I scheduled an appointment to have Stollwerck Plumbing service my tankless water heater and fix a leaky pipe in the crawlspace. I have used this company in the past and did not have any issues. My first appointment was rescheduled. After the water heater was serviced, my hot water stopped working. I then called JD who came out shortly after to take a look. He told me there was a part that looked like it needed to be replaced but said he could take it out and sand it off as a temporary fix until the part came. I agreed to his recommendation. After taking the part out and sanding it, the hot water appeared to be working. After he left the part malfunctioned and started burning the outside cover of the water heater. Mind you I was getting in the shower and could have started the house on FIRE! So again, I had to call JD back and have him take another look at the water heater. He informed me he needed to order the part and now my water heater was not usable until the part was replaced. (My water heater was providing hot water prior to this) JD ordered the part from Tikagi because he could not find it locally and said it would be here on Friday 10/7 and they serviced the water heater on Wednesday 10/5. After 8 days of NO HOT WATER the part had not shown up JD came out on 10/13 to do a temporary fix while we waited for the part. Today is 1/11, My part came in on 10/27 after several attempts of trying to schedule an appointment for the part to be installed. I have given up hope.I have heard so many excuses from someone breaking their leg, hurting their back, a HURRICANE, and having a baby. As a customer I don't feel like this is my business and should not have to hear ANY excuses. I do not recommend this company to anyone and am completely frustrated with this whole process. At this point writing a review is my only recourse. The picture I uploaded is the water heater after being serviced. If and when I do try to sell my home I feel this will deter buyers and may need to replace the water heater as a stipulation after inspection. read more

Very bad experience with this company. Owner decided to over charge us for a simple plumbing job the second time we had service at our home. He informed us his Plummer didn't charge us enough for the first visit, a completely different job, so he was making up the difference and considered this fair. This was not disclosed to us until after we paid the overblown bill and lodged a complaint for being unfairly over charged . This experience left us with an uncomfortable sense of deceptive practices and greed being carried out by owner of this company....buyer beware. read more

I got 3 bids and they beat everyone. Logan is professional, cool and a very hard worker. He installed 6 new bathroom faucets with new quarter turn angle stops. New PVC OP traps and SS braided supply lines. They have a top notch communication system and are on time. Ironically, the night before the job I had a water leak under the kitchen faucet which wasn't being replaced. He quickly figured out it just needed to be tightened (not replaced) and didn't charge me anything. Solid company if you ask me. read more

Reese came in to fix a leaking shut off valve. When he opened the wall there was no leak in the valve or any pipe - it was just condensation which was causing water to drip. We agreed to leave the valve intact and just repack the screw. While re packing the screw, it broke down and split at multiple places. So eventually we had to replace the valve. He did a good job and hopefully we won't see any leak in that area in near future. read more

Stollwerck Plumbing I recently had an outside faucet start leaking. I called Stollwerck Plumbing in Mukilteo. Two of their plumbers showed up on time, turned off my water, unscrewed the old handle and removed the faulty center stem. They went to their truck for a replacement part, installed it and turned the water back on. This project took less than a half hour. Had I purchased the part at a local plumbing store, it would run right around $50.00. Being a widow, I had no one to install it. I was given a bill for $389.00. After a 10% local discount and a senior discount, my bill still ended up at $386.86 with tax. I paid the bill. I decided to call Stollwercks and ask how their pricing was structured. I was told they do not charge hourly but by the job. Also that all their plumbers were highly qualified, insured and full background checks were done. They also told me their trucks are fully stocked with expensive inventory and the trucks are newer and expensive to maintain. So in conclusion, I was paying for their crew's wages, their company inventory and the maintenance of their fleet. Remember this was a half hour job, using a $50.00 part that I'm sure they get at cost. I can not give them a good review based on the pricing. Their service was performed as expected. I cannot recommend JD and Stollwerck Plumbing enough! I woke on a Sunday morning to the sound of hissing and dripping water behind my shower surround. Having no previous encounters with a plumbing company, I made the mistake of contacting another company who guaranteed a plumber at my doorstep in an hour. Two hours later they arrived, and needless to say, we did not get along well. Frantically searching for after hour plumbers lead me to JD and Stollwerck Plumbing. He arrived an hour later, on a Sunday afternoon. He assessed the situation and very clearly told me what was going on and how long the process would take. An hour later and I have running water in my home again, no leak in the shower and a new job for my husband (mice behind the wall was the reason for the leak). My husband and I own a rental in Arlington, WA. About 2 weeks ago, in the early morning, our tenants informed us that the hot water was not getting hot. We had recently relocated to Chicago so being over 2000 miles away, you can imagine our dilemma. I quickly went to YELP! It was 8:30AM CST (6:30AM PST) when I called J.D. and after a few rings he answered the phone. I explained to him our predicament and told him that I needed someone to take a look at the water heater THAT DAY around 2:30pm. He pleasantlty agreed and worked us into his schedule. Been trying to get a quote from JD since November for some specialized work on a couple of houses. Never returned calls and never emailed promised quote. Finally today spoke with JD again. He now turned away the work and told me he did not even have time to talk to me on the phone or to provide a quote for the work. Addition: JD's response is as expected, nowhere near the truth. Next complaint will be to the BBB after he called several times today (until I blocked his number) to have this review removed and the threats he made if I did not do so. Check your temper, not someone you want to do business with. BBB Negative Review: On 02/06/2017 I called JD Stollwerck on his cell phone as I had not received a written quote for specialized plumbing work I had requested on multiple occasions. This was for the removal of sediment from water lines for two homes with a shared well. During three different calls JD promised that he would provide a written quote to me via email. During our first conversation JD did provide a verbal quote of $4000.00 per house for the required work. I told him I was having a hard timing finding someone to do the work. He told me it wasn't that hard as long as you had the right equipment. He told me that he had the equipment but could not do the work for a couple of weeks. I told him that I needed a written quote to provide to the builder. He assured me that he would email me the written quote. I left several voice mails for him requesting call back and he never responded to. During this call JD told me that he had lost an employee and was having a hard time keeping up with work. He told me towards the end of the conversation that he just did not have time to provide a quote and he was no longer able to do the work because he was so far behind. He added, in fact I really don't have time to give you a quote or to talk to you right now. At this point the conversation ended. I went to Yelp where I found a total of five negative reviews regarding issues with Stollwerck Plumbing and referenced JD by name. I provided a negative Yelp review for Stollwerck Plumbing outlining the series of events since November of 2016. Within about two minutes of posting the negative review I received a telephone call from JD. I did not accept the first two calls and finally answered the third call made in less than 2 minutes. He started yelling at me and several times referred to me as a "punk assed bitch". He demanded that I delete my negative review or else. When I asked him or else what? He replied, nothing. He continued to berate me for the negative review. He told me that I was a "punk assed bitch" hiding behind my computer screen and that if we were in person I would not be this way. At one point he told me that he would come to my house and give me a quote. He said this in a very threatening manner. I told him that it was too late for a quote, dismissing the threat he had made. He continued to call me names demanding that I remove the review. I told him that he could contact Yelp if he wanted it removed. I asked him, why is it that you don't have time to talk about a job but you have the time to call and yell at me? He continued to call me names. I told him that I was done talking to him and that I was going to block his number. He continued to yell at me, and called me a "punk ass bitch" again as I hung up on him. I then immediately blocked his number from my phone. I later found that JD had posted a response to my review. He flat out lied about our previous conversations and said that I was trying to conduct insurance fraud and that is why he had refused to provide a quote for the work we needed. I am providing this negative review to the BBB as I don't feel that the actions taken by JD Stollwerck of Stollweck Plumbing are the actions of a BBB A+ rated business owner. His cursing, name-calling, and threatening demeanor are truly an outrage. read more

I am so pleased with JD's services - he was the only one who would come out to look at my gas leak issue without charging a "service call fee" (other companies quoted me $85-150 to come out just to LOOK at my problem and give me an estimate). He got here within an hour of me calling to look at the problem. From there, he gave me an estimate and described how he would fix the problem. As he did the work, my husband and I realized we hadn't mentioned 2 other areas in the gas pipe that had been flagged. JD fixed them ALL in the timeframe he promised and for less than what he quoted me originally to fix just the original problem! So happy. I would recommend JD without reservation and he would be the only one I'd call again in the future. I have to also add that when PSE originally came out to look at our gas leak, the guy told us it would easily be in the range of $400-600 to get the one leak they found fixed. JD ended up fixing all three for less than the lower range of PSE's estimate. So I felt like JD was very reasonably priced. read more

Meant to write this last summer when it happened. We discovered a huge leak our side of the water main (sprinklers installed by a landscaper a few years before) on a Sunday afternoon. JD lives in the neighborhood though we hadn't met. My husband walked up and knocked on his door. He left his dinner table to come and look and diagnosed the problem. I had Stollwerck Plumbing come out 11 months ago. They were helpful, efficient and friendly. They give you a 2 hour window for when they will arrive and call when they are on their way. Today, I had to use a "big brand" franchised plumbing service and wow, what a difference!!! (Stollwerck was booked up for when I needed them so I had to look elsewhere.) Stollwerck raised the bar so high, that the big brand plumbing service didn't even compare. The big brand company gave me a 4 hour window and was double the price. Double!!! The service was not as clean as Stollwerck or nearly as detailed. You will see the value in the work that they do. There is absolutely a difference between service and professionalism when it comes to picking a plumber. Definitely worth the 5 star review! read more

If you're a woman steer clear of JD Stollwerck! He will take advantage of you, lie to you and charge $350 for one hour's work. I am 78. I had two toilets that were constantly leaking and refilling, a tub that was slow to drain and a leaky kitchen faucet. The workman Logan came to the house but only repaired one toilet with a small rubber ring as the other was not demonstrating any immediate problems -- until a week later. He snaked the tub but told me to repair the kitchen faucet myself with CLR. When I phoned JD with my complaint he apologized and said he would come out free of charge and fix the toilet and we could discuss what to do with the kitchen faucet. The following day he called me and seemed to be under the influence, he did not remember talking to me the previous day, and said he would have to charge me. He wanted to know when my son would be here from California. My son? JD was ok accepting $350 from me, not my son. I was always polite to both men. I never raised my voice but calmly described the problem I had. read more

I needed 5 new faucet fixtures installed after having new granite countertops installed, and a leak repaired under a bathroom sink. JD called me back immediately, agreed to be at our home at 8 AM the day after the countertops were installed, and quoted me a price that was LESS THAN HALF of what the big box stores wanted for the same installation services. JD had no problem coming out to Camano Island, arrived exactly at 8 AM as promised, and did a superb job with the installation in just a couple hours. I had an appointment with JD for last Saturday to install a garbage disposal that potentially needed the wall stub out to be lowered. (The reason we called a plumber) JD never showed up, never called and never returned my messages. It was very disappointing, especially since he made extra effort to track down my address on Friday night after he lost it. I thought that was a reasonable confirmation we would see him in the morning. I thought maybe he had some sort of emergency and I would hear from him Monday but I never heard anything. Oh well, we ended up doing the work ourselves (not how we planned to spend our Saturday) after giving up waiting on him for 3 hours. It saved me $500 and now I know who NOT to call when my home or one of my client's homes (I am an architect) need plumbing work. Mike and Logan came out and did a very exhaustive search, but found no leaking water, even under the house in the crawl space. I felt so comfortable that they had searched everything they could.
