Stix is definitely my (Kelsey) favorite restaurant to go to. The food is absolutely delicious, the staff is very friendly, and the hibachi is very entertaining. Keep in mind when you order that your plate will be filled with different types of food. Most of the time, you're not going to finish half of it. That's a good thing because Stix heated up in the microwave is still delicious! Note: This place can be costly, but that's due to the amount of food you will be receiving. While I have enjoyed Stix in the past, Saturday February 2nd was not their best night, it may have been the worst. My family and I went to Stix and sat down at the Hibachi area. The following things took place: 1. Dirty plates with hair and other residue 2. My soup bowl had the wrong shade of lipstick. (I wasn't wearing any) 3. Our chef was less than pleased to be there. (Which worried us!) 4. No choo choo train with the onions. ( He just stared at it as it smoked out) 5. Too much salt!! 6. I mean we were the last customers to leave and I do understand they were closing, but are you closed if customers are still present? Most of us took home a to-go box. The day after was really terrible. I thought maybe the salty taste would die down but no, still salty. 7. I was surprised that no manager checked on us, since I had to send my dishes back from being dirty twice. Next time we are in the mood for Hibachi, we will go to Osaka or Friday Tuna. Been here quite often. When you're shopping AND craving sushi, this is you're only option. First, the ginger salad is a MUST. The fried rice is only good at habachi-- there is no science behind this, it's just a fact. The restaurant itself is pretty dirty. My table always feels sticky. And getting to the restrooms is a task. If you walk too far, you're in the kitchen and everyone is mean mugging you. And I find it strange that they keep the huge tubs of butter RIGHT BY THE BATHROOM. Someone explain this to me? Very good food but not-so-good service. We were told it would be a 5 minute wait to be seated and that all was needed was for someone to wipe down a table for us (the place was nowhere near full). It took quite a bit longer than that. We had time to sit at the bar and get a drink. A male host who appeared to be moving in slow motion finally seated us. It took an eternity for a server to show up and acknowledge us. At that time it was discovered that the aforementioned slow host had given one of us a dinner menu (it was dinner time) while giving the other one a lunch menu. So, one of us had been sitting there for a sold 12 minutes trying to choose from an invalid menu. The server offered no apology for the ineptitude of the the hosting staff, but other than that he was efficient. When we finally were able to order and receive our food I must admit that it was some of the best Asian food I've had in the Memphis area. We had won tons for an appetizer and they were plump, perfectly cooked, and chock full of the cream cheese/crab stuffing. We ordered general chu's chicken and loved it. The chicken chunks were big - unlike some places where it's mostly batter on the outside. The atmosphere is upbeat and trendy, and the 80's pop music being played was enjoyable. read more

We had a recent dinner here. It was a birthday celebration for a 14 year old boy. Also he had recently lost his mother. At first, I feared we would be delayed for seating, waiting for a hibachi chef, but the manager (whose name I should have written down) was extremely helpful and got our group of 13 promptly organized. We came for lunch. They have lunch specials but ordering off their lunch menu seemed about the same price if not even cheaper. I had the hibachi chicken. It was less than $10 and came with vegetables, fried rice, and salad or soup. The service was quick and friendly. Everything was good. I would go back here and try it again. This used to be our favorite hibachi place- large portions of great food and very good service. However, the last two times we have been we were not impressed. Service is slow and inattentive (actually ignoring us when we asked for another drink) and we absolutely did NOT receive the right amount of food for the money we paid. The family across from us (a couple and two young children) were given more than enough. There were three people in our party, and the father of the other family had more rice than all three of us put together! So what, because I'm a woman you think I can't eat that much rice? Because lemme tell ya I would've finished it. No one at the table got as many vegetables as we have previously gotten. I've been trying to find a *great* hibachi restaurant (with a sit down grill) for almost 2 years now. The soup and salad were amazing (best I've ever tasted?) the rice was SO good (thank you to the chef who put a generous amount of garlic butter in it...that's what made it so yummy!) veggies & meat could have used a bit more butter and or soy sauce (they were a little crunchy) but nevertheless- this place has been the best hibachi place I've been to in the area. WHERE on earth can you not have 2 drinks per person sitting on one table but serve a drink AND a shot per person at another table?! Normally this Stix is a five star review, but the day I went there was smoke billowing from the kitchen and they could not make the alarm be quiet. It kind of ruined my dining experience. I've had much better experiences. I'm not that picky when it comes to "atmosphere" and such, but the music in the place was up a bit loud. Our drink orders were taken quite swiftly, and they came out smoothly. I had to tell the waiter my order a couple times due to the music before he got it down...then he brought out the wrong dish...twice...we asked him if the California roll came with roe on top and he didn't seem to know what it was. He also was confused when I asked for nigiri instead of a roll (tuna nigiri, not a tuna roll). The second time they brought out two tuna rolls, half of my roll, and my salmon nigiri...when I told him I wanted tuna nigiri, not the tuna rolls, he pointed to the salmon nigiri and said that was tuna. Salmon and tuna nigiri aren't exotic dishes that only a few sushi restaurants serve. It's a very basic menu item that pretty much all sushi restaurants have. You just have to know your menu and what you're serving. I mean, it's not like I was asking for anything crazy. Just a couple nigiri orders and a roll. When he came back twice with the wrong dish, he didn't even apologize or anything. We even wrote the order down for him, but he didn't take it because he "got it." He didn't seem to want to accept his mistake. The sushi itself was okay. Not the best. The texture of the fish wasn't the best, and the rice could have been better. I also had some of my friends fried rice. Once again, it was okay. All it really had in it was the rice, sauce, and eggs. No peas, onions, etc. Kinda basic if you ask me. Didn't taste mind blowing, but it wasn't bad. The hibachi person was pretty attentive and enjoyable, so that's a plus. read more

Love the cool vibe of Stix even the wall light changes colors behind the bar leaving you entranced while you wait for your sushi. Always friendly wait staff especially Brian who is at the bar and handles takeout orders. You can order online phone in person and it's ready promptly. We often sit down for sushi and have enjoyed the yellow tail appetizer which is topped with jalapeño and sirachi sauce it's a firecracker in your mouth and so so yummy! Other favs are hot n sour soup w nice vinegar touch not too heavy not too light with moist tofu and chicken. My daughter likes the Lo mein and the loud sounds from the hibachi tables. Oh and the fire from the grills and the gong are really fun entertainment. Come early this pace gets packed. read more

It is a nice atmosphere eating at the hibachi table with family and friends and watching the Mexican Cook spin his utensils and prepare our food. The salid was small but the dressing was good. My wife and I love the sushi here. Probably our favorite in Memphis. Our three-year-old likes the kids' hibachi chicken and although we don't usually sit at the hibachi table he likes watching the flames and listening to the drum beats from across the room.
