This place has gone downhill. If I could give this place zero stars, I would. Service and food were terrible. My boyfriend and I ordered ginger salads, crunchy shrimp roll, and chicken fried rice. Our salads were drenched in "ginger" dressing. It tasted like Thousand Island dressing and was a thick consistency. Our salads arrived after the entrees. When the entrees were brought to the table, we had to wait 10 minutes before we could even eat because the waitress disappeared before we could ask for sauces. The yum yum sauce was not yum yum sauce, it tasted similar to the salad dressing. The server barely paid us any attention in an almost empty restaurant. I will never return to this place. One my favorite spots for hibachi food. They have nice appetizers including bang bang chicken (Lil kick to it) and I heard the sushi is nice as well. Drinks are usually pretty good here also. The staff is quite welcoming. They have a few new people on staff so they may not be as fast or adapted to the environment yet. Parking is kinda iffy because it's plaza style parking in an outdoor type setting. The prices and the way they let you substitute different items on the menu have changed in a the last few years. Every year I meet my kids out on the first day of the year. After being seated we had to wait for 30 plus minutes. However, my first issue is they place those nasty menus on the plates. People hands, food, and etc has been on those menus that's not good. We ordered sushi after waiting so long I just went to the sushi bar to place it. My grandson had hair in soup. No one ever came back to the table to see how we were doing no refills until it was time to pay. The sad part they weren't crowded. read more

My husband and I just left. They were two tables besides ours and one was paying. So two active tables. Food came out promptly, however there was a small black Hair on the steak, disgusting. The sushi came out and was not fresh. They probably made it this morning and kept it in the fridge. It was dried out and tasteless. I was thirsty so I ate my entire meal with no water since the waiter failed to refill our drinks. A child was playing in a high chair and fell out so our entire meal we had a screaming baby next to us. However, that's not entirely the restaurants fault but they should be more observant and not allow a two year to be standing on a high chair. Very disappointed and will never be back. read more

This place is great! It's a bit expensive, but it is also Collierville so it's not a huge surprise. But in my opinion, it's worth it. The food on the regular menu as well as the hibachi menu are great. I really recommend either the hibachi scallops and/or the chicken teriyaki. Both are fantastic. Their spring rolls are great, too. Very fresh and delicious. Next on my list of things to try is the beef tataki. I'm a sucker for beef so raw, it can still be saved by a trained veterinarian. As far as seating goes, they have regular seating as well as sitting around a hibachi. I've never sat in the hibachi section as I'm not a fan of the theatrics, but if that's your thing, go for it. There's plenty of seating on both sides of the restaurant. The service is great too. I've been going here since they opened and have never had any issues here, whether it's with the service or the food. read more

I just wanted to review this place so that all of my reviews would not be negative, so I turned ot the place I MUST eat at least once a week. Stix is a little boutique sushi/ steak house tucked away next to the imposing Bone Fish (hate the place), in Collierville, TN, Avenue of Carriage Crossings. If you want to do the Hibachi with all of the flare and flash, have at it. I simple go to a regular table and enjoy food that makes my taste buds explode. The Sushi is very good, but I am not a big sushi person. I usually order the same thing, hibachi terriyaki chicken and shrimp combo with fried rice and veggies. OMG TO DIE FOR. The salad there, with their house dressing is the best stuff in the world. The place is small and cozy and initmate with a great bar. I just love this place so much. I have to agree with my fellow Yelper's on Stix. It's Just OK. I wouldn't come here for the sushi because there are a few better options within minutes of this restaurant for that. The Hibachi food is not bad, also three stars. They do have a few good menu items worth trying. They make a pretty good Pad Thai dish. The Sesame Chicken is pretty good. I do enjoy the fried rice and the hibachi combo...shrimp, chicken and I always upgrade the beef. I love the crab wantons but that's a hard one to screw up. I've had the Tuna Tataki and I do like that dish. Overall, the bar is small and it can get pretty crowed on a Friday or Saturday night. It tends to get loud. The atmosphere is not bad but the tables are very tight and the restaurant is small. For Sushi; Fuji, Osaka or Asian Grill are much better choices. read more

I first tried this place a couple of years ago and it stills meet my expectations every single time. I usually get the same thing, but change it up every now and then. The crab wontons are some of the best I've had and I use the sauce (sweet sauce) that it comes with it for my entire meal. The sushi is always fresh and well prepared..tornado roll is my favorite. We both wanted sushi, and I was pulling for Fuji Cafe, but neither of us had tried this place, so we opted to experiment and try something new. In retrospect, I wish we'd gone to Fuji. Not that Stix was terrible - it wasn't. It was "okay". The sushi we had good for the most part, but not anything to write home about. I did like the Las Vegas roll I had. One good thing is the location - it's in the mall in Collierville, so it's convenient to stop in if you're out doing some shopping. Otherwise, I'd suggest Fuji or Osaka. read more

My mom and I have been coming here for years and can definitively say that every experience has been great. Even when busy, the servers do their best to make sure you aren't rushed and greet you with a smiling face. The food is reasonably price for the amount you receive, and has always tasted delicious. I personally enjoy the pad thai, but every other dish I've tried tastes just as good. The amicable staff really makes our experiences all the better. I was out celebrating for my friends birthday and they decided Stix was the choice. This was a nice change from the other Hibachi restaurants I have tried. We arrived around 4:15 and was able to get a table promptly. Great wait staff and no complaints about the attention to detail. I ordered the steak/chicken combo. Everything was nicely seasoned. I was about to write an average review for this place, but then I remembered how fascinated my brothers 1 year old was when we were here. We sat at the hibachi, and he was just absolutely freaking mesmerized. And you know, that counts for something. I had the teriyaki salmon, which was good but overcooked. The presentation, on the other hand (see above) was pretty outstanding. I didn't think the salad or soup were anything to write home about either. I dined here with a friend a few nights ago and we hadn't been to stix for hibachi in several years. It is not the Stix it once was. The floors were greasy as if they hadn't been mopped. The chairs are old and felt like the same ones they've had since opening. Moving beyond aesthetics...our server consistently reached over my friend and in some cases, her plate, if she needed to give me something. Tacky? The server also brought everything by hand. I'm not sure if Stix doesn't have serving trays, but if we are saying that covid is the cause of some of this as I've read in comments below, why would she be holding my martini glass by the brim without gloves? It just didn't feel clean overall. The absolute worst part of my dining experience was fanning a gnat the entire time. Imagine sitting at a hibachi fanning gnats. Not to mention, Stix is a relatively pricey restaurant, but you don't get what you pay for at all. It felt like we went to a little hole in the wall somewhere and got ripped off. The food was okay. Our chef forgot to put teriyaki on the meat and proceeded to pour me a cup of COLD teriyaki sauce. I would've loved for him to put my shrimp back on the grill and cook it in the sauce. Another thing was the chef consistently laid the spatulas in everyone's food as he added items to the plate. There were strangers sitting across from us eagerly eating their rice before the proteins and veggies were added so with each addition, the spatula was placed atop the food they were eating from. Luckily the grill is hot and covid can't live at that temperature, but the visual and principle still stand...it's unsanitary and gross. The martinis are great if you like juice. I'm pretty sure there was little to no alcohol in them which was disappointing. Add all this to your experience and get a bill over $60 for one person while fighting gnats, I just wish I had turned around when I felt the grease sliding under my feet as we walked to be seated. I ordered spring rolls, steak (filet) and shrimp. The spring rolls were lukewarm and I sent them back. I asked for steak well done and the presentation was black on one side and had a burnt taste. The steak was hard to chew and I have excellent teeth. My vegetables were lukewarm and the shrimp looked old. The food had no taste and absent of seasoning. I feared sending my plate back because I recently sent the spring rolls back. I lost my appetite and felt very disappointed because my expectations were not met. I ordered a veggie sushi roll and the spouse got hot and sour soup with crawfish dip and crab wontons to start. The dip was great with crispy fried dough and he seemed to like the wontons as well. Over a 45 minute wait to get a table for lunch today. When we finally were seated it took another 5minutes to put our drink order in . When our server returned with our drinks she was carrying one against her chest/armpit (it was only 3 drinks). We had also asked for water and had to ask for a second time. We had asked if there was a chefs choice platter for sushi and she did not know. When she came back with the info she actually stated "I'm not even going to try to pronounce this." And showed us what was written down. Seriously...you should probably know how to pronounce menu items. Our appetizers came out and we had no napkins or silverware and she did not bring share plates. Had to get up and grab our own napkins from the bar. When our silverware came they only gave 1 to me and my wife and not our son. There are only 4 tables in the non hibachi section of the restaurant and she could not keep drinks filled and did not ask how our food was until we were almost done. I visited here Saturday as part of my birthday celebrations. The food was great and plentiful, I had the NY Strip, shrimp and chicken hibachi. My favorite is the salad, I love their ginger dressing. Now aside from the food I don't like the fact that I got grouped at a table with two couples with three crying toddlers. Note-little children do not like flames; it scares them. So that pretty much set the tone of my evening. I had the pineapple martini which was ok. I should have requested top shelf because I had a headache before I could even leave the parking lot. I suppose it is better if you go with a group vs. alone so you can have a say in your company. I will say the food is good but at the price point and distance from Memphis you can get comparable taste, quality and ambiance at places in-town. No need to make a special trip unless it's on your bucket list. read more

Anyway, Stix is a hibachi restaurant with a second, adjacent, sushi bar. We sat in the sushi area, which isn't really "separate" since it's just 5 feet from the hibachi, so I did not have the most pleasant meal, gasping for air. Some of these are ventilated well, so I can manage, but this one is not. As for the food: I ordered the pad thai, which is probably the second best I have ever had. This was my first visit to Stix but it will not be my last! We went on a Friday night and only had to wait about 10 minutes to be seated at the grill. I had the steak and chicken hibachi and it was delicious. I requested my steak prepared medium well and the chef did a wonderful job making sure it was. We were seated with friendly people and the chef was great. My server was absolutely AWFUL but I won't take a star away for that. She just acted as if she hated her job. She was not friendly at all. Customer Service isn't for everyone and it's definitely not for her. I encountered other staff who was great. Overall, the food was good and so were the nearby patrons. I will be back and hopefully I won't get the same server, if so, I will be requesting someone else. (Hopefully I can find my receipt and hopefully it will have that server's name on it) read more

We lived in Marion,AR for 11 years and would drive to Stix because it's our FAV hibachi ever! We now live much closer and love to frequent this place. We tried other hibachi closer to us to save some driving time and they are just ok where Stix is exceptional! Love the fact that they have a few appetizers and drinks for very cheap if you order before 4 or 5oclock. I love the peach martini. Best fried rice and I always upgrade my hibachi steak to a filet. Small fee but totally worth it. We are spoiled to Stix:) read more

So I'll start by saying we have been dining at Stix ever since we moved to TN 15 years ago. Hands down was the best hibachi in town. I admit we haven't been in for about a year. Unfortunately it has gone completely downhill. Smaller portions, cheap cuts of meat, completely no flavor. You no longer get miso soup and salad it's either or now. Miso soup used to come with slice or 2 of mushroom. No one at our table had a single sliver of mushroom. I had steak & chicken. The steak was tough and chewy. Chicken was thin and overcooked. Half the vegetables were raw while the other half was burnt. My wife ordered the shrimp. Normally cooked in butter & lemon was cooked in oil. The cook flipped the bowl of shrimp onto the grill splattering my wife in hot oil. Hibachi cooks are completely inexperienced. Didn't do any of the normal cheesy tricks and the other family at our table had 4 young kids. We expressed our concerns to management who listened and took a percentage off the bill. He cited that they were busy and mistakes happened. It was not busy. This place used to be packed with an hour wait at 5 pm. Tonight there were empty tables. Now we understand why. We'll be looking for a new hibachi restaurant in the future. read more
