My husband and I were looking for a getaway for my birthday outside of the DC area and since we couldn't find anything in Harper's ferry, we thought about staying in Leesburg. After several calls to other B&Bs we stumbled upon stone gables and after calling their reception we were routed to Travis, the inn keeper. He service alone deserve 6 stars He's attentive, but not overbearing. Informative and kind and knowledgeable about the Leesburg area (he recommended us an amazing dinner place when we arrived). Stone Gables is such an amazing b&b, we loved our stay so much that we were sad we didn't book a second night. Leslie and Wayne were so hospitable and friendly, we enjoyed talking to them and felt very taken care of. The b&b itself is such a neat building - loved the woodwork and stone and enjoyed looking at all of the decor in the different rooms. They had water and snacks all over, including s'mores kits you can use at one of 2 fire pits. We stayed in the Leesburg suite, which was really spacious with a big, modern bathroom and an insanely comfortable king sized bed. Breakfast was between 8-9:30 and was so tasty. I loved having a choice of my main course and we were nice and full after. I definitely want to come back in the summer, especially to take advantage of the awesome pool! read more

Wayne and Leslie are the owners and I can't tell you how beautiful the property is, how amazing the food was and how beautiful of a memory this will now be. Stone Gables B&B was spectacular!! My husband and I enjoyed a weekend stay there and loved it! It is an old dairy farm that previous owners converted into a home and B&B so the history and renovation alone are very cool and beautiful. The inside is so cozy, relaxing, peaceful, and beautiful with wood beams, farmhouse decor, woodwork, and more. The owners, Wayne and his wife were delightful! They do all the work and cook a delicious multi-course breakfast every morning. The grounds are beautiful- although we didn't get to enjoy the outside much because the weather wasn't cooperative but it was still peaceful and relaxing pulling up to the private land and having a mini-getaway. Our stay at Stone Gables was by far one of the best decisions we have ever made. My fiancé and I stayed for a night while wedding venue hunting in the area. We genuinely wish we could have stayed longer because this B&B was perfect! The entire house was so adorable, clean, and cozy. The owners were easy to communicate with and incredibly friendly and welcoming. Our room was a perfect size, with the softest sheets and blankets! My girlfriend took me here for an anniversary night away. It is such a lovely place. Tons of great touches... chairs on the lawn to linger in, s'more fixings for the fire pits, blankets in case you get chilly sitting out. The room was super comfortable. My wife Ruth and I have been to several very nice B&Bs over the past 30+ years, but none of them come close to the elegance and pristine accommodations offered at Stone Gables. The owners, Wayne and Leslie Tharp, are beyond amazing. They make you feel like family from the very first minute you meet them. The Inn itself is very charming and cozy, with many rooms and nooks available to congregate with others or to relax and read a book. Homemade cookies, snacks and beverages are always available. Everything is extremely clean, spotless and bright. The guest rooms are gorgeous and have very comfortable mattresses to allow for a great night's sleep. Then there is THE BREAKFAST ... Oh My Goodness! We have never experienced any breakfast this delicious. They offer five or six different options every morning, each of which is to die for. Everything is fresh, homemade and cooked to order. The bottom line is that Wayne and Leslie put their hearts into everything that they do and truly want you to thoroughly enjoy your stay with them. My husband and I had the most amazing weekend at Stone Gables! Leslie and Wayne were the most hospitable, warm and accommodating hosts, we felt like we were visiting family! They provided great recommendations on where to go wine tasting and eat in Town. The rooms are beautifully decorated, beds extremely comfortable and each room has a full bathroom. We really felt like we had privacy. Breakfast was delicious, five star both mornings. The decor is almost Tuscan farmhouse, and the attention to detail throughout he house was ON POINT. They have many places to convene including a fully stocked game room and library with vinyl music and tons of books. One more cool feature- the driveway cobblestones are from Yankee Stadium! It's location alone is great: it's within minutes of multiple wineries and 10 minutes from downtown Leesburg which has numerous restaurants, bars, breweries, and local shops. Stone Gables is the absolute best B&B of the many, many B&Bs we have enjoyed. Everything is beautiful, and kept up so well. As an example of how they take care of their guests, during a power outage caused by a storm (never lasts more than 5 minutes) Wayne came to our room with a portable lantern. The food is delicious. Leslie takes the lead on breakfasts, but Wayne adds his specialties as well. The breakfasts were so good and filling that we had to skip lunch each day. Make sure your phones and cameras are fully charged, because you will not stop taking pictures...inside and out! The hospitality is unparalleled. The owners are so nice...and so friendly. I would give 6 stars if I could. This was my first time going to a bed and breakfast, and I couldn't have been more impressed. Leslie and Wayne are the perfect inn keepers. Knowledgeable of the estate/local history, friendly as can be, down to earth, and had great recommendations to help keep us busy. Very accommodating, offering every amenity you could think of. Plenty of books and games to pass the time. Need a late night soda? Upstairs fridge, fully stocked. Maybe a midnight snack? Chip/snack basket is always full, daily made cookies (individually wrapped for safety) in a bowl downstairs, fresh fruits always available on the main floor, multiple ice cream bars to choose from on the second floor. What else could you ask for? If your answer is "How about a 5 star breakfast each morning??" they have you covered there too. Multiple options every morning, fresh coffee, breakfast "appetizers" that change each day and are the perfect start to the meal. The rooms themselves are charming, filled with 1800's original wood beams and trinkets along the walls that bring a cozy, at home feel. Beautifully appointed and the work done in the historic barn kept all of the charm and amazing stone work while bringing it up to modern day comfort. The innkeepers are awesome!
