I really wanted to give this place 1 star. We arrived around 7pm and there were a few people in line and a couple booths taken. It only has one table and four booths. It took us a while to order as it was our first time in. I can't eat all the cheese they put on most items so I went with the mushroom swiss. My wife and daughter got a basic hamburger and fries. About 20 minutes after ordering the gal walked up and said they are out of mushrooms. She offered the tri-tip sandwich as an alternative. About 30 minutes later the food came out. Meat and lettuce is what showed up as I can't eat bread. Please note that I smoke a lot of meat. This tri-tip was phenomenal. No sauce, as it should be. IDK. Wanted to love it. Was excited to try it. However as someone who spent a good chunk of my childhood in Santa Maria growing up, I was left disappointed. First thing, dude on the grill was slicing the Tri-Tip the wrong way (iykyk) so the tacos were tough and those ARE NOT PINQUITO BEANS, just pinto beans dolled up (once again, IYKYK). Pinquitos are their own variety of beans, much much smaller and pretty expensive, especially to get out of state. Also, when you do a hot dessert and it's to go, you should probably put the whip / ice cream in a separate container...instead I was given mini fried churros to go with ice cream and whip all in the container together to go and it was less than a delicious dessert experience. read more

Finally got to visit the new location on Hitt Road and it did not disappoint. There are so many delicious tri-tip choices on the menu, as well as chicken. They have a great selection of burgers (Peanut Butter Bacon Burger OH MY!), some sandwiches, salads, fries, beans, sides, and desserts as well. My son chose a tri-tip taco and a chicken taco, and the meat was super juicy and delicious with homemade pico de gallo on the side. I tried the recommended Tri-Tip loaded fries, made with curly fries and OMG... it was a heavenly pile of goodness. Tried the tri tip fries and it will be our go to from now on. It was big enough to share, which makes it well worth the price of $18 or so. It was a great combination of Mexican and bbq inspired flavors. All the ingredients are super fresh and the tri tip was great as previously. This place is great! Gabriel helped us with the choices and did us a favor with a fantastic desert, churros with strawberries and ice cream. There was no atmosphere, just tables and chairs and a couple benches on concrete floor. Pictures seemed added haphazardly and in no real order. The cook used the spatula on the hamburgers on the grill and smashed down the burgers and cooked them until they were as hard and dry as a rock. We ordered a lemonade which was very bitter and had some sort of leaf floating in it. The strawberries and lemon made it look good but we just couldn't take the strong bitterness. You order and pay up at the cash register before you get the food. So we ended up leaving the food and lemonade. The fries were ok. Stopped here on our way home to SLC about an hour before closing last Saturday. Small family-owned restaurant from CA so we knew it had to be decent at minimum. Well, they did not disappoint. Everything is homemade from their meats, lemonade, to their BBQ sauces. My daughter and I shared the tri-tip nachos with all the fixin's and it was more than enough. Crunchy chips, homemade chili beans, nacho cheese, tri-tip, more cheese, fresh pico, sour cream and we declined on the jalapeños. We topped them with all variations of their BBQ sauces. Hubby had the tri-tip sandwich with fries and was also quite happy. The strawberry-mint lemonade was so refreshing too. The woman who I assume is the owner was the absolute sweetest and took the time to describe the love that goes into their dishes. She even gave us a basket of strawberries for the trip home. The first visit I ordered everything online. I waited the 15 to pick it up. When I arrived the girl at the counter said they hadn't checked their online orders so I had to wait another 20 minutes for my food. 1 tritip dinner. Side of fries & beans. It was 25 minutes. They gave me a free lemonade. Everything was awesome. 2nd visit I called to order. Same thing as first visit but they were out of beans so they substituted garlic bread. Just not the same. I had to wait again when I arrived. There were 6 people working the kitchen and 5 patrons. The meat order was half the size as the first time I had been there and a bit on the tough side. The fries were cold. I got the fried cherry pie & it was literally canned pie filling in a fried taco type shell & the whip cream was awful. I'll never get that again & I doubt I'll return for a 3rd time. The wait & not having food that's on your menu is disappointing.
