There was still a lively crowd, and the restaurant had a great atmosphere. I really try and not post bad reviews but this is one is needed after our experience last night. Please know that we have been to Stock and Barrel many times during our visits to Knoxville and always enjoyed our experience. After last night I'm not sure if we will ever return. We were seated outside at a table that was right in front of the in and out doors. We waited almost 15 minutes before someone came to wait on this. Honestly this would have been longer if my husband hadn't gone in to ask about a server for our table. Mind you, there were plenty of servers walking to help the other tables around us as we were waiting. Finally a server walked up, her name started with an A, and she was very flippant with helping us. I ordered a beer and my husband ordered water and son ordered a soda. We also went on and ordered since we had no idea when she would return for our order. She brought the water and soda but no beer and then we didn't see her (at our table) until our food came out. My beer came out with the food, a good 10 minutes after I ordered it. I know you may be thinking that the bar was backed up but her other table (that arrived after) got their drinks right away and also a 2nd order of drinks before I received my beer. She never came to check on us with our food and spent more time at the table that arrived with her friends. Her attitude and personality was vastly different with our table versus her friend's table. When it came time to get us our check. I saw her roll her eyes and walked towards us. I let it slide instead of calling her out on her actions as I just wanted to leave. We paid our check and left. I truly feel like this will be our last time here because of the service we received. We have many friends who travel to Knoxville for various sporting events (since I'm in that industry) and I always recommend Stock and Barrel. I was recommended to check this place out for their burgers, and it definitely didn't disappoint! This place is popular, so be prepared for a wait. They get busy fast, and they won't seat your party until everyone has arrived, so make sure your whole group is there. We had a party of five and started with an order of the fried pickles to share. They were absolutely delicious--crispy, flavorful, and gone within minutes. For drinks, I ordered the Darryl Strawberry since it featured bourbon, and I figured I had to enjoy a bourbon cocktail while in Tennessee. It was surprisingly refreshing, balanced, and so good that I ordered a second one. For my meal, I went with the Classic Bacon Burger, and it was exactly what I was hoping for. It was big, juicy, and loaded with the perfect amount of cheese, tomato, bacon, and pickles. Every bite was delicious. Considering how packed the restaurant was, the service was solid. I was on a business trip in Knoxville and came across this burger restaurant online with thousands of reviews and had to check it out. I also ran into a local that recommended I try their duck fat fries. The duck fat fries were delicious and topped with Parmesan and scallions with a creamy aioli for dipping. My burger was monstrous and somehow I ate the WHOLE thing because it was so juicy and yummy I couldn't stop myself. One thing I will say is I wish their seating was a bit more comfortable. When you arrive parking can be found on the street or in a nearby parking lot/garage. When you walk into the restaurant it has an eclectic, upscale, gastropub vibe. First, you'll want to check in with the host and be seated in the restaurant. For drinks I started with the old fashioned which was nice and refreshing. Next for food I ordered the farmhouse burger (Cheddar + Over Easy Egg + Applewood Bacon + Tomato + Onion + Garlic Aioli) and upgraded the fries to the duck fat fries (Rendered Duck Fat + Grated Parmesan + Scallions + Garlic Aioli). Amazing! First of all, they have an incredible whiskey and bourbon selection. Very impressive back bar which gives it a unique gastropub feel. I'm a bit of a burger snob and it's not the singular best burger I have ever had which is the only reason I'm not going for the 5 star. That being said you'd be crazy not to give their burgers a try. Came here on a Sunday, it had just snowed the night before so the restaurant wasn't super busy, but it still had a good crowd. We had heard of this place for a while and wanted to check it out and we're so glad we did. The food and service were amazing. Walking in it's a narrow restaurant, that has a bar on one side and tables on the other with kinda a rustic feel to it. We were seated immediately and our drink orders were taken. Since we hadn't been there before we got water and then pursued the menu a little for drinks. I had a question between two drinks and the server was very good at describing the drinks and ultimately decided to try the Darryl Strawberry, while my husband got the Nor'easter. The drinks came out and they were really good. They weren't overly strong, you could taste the bourbon in each of them, but it wasn't overpowering. For food we got the OPA! to start and then the Billy for me and the Mother Clucker for him. The OPA was awesome. It's pan seared feta with honey and served with fresh bread. The honey added a little extra sweetness to the feta which went really nicely with the crusty bread. The Billy had goat cheese, bacon, onions and, a tomato jam on it. It was delicious. The creamy goat cheese with the bacon and smokey tomato jam all went amazingly together. I got onion rings as my side, which were crunchy hot and so so good. The Mother Clucker was also really good. I only had a bite of it to try, but was definitely impressed. My husband upgraded to the duck fat fries which were out of this world. Super crunchy, great flavor. Our server kept checking back on us the whole time making sure we were satisfied with our drinks and food, but we had absolutely no complaints. I had the Bernie today. This was my first meal of the day and probably my last, HUGE burger, definitely big enough to share the burger and side if you're with someone. I was able to split the side--half onion rings and half fries. The fries were good but the onion rings were incredible. The beer was a little warm, but I like that they have partnered with a local brewery. We had the mother clucker sandwich and regular fries with an additional side of onion rings. They have lots of fancy / crazy sounding burgers ... but I went simple and had the 'Merican with no mayo and ketchup on the side. Burger was so good I didn't add any ketchup. Very pepper forward. I ordered medium and it came out medium (most places would be between medium well and well done). Onion rings were also nice. They have a unique texture with crispy tempura batter and very tender onions. Bites through differently. They only give you five rings but they are decadent enough that you don't want more.
