Well I'm going to hope I save someone else the headache and disappointment. We ordered drinks that were not on the menu and that was a definite don't do that again... if it isn't the usual way hey don't know how to make it. Rubbing alcohol and numb tinge two drinks in a row then I cancelled the drink it was terrible. Our appetizer was the calamari fries and cheese curds which was a 50/50. The cheese curds are good but calamari fries are not anything more than a handful of frozen calamari with cocktail sauce. For dinner we ordered the steak and coconut shrimp medium cook with man n cheese and asparagus. I'm not happy much. The coconut shrimp was great but the steak was terrible. It was tough and over cooked. Seared with a hard grill mark of burned taste. The man n cheese taste like they boiled it in broccoli water... or it was next to some but idk. The asparagus was good but hung over and was touching the tray and table when placed on the table so not sure what else it was touching in the kitchen. All in all $140 later I am not happy at all. Our poor waitress was unsure if we were going to say something about another thing so she was hesitant to come back. One Dr Pepper for my whole meal. When you go to a steak restaurant you don't usually order tuna, but I did. It was amazing. I ordered the blackened tuna salad and it was fresh, filling, and delicious. It was a lunch portion. Went for our anniversary, usually much better. I tried to mix things up by getting the zesty salmon and that was a mistake. It sounded very flavorful and a little spicy (I believe it had a little fire emoji by it on the menu) it was slightly over cooked and was just sweet nothing else. I was going to ask the waiter about the issue but after we got our food he only ever came to ask if we needed boxes (didn't refill our waters either.) I can't begin to describe how sweet the fish was. Like unseasoned salmon with a side of syrup. My husband got the prime rib. It was fantastic. Cesar salad was a little dressing heavy but otherwise good. And the appetizer nachos and bread were both really good. read more

The rolls served at the beginning of the meal are to DIE for- Texas Roadhouse could never. So soft, fluffy, sweet....ugh, I dream about these rolls! I ordered a salmon salad with asparagus, mandarin oranges, and pesto- soooo fresh and filling. My husband ordered the garlic burger- this is every garlic lover's dream! My husband and I can hardly get enough garlic into our food, so we were pleasantly surprised when literally EVERY bite of the burger had a whole clove of roasted garlic. The food and the service were good as usual. My main complaint is that this restaurant has decided to add a $10 charge if you share a meal (instead of getting 2 meals). I can understand a charge but almost charging the amount of a full meal is ridiculous. I don't know how often we will go back since there are lots of times share meals. read more

After a day of hiking at the Craters of the Moon National Park, we decided to go to Stockmans for dinner. My wife read some of the reviews and told me that the complaints were of slow service. We were not in a hurry, so we would be okay with slow service if it happened. We did NOT experience slow service on this visit. We arrived and were seated immediately by the friendly host at the front door. We walked past the bar and saw that they had a great selection of spirits and craft beers. The table we were seated at was serviced by the bartender. The bartender was extremely attentive and friendly. He took our drink order and our appetizer order. We had the coconut shrimp for the appetizer. The appetizer arrived before the dinner which is a plus! The coconut shrimp was excellent. The supplied sauce was a sweet, but spicy mix that paired well with the shrimp. My wife and I had steaks for dinner. Each steak was cooked perfectly and the sides were also excellent. The portions were filling, we did not leave hungry. The restaurant has a western theme and his absolutely comfortable. We did not experience any loud noises or kids screaming on this visit. The pricing of the menu items are on par with any steakhouse. About $50 a person with a few drinks. Excellent place to go for dinner. If in town again, I'm sure we will return. We had the WORST experience! The hostess told us it would be a 45 min wait and she'd call us when our table was ready. 45 min later we came back in and asked the hostess how much longer- she said she accidentally called the number above ours who told us they'd already been seated so she crossed our names out. We had to wait another 20 minutes for a table because of her mistake. Then we met our waitress who was stoned out of her mind. We only saw her when she took our order, delivered the food & the bill. The food was terrible. The rolls were burnt and we asked for medium steaks that came out well done. My husband and I ordered the SAME dish, but when we got the bill the waitress upcharged us $5 for one of the entrees. We asked her about it and she said that one was more expensive. We asked her how and she said "most people never check their bills, so no one ever notices we do this." SUPER shady. Won't be returning. read more

We stayed at the hotel across the parking lot and decided to swing into Stockman's for dinner. We were seated pretty quick. Our waitress, Avery, was awesome. She was attentive and as we sent little quips to her, she was quick to hand them back! She had a great personality and went above and beyond, hard to find that much anymore. There were 4 of us, my husband and I had the medallion steak with shrimp and mushrooms and a delicious sauce. Can't remember the name of the dish, but it was great. I had my mushrooms ordered on side so my husband could have them. Teen had the garlic burger with bacon added. And father-in-law had chicken fried steak. Sorry, forgot to grab pics, but it was great. The rolls were super yummy with the butter. And their croutons were delicious that were on the salad, I normally give them to the kid but kept mine and asked if he could have some so he can taste them too. read more

I have been going to this place ever since it opened. I always share a chicken fried steak with whoever I am with because they are enormous. Last night I went with my boyfriend to celebrate our 9th year anniversary. When I ordered the same thing I always do, the server said there would be a plate fee. That has never happened before. We got charged $10 for a plate. Next time I'll get it to go and not support the servers. Spending $10 more dollars for a meal that was already close to $30 was ridiculous. One of our favorite places in Idaho Falls, Stockman's Restaurant presents a stable, consistent, comfortable, place for a wide selection of well-thought out and prepared dishes, ranging from mussels or ahi salad, to grilled steak. There is a decent little bar to boot, the main tender of which knows his trade. The ambiance is split between the two halves of the building: a cozy dinning room of booths and tables, and a more open bar space with summer patio. They have a sweet finish on them and were super soft and warm. I ordered the smothered sirloin lunch special. I asked for no onions, and they were still all over the steak. It wasn't a great cut, but for a lunch special it worked. The loaded mashed potatoes side was the highlight, the flavors were booming! My co-worker invited me to lunch here instead of dinner. The restaurant opened at noon. We arrived there at 12:05 and there was already a line. Good sign! The restaurant has a cabin feel to it with deer and elk heads on the walls. The ambiance was really nice. I ordered the chicken fried steak with the sauce on the side and clam chowder. They give you fresh baked rolls with honey butter. The rolls were warm and the honey butter was a great compliment. I asked the server if the clam chowder was New England clam chowder and she had no idea but seemed kind of annoyed that I asked. I asked her if it was white and she said yes, so I went ahead and tried it. The clam chowder came in a really small bowl. My co-worker ordered a salad and her salad was gargantuan compared to my bowl. To me, the clam chowder was way too salty. It did have nice chunks of clams and the ham did not overpower the soup. I was surprised being in Idaho that there were not huge chunks of potatoes. Overall, it was not bad. The chicken fried steak came right before we finished our side dish. The chicken fried steak diameter was as big as a cantaloupe! It had a beautiful Golden crust. They served it on top of the mash potato. I quickly took the steak off the potatoes so it would retain its crunchiness. On the side of the dish made it look even bigger! The gravy was home-made and had a little sausage in it to give it a good flavor. The mash potatoes had nice chunks of potatoes with the skin still on. It was seasoned perfectly but for me, I could've used another half pound of butter to make it perfect. The steak was seasoned just right and had an amazing crust on both sides. The meat did not have any fat and each bite dipped in the gravy satisfied my taste buds. I ordered the white chocolate raspberry cheesecake to go. For $10.99 a slice, this thing better be good! The description said it was an old family recipe. I had to take a quick bite before taking it home. Yes, it was definitely worth the $10.99 a slice! This is the first cheesecake that has real raspberries on top of the cheesecake! It was creamy with a slight tang from the cream cheese. Perfect blend of sweetness and tartness. I will have to try another slice before I leave Idaho in two weeks! My only complaint was that the server was always in an rush and did not refill my soda. I asked for extra gravy to go and there was gravy dripping all over the sides of the container. Also, it took forever to get our bill and boxes. Overall, it was a great choice for lunch! read more

My appetizer and entree both were loaded with huge pieces of garlic, don't get me wrong I love garlic but it was too much of a good thing. There food it's self was great as well, the only negative was it took the kitchen quite a while to get our food to the table and the prices are much higher then the quality of their food. Brought my wife over for her birthday. She had the Fillet Mignon and I had the Chilean Sea Bass. The fillet was flavorful and very tender. It was done perfectly and the portion was larger than most other places. The Sea Bass was just great. It was perfectly cooked so that it was flaky and moist. It was topped with a mango pineapple salsa that paired very well with the bass. Our server, Taylor, was friendly, efficient and attentive. She was very informative and just a pleasant person to interact with. Stockman's always has a great relaxed atmosphere. Do Not Recommend. Spent sizeable bill on group of 13 people for birthday celebration of broth-in-law. Ordered entree (Captain's Chicken with seafood combo) and two sides - asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes. After having to wait 10 minutes to get waitress back told her still needed the garlic mashed potatoes. She said "Oh it's there under the chicken and seafood". What!! She was uninterested at all in checking on it. Others in our group had their mashed potatoes in side dishes as expected. Called back for manager who was nice and said, unconvincingly, he'd talk to her. Offered a side dish if I came back. The cheese curds were very good and the sauce they serve it with is absolutely delicious. I could eat these all day. I had the Ahi Salad and it was good but interesting. While the ingredients were all very fresh it wasn't quite my thing. I would try something else but if you like Ahi Tuna and vinegar dressing, you'd love this.
