We went on Father's Day and we had a very in-depth explanation how everything worked before we ordered. Several adjustments had to be made to our cooking element, but all in all it was fine. The pork belly is just bacon and while it was very good, I would skip that. I would do their special steak and the fillet those were absolutely delicious. The shrimp was large, but frozen and so was the squid so while they were OK, I wouldn't waste my time ordering or cooking or eating them. The meats were by far the star. This was the worst experience at a Stone Age BBQ restaurant, the interior was very old and outdated, there was a live giant roach crawling all over the floor, I had to direct staff to sweep it up. The focus of our server was not on the customers but rather to her coworkers. The mushrooms and vegetables were not washed, they were full of dirt. The thin cuts of meat that you're supposed to receive were the thickness of a meat patty. Coke was flat. We assumed we were going by lunch prices, arrived at 11:30, we saw certain items were marked dinner only so we skipped over them, she did not inform us it was OK to order. I believe we did not get the whole experience for the price that we paid. Management needs to train the staff more thoroughly, this would have led to an enjoyable dining experience, as well as training to the kitchen to properly wash and cut ingredients would be thoughtful to the overall meal. I honestly would not recommend anyone to this restaurant until changes are made. We have been here many times since they have opened, and each time the place seems to slowly be going downhill, which I am sad to say. They keep slashing the menu while raising the prices. They have even cut down on what sodas they offer. For example, they do not have diet, only offer Coke Zero. I do like many of the sides. We did not like any of the chicken. Certain beef is your best option. I have not done hotpot yet. So cannot say anything on that. The place does seem to be a bit more unkept. Both in maintaining the gimmicky things like the lights and screens to just basic cleaning. Will say the best part of this place is the wait staff. I told him I was aware so he sat me right away. My server was super friendly and helpful. He was also very attentive. I was dining alone so I think he just wanted to make sure I was good. This is a restaurant where you cook your own food at your table. However, my server cooked my food for me. I had no complaints. You can try everything on the menu (within the 2 hour maximum dine in time) because it's like a buffet. You just can't mix the different types of meat at the same though. For example, if you want to try chicken and beef, you have to cook the chicken and beef on different hot plates. It can't be on the same one. You also cannot take any of the food in to go boxes since it is all you can eat (within the 2 hour time limit). Everything I ate was delicious. I had pork, beef, rice, and dumplings. Met the kids in Huntsville for dinner, they had heard good things about Stone Age and suggested it for dinner. Located in a strip mall just off Memorial Parkway, the decor was not what I expected for a traditional Korean restaurant. Mega screen projections TVs were showing Korean "MTV" music videos and lights were dancing on the floor. Felt more like a "rave" than a Korean restaurant. Floor was greasy, bus carts with food and dirty dishes were located out in open in the dining room. Restroom cleanliness left something to be desired. Waitress was prompt and brought out the table shares immediately, as well as drinks. We told her this was out first time, so she explained the process in detail. She was super attentive to our needs throughout the experience with a outgoing personality. We started off with the ribeye and the Stone Age chicken, as well as kimchi, salad and fried dumplings. The chicken was well marinated and thinly sliced, cooked nicely with a great flavor. The ribeye was thick and moderately marbled, seasoned well. As this was our first time the learning curve for cooking at the table was step. No knives are allowed, so you have to cut your meat with a pair of scissors so it cooks quicker and to be sharable with the table. The Stone Age salad was awesome! A little sweet and a little spice mixed into the dressing with fresh cut lettuce and veggies, I had three servings. The kimchi was moderately warm and well fermented. Nice flavor! The dumplings were a winner, I personally had 4-5, and the dumpling sauce was a nice soy/sesame flavor. We used it on some of the meat as well, and asked for a second bowl. Next came beef bulgogi and Stone Age steak. The steak was marinated cube steak, coming to the table in thick, large pieces which were difficult to cut and cook. Our waitress suggested searing them first, then cutting and finishing cooking. That ended up working well, and they had a nice flavor. The bulgogi was marinated, thin strip steak. Cooked quickly and was a table favorite, although I wish we had some marinade to serve over it after cooking. We then tried plain and cajun shrimp, the waitress steared us clear of the squid. The shrimp was raw, still in shell and not deveined, which made it difficult to cook and season. Once peeled, after cooking, the cajun shrimp was just as bland as the plain shrimp. Our last course was pork belly in a lettuce wrap. Pork belly was not marinated, but was still excellent. My wife declared it her favorite. The biggest disappointment was that they didn't offer Kalbi (Korean short ribs) and Jap chae (glass noodles and veggies). This would have been a nice lunch destination, but at $34.99 a person, plus drinks and tip, it didn't meet that five star quality and atmosphere that I expect at that price point. Food (flavor and taste), I give 4 stars. Atmosphere , price point and cleanliness, 2 stars. Waitress and service, 5 stars! Overall, good experience, so a solid 4 star rating. Real good food for good price. I came here first time like a month ago for lunch on a week day and got the all you can Korean BBQ and hotpot option. For about $30/person (before taxes and tip), you have a selection of different meats you grill on the tabletop and each person gets their own little hotpot that's heated on the table as well. I chose the spicy broth option for the hotpot but do wish I got original and seasoned it myself as the spices were really heavy. They have a nice little sauce bar with your fixins to make your dipping sauces. They have a lot of different fresh veggies and noodles for both the grill and the pot. I would go back any time I'm back in the Huntsville area. I personally would do just the grill next time for $20 week day lunch. I believe it's about $30 for dinner / weekend. read more

The service was not good because there was language barrier issues. She barely spoke English; did not understand our questions; she had to leave us to go and do a birthday celebration. In my family we are huge fans of Korean BBQ. Relocating to Hunstville from Northern Virginia/DC suburbs where Korean BBQ is everywhere we first went to Stone Age 3 years ago. It is consistently a great food experience with quality meats , side dishes, drinks and a phone atmosphere. We've had ok service and great service at this location and the one in Madison. We came here for dinner and the place was at full capacity. We did not make a reservation, but I recommend it. They are taking temperatures at the door, but we all know that people can be sick without a fever. Anyway, we sat at the back of the restaurant facing away from everyone at the high top bar. I got the pumpkin pie martini. My husband got a maple old fashioned. We were excited to find that the restaurant was all you can eat. Next time I think I'll starve all day! We went with two types of beef and two types of chicken, along with salad and bibimbap (do not recommend the ramen). Everything was super tasty, the sauces were a hit (and I did not find them sweet at all), and the staff was super friendly. They kept making sure we knew what we were doing (we kind of did) and it was an adventurous, fun meal. The set up inside is very nice the only negative is the table can get crowded with all of the plates. The best thing on the menu is the steak. It is marinated so well and tastes amazing. The two that we tried were the Stone Age steak and the Hawaiian beef bulgolgi. Both of these were absolutely amazing. Another thing I would highly recommend is the lemon chicken. It was seasoned perfectly and was cut in a way that it cooked easily and even. The pork and seafood were okay, nothing special but considering you only have a 2 hour time limit to eat, I would suggest sticking with the steak and chicken unless something catches your eye. The sides as well were a mixed bag. The dumplings, ramen, and fries were fantastic and were a crowd pleaser. The other sides were okay but these were the top 3 in my opinion. So, I read up, I watched some videos, I checked out the comments on a related Facebook query I posted, and I went. If you're unfamiliar, do the same. Stone Age Korean BBQ is a success! Don't let the people who "don't want to cook for themselves" bother you. This is NOT a place where you get ingredients and do all the work (steak, burger, etc.), but along the lines of Fondue Bourguignonne in a Swiss restaurant or Sukiyaki or Shabu Shabu in a Japanese eatery. In those, you cook the raw ingredients in oil or broth to your liking. Everything else is readied for you. In this case, your sides (Banchan) are prepped, as are sauces, and so on. For example, the staff brings Bibimbap to your table (Rice covered with various arranged Veggies) and even mixes THAT up for you. Meats are cut and sliced; in the case of spicy varieties, they're also marinated. It was suggested we select two meats at a time. Also (in our case, or everybody's?), you are asked to pair a beef with a beef, a pork with a pork, etc. Don't worry. THERE'S MORE. This is your chef moment: grill each meat to your liking. This would NEVER work in a buffet line. Nor would you want the waitstaff to keep bringing them back and forth every two minutes. Geez. Put in a little effort. You're brought tongs to turn the COOKING meats, scissors to cut the COOKED meats, and chopsticks AND utensils (fork/spoon) with which you eat. HINT: Just use the tongs for the raw and cooking meats. They don't tell you that. YOU WANT TO AVOID CROSS-CONTAMINATION. If you've ever been felled by an idiot host - MOST likely with CHICKEN - remember this. We once had eleven or twelve people get Salmonella from an idiot cutting cooked and raw chicken on the same cutting board. As Popeye once said, "Thanks for the house-brutality." For the same reason, use the scissors only on cooked meats. This is for those who want smaller bites, to trim off fat, or what have you. Pull the cooked meats off the grill and eat with fork or chopsticks. You can dip things that AREN'T marinated in sauces--your preference--before OR after grilling. You can also grill certain accompaniments, say raw garlic or jalapenos, if you like. This is another thing they should suggest, but don't. Meats can go atop the Bibimbap. I tried that, but it's a lot of space given to rice. The handiest side to get is/are Lettuce leaves and, although they appear to use rock-ribbed Romaine, which breaks, it is the most convenient way to devour, besides just eating off the plate. You can top THAT with a little Bibimbap. Best of both worlds. Among the "toppings," you'll see julienned white radish (surely Daikon), sliced, pickled (sort of purple) radish, Garlic, dipping sauces, and such. Mix and match. It's like stacking a sammich, or rolling a "cabbage-free cabbage roll." One commenter said Kimchi (in this case, Cabbage) goes well with the pork. Try it, and see for yourself. Another person suggested, if trying chicken (we didn't), that one begin with that, then build up to the stronger-flavored pork or beef. So no "mouth shock," as happens when you drink Iced Tea but THOUGHT it was Diet Pepsi. You don't need to dip the spicy meat offerings in sauces, unless you just gotta. The plain ones, well, you just GOTTA. The beef soup is mostly a broth. I thought it might be a consommé, but I doubt it. There's a little cooked radish in it, and scallions atop. I didn't want, nor did I get, scallions. IT IS A GREAT side. You might use it as a palate cleanser of sorts after you switch from beef. Or just sip it. Whatever. The Dumplings are a great side. But if you've had Dumplings elsewhere, remember they take up SPACE. Ha Maybe get one bowl and split it multiple ways for "sampling." As for "Hawaiian" style...if you've GOT to have pineapple, enjoy. No biggie, for us. Your server will periodically clean your grill. If it gets too many charred things stuck on it, you can request a new cover --or they may just bring one, anyway. Asking is totally cool. Since charcoal is not feasible for this venue, the grill's gas-powered, and a dial allows adjustments, as necessary. BTW, if you're long-legged...the grill works are under the table. Sit back a little. ha Many commenters here and there have mentioned the K-pop (Korean popular music) on TV. It is unobtrusive, yet atmospheric. The screen over the bar (which also has grills) had scenes of ocean life. MINIMAL EFFORT...and 200 permutations of which sides/sauces/meats go atop which rice/lettuce/fork. I would not recommend this for more than five people, including you. You may get away with eight for fondue, but a lot of communal dishes are best for "small communities." I was thoroughly surprised and enlightened to see how serious they were taking covid guidelines. For $30, you get all you can eat per adult. You can choose literally anything and keep eating as long as you eat everything that you order. The offer unlimited sides and meats. Meat offers were several flavored pork, chicken, shrimp, and several flavored beef. I was most partial to their pork belly and their varying beef options. Service is unlimited. What do I mean? You don't have just one server, and if you do, you certainly wouldn't know that considering you had someone coming to your table every few minutes to ensure you were happy with what was going on in your dining experience. The best advice I can give before coming here is to visit with an empty stomach and be prepared to eat. This is not for the faint of heart. I do not know if I could do this regularly.
