Bride or groom, friend or family of joyful couple, here you are, performing research in hopes of…read morefinding the perfect place for the perfect day, which for many individuals, only occurs once in a lifetime. Hard earned money will be invested, years/months/days will be spent planning, and you will all blindly hand over your trust to strangers, in hopes that your expectations will be met and not overlooked. I understand your necessity to work with a group whom share this days' significance, to want what you want, and to feel genuine disappointment for any shortcomings, all because that day is as special to them as it is to you. If you agree with my opening, then trust me when I say, The Grove is NOT your venue. As someone who has attended weddings at the Red Hawk Golf and Resort, Reno-Sparks Convention Center, Reno Events Center, Boomtown, Peppermill, Atlantis, Silver Legacy, Lakeridge and so forth, The Grove has been my one and only disappointment. Move on to the next venue on your list or keep reading for details. Wedding Coordinator: If I could give no stars, I would. The 1 star that I did give belongs solely to Emily, and Emily alone. Emily was the coordinator for the day of my cousin's wedding. We had actually been working with another woman, Kristin, who ended her career with The Grove the same week of the wedding. Personally, I felt that Emily was very attentive and answered to anything I needed. Food: For how much you pay, the food is definitely not worth it. Guests complained about 3 things: the portions being very small, the food not tasting good, and the servers being rude. One guest compared the size of her slice of meat to no bigger than "two chicken nuggets". Everything was small, and it definitely seemed as if there was an effort to economize... or maximize profit in lieu of actually serving satisfactory food. The servers were also moving extremely slowly, replacing food in a relaxed manner with no urgency to meet the needs of a growing line. When my cousin approached the staff to start serving plates, she stated that they snapped at her to wait because they were not ready. They were definitely treated like... crap. Staff: The prior leads me to another disappointment. Many guests complained of feeling belittled by staff whom seemed to carry an "uppity" demeanor. The last thing you ever want is for your guests to take time out of their day, dress up and feel great, only to attend a wedding where they're being treated very inferior... for whatever reason. Please make sure that you're good enough for the staff at The Grove prior to planning your special day here. Venue: The venue itself is beautiful. Linens were provided as well as glassware. The wireless microphone (the only microphone from the Grove) apparently was having issues, so make sure that your DJ does provide one or two. If you're planning a wedding, one doubt is enough doubt. I think that it's absolutely amazing that this place worked out for many others; unfortunately for us, that just wasn't the case.

I think since spring I have been here at least twice a month. I have enjoyed wine paired dinners, vodka flights with caviar, whiskey flights and snacks, and tonight........grilled cheese and wine. As only chef can. The simplest of childhood foods, Chef Araceli elevated to a new adult craving. Then, with Katie's wine knowledge, were accompanied with the perfect wines. El Matador- romesco, Iberico ham, grilled green onions, idiazabal, and queso Iberico on a perfectly grilled bread paired with Cava. My tastebuds were transported back to Spain. Mmmmm Peachy- fresh peaches with just the right amount of rosemary were grilled, then melted in with Munster and pork belly. And the fabulous earthy epoisses. Accompanied by a light Chablis Premier Cru. Intermission salad was a delightful light creation of arugula, pine nuts, Parmigianno, and lemon. Truffle Shuffle- when you thought chef couldn't top the previous bites. Rich savory caramelized onions and mushrooms, micro greens, fontina, and caccio Al tartufo. Just had to be paired with a barolo. Strawberry Delight- kept the theme. Grilled croissant bread layered with strawberry coulis, Nutella, strawberries, mascarpone and mozzarella. And a beautiful light brut rosé. I love a grilled cheese, but this dinner really spoiled me. No simple cheese and white bread will ever be acceptable again. I require a fresh country style, sourdough or oo la la a croissant bread. Topped with layered of various cheeses from around the world. Served with a lovely glass of wine.

This definitely falls into the category of "hidden gem"…read more Technically, it is and event space and not a restaurant, but Chef Araceli Barrera has pop-up dinners and other public events at her cozy event area housed in an unassuming row of commercial businesses. I recently had the opportunity to attend a pop-up dinner in collaboration with two other local chefs to create a very special seafood dinner. The food was outstanding and for a "tasting" menu it was quite filling. I was the DD that evening so only had a sip (or two) of the exquisite wines that were paired with each dish. Chef Arcelia paired me with a lovely flavored Pellegrino. I can't say enough about the good food, the friendly ambiance, the good service and overall good coordination by chefs Chapin, Butterfield, and Barrera.

I also think it has a lot of potential, but it's kore catered to adults without children. Especially the night life. Most of it is date night feels. Which is good for those special occasions, just cuz and such. Awesome part is they do events as well like little markets, christmas, etc. So that's fun We went trick or treating as well. So they make-up yhe family activities this way. They have a wide variety of food and drink options here. Again, though, it's not a place to spend time on the colder evenings. Most daytime activities. Either way check them out and look at the calendars for any fun future activities. Place is amazing and very unique to the reno area. Something we have needed to livin up the growing reno culture. Don't get my rating wrong I love going here. But it can definitely more. What is missing. Not quiet sure yet. I'll update once I realize it.

The tortilla chips were house-made, the brisket was quite flavorful and tender - it all came together perfectly with the sauce, crema, egg, avocado and cilantro. We both ordered the spicy margarita, which was excellent. Not too strong and with a nice kick. We arrived around 1pm and sat next to a wood burning fireplace. Talk about feeling spoiled with the whole place to ourselves! Our waitress was very helpful and attentive. We knew they had just hired a new chef and he has been working hard on a new menu that will rollout very soon. Apparently, he has offered several specials over the past few weeks as an "introduction" to his culinary talents and all have been well-received. We look forward to returning when the new menu is fully integrated. The whole restaurant/bar/club is beautifully decorated and feels very upscale, but not pretentious.
