My opinion is this, the course was not in the best shape. There were a lot of bare areas throughout the course. The greens looked good but were unbelievably slow and inconsistent, which made them extremely frustrating to putt on. The 19th hole which is the bar area was excellent, with great waitress staff, I think her name was "Gloria" I didn't like the fact we had to pay for parking. Overall not a horrible experience but if the course matches the restaurant it would get a higher score. read more

In town for a couple of days, staying at Evergreen Resort. Played the Stonemont course with a buddy and we got paired with a member, which was great, as he helped us around the course. Sign in pro shop says course is heat stressed and greens fees were cut in half ($45). Went to putting green and we saw why, greens were not heat stressed, they were not treated with correct fungicides, fertilizer, etc. Rough as could be. All greens had large bare spots, different types of grass, and were rough, ball couldn't roll for bouncing. However, tees and fairways were beautiful. Have a great pro shop with large assortment of golf wear. Restaurant was great, as we ate lunch there. Fix the course and it would be enjoyable to play. read more

June 2025. Don't waste your money. For $125 you'd expect the course to be in great shape. We played the Lake course. Greens were horrible. Some hadn't been mowed in several days. Some mowed that day. Some partially mowed. Some with large areas that were dead. No sand in the sand bottles. Had to walk out to the range to find an empty basket. Poor mgmt. Won't return. read more

Unfortunately, Stone Mountain Golf has significantly gone downhill over the past few years. The tee boxes and fairways are patchy, and the greens are borderline unplayable. On a Sunday in August, there was no cart service around the course selling drinks and snacks, and the practice facilities are less than desirable. The $93 fee plus $20 to park makes the course pretty much unplayable at this course. There are courses in the area in much better condition at nearly half the cost. It's a shame, this used to be one of the better options in the area. read more

DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY! Paying $84 to play a course where 30% of the greens are mowed the rest are carpets. Service is terrible Nobody wants to actually do their job. Not to mention you have to pay $20 just to get into the course even though you're only playing golf. Fairways are half decent if not they are just sandboxes. The tee boxes have rocks all over them and if not then theres no grass. Overall terrible course will not returning it is mind-blowing that someone can charge this amount of money to play a goat track. read more

Treveled down for the Masters hoping to golf at premier courses on the way. This one was just mediocre. The course conditions were not good, particularly some of the greens were in very bad shape and very inconsistent. Maybe they haven't recovered from the winter? (I'm not familiar with how Georgia courses come out of winter). There were also a lot of bare spots all over the fairways. The course is a nice layout and would probably be fun to play if it was ni better shape. But I can't get over the fact that I paid $100 for a course in such bad conditions. They should discount the green fees more if the course is not in shape. read more

Great course, beautiful views, only negative experience was ranger coming up to ask asking us to speed up when the group ahead of us was barely teeing off as we wrapped up last hole. Also cart girl only came around once the entire time on a Sunday early afternoon, you'd think with the number of people playing there would be more of them out there. Stone Mountain has two courses: Lakemont and Stonemont. I have played both and prefer Lakemont because it's more scenic and many of the holes are on the water. That is not to downplay Stonemont as that course was designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. I think Stonemont is the more challenging of the two, but Lakemont is more fun. The condition of the courses are about what you'd expect of a public course in its price range. The greens and fairways have really taken a beating from the heat and lack of rain this summer, but Stone Mountain is doing better than a lot of other public courses in metro Atlanta. The course does not snake through a housing development like a lot of club courses, so that's a plus here. You get several glimpses of Stone Mountain and Stone Mountain Lake from both courses, which is very nice. The clubhouse is spacious. One important item to note: even if you have a tee time reservation at Stone Mountain, you still have to pay $10 to get into the park (unless you have an annual pass, which can be purchased for $35). If you end up purchasing a daily pass, you can redeem it in the pro shop for $5 off any in-store merchandise. read more

The views of the park and mountain are very nice. It is very peaceful out on the course. The clubhouse is very nice and food there is good. Everything else is not good. The course is in pretty bad condition. Lots of bunkers are empty or full of clay. The greens are in bad shape. Pace of play is bad. I would say this would be good value for 50-60 bucks on the weekend. At the 110 dollars I paid, I will not be back. If they fixed the courses up, they could be really special but since the demand is already there, they probably think it's not worth sprucing up the course read more

I'm a member here for last 4 years and was very critical of the new ownership a few months ago but after dealing with the hottest summer I can remember for the last 20 years I tip my hat to the management for keeping the courses playable with bent grass greens and the heat we had it was an herculean effort. Since when does a golf course allow small children to run around while the entourage of drinking adults are half golfing, loud, and just rude? Terrible experience the day after Thanksgiving, in the middle of the day. The adults acted like they owned the park, and that the unruly behavior was entertaining. The children had access to everything. They were crawling on and off the golf carts. Our fees weren't cheap. I am sure those unruly kids did not pay anything. We will not be coming back until babysitting is not allowed on the course. read more

I have played both Lakemont and Stonemont. They are both extremely hard so you have been warned. if you like hitting a great approach shot and walking up to find it in the bunker, definitely play Stonemont. The greens are usually in great shape here and the fairways are nice to hit off of when I end up there every once and a while. Theres usually coupons for the course so definitely get in on those for the weekend as it runs like 65 bucks for a round which still isn't bad. Ill never turn down a chance to play here, even though the course humbles me like no other. read more

Usually I play here once or twice a week with my dad and brother (members). After today I will not be joining them in getting a membership next year. The amount of money they charge for membership and the fees players pay in the morning and afternoon the greens should be way better than they are. This Sunday they were getting ready for a golf tournament so all the staff was too busy catering to them and you had noisy ass golf carts driving around while you're playing placing signs on the tee boxes as you're about to tee off (no golf etiquette). When we arrived to our first tee box, there was a gentleman waiting as a single normally the line judge says do you mind if such, and such plays with you? there was a twosome behind us that he could've gone and played with instead he just assigned us the gentleman. As a new golfer, it adds stress to my day and for the amount of money I'm paying I felt that we should've at least been asked. Secondly, when we came in, there was no one there to help unload (which is fine I can do it myself) but leave a rag and bucket of water out and I'll clean my shit myself. read more

Played Stonemont a few weeks ago, after hearing so much about it, after playing Lakemont, which was a lot of fun for our foursome. Stonemont, however, was a true test. I've never played greens that rolled like that - has to be the one of the hardest I've ever played, easily the 2nd or 3rd hardest course overall. I talked to several guys on the range beforehand and they talked about how treacherous the greens were, and they weren't kidding. Despite all this, I had an awesome time, playing for $36 with the Livingsocial deal +20% off. Playing a public course like this for so cheap should be a crime, and if so, lock me up! First it was $20 just to pull in and park to pay $75 for a round. Super tight layout, no yardage on sprinklers heads or on cart. Course is in poor condition; traps are not raked and are washed out damage to many of the greens were you have to move your ball as it is unable to put in complete dead spots on some tea boxes fairways. read more

Played 4/26/15. I cannot believe how the management has let this "once spectacular" course sink to the condition it's in now. I know the past week or so, it's been rainy, but that excuse only goes so far. I've played other courses in the area that charge half the price and are in 3x better condition. Tee boxes are barren. Fairways have huge areas of sand and most of the greens have disease. One of the greens actually has bunkers in the center where they're trying to re-grow. Even worse is they had the pin RIGHT NEXT to the sand pits. C'mon guys- you can at lease move the hole AWAY from the trouble spots. The groundskeeper needs to be fired, and they need to close this course for a few months. Replace the greens, aerate and re-seed the fairways and tee boxes. But, that will never happen because Marriott would rather fleece customers and put them on a sub-par (pun intended) golf course. We got a deal thru Golfnow and paid $32 instead of the normal $59. And I feel like I was ripped off. read more

A comedy of problems awaited our lunch at the Stone Mountain Golf Club: a real tragedy of a refrigerator out of order nearly prevented a beer. Luckily for us, a bartender fetched a couple from the back refrigerator. Then, the assumed sweet tea needed to be returned for the non sweet tea ( they serve it in juice sized glasses so the waitresses have to hustle while the guests slowly dehydrate, just kidding). My club sandwich arrived without mayo but with easily removed tomatoes, Bob's hamburger promised med rare, came very medium. The dessert, apple blackberry cobbler came al dente, but still tasty. The clubhouse is a delight, very cool, peaceful, with a few tvs. We didn't golf, sadly, the prices were very reasonable seniors $39, rest of us $59. The course looked well sculpted and in excellent condition, though few were playing late in the 90+ heat. read more

Played Lakemont at the end of July and about a third of the greens need some work. There are some rough spots around the green, not sure what happened, so the entire green isn't bad. I think they will be punching them soon, but for now expect a few greens to not be perfect. read more

Only played Stonemont as I am prone to hitting my ball in the drink. Good course, cheap (especially with coupons and if you have a park pass), and usually not very crowded. No frills driving range and the last time I was there, they were working on resurfacing the practice putting green. Laid back atmosphere and close proximity to the perimeter. If you kind of suck at golf like me, and you probably do, then save some money and play these fun courses. Afterward stick around for the laser light show and get bombed on the leftover beers you snuck into the course. Play Pink Floyd!! read more

I've played here only twice but I've always enjoyed it. The greens were are a little rough some times but when for $30-50 bucks I can live with it. Staff is really friendly. The golf carts all work accordingly and the course is nice maintained for the most part. The golf course and the people are great most of the time. However, I'm a little annoyed about something that just happened. I bought a coupon from Golf Now Deal Caddy that gave me a round of golf for two people for $59. I forgot that I bought the coupon and it is now about to expire. I'm not going to be able to make it to the course before the expiration date. I know that this is my fault. However most of these coupon deals allow you to still use the dollar amount you paid for the coupon to be applied toward the full purchase price of a tee time. It turns out that the Deal Caddy deal does not allow that. I called the club directly and they would still not apply the $59 to my upcoming tee time. As a result, I'm out 59 bucks. As I said, I know that this is my fault. I would have just appreciated a little customer service. Now, every time I go to this club, I'm going to think about that $59. It may not be worth it to come back. read more

Played the Lakemont course yesterday as a 4-some since the weather got above 50 degrees. I had played here years ago and was excited to check the track out again. The park entrance is now $10 dollars regardless if playing golf or visiting the mountain. I believe there is an annual pass. The course was in decent shape for Mid-November. Playing from the blues it measured about 6,600 but the design of the course is what made it challenging. A lot of water, dog legs and blind shots kept us uneasy. The greens had a lot of character to them and were fast. Some of the pin placements were just unbelievable however, for example 17 was on a downslope. There was a lot of beauty surrounding the course and that we enjoyed. Will be back in the spring to check out the Stonemont course. read more

Note: There are two courses here. One is named Lakemont and the other is Stonemont. This review is for the Lakemont course. I play Lakemont a few times a year, and every time I always say I need to play here even more. It is a bit of a drive but well worth it. The clubhouse is top notch with a great 19th hole. They have a patio looking over the lake. And the view. The lake is gorgeous and many views of Stone Mountain. The Lakemont course is two separate 9 holes. The front nine has 5 holes that run along the lake. The back nine is all inland. Make sure you warm up on the range before you start as the first hole requires a tee shot over the lake. I really wish the nines were reversed so this shot would be the 10th! It is not a long shot to cross unless you hook it or just have a bad shot. It can be nerve wracking when the course is busy and you have a group watching. That said, I really like this hole. A medium length Par-5 that is almost impossible to reach in two shots as the green is tucked away with the lake left and long and trees short right. The smart play is to hit your second shot to 125-yards out and short iron in to the green. Holes #3 and #6 are also very challenging to avoid the lake. Number 6 is a long narrow par-3 where your tee shot has to go over a corner of the lake. Don't be left or your wet. The back nine is more of an old school course. Tree lined fairways, slope and elevation changes. Hole #11 is the worst hole on the course. It is too much of a gimmicky hole. Otherwise a real fun track. The condition of the course is usually pretty good except for the bunkers. I wish they would replace the sand. The prices are good and they run specials often. I feel this is one of the best combinations of layout, condition and fun for the buck. read more

I have had it with Stone Mountain golf course. Deteriorating course conditions, unreasonably slow play, and starters and marshals who are incompetent. Today we had a 2:00 tee time. When we got to the first tee there were three groups ahead of us. Notice I said groups and not foursomes, because the starter allowed a FIVESOME to tee off - ON A SATURDAY! I thought I had been warped to Candler Park golf course. He then proceeded to let three twosomes tee off behind us without joining them together. A starters job is not simply to make sure everyone's paid. He should actually be instrumental in helping pace of play - not hindering it. After completing four holes, we had been on the course for an hour and a half. The marshals were driving around, but apparently for nothing more than getting some fresh air. We saw the beer girl once in our entire 5 1/2 hour round. This place can't do anything right anymore. What a shame, because Stonemont is still one of the best layouts in town. Their greens need help, and that's distressing considering the amount of rain we've had and the mild temperatures. The fairways are in very good condition. I know that because I had time to study them since I had to wait on every single shot I hit. It will be a long time before I return, and I certainly won't ever tee off after 10:00 a.m. on a weekend. Greens on lakemont were complete garbage. Even if they did just aerate them a couple weeks ago, about 14/18 were awful. Definitely not worth the $80. Super tight fairways off the tee. Could be a fun course if the greens weren't shag carpets. Several bunkers didn't have rakes, my ball landed in huge foot holes from unraked sand. Guy on the first tee was very nice, other marshals sucked. read more
