God this place is so cool!! I want so many things they have in there and walking around the store makes me wish I wasn't so DAMN broke! Even on a tight budget, I was able to find a beautiful fossil for only $30 (including the stand) and we got lots of other fun little beads and minerals. Wonderful selection, friendly staff, and SURPRISINGLY LOW prices. I wasn't able to afford a 500lbs agate cathedral BUT I know where I'll be going to buy one when I can! DAMN IT!! GREAT selection and fair prices. This is one of the best rock shops out there. I came here often when I lived in Reno. They carry many meteorites, fossils, mineral specimens, crystals, ornate carvings, and beautiful decorations. Feel free to bring your kids to enjoy all the pretty things, but be forewarned that there are lots of FRAGILE and EXPENSIVE items on display so you'll be leaving with an empty wallet and an overdrawn checking account if your kids break something. read more

Hands down my favorite crystal/rock/ammonite store I have ever been into. Also one of my top ten favorite local businesses to buy from. I think the people that work here are wonderful and very helpful. They package up the purchases beautifully so they are ready to gift. Prices are so reasonable. Dan was very helpful with offering up more stuff that wasn't in the front shop yet and even carried my crystal bounty purchase out to my car! This used to be one of my most favorite places to shop. The selection is wonderful - and that part hasn't changed. But the last few times I was in, I have to admit customer service was lacking... and one time, actually rude. Not sure if the place changed hands or if management simply does not know how to hire helpful and kind people, but they really should get on the ball and revamp the customer service aspect of the store. Was in town during Thanksgiving visiting from LA with a serious rock hound friend of mine. I'm new to rocks and this shop blew me (and her!) away. We spent *4 HOURS* in this shop and still needed more time to peruse everything. Neither of us ever got tired because we were buzzed off of the energy from the place (if you're tuned in, you'll feel it as soon as you walk through the door). We were bedazzled by the extreme selection offered. Rocks, minerals, crystals, fossils, jewelry, butterfly collections, etc - from the small to the very large, specimens from all over the world and everything labeled. The quality of what was offered was imho, excellent and I instantly did 80% of my X-mas shopping in the store (and what a relief knowing my holiday shopping was practically complete and post note, I was a big hit during X-mas with my unique gift-giving). As for prices, *very* reasonable. In fact, better than most rock shops that I've (so far) been to. The staff was knowledgable and very friendly. *Do* drop by this store if you need a cool gift or are looking to add to your personal collection. read more

I was referred to Stone Age Quarry from a neighbor in Caughlin Ranch who makes jewelry. I called to see who I needed to speak with that handles their marketing and advertising and was told "that person is not here and if he was interested he would find you, thank you have a nice day" ...and click! She hung up on me! VERY POOR customer service. She has no idea who I am or how being hung up on effects the "word of mouth" in the business and consumer world. read more

My favorite rock shop ever! I buy a lot from them as their prices are very reasonable. Most of the staff is quite knowledgeable and they will give you paper slips about the stones you're purchasing so you won't forget when you get home. I'm not one to go out of my way to type a review especially a negative one but after thinking about it when I returned home from my mini vacation in Reno I find it necessary to share my experience. My husband and I visited the store Monday May 23, 2016 in search of crystals for our son's jewelry business after taking our time and selecting a few pieces we went to the register and the older lady started righting down the prices on a pad, names of crystals, etc. When the older lady stepped a side to get a folder to pull out a piece of papers with the names of the stones, crystals. She herself misplaced 1 of the stones. But not after asking ME if I had it in my pocket. My husband and I were in shock who says that to a customer. How rude is she to think or assume that I had it in my pocket when further looking she found it herself and didn't even apologize she just starts ringing up the crystals/stones as we didn't hear her rude comment. I then asked her "Did you just ask me if I had the stone in my pocket?" and she replied "Yes". Well needless to say we walked out and did not purchase anything because of her rude comment and she was surprised that we took it personal and as we were quietly leaving the store she was telling the next customer of what just happened and she can't believe we are leaving because of it. All I can say is I feel sorry for the young girl that was there helping her because she was getting on her for not watching the customers and Older Lady you need to retire. The fact that you don't know when you are rude means you need to not work with the public anymore!!!!! read more

This place could be so much better if it wasn't ran by a bunch of people who seem like they not only hate their jobs but their customers equally as much. They become visibly annoyed if you ask them too many questions, walk away from you to help someone else without saying a word to you, even if you still need their help and act as though you're bothering them by even stepping foot inside the building. Their disgruntled dispositions never change despite the time of day, week or month you stop by either. I truly would go back if it wasn't for the staff. I stopped going for years at one point and decided to go back a few months ago, hoping they had cycled those employees out by now but to my disappointment, the same exact people were in there; with the exact same rude demeanor towards customers. Honestly, I thinks it's a family owned operation which makes it even more disappointing because I know now that they'll never go away or change. They make this place and experience awful every time you walk in there. Which is truly tragic because I am obsessed with crystals. However, I refuse to be treated subhuman every time I go into any establishment to spend MY hard earned money in. read more

Will never go back - I have given multiple chances to regain my service because they are convenient and offer a good selection. The customer service is normally terrible and overrides the selection. I have also asked to order different items on three occasions - once with the owner- and they wouldn't even get back to me on items I am guaranteed to purchase. read more

I went here yesterday looking for a unique gift for my girlfriend. She mentioned that she wanted a rose quartz ring for her birthday coming up. After going to all the jewelry stores in the mall I was almost stumped on where to go until the last place suggested this place. I went in and was very pleasantly surprised in their selection of rocks, fossils and beautiful jewelry. They had a wonderful selection of rose quartz in rings, necklaces and and an assortment of random crystals, lone stones and bracelets. After looking for only minutes I found exactly what I was looking for. I found a gorgeous rose quartz ring that my girlfriend will love. The pictures she gave me matched the one I bought so she will be pleasantly surprised. They didn't have just the quartz they had everything I could have ever been looking for in the rock department or natural stones. I will most definitely be going back soon not just to shop but to look around. There are so many things to look at in this store I could spend hours here. My boyfriend and I are in love with this store. It reignited my love for rocks and minerals. I literally used to have a collection of rocks that I would tote around in a duffle bag as a preteen. The first time I went in I went in on a whim because someone had mentioned it to me as a good place to get a salt lamp. I went in, and I saw the absolute most beautiful piece of Azurite I had ever seen in my life. I obsessed over it for a day and woke up bright and early to retrieve it. I brought home the Azurite and my boyfriend was speechless and kept asking me to take him with me next time. The next time we went, we brought pretty much the whole store home, and we have been hooked ever since. The people that work there have always been extremely friendly to us. Occasionally you'll overhear a customer that was dragged in by someone else making fun of the people that are into rocks, BUT SERIOUSLY, THE EARTH IS INCREDIBLE SO (middle fingers up to those people)!! All but a couple of things are very reasonably priced, and I have never left feeling guilty about spending my money there. read more
