Wish we would have had a whole day to explore this beautiful park because I really would have liked to climb to the top of the Stone. There are other interesting longer hikes to do. We did do some mini-hikes and toured a couple of the sights like the Grist Mill. Being here very early on a Sunday morning was a plus because it felt like we had the park to ourselves. I can only imagine that this place must be a zoo during peak times of the year. Most of the attractions like the cable car to the top are closed during the off-season. The whole confederate memorial park looks sad and should be repurposed. I am sure that would not be popular with some in the area... Since we were only able to spend a couple of hours here the $20 entrance fee seemed steep. read more

The views in Stone Mountain Park were breathtaking. There are so many trails and areas to visit. I do recommend driving to the different trails because the park is huge and they are all very spaced out. The mountain is very impressive in person! Unfortunately, the majority of the attractions and restaurants were closed, including the train. Kayaks require reservation and we're fully booked for the duration of our trip. Parking is $20 and $40 for the whole year which is a great deal. read more

I visited on a vacation to Georgia this summer. Once you get to the top the view is amazing. You have the option to take the tram to lift you to the top of the mountain or you hike your way up. I chose to hike. Not recommended for seniors to take the hike option. You can run out of breath if you're not in shape. My 8 year old had no issues and enjoyed the trip. We didn't have enough time to visit the other attractions but would Dot it again. read more

I came here yesterday, 07/06/2019, with my siblings, dad, partner, cousin and friends. It was a very hot day and when we came in to the Park it felt even more hot and extremely humid. I liked the fact that they have a lot of activities for all ages, a lot to do. What I disliked the most was that unless you didn't buy a daily pass or membership, you wouldn't be able to do none of them. I was hoping there was a way we could only do one or two individual activities but nope, didn't happen. We were here for a few hours, we walked around, went to see the rock sculpture and then when we couldn't take the heat anymore decided to leave due to not being able to do any of the activities individually. read more

Stayed at the campground because of proximity to the Silver Comet Trail. We tootled about the place and took the sky ride to the top of the mountain. You can also walk the mile up and back down for free, or pay $20 per person, round trip. The view from the top was nice and the topography was like being on an alien planet. We weren't aware that the relief carved in the side is the largest confederate memorial in the South until we got to the top. That tripped me out that Georgia's citizens pay to maintain this monument. read more

Spent the day here, the facility is nice but some of the exhibits were rather cheesy. A few of the attractions were down for the day or down for that time and the people running them couldn't tell us when they would be back open. For the price you pay for a day pass I would expect everything to be running smoothly. read more

Went here around 8am and it was already bustling with runners and hikers all trekking up Stone Mountain and tackling the 5 mile Cherokee hike. Lots of bikers here too. There's also a golf course, gift shop and sky lift on the premises. Ubers can get in free to pick up passengers if you have the Uber code for the day. We got the code from a cop but I believe you can call in and ask to avoid the $20 entry fee. The confederate flag hall and signs at the base of the mountain is still a nasty reminder of our plight that I hope they remove soon. The hike up is moderately steep, very unevenly rocky and 95% solid marble stone. I wouldn't dare do it in the blazing sun. I'd suggest Early mornings when it's cooler and shaded. Some parts of the mountain are steep inclines and could be very slippery in rainy weather. If you're taking little kids, toddlers in backpacks or older folks, there are points you may not want to venture, most notably the steep incline part right before you reach the top. Thankfully they've placed rails that you can hold on to to go up or down but I wouldn't personally advise it for seniors or very young kids. The hike took about a mile up and down each way at a moderate walking speed and paired with the Cherokee trail on the outskirts, it was an easy 7 miles or thereabout. read more

The park itself was beautiful! It was not busy since it was the off season. I would give it a higher rating but the staff did not seem to know basic answers. For example, three (3) different staff members told us three (3) different places to start the climb to the top of Stone Mountain (gondola was closed due to high winds). Then, the person in the lower gift shop told us the gift shop on the top of the mountain would close at 5:00pm. When we got there at 3:30 the store was not open and appears to have been closed all day (I would assume because of the gondola being closed). Again, park itself, 5 Star...probably even better when most things are open. read more

Our family of 7 showed up around 6:15 PM and our room was not ready (at the Inn). We were told people called off (supposed to be ready at 4). I realize this is out of their control so we understood. We finally got into our room closer to 7. We purchased arm bracelets online for the drone show. After heading over to the park, we had to go back to the area below the Skylift to get our arm bracelets. We didn't see this anywhere. After getting our bracelets we did not know of any places to eat, (except the limited menu at the Skylift...I forget the name) so we ventured into the bracelet area only part of the park. There were no signs that led us to more restaurants so we had to ask. We finally found a barbecue place and for all 7 of us it was 117 bucks. The orders of Mac n cheese were pathetic of about 1/4 cup each for 2.99! Rip off. It took about 20 mins to get our food. We were told they had no cups for water only bottled so my wife and I each got two cups because I had a feeling water was available. They did have water as an option on the machines. We then went to the drone show and the video portion was only about 75 percent of the screen as it was cutoff. The drone show was excellent until it was cut short due to technical difficulties. Some of the kids keep Saying this place is a scam and it's sad because this could be a really nice place and reasonable for families. I also forgot to mention it's still 20 bucks to enter the park even if you already have reservations at the hotel. This was not conveyed as well. This could be a fantastic place but their lack of attention to detail can't be ignored. The fan in our room is very dirty as well with bubbled up wall paper. We were also told since our room wasn't ready (we asked for a discount) that they would look into it tomorrow with management). read more

This review will have 2 parts. Part 1 - The Park Not handicap accessible. You have to pay to rent a wheelchair. Park closes at 8pm. After 5pm tickets are cheaper $22 vs $29. After we bought our 12 tickets, the admission person told us the skyrail was closed because of lighting 10miles away. We walked straight to the train which was a far and hilly walk. The train is also closed for the same reason. Took the kids to the sky ripe optical course and it closed at 5pm. I was so upset. I left my family at the lawn area where the Lazer show is, which by the way is a separate ticket price $19. I went to the ticketbooth and asked for a refund. She said tickets are none refundable. I asked to speak to the manager. Which I had to walk to another ticket booth 5mins away. Did I mention humidity was at 70%. Finally spoke with the park director at first he was also sticking to the bo refunds policy, after some convincing and killing him with kindness, he finally gave us the refund. Part 2 - the Lazer Light Show We sat on this grand lawn looking at at the mountain which was beautiful. They stared the show, with a Dog show which the kids loved. At just after 9 the Lazer show stared. It was very cool and a nice experience to end the day with. My only con is that the show didn't flow. As a child growing up in Atlanta, Georgia I loved Stone Mountain. As an adult it represents some things I don't care for. That said it has become a wonderful teaching moment for us all. The park is absolutely stunning in all of Mother Nature's beauty. I find exercising and hiking around and up the Mountain to be a wonderful way to spend the day. Yesterday we paid out $100.00 to take our friends from Indiana to Stone Mountain Park to show them one of Atlanta's main attractions. I have not been there in about 20 years and it certainly should no longer be one of Atlanta's Top places to visit. Bought tickets on line for parking and terrace view seats for the light show. We had to take our printed tickets to the ticket center before we could use them to get wrist bands and another paper ticket for the light show. Seemed to not make sense but hey we are going to have a great time right? Storms were predicted to come in around 6:00 PM. The park shut down all but one eating place and the sky ride and most of the booths in the attraction center. No one could tell us if the light show would happen or not and the employees just sat in there cafeteria and plated on their phone. Ignored people at the door trying to find out about the light show. Called the support number to find out but they closed at 5:00 PM. Storms moved out around 8:00 PM it appears they are going to have the snow but not one employee could be found to verify. We go to one of the terrace viewing areas with our tickets to get a seat and wait to get our snacks we paid for. No one is there checking tickets nor did they unlock the chain holding the seating chairs. They start testing the lights and things, no announcement to verify the light show and no chairs or snacks. Finally someone sets up to check tickets at the memorial hall entrance. She verified they were having the show. She had no clue when someone would unlock the chains for the chairs in the reserve seating or when or where we could get our snacks we paid for. We found four chairs on the side of memorial hall and carried them down to the reserve seating area to sit in. Went up to the employee cafeteria area around 9:00 PM and they had started providing drinks and popcorn, but you could not show your terrace reserve seating ticket to get them. You had to go to another line to get a wrist bracelet to show them for your snacks. What and absolute joke! The light show was not nearly as good as the old laser show. You could barely make out the scenes on the mountain face, music and singing was hard to hear as there were no speakers aimed at the terrace reserve seating. A total embarrassment to us for wasting our visitors time after we told them they would love the light show. Glad I picked up the cost and they did not have to waste their vacation money. Wow. Teenagers run this park, and they are ALL on their cell phones constantly. And they have headphones in at all times. Seriously. The people preparing food, operating the sky ride gondola, operating the train...they are all staring at their phones the whole time. My sister purchased something at a gift shop there. In the middle of the transaction, the clerk answered his phone and proceeded to have a whole conversation. We tried to get food at a concession stand near the skyride. My sister ordered a soft pretzel. The girl behind the counter glanced up from her phone, then reached into the pretzel case and squeezed the pretzels (with her bare hand) and said "They ain't ready yet." Needless to say, we didn't end up eating anything at the park. The trash cans are overflowing. The train is super grimy and grubby. The only nice part was being on top of the mountain. Overall, I feel like the conditions at Stone Mtn Park prove the movie Idiocracy is becoming a real-life prophecy. read more

My kid had a blast at Stone Mountain. You can easily spend a day and still not cover everything they have to offer. The mountain takes between 30-45 minutes and is a mile up. I was curious to know about Yurt rentals and camping. The downside of Stone Mountain is the price. It is very expensive. To park for one day is 20 for a annual pass is 40. So you see how it makes sense for locals to get the annual pass. The groupon is misleading. It is really forces you to spend more money than what you may have intended. Which is really why this review gets 3 stars. Overall, Stone Mountain Park is fun for elementary school age fun. Just beware of Groupon "deals". read more

We have been to Stone Mountain Park five times and unfortunately, won't be returning. During winter, expect crowds, but everything is open. The few times we have visited during summer, we paid full price for the attractions, yet most of the park was closed. Our most recent visit was on July 19, 2021. The park was almost empty due to the rainy weather. It is always amazing to walk around the top of the mountain (which is the only reason I give this place any stars). We did that and expected to see the rest of the park and attractions, but almost everything was closed (shops, food/drink concessions and restaurants, geyser water area, indoor Dino play area- just to name a few). It was a complete waste of money and time. Unless you call and confirm everything is open, I wouldn't bother. Go check out the GA Aquarium or Zoo instead. read more

All I can say is, WOW! We spent the day here last Monday and had a blast! We scheduled Galactic tubing from 6-8pm. We also bought the tickets that allowed us to access the Snow Mountain area. First thing in the morning, we hiked along part of the Cherokee trail until we reached the start of the Hike Up Stone Mountain. The weather was beautiful! The hike up was a moderate climb but all in all, very enjoyable. (Now, I would probably have different thoughts if it was 80+ degrees). At the top, there were ample spots for picture taking and a small store that serves snacks and drinks. We rode the gondola back down. We didn't see any shows so I can't speak for those, but the tubing at night with the laser lights was amazing! Unfortunately, the double tubes were not running due to the ice but the singles and family tubes were good to go! The family tube had a VERY nice drop. They take your picture and these are available for purchase. The single tubes have a nice drop as well (no "stomach" feeling but still super fun!). The great part of these was the long ride at the bottom over crazy humps and bumps. There's no way to NOT have fun! I would definitely recommend visiting, especially when Snow Mountain is running. read more

You MUST come early in the morning to beat the crowd. We made it at 7am on a foggy Fall morning and there was already a good amount of people. The hike is serious, but worth it in the end. I had to take a star away because the confederate flag and a slippery hill with a dirty pole you have to trek up. We saw a few people fall and I almost took a tumble a few times coming down. I've only been to Stone Mountain Park for the laser show, and it was so much fun. I really enjoyed it specially since I went for July 4th and they had an amazing show of fireworks. I know there's many outdoor activities to do at Stone Mountain including kayaking, SUP, golf, hiking, biking, and more! As well as seasonal events such as Spring FUN Break, Summer at the Rock, Yellow Daisy Festival, Stone Mountain Christmas and Snow Mountain. Like I mentioned before, I've only been to Stone Mountain for the laser show which happens mostly on summers day. The Lasershow features lights, iconic music, lasers, flame cannons, and epic fireworks. The show is about 45 minutes and it is free after you pay $15 per car at the gate. There is an immense lawn in front of the mountain where everyone brings seats and blankets as well as coolers and food kinda like a picnic. On winter months they transform the park into "Snow Mountain". It consist on a 400-foot snow-covered tubing hill and an enormous snowy play area. Heard it's so much fun! I suggest getting an annual pass. As of 2019 they're $60 per person for one year instead of $15 daily. There are so much stuff to do for summer so I think I will definitely be getting mine soon! Important information: Glass containers or any type of alcohol are not allowed in the lawn, and they have designated smoking areas. Long story short the employee that dealt with us seem like she hated her job or was hungry or sum. First of you could've tell she was annoyed with us trynna renew our membership. We're Caribbean so my parents have an accent so I guess she think she could've treated us however. She was not professional nor accommodating. When people are spewing their money you require some type of respect from the establishment. We were trynna renew our membership at the skyline entrance. She was not welcoming and rude the way she spoke . She did the transaction now and didn't even mention she's waiting for her manager to print the card . Just had us standing there like a fool .Another 20mims went by we ask what are we waiting for . Another 20miNs went by she gets annoyed at us . Now it's half an hour now waiting to get the damn card . She was rude and had an attitude kept being on her phone and just laughed at us . My parents then said they're gonna go to all the way to the other side of the park to get the card print . She then shove the receipt to them and said it won't make a difference and just straight up laughed in our face . I'm from New York if I had a drink in my had I'd throw it in her face . But thank goodness I got a good picture that shows her attitude. Also it was definitely racism because she wasn't speaking to the white folks like that's . And yes black people can be racist as well . Shawty was more concern on her phone and how her fake ass hair looked . I was gonna post it up on tik tok but ion got time for that attention . We then took the situation else where . The girl that helped us I forgot her name but she just seem to wanted to compensate us to get outta her face. She was indeed helpful but didn't seem to care much about the complaint as much but overall she did help us and was nice .We even had to ask her for my one day pass because the same rude girl didn't even bother to give us that either ......besides all of this we had a good time and the other employees at the park was so nice . Many venues were closed due to Vivid which is understandable, but the park music needs to bring honor to the hero's here and not to the performers most of which would not be the fans of this place. Absolutely wonderful place! Due to high wind, the sky ride was closed so we decided to walk up. It said around an hour up but we made it to the top in less than 35 minutes. There's not much to do once you get to the top but the view is pretty spectacular. We were there in the weekend, so it was pretty busy, but the trail looked wide so i didn't find too congested. One can have a comfortable social-distanced hike. The park seems to have a lot more to offer besides just the well-known hike up, but we were not so lucky as lot of attractions were temporarily shut considering this corona virus situation. There are a few places with benches for resting on the way but I saw no restrooms(there's one on the top though). It's definitely a place you shouldn't miss to visit if you're around here. read more

We came here about a year ago and I can't believe I forgot to review this Special Gem or should I say "Special Rock" lol. We visit Atlanta and wanted to see a more historic, nature side and this is the perfect place. We came towards the afternoon not far from Christmas time so the park was Christmas everything. They offer all types of activities and family packages geared towards Christmas such as pictures with Santa, train ride with Christmas carols and a fake snow cover hill to ride a raft down and more. Other times of the year they offer different events. The lazor show sounds amazing but we weren't here during the show times (more during sunmer) so I would love to come back. For the lazor show they show a huge light show projected on the Stone Mountain. Prices do vary for this. For the main attraction we came here to go up Stone Mountain. You can either hike up the side at no cost or take the summit cable lift . As far as prices go there is a fee for parking and for the cable lift. We came during sun down and it was a beautiful site to see. If your visiting Atlanta I highly suggest coming here. It's something different outside typical attractions like the aquarium or Coca Cola Factory. It also makes for a romantic trip for couples or a fun family trip. read more

We opted for the annual parking ($40) and were given a sticker and a map upon entering. The annual parking pays for itself with two trips because the daily parking is $20. There were tons of people in different areas when we arrived, but it did not seem crowded and the trail was pretty empty. There were significantly more people doing the trail that goes directly up Stone Mountain, but we went to do the Stone Mountain Cherokee Loop Trail. It took us a few minutes to find where the trail started, but once we found it, the entire trail was so well marked. The trail itself was so beautiful. It was 5 miles in a loop and offered so many different terrains and scenery. Heading up Stone Mountain was challenging, but so lovely at the top. The total elevation gain was about 400 feet. There were bits by the water, tons of train tracks, tons of super green areas, and of course Stone Mountain. We are looking forward to returning soon. read more

New to GA and this outing made me fall in love! Finally got to hike Stone Mountain. Upon arriving the hardest part was finding parking. You can park in the neighborhood and walk over a short distance or you can purchase a park pass for the year ($40 if I'm not mistaking) to park near the mountain. It took me about 50min-1hr going up the first time because of the steep incline and my own personal pit stops to catch my breath. It is a challenge the first time around but if you go frequently it will get better. My times afterward it became an easy 40 mins up and about 20-30 down! I now take my dog and she enjoys the exercise with me. Its plenty of people on the trail up to the mountain for you to feel safe alone or take friends and make it a group fitness outing! Came here just to get a photo at the top of Stone Mountain for my Instagram and ended up enjoying myself more than expected. The view is breathtaking and the feeling of actually making it to the top is indescribable! Due to arriving so late in the day we were forced to use the Skyride before the sun set instead of climbing the mountain, which was actually a very fun experience! The Summit Skyride is $12 round trip and runs until 8pm, so don't miss it unless you mind hiking down the mountain with Coytes trailing you. If you are a tourist don't forget to snag a photo with a friend or family member in the photo booth before leaving the mountain. I was very surprised at how well the pictures came out in the photo booth, and made for great souvenirs since we were only visiting. read more

From the top of the mountain you get a nice view of Atlanta city. At night you can see airplanes getting lined up for landing at Hartsfield Jackson airport. Sunrise and sunset are amazingly beautiful from the top of the mountain. Apart from hiking, park has a picnic spot, a lake for water based activities and plenty of walking trails. I absolutely loved Stone Mountain Park despite the confederacy heritage. Taking the cable car was awesome. What a beautiful 360° view. Walking down to the river was even more pristine. I love to canoe around the lake during the spring and take advantage off the walking patches. Nice, clean and friendly park. I would definitely recommend this place to one and all from locals to non-locals of Atlanta or Georgia. Must visit attractions. read more

Carved 42 feet deep and 400 feet above ground into a beautiful and unique smooth dome of a grey granite mountain that stands tall against the landscape, the Confederate Memorial is an almost one-hundred year stone scar. It was officially completed in 1972. Years ago, I first visited here to see the work begun by Gutzon Borglum, better known as the designer of Mount Rushmore. Borglum didn't last long on this project and the lacking artistic vision of the remaining three sculptors who worked on the bas relief is evident. Unlike Mount Rushmore, the amateurish images of the three men depicted here are surely giant but also stiff and emotionless. More importantly, the history of this work is steeped in the Ku Klux Klan and other degrading associations and imagery. Indeed, an early version of the park beneath the sculpture outrageously included a replica plantation with slave quarters. I know most visitors to this park these days are here for all of the other natural and man-made attractions. Good for them. However, for me, this monumental image that lords over it all is an ever-present reminder of the hurt the Confederacy caused to the United States. I can't ignore it and I doubt that I'll ever return to Stone Mountain as long as this work exists. read more

I am a fan! I will return every trip to take this beautiful hike up Stone Mountain. Looking at the pictures beforehand I wasn't really sold on the excursion but I'm glad my friend convinced me. It took us under a hour for the hike up, probably about 30 min for the average person. They offer a tram service to take you to the top if you don't care to hike. There may be a cost associated. Once you're at the top you are rewarded with all kids of rewards for a fee of course; poprcorn, soda, water sports drinks you name it. Bring a little extra cash you will want to treat yourself for that journey up the mountain. The view is gorgeous; I recommend you bring a camera, a hat and sunglasses (the sun feels so much brighter when you're just a little closer).You can literally walk all around, sit down and catch a breath or a view, and I even caught a few people working out at the top. Parking is plenty no need to worry about parking there are so many parking areas you can find parking in no time. There is a entry fee of $20 for the park entrance. I would highly recommend you bring water with you as well. read more
