First of all I like to say that this guy knew that I just spent $3,000 on a Toyota I paid him another 1200 to fix it when it broke down it was broke down again the very next day. Then he proceeds to tell me about this nice Mercedes that he has 98 has been garage kept and it's still to me for 3200. The very next day he calls and tells me the Toyota's engine is bad and needs a new one or he could just sell me the 98 Mercedes it's been garage kept and is in perfect condition. I went ahead and bought the Mercedes from him I've had trouble with it every day he was responsive at first but then he quit answering my phone calls. He send me to the transmission guy that supposedly fixed his Transmission in the Mercedes previously the guy fixes it again supposedly a week later I'm having transmission problems again and out another 500 bucks. As we speak it's in the transmission shop at amco and they're telling me $3,000 to fix a transmission. He tells me will you know it was a used car when you bought it I didn't force you to. And Sam the guy that owns car traders won't answer my phone calls. You be better off going somewhere else than to go to a Car Trader. All this after he knew that I just spent all this money on this other car then he sold me another lemon. And then asked me to give him a good review when I'm driving off in the Mercedes. read more

Finally - An honest mechanic.......;-) I've been doing much of my own automotive work for the past 50+ years and have a well-equipped shop and skills to do it, but sometimes one needs a mechanic, especially when crawling around under a jacked up 6,000 Lb. SUV is not a safe option. Sam changed two worn out shock absorbers for me, inspected and aligned the front, and did so for his quoted and very reasonable price. Not only that, he'd picked up and delivered my truck. (I live close by his shop.) Of special note - Front end work is in too many cases a "cash cow" for too many mechanics who want to sell you parts that you don't always need. Sam didn't even try to do that. He'd inspected the front end after he'd replaced the shocks, told me it was in good shape, and didn't try to sell me anything that I didn't need, then performed the FEA. So far, so good. Been going to Christian bros. For years now from Houston to Austin as well. And have always had my issues with them. In this particular case my abs system went out. Christian bros. Quoted me $2000 for the part not including labor. And the part was back order 6month at the dealership they contacted. My friend at car traders not only kept me up to date but all said and done only charged me $1400 for everything. And the car runs great again and no Christmas tree of light on the dash anymore. I needed new brakes and rotors for my 2009 Lexus. Did some calling around to get estimates and Sam gave me the best estimate with a flat fee. The brakes also came with a 2-year warranty. He needed the car for much of the day, but that is to be expected if you want quality work (and it is just him working on the car). He saved the old brakes and rotors for me to inspect, and took video/pictures of the car before starting work to protect both of us from any accidentals.
