Quality meats, juices, and quality desserts! I didn't know there was a place in Intercourse. I just knew about the one in New Castle, which I would get this upside down pineapple combination pie. I haven't been able to go to that place in a long time and I was hoping they'd have it at this location, but they did not. Nothing too non-mainstream like that for the pies, and maybe the pandemic caused some things like that to be lacking in supply. Pineapples aren't exactly in season either- so that could be it too. read more

This is a large supermarket with a large selection of produce, baked goods, beef jerky, and meats that come mostly locally. Inside there is also a small restaurant with homemade-style breakfast, lunch, and dinner selections. The restaurant is set up like a cafeteria where you order food at the cash register and wait for your food at a table if you did not opt for takeout. One of the restaurant staff will bring you your food to your table. The supermarket is clean and neatly organized, with items easy to locate, and has some friendly staff. read more

We stopped by for lunch and to check out the market. The market offers a wide array of meats, cheeses and prepared foods both fresh and frozen. They also have a small bakery. 4 stars For lunch we visited the restaurant and ordered a BLT, cup of ham and bean soup, scrapple sticks and an sausage sandwich with peppers, onions and sauce. After you place your order you go to the store registers to pay and then locate a table and wait for them to call your name to pick up your order. First of all the sandwiches were really good, and had nice portions. The only negative I noticed is that it was super busy and hard to move through. It's also kind of annoying to wait in a long line to order and then you have to go wait in another long line on the grocery side to pay for your food order even if you're not purchasing anything on that side. Every month, my wife goes to a sewing class nearby. I stop in for breakfast. Amos' Special never disappoints! It's basic, eggs, meat, hash browns, and toast. Definitely order the scrapple! It's their product and it's well cooked, thin sliced and crispy. Incredible. I go away for a while and we are often back for lunch. Generous sandwiches and burgers. Had stopped here several times on past trips, decided to grab lunch. Staff were very efficient and friendly but I ordered the turkey twister and the pretzel roll was burnt and hard on the top and appeared it was reheated. The bottom of the roll was soaked with oil or butter and basically the sandwich fell apart. My wife ordered a ham sandwich on a roll and that was fine. They have many selections and always had good food in the past but i would not recommend the turkey twister. We definitely will return to try some other options. read more

Every time we go near Intercourse this is one of those places you just "can't not" stop at. They have such a wide variety of central PA favorites (snacks, cakes, spices, jelly, desserts, chocolates, noodles, etc) and quality meats cured and un-cured. This is a MUST for food lovers. I generally spend most of my money and time on the shopping side. They have a lunch counter that does a decent business. Warning! Not everyone behind the counter wears a mask!! This is the cause of not getting the last 2 stars. We had lunch to go and the hot dogs and fries were delicious! We try to stop here when we make it to this section of PA. We love the Amish country. Today we stopped for lunch and a few grocery items. The pork apple salad was really flavorful, but don't order it for health reasons - it was tasty. The chicken Ceasar was also very good. The rueben was good, not great. The staff is very nice, the lady cleaning and sanitizing the shopping carts was sweet and cleaned one of the outdoor tables for us. It is definitely worth a stop. read more

This has become a stop for us when we come down for food. The prices are just a little outrageous. There was a cooler for sale for $80 that was the size of a large lunch bag. One frozen chicken breast was $9. Zook's pies are overpriced and can be purchased for less money five minutes down the road. This is a fantastic place to pick up Pennsylvania Dutch specialties. They have a large selection of fresh meat and poultry and lunch meats and cheese. I love the chipped beef which makes a fantastic creamed beef on toast. The restaurant which is attached to the store is a nice place to get a bite to eat. The portions are huge and everything I have had here has been delicious. I particularly like the chicken pot pie which is always full of chicken and vegetables in a tasty pastry crust. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating. You place your order at the counter and pay for your meal in the store. They call out your name when the order is ready. Don't forget to pick up some fresh baked fruit pies and cookies for your trip home. The pot pies, both chicken and beef are available in the store and are frozen. They also sell ice packs and insulated bags. In an area where there are many tourist trap restaurants with so so food this is a refreshing place to shop and eat. read more

Stumbled on this market/deli when we stopped for coffee nearby. It was a really awesome addition to our trip. The deli sandwiches were amazing and so fresh: I got a roast beef sandwich and my husband got the Ultimate Pulled Pork sandwich. We also walked around the market while our sandwiches were being made and picked up some really cool items we couldn't get at home. I definitely recommend bringing a cooler for meats/cheese/butter purchases. They sell coolers in store but they are $70. Everyone inside the store was wearing a mask and all the employees were very friendly. read more

This is a large store and deli where you can purchase all kinds of varieties of locally grown meats, sausages, preserves, cheeses, etc. in addition to ordering a freshly made sandwich or other entree. So, my fiancé and I decided this evening to give this place a try; and let me tell you, we were in no way disappointed. We each had ordered cheesesteaks, cheese curds, and the broasted chicken. The cheesesteaks, which we are both extremely particular about considering we'll drive to downtown Philadelphia at all hours of the day and night for; were absolutely incredible. In all honesty, the best we've had yet outside of Philly. The cheese curds, were different; but in no way bad. The breading was wonderful, and we definitely want to try them warm next. Now, the broasted chicken. Without a doubt, the best I've had as well. Even when considering having fried chicken from the true south. The breading was delicious and flavorful, which managed to carry its way into the white meat. If you've never eaten here, they certainly deserve a chance. We will be back, and will definitely be looking into their butcher's case for some much needed and awaited grilling items! read more

I heard about this place from a coworker then explored some of the reviews before stopping in. We definitely had to try the Broasted Chicken which was awesome !!!! Not only was it really delicious, when I ordered it, they asked if we wanted chiken from the case or freshly cooked; this I could not believe. We went for freshly cooked and it was incredible not to mentions reasonably priced, and the French fries were awesome too, more like Pom Frites. Next was the take home meats. I picked up a variety of sausages and salami including sweet bologna and sweet Lebanon. The Chicken Feta sausages were absolutely incredible!!! They cooked up perfectly on the grill and I live the natural casings; this is how sausage should be. The Sweet bologna is incredible, and is the smoky sweet flavor of the Lebanon is pretty awesome!!! Just about every year our family visits the area and we always stop here at Amos' place for either breakfast or lunch throughout the week. Some of the family favorites include the burgers, chicken salad sandwiches or wraps and for breakfast the pancakes, eggs and amazing breakfast bowl.
