done right. I was told that they would need to remove the windshield and then re install it. I met with Joel and dropped my truck off on a Tuesday and I was able to pick it up on Friday. The repair was seamless and I was very satisfied. I brought my wife's Tahoe in to have the leather seat repaired that my dog ripped up. The owner took one look, quoted two prices (the whole seat or just the damaged section). He said he can have it ready on Monday (it was Friday afternoon) if I let his guy remove the seat now and keep it over the weekend, or I could come back on Monday. I gave him the go ahead to remove the seat now and just replace the damaged section. Monday came and went, I was busy anyway so it didn't matter much to me. He called me Tuesday morning and said the seat was ready, and said he had some delays on Monday for which he apologized. I went to pick it up and they quickly installed the seat. I pointed out the issue with the leather looking flat, he informed me that all new leather looks flat. They rubbed the entire seat with some sort of polish and it looked good. He said the sheen will come with time and use. Not knowing about leather seats, I took his word for it. It's been about a month so far and I can tell it's different, thinking maybe I should have paid the extra money to have the entire seat fitted with new leather. Overall good job, but I wished he would have warned me about the new leather looking different against the old, but in retrospect I should have expected as much. I gave him 4 stars instead of 5 for being late and not explaining the issue with the look. read more

I bought a 2006 Porsche 997 and it was perfect except for the roof which was a little worn, The headliner was also worn and could not put the convertible top down as I tried that and I could not get it back again. I looked at the reviews and gave Joel a call. He was on it and instead of a black to I decided that Metropolitan Blue would look good against the grey paint. It took 3 weeks to order and I delivered the car and picked it up 10 days later. It is a fantastic job and both the roof and the headliner are perfect. The car now looks brand new. I took my Nissan Armada to Stitches to have the driver-side armrest reupholstered. After the owner certified that he could match the original vinyl, I allowed him to disassemble my armrest for the 1-day job. When I returned, he charged me the quoted price of $120.00, and returned my keys like any typical transaction. However, upon closer inspection, I noticed he actually used a different swatch of vinyl from what I initially selected. When I called him over to my vehicle, he REACTIVELY explained how he "wasn't able to get the exact match because it was no longer manufactured." When I asked why he didn't call me before taking the liberty of using a different selection of vinyl, he just stammered around the issue. He did however guarantee the alternate vinyl as being more supple and durable than the original material used by Nissan. However, the vinyl he selected (withOUT consulting me beforehand) did NOT match my interior. When I returned, instead of replacing it, he opted to snatch one of my headrests from the backseat so he could dye the armrest. Over the next few months, the dye began to lighten back to its initial hue. Finally, a month past the 1-year date of installation, the vinyl tore! When I contacted him about replacement, he merely reiterated his 1-year guarantee without ANY regard for the initial issues I incurred as a customer. . . Sheisty-ass business owner. . . This place was amazing! My 3 year old daughter decided it would be a good idea to use her crayons to draw on the tan ceiling upholstery on my car. I thought it was never going to come out and I was going to have to pay a fortune to get someone to remove it, or spend even more to have it replaced. I called multiple car detail companies in the Houston area and everyone quoted me $150 - $250. I found Stiches Auto Top & Upholstery on Angie's List and decided to give them a call. I spoke with Brad and he asked me to bring my car in because he would have to look at it to determine if he was able to get the crayon out or not. I got to the shop, was taken care of immediately and he was able to remove the crayon in seconds. He even gave me some suggestions on how to clean my interior until I was able to bring it in for a detail. Prior to the pandemic closure, I had major body work done on the right side of my Range Rover at a nearby body shop. To make a long story short, someone at that body shop place a car battery on my seat. I couldn't tell right away because the battery acid was slowly destroying my leather seats. The owner and staff member at Stitches Auto Tops & Upholstery were amazing. They went above and beyond to help me. In addition to replacing most of the leather on the seat, they removed the seat, neutralized the acid and replaced carpet under the seat. I truly believe the price I was charged was more than fair. I bought replacement leather seat skins (including three rows of seats, headrests, armrests, center console cover) from a company in Oregon that specializes in products for Toyota Land Cruisers and the twin Lexus LX. I took the leather skins to Stitches and had them installed for $700. I chose Stitches because of high ratings on Angie's List. In addition to installing the seat covers, Stitches replaced some of the seat foam where needed and cleaned up seat-back pockets so they look new like the leather. The installation was done in one day (dropped off the car at 9 a.m. and it was ready by 4:30 p.m.) and it looks fantastic. Second time coming here, this time for the headliner for my mom's 2007 Honda accord. The 2007 Honda Accords are notorious for having the headliner cloth falling apart from the foam. They replaced the headliner the same day I dropped it off and it looks like it came from the factory. Price was honored from the quote a month ago when I took my Lexus in for the leather seat. Meet with Joel and he brought out multiple samples to check in different light, angles, etc. We found a match and scheduled. He said in and out same day. I had to cancel on short notice and rescheduled a few days later. Dropped off at 8am, ready by 2:30pm. Very reasonable on price. This is NOT a fancy dealership so don't expect much in amenities, but you will find hard working artist busy with their craft. Ask them to show you before and after pictures. My daughter's dog had damaged the vinyl and leather inside door panel of my 2015 Acura MDX with her nails Went to Joel's work shop and had him assess the damage and give a quote for repairs. Though the work shop looked busy he was willing to take in immediately. The choice was between leaving the car half a day or have him detach the inside door panel, leave it with him, and take my car home with me. Naturally I chose the latter course. I took my 1984 Cadillac Eldorado convertible here to get my top fixed and never seen my car again. The manager called me on a Wednesday telling me that it was missing. However later I learned from the manager that the body shop who's in the same complex as stitches reportedly came in on Monday and noticed the lock cut from the gate. So my car was missing for two days and they never noticed it. oh it gets worse. So I asked the manager for their insurance info but he refused to give it to me. My car was stolen from this place back in November 2016 and I'm yet to receive any type of compensation for it. I would definitely stay away from this place if you want to keep your car. You are lying Joel. First off you lied about being the Owner and now you're lying about not being able to get in contact with me. Do I need to post my phone records.
